Gilad Atzmon: Just came across this article here. Pretty funny, it seems as if our Hasbara’s agent BOD & AZZ are hitting the wall.

London – The Board of Deputies of British Jews claims to have had a complaint against Gilad Atzmon upheld by the Advertising Standards Authority. Naturally, the renegade saxophonist sees things rather differently.
Oy gevalt, that Atzmon is driving us crazy, if only he would stick to playing his saxophone and not interfere in little matters like Operation Cast Lead and the Flotilla Massacre. And how dare he write a book called The Wandering Who?

The problem with Atzmon is, well, there are several problems actually. He is not only a Jew and an Israeli but has a Masters Degree in Philosophy. He has also done his homework, although he appears to have a rather starry-eyed view of Britain as a nation that embraces freedom of expression. This is after all the country in which a woman was convicted of calling another woman a coconut, and where at the moment the morons and petty tyrants who control the Clown Prosecution Service have charged a woman with putting a golliwog in her own window, and a foul mouthed overpaid football player with using a racial expletive to another overpaid football player, an offence that required a telephoto lens and the services of a professional lip reader to frame.
The Board of Deputies of British Jews claimed/boasted – how about a nice neutral word for a change? – said, that the Advertising Standards Authority had upheld a complaint against Palestinian Mission UK recently concerning the content of its website, in particular some articles by Mr Atzmon.

The Palestinian Mission’s compliance is interesting to say the least. After all, it could have told the ASA to get stuffed, instead it has bowed to what may be seen as an act of censorship, or it may be that the Palestinians realised long ago that their best weapon in their campaign for justice is diplomacy. This is a lesson Organised Jewry has yet to learn.
Since the current troubles started in the Middle East if not considerably before that, they have relied on pulling wires behind the scenes, financial pressure on the press, smears against anti-Semites – real and imagined – and at times naked tyranny. The problem is that doesn’t work anymore, and the reason is there is such widespread opposition to Zionist Imperialism and Western complicity in it that calling people names is not enough.
Atzmon may be one of the most embarrassing voices in this new discourse but he is by no means the first. In the United States, the academic Norman Finkelstein has been a thorn in the side of the Jewish establishment for years. There are many others, including organisations, and their voices are growing louder, and they are being heard and noticed, though apparently not by David Duke. Atzmon’s act of wiping Israel off the map was of course a mirror image of what has actually happened since 1948; it is Palestine that has been wiped off the map, and continues to be in spite of the mounting international pressure.
There was though an incident a few years ago of which all the usual suspects made a great deal, and which establishment politicians parroted compliantly, this was the claim that the President of Iran had threatened to wipe Israel off the map, and of course we must prevent this by bombing Tehran and perhaps even wiping Iran off the map.
This fabrication has been refuted, debunked and trashed countless times including by a Guardian columnist 5 years ago, that being one newspaper that appears to be trusted by the Board of Deputies. Even so, it was given spurious credence in a recent smear article on Gilad Atzmon, among others, by Jamie Slavin writing on a blog for, surprise, surprise, the Board of Deputies of British Jews. Slavin is no rank and file Zionist though, he is the Board’s Public Affairs Officer. Perhaps someone should report him to the ASA? Or perhaps no one takes seriously anything he and his ilk have to say anymore, a thought that obviously terrifies the leaders of political Zionism more than the anti-Semites they find under every bed.

On December 22, 2011 – Israeli daily Jerusalem Post had reported that with the fourth anniversary of the martyrdom of Hizbullah commander, Imad Mughniyeh, approaching – Israel Occupation Force (IOF) has beefed-up security around former IOF chief Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi and former Mossad chief Gen. Meir Dagan. It’s Dagan who masterminded the assassination of Imad Mughniyeh in Damascus in February 2008 followed by an assassination attempt on Syrian General Mohammed Suleiman in Damascus.

Hizbullah has no past history of assassination of Israeli war-criminals inside Israel. However, notorious for assassination and terrorism around the world – Israeli leaders are usually affraid of their own shadows.

Since, 2009, the hoax of assassination of top Israeli military official has become an annual ritual in Israel. This time, the threat hoax originates from Sheikh Nasrallah’s warning during February 16, 2010 ‘Martyred Leaders Day’.

If you bomb Rafik Hariri international airport in Beirut, we will bomb Ben-Gurion airport in Tel Aviv. If you bomb our docks, we will bomb your docks. In Summer 2006, during 34-day war with Hizbullah, IOF killed over 1200 civilians and 49 Hizbullah fighters while losing 149 of its soldiers. Israel wants Egypt to return $300m bribe money

Iraqi-born Brig.Gen. (ret.) Binyamin Ben-Eliezer, a member of Israel’s Labor Party, has called on the Egyptian military junta to return $300 million the Zionist entity paid as bribe to former Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak. He claims that money was paid to rewrite Egyptian educational materials in order to reduce tension between Egyptians and Jews. Binyamin Ben-Eliezer is one of the 15 Israeli leaders the International Criminal Court refuses to investigate and prosecute as war criminals.
It’s reported that Egypt’s former first lady, Suzanne Mubarak, lead Egyptian delegate to discuss the project with Israeli officials.

Now, just imagine if Rep. Ron Paul becomes next US President in 2013 – he may ask Egypt to repay $45 billion bribe money it received as part of Camp David Accord to keep peace with Israel. He could also ask Israel to return $3 trillion the American tax-payers gave to the country since 1970s. How about demanding $18 billion bribe money from Pakistan for allowing US-NATO forces to use Pakistan’s land and skies to invade Taliban and occupy Afghanistan since October 2011?

If the German Left Party grabs majority of seats in Bundestag (parliament), its leader Inge Hoger may ask Israel to return $93 billion of Holocaust compensation money. She says Israel has misused Holocaust and it has for “many years starved and indiscriminately bombed the population of Gaza because they voted democratically for Hamas in January 2006. The legend of Israel as the only democracy in the Middle East is a farce“, in her May 2011 speech at the 9th Palestinian in Europe Conference in Wuppertal.

What about if the anti-Israel GNC party grab power in Switzerland in future and demand Israel return $3 billion taken from its banks by the US-Israel alliance based on forged Jewish deposit claims?
Former head of UN nuclear Watchdog and a prominent Egyptian secularist politician, Dr. Mohamed Elbaradei, has claimed recently that Washington is working very hard behind the scene to stop annulling Camp David Accord specially now that Islamist parties are coming to power in Egypt.

There is also fear it could lead to further legal actions, such as demands for reparations or territorial claims. With its tough response, Turkey wants to send the message to other countries not to copy the French, as the reaction will be severe. With the Arab Awakening still unfolding, requiring a unified front from Euro-Atlantic actors, Sarkozy’s timing could hardly have been worse.”

SITE Intelligence, Reputed Mossad Operation Claims to Credit Al Qaeda for Iraq Bombings

Mossad Bombings in Iraq Wrongly Credited to Al Qaeda

The recent round of bombings in Iraq, according to an Israeli source credited with endless false reports, phony bin Laden tapes and videos and numerous other obfuscations yesterday claimed Al Qaeda was responsible for the recent bombings in Iraq.

The organization run by the daughter of a convicted Israeli spy  was the only source, no intelligence organization in the world found the website SITE claimed it found. This is always the case. Site Intelligence always finds the story Israel or American neocons need, exactly when they need it, always “too good to be true” and, thusly, not true at all.

This is another of those cases, part of a long history of disinformation paid for by the FBI and DOD, the fictional subtext for the war on terror, the needed blame for the Taliban or Al Qaeda even when there were no facts to be found.

There are a few problems with the story.

US counter-intelligence sources in Baghdad indicate there are no Al Qaeda forces in Iraq and, if there were, there would be no reason for them to randomly attack “everyone at the same time.”
On the other hand, Israel has recently moved troops and aircraft into Kurdistan without government approval and is the only possible “player” to benefit from a civil war in Iraq.

Knowledgeable sources have, for years, credited Israel with church and mosque bombings throughout Iraq, attacks on American forces and even video-sniper attacks found, as is always the case, by only SITE Intelligence and not the 16 American intelligence agencies with their tens of thousands of employees, their dozens of satellites and their armies of Arabic speaking operatives that scan the internet day and night.

An Israeli company with 2 employees has, 100% of the time, found the “Al Qaeda” announcements and the carefully time “bin Laden” threats. From an earlier article commenting on inconsistencies in SITE reporting:

A further abuse, of course, is not only that we are no longer seeing the easily debunked bin Laden doubles whose video tapes were “mysteriously” released by SITE Intelligence, the Rita Katz/Israeli group that seems to find them in trash bins behind delicatessens. The “new” audio tape itself contains statements claiming credit for 9/11 in direct contradiction to the real bin Laden videos, the only ones authenticated.
If you wondered why the FBI doesn’t list Osama bin Laden as a suspect in 9/11, I think you have your answer. If they think the bin Laden “admissions” aren’t credible, I wonder who the FBI is investigating or if they have simply been told to mind their own business.
The terrorist incident itself is the last thing Al Qaeda would ever take responsibility for despite the claims by SITE Intelligence that they found an unnamed and unverified internet site that confirmed this.
Who in the name of all that is holy would want to take responsibility for an idiot who was led onto an American bound plane by passing around searches, customs and passport control in an airport run by an Israeli security company but who carried a “bomb” designed by a three year old.

Bombings such as those in Alexandria, across Pakistan, Iran and Iraq and now Nigeria are signature Mossad “false flag” terror operations. The rationale is either to start civil war or sell security equipment to the victims.
In every single case, only Israel benefits, no other party. In fact, whenever SITE Intelligence is tied to reporting a terror incident, it is not unreasonable to assume that Israeli groups are responsible.

Marketing Phony Terrorism

In every single case, only SITE Intelligence is the source of the finger pointing away from Israel.

Tapes and videos submitted by SITE have long been debunked as falsified and counterfeit. Al Qaeda statements are all assumed to be the same, mythology written in Tel Aviv to cover their operation in Kurdistan and with the PKK in Turkey, taking advantage of the US withdrawal from Iraq.

Sources indicate that Israel already has drones in Kurdistan, put their without the permission of the Iraq government, has moved troops into Kurdistan as part of an occupying force and is operating against Iran from positions in Iraq.

Recent sightings of “non Arabic speaking” troops moving through Jordan recently are now believed to have been Israeli units moving off the Golan Heights in generic military attire.
More bombings are expected in Iraq as are attacks on American facilities inside the Green Zone. It is expected that SITE Intelligence will, of all the sources in the world, learn that it is “Al Qaeda” that is responsible.

Israeli forces have been active in the Mosul region for years, supporting PKK terrorist cells in Turkey and in orchestrating tensions between the Chaldean Christian community and local Muslims.

Israel considers Kurdistan part of “Greater Israel” and Likudist leaders have indicated a desire to annex Kurdistan. The more formalized occupation of portions of Kurdistan by uniformed IDF personnel is a significant increase in visibility.

It is also a direct challenge to the government in Baghdad and is likely to exacerbate sectarian violence between Shiites and Sunnis.

Besieged Gaza, Occupied Palestine
We, Palestinians of Gaza, 3 years on from the 22-day long massacre in Israel’s operation ‘Cast Lead’, are calling on international civil society to make 2012 the year when solidarity with us in Palestine captures the spark of the revolutions around the Arab world and never looks back. On this anniversary we demand an international liberation movement that eventually leads to just that, liberation for us Palestinians from 63 years of brutal military occupation and ethnic cleansing that pours shame on any organisation or government claiming to endorse universal human rights.
We will never forget the hurt of 3 years ago, the criminal onslaught that we lived through, the blood of over 1400 murdered men, women and hundreds of children running through the streets of Gaza, between the rubble, soaking our beds and etched on our minds. We will never forget. For they are still dead, and thousands more are still maimed. [1]
 We will never forget the last 63 years during which our land, homes, olive groves, lemon trees and cherished way of life was taken away from us, while Israeli soldiers held our fathers’ faces in the sands, imprisoned them, or shot them in front of us. We will not forget the sickening cowardice of the international community that has allowed and enabled this ethnic cleansing of our people, subjecting us to Israel’s racist Zionist vision that defines us, the indigenous people of Palestine, as the undesired ‘ethnic group’ for the region.
The US continues to ‘reward’ Israel with 6 billion dollars of tax-payers money while the EU increases its trade and diplomatic relations. For the Israeli apartheid regime this translates as the green light to unleash the 4th most powerful military on us to ‘do its worst’ against our civilian population, of which over half in Gaza are children and over 2 thirds are UN registered refugees.
In recent years, civil society and solidarity movements throughout the world have grown in their support for us, especially in 2011. As the world wakes up, the prospect of life without Israeli occupation and its system of race-based subjugation becomes more than a dream. We demand simply, human rights that anyone else would expect. This year, the first taste of liberation in the Western controlled Arab world arrived in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya. Many of those who took to the streets moved beyond their fear of being killed or tortured, facing up to the despotic, Western-backed regimes in the name of freedom for their families, communities and compatriots.
We will never forget them too, as we have lived much of our lives beyond this fear, our resilience against Israeli apartheid growing as the solidarity movements around the world grow. No longer under the boot of Western governments we urge the Arab street to do what the Israeli Apartheid Regime fears the most, to unite and build against them, the state that has violated more United Nations resolutions than any other. The siege breaking attempts into Gaza must continue, the second Free Gaza Flotilla exposed again the brutal and merciless edge of Israel’s hermetic siege.
In Europe and America the Boycott, Divestment and Sanction (BDS)[2] movement is reaching the mainstream. Huge victories have included campaigns against waste and transport infrastructure firm Veolia who build transport routes on Israeli occupied lands[3].Inspired and supported by Nobel Prize winner and anti apartheid hero Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the University of Johannesburg ended its collaboration with Ben Gurion University in Israel.[4] Other University campuses are pursuing boycott campaigns and major European Trade Unions have broken ties with Israeli Trade Unions. And a growing number of conscientious artists and singers are refusing to perform in Israel.
All over Israeli internet sites and in government policy are attempts to deter the growing BDS movement,[5] an international strategy that succeeded against a similarly well-armed, Western affiliated apartheid regime in South Africa.
The effect worldwide of the Gaza massacres 3 years ago was a catalyst for a huge rise in worldwide solidarity and action in support of Palestine, just as the South African Sharpeville massacre was for South African blacks in 1960.
Our call this year will accept no compromise. We call upon all Palestine solidarity groups and all international civil society organizations to demand:
· An end to the siege that has been imposed on the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza Strip as a result of their exercise of democratic choice.
· The protection of civilian lives and property, as stipulated in International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law such as The Fourth Geneva Convention.
· The immediate release of all political prisoners.
· That Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip be immediately provided with financial and material support to cope with the immense hardship that they are experiencing
· An end to occupation, Apartheid and other war crimes with immediate reparations and compensation for all destruction carried out by the Israeli Occupation Forces in Gaza.
For us, the sacrifices for resisting have often meant imprisonment, torture, collective punishment and death. Outside, the risks are lower, but with great possibility. We call on you to Boycott Divest and Sanction, join the many International Trade Unions, Universities, Supermarkets and artists and writers who refuse to entertain Apartheid Israel. Speak out for Palestine, for Gaza, and crucially ACT. There has never been a time when mobilizations are gaining such support. 1994 was the year of South Africa when Apartheid was thrown into the dustbin of history; with your support we can make 2012 the year of free Palestine!

Descendants of Lebanese Resistor to France Denied Citizenship

Legendary south Lebanese fighter Ali Harb died in exile after fighting Ottoman rule and French Occupation. Today, dozens of his descendants who currently live in Jordan continue to be denied Lebanese citizenship.

Touline – The town of Deir Abu Said, near Irbid in Jordan, has been home to hundreds of Lebanese for the past few decades. These relatives of the late Ali Harb hail from the Southern Lebanese town of Touline, yet they are denied Lebanese citizenship.

Their ordeal dates back to the beginning of the twentieth century. Back then, their ancestor, Ali Harb, fought in Lebanon against both the Ottomans and the French. After he was sentenced to death and denied citizenship by the latter in 1925, he fled to Jordan with his brothers, Mohammad and Abbas.
Bilal Yassine, a historian from the southern Lebanese village of Majdal Selem, visited his cousins from the Harb family in Jordan and was shocked to learn that more than 500 Lebanese from the same family live in the area.

In addition to the Harbs, Yassine found out that there are hundreds of other Lebanese who “were denied their Lebanese nationality, and instead obtained Jordanian citizenship and took up government jobs in Jordan including high-level and army jobs.” Yet, despite this, “they hang on to their Lebanese identity, they fly Lebanese flags in their houses and on their cars, and follow the Lebanese media.”
They have also made efforts to regain their Lebanese citizenship. “Their representatives met with Speaker Nabih Berri in the 1990s,” Yassine explains, “and asked for help in obtaining citizenship.”
Abbas Harb, who maintains contact with his relatives in Jordan, says that “they come to [Touline] on a regular basis and petition the Lebanese authorities, but they are always turned down. They continue to dream that they will be able to return to their ancestor’s home and officially call it theirs.”
“A large number of these people filed a lawsuit to obtain citizenship in 1998, again in vain. They are waiting for a political solution that may resolve the matter,” he continues.

Harb also notes that Deir Abu Said, where they live, is close to the Syrian border and not far from South Lebanon: “Had it not been for the Israeli occupation of Palestine, they would reach Bint Jbeil in South Lebanon on a two hour walk. These people, along with members of the Charara family of Bint Jbeil and the Tabaja family of Nabatiyeh, made this journey as they fled on foot to escape the French army.”

“The Harb family urged me to present their case again,” Yassine says, adding, “It upsets them that they are treated as foreigners in Lebanon despite the fact that their ancestors fought for the country and despite the fact that their relatives live in Lebanon and they own land in Touline and elsewhere.”
Yassine traces the Harb family’s problem to the fact that “the French removed Ali Harb and his brothers from the Lebanese citizen registry, which made it impossible for Ali to get a Lebanese identification card.”

The ex-mayor of Touline, Mohammad Ibrahim Awaleh, says that the residents of the area were registered with the Lebanese state in the 1950s, enabling most to obtain Lebanese citizenship.
However, he adds that “Ali Harb was not registered because he spent his youth fighting the French occupation, along with his famous companions Adham Khanjar and Sadiq Hamza Al-Faour, participating in heroic acts of resistance in Wadi al-Hujair.”

The ex-mayor adds that Harb was not the only one denied Lebanese nationality at that time: “A large number of Harb’s sons and relatives were denied citizenship, even though they spent years defending the country, only to pay the price in years of exile after they were chased out by the French army.”
Yassine recounts that the French army occupied much of southern Lebanon citing the burning of the Ain Ebel church in Bint Jbeil as an excuse: “Their motto was to get rid of the gangsters, taking advantage of poisonous propaganda published by the right-wing al-Bashir newspaper that was notorious for its allegiance to the French.”

“Bint Jbeil was destroyed by the French as they sought to arrest the resistance fighters, especially Adham Khanjar, Sadiq Hamza Faour, and Ali Harb, after Khanjar shot and wounded General Gouraud, the commander of the French army in the Levant. Khanjar and Faour managed to escape to Syria but the French occupation would later arrest Khanjar in the house of Sultan Pasha al-Atrash,” he adds.

Yassine says that “Khanjar was executed and buried in Beirut. Harb and Faour sought refuge in Jordan, where a Lebanese agent managed to assassinate Faour. Finally, Harb asked King Faisal for assylum and was granted land where he lived for the rest of his life with his family until he died in the 1990s.”

In his book A Revolutionary from My Country, the late writer Ali Murtada al-Amin describes Harb as “one of the leaders of the resistance movement in south Lebanon against the Ottoman and the French occupiers, as well as one of the participants in the 1920 Hujair Conference, along with Khanjar and Faour. Each of these led an armed group that struggled against the French occupation.”
Ali Harb’s name remains engraved in the memory of Touline today, especially with the hundreds of his relatives living in exile as a direct consequence of his legacy.

Ban Ki-moon, the UN secretary-general, “believes that the agreement lays the foundation for a peaceful and durable solution to the situation, respecting both the sovereignty of Iraq and its international humanitarian and human rights obligations”, according to a statement released by his spokesperson.

 The secretary-general reminds all concerned that any violence or attempt at a forcible solution would be unacceptable,the statement said.

Two Damascus University students were martyred and three others were injured on Tuesday by gun shots fired by a student at the Medical Engineering Department in the university, Syria’s official news agency (SANA) reported.

Ammar Taysir Baloush, second-year student of Medical Engineering, had opened fire using a handgun during an exam for the students of his department killing Hussein Ghannam and wounding Sultan Radwan, George Farah, Pierre Lahham, and Khudir Khazem.

A medical source told SANA that Khazem had later succumbed to his wounds and passed away on Wednesday. Khazem was in a critical situation.

Two days before his death, Ghannam wrote on his page on Facebook that he feels lonely and a stranger in a strange place after life abandoned him. He then said: “So, death is easier to me. O Allah speed up my demise.”

Ghannam was laid to rest on Wednesday. He was escorted from Damascus Hospital to al-Sayyeda Zeinab Cemetery with huge participation of his teachers, friends, students and youth activists.

His father said that his son is the victim of conspiracy which targets the homeland and aims at sabotaging it and undermining its security. He called on the youths to be more aware and conscious of this conspiracy which has began through media fabrications and which led to terrorist criminal acts.

The father expressed desire that peace and security will return to the homeland and the youths will continue their normal life and fulfill their aspirations.

DAMASCUS,(SANA)- A medical source at al-Mujtahed Hospital affirmed that Student Khudir Khazem from the Department of Medical Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical& Electrical Engineering at Damascus University was martyred as he was in a critical situation after being shot by Student Ammar Taysir Baloush on Tuesday at one of the Faculty’s halls.
Head of Deaths Department at the hospital, Dari Shihadeh told SANA Correspondent that Khazem passed away on Wednesday at 01:30 am.

A system of government characterized by congress and legislatures that are owned, bought, and sold by money and special interest groups, forcing members of Congress to spend some 60% of their time seeking re-election funds and corrupting the form of government envisioned by the Founding Fathers.”

Libya war a precursor to Ezekiel 38-39?

The Wall Street Journal Reported today (March 2011): “Oil futures settled at their highest level in 2 1/2 years Wednesday as air strikes continued against Libya and the U.S. reported a sharp drop in gasoline inventories.” On New York commodities markets, ‘Light Sweet Crude’ settled at $105.75 a barrel, the highest we’ve seen since September 2008.

The US and Allied forces air strikes on Col. Moammar Gadhafi’s military infrastructure and Western sanctions have stopped the 1.3 million barrel per day of Libyan output and have caused commodity futures traders to speculate that oil supply will get worse before it gets better. Kyle Cooper, managing partner at IAF Energy Advisors in Houston stated in the WSJ article, ”If this spreads into Saudi Arabia, $120 a barrel is going to look cheap. People are scared to death to be short.”

In Bible prophecy, Libya is included in the Russian-Iranian alliance against Israel in “the last days.” Ezekiel 38-39, tells us that ‘Put’ is one of the nations that joins the ‘Gog/Magog’ alliance against the nation of Israel. Ancient historian Flavius Josephus records that ‘Put’ or ‘Phut’ is ‘Libyos.’ Ancient Libyos included the territory of modern Libya. Regardless of the outcome of the current military and political struggle in Gadhafi’s Libya, Bible prophecy tells us that one day, Libya will be a part of the alliance with an ‘evil thought’ in its head, to invade the land of Israel to take a ‘spoil’ – maybe oil? Bible prophecy seems to be coming into fullness on almost a daily basis in Israel. Is the current Libyan war a precursor to the fulfillment Ezekiel 38-39? We’ll keep watching.

Netanyahu Rejects Peace Stephen Lendman

Sham Israeli peace negotiations were stillborn from inception. Writer Henry Siegman once called them “the most spectacular deception in modern diplomatic history.”

Netanyahu once said they’re “a waste of time.” Previous Israeli officials called occupation and status quo conditions “permanent.”
Republican presidential aspirant Newt Gingrich calls Palestinians an “invented” people. Decades ago, former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir (a transplanted Ukrainian American) said:

“There is no such thing as a Palestinian people. It is not as if we came and threw them out and took their country. They didn’t exist….How can we return the occupied territories? There is nobody to return them to.”

No wonder Edward Said once called the occupation an “atrocity” and the peace process “a disheartening bloody impasse… reduce the Palestinian actuality to nil, to efface Palestinians as a people with legitimate rights, to render them alien in their own land.”
Israeli repression reached new extremes under Netanyahu. His government is Israel’s worst ever. He exceeds the worst of Ariel Sharon and previous hard-line leaders.
On December 25, Haaretz writer Barak Ravid headlined, “Netanyahu: Israel will not negotiate with Palestinians should Hamas join government,” saying:
Netanyahu vowed no talks if Fatah and Hamas unite for all Palestinians. In a speech at a conference for Israeli ambassadors, he said:

“If Hamas joins the Palestinian government, we will not hold negotiations with the Palestinian Authority….The peace process can only advance while maintaining security arrangements, which is becoming more difficult in light of the current situation in the region.”

In April, Hamas and Fatah announced reconciliation and plans for transitional government ahead of presidential and parliamentary elections within a year to produce unity. Currently, they’re set for May 2012.

Netanyahu reacted angrily saying, “choose between peace with Israel or peace with Hamas.” Reconciliation shows “weakness,” he added. “There cannot be peace” if both sides unite. “What happened….in Cairo is a tremendous blow to peace and a great victory for terrorism.”
Despite reservations on both sides, signing ceremony comments signaled hope. Abbas suggested turning a page, saying:

“Four black years have affected the interests of Palestinians. Now we meet to assert a unified will. Israel is using the Palestinian reconciliation as an excuse to evade (peace. It) must choose between peace and settlement.”

Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal said:

“Hamas was ready to pay any price for internal Palestinian reconciliation. The only battle of the Palestinians is against Israel. Our aim is to establish a free and completely sovereign Palestinian state on the West Bank and Gaza strip, whose capital is Jerusalem, without any settlers and without giving up a single inch of land and without giving up on the right of return.”

In mid-December, Abbas and Mashaal met again in Cairo after Hamas and Islamic Jihad announced Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) membership plans.

They’ll form a committee ahead of next May’s presidential, parliamentary and Palestinian National Council (PLC) elections. Once held, they’ll join the PLO as sole legitimate Palestinian representative.

Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded supportively, saying “Moscow welcomes the serious talks between the Palestinian factions that aim to end Palestinian division.”

According to the Turkish Anatolian news agency, so did Ankara. It also praised Egypt’s sponsoring role.

On December 24, French Foreign Ministry spokesman Bernard Valero announced full support, saying:
“This is an important element for the unity of the future State of Palestine, and in that sense, this reconciliation is in Israel’s future interests.”

He added that reconciliation depends on Israel ending Gaza’s siege, as well as both sides denouncing violence and respecting past agreements.

During Bethlehem’s Christmas midnight mass, Latin Patriarch Fouad Twal called Palestinian self-determination the main thrust for achieving peace, adding:

“We ask for peace for the Palestinian people and for the Israeli people. We ask for peace, stability and security for the entire Middle East so that our children and their children may live their childhood in innocence, in a healthy environment where they may play together without fear or complex.”

Israel and Washington, of course, remain significant obstacles very much unresolved.
Unity Discussions Scheduled to Continue

In late January, unity discussions will continue to select transitional government members until elections. In February, Palestine’s parliament will resume operations.

At issue is Israel’s response. Elections in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem depend on cooperation. In 2005, Israel manipulated the process for Abbas.

Leading opposition figure Marwan Barghouti was imprisoned on bogus murder charges. In addition, Mustafa Barghouti’s candidacy was sabotaged for “demand(ing) total and complete reform, (ending all) form(s) of corruption, (and) mismanagement, and (working to) consolidate the rule of law.”

As a result, Israel arrested him while campaigning, expelled him from East Jerusalem, excluded him from Nablus and Gaza, harassed and intimidated him repeatedly, and effectively rigged the process for Abbas.

In 2012, Israel may either prevent Palestinian elections with Hamas candidates or sabotage them to assure Israeli-friendly officials only gain power.

Another obstacle involves registering Palestinians worldwide to participate and letting them vote in PLO mission offices. Doing so depends on cooperation from countries where they live.
The PNC will have 350 delegates, 150 from the Territories and 200 diaspora ones. PNC Chairman Salim Zanoun has his hands full. He heads a committee charged with making this possible. Doing so’s not easy. Nor is it for millions of occupied Palestinians or diaspora ones prevented from returning home.

According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), Palestinians worldwide number 11.22 million as of yearend 2011. About 4.23 million live in Palestine (including 1.6 million in Gaza), another 1.37 million in Israel, 4.99 million in Arab countries, and around 636,000 in other countries.
PCBS also said 44% of those in Palestine are refugees – 42% in the West Bank and 58% in Gaza. Numerous others live in Arab countries, notably Lebanon, Jordan and Syria.

Ultranationalist Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s extremism is also troubling. Repeatedly he said Israel won’t return to 1967 borders. Settlement expansions will continue, and doing so’s no obstacle to peace. In fact, they violate international law and obstruct any possibility of resolution.
Targeting Hamas at Israel’s Behest

Baseless accusations are Israel’s stock in trade. In January 1995, at its behest, the State Department duplicitously declared Hamas a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

Its emergence began after 1967. In the late 1970s, Israel offered financial aid to counterbalance PLO influence. During the first Intifada (1987 – 1993), it gained prominence. Israel remained supportive.
At issue was manipulating both sides to prevent peace. Like America, Israel needs enemies to justify conflict and violence. Hamas was chosen strategically to advance Palestinian divisions.

In Arabic, Hamas means courage and bravery. Since established, it’s resisted oppression and occupation. It prefers negotiation and international consensus, not violence.

However, its charter says it’ll fight for its rights if Israel prevents peaceful reconciliation. It rejects Zionist intentions to destroy Palestinian society, its values and “wipe out Islam.”

It calls itself “a humane movement, which cares for human rights and is committed to the tolerance inherent in Islam as regards attitudes towards other religions. It is only hostile to those who are hostile towards it….(Under Islam) it is possible for the members of the three religions: Islam, Christianity and Judaism to coexist in safety and security” as long as other religions “desist from struggling against Islam over sovereignty in this region.”

It wants peace, equity and justice for all Palestinians. It prefers negotiating on the basis of “hudnah” or temporary truce. It’s founder, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, said Hamas would end its liberating struggle “if the Zionists ended their occupation of Palestinian territories and stopped killing Palestinian women, children and innocent civilians.”

It current leaders are willing to recognize Israel in return for self-determination in peace inside pre-1967 borders – 22% of historic Palestine. Moreover, numerous times it agreed to unilateral ceasefires in spite of repeated Israeli violations.

Nonetheless, it responses defensively after continued provocations. Washington and Israel call it “terrorism.” Under international law, it’s legitimate self-defense.

Besides being Palestine’s legitimate government, Hamas provides vital social services, including medical clinics, education, free meals for children, help for orphans, financial and technical assistance for homeless families, aid to refugees, special youth and sports clubs, and more as their resources allow.

It also maintains an elite military wing for self-defense, policing and security, the Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades.

It wants equitable peace and reconciliation. So do Arabs and Jews. Israel and its Washington paymaster/partner choose violence. That Gordian Knot remains to be cut.

Sudan Accuses Israel over Air Strike

Sudan has accused the Zionist entity of carrying out an air strike that killed two people in a car near the city of Port Sudan on Tuesday.

Foreign Minister Ali Ahmad Karti said one man was Sudanese, but the identity of the other passenger was unknown.

There has been no comment from the Zionist entity so far. But correspondents say ‘Israel’ believes the car was carrying weapons to be smuggled through the region to Gaza.

Karti said the air strike was an attempt to damage Sudan’s reputation.
It was intended to disrupt the process of removing Sudan from the list of states that sponsor terrorism, he added.

The car was hit about 15km (nine miles) south of Port Sudan on Tuesday.

There is confusion as to whether the car was hit by a plane, helicopters or a missile fired from outside Sudan.
Karti said one of the victims was an innocent civilian and efforts were being made to discover the identity of the second man.

“The attack was carried out by Israel. We are absolutely sure of this,” Karti was quoted as saying by AFP news agency.

So far no-one has claimed to have carried out the attack.

The car had been travelling into the city from the airport, one Sudanese official said.

Former Chief of Mossad: We welcome a dialogue with the Salafis

‘Former chief of Mossad, MK of the Labor Party, Danny Yatom declared that “the situation in Egypt is disturbing, though those in power in Cairo were trying to maintain peace, but there are big concerns that they might not succeed, because we know that the weakness of the central authority in Egypt is increasing.”

“The unrest in Cairo shows the lack of control by the Egyptian authorities that should enforce order and security in the Sinai, and as a result, Egypt is losing control of the peninsula, and anyone who wishes to execute a sabotaging operation against “Israel” will feel freer and will have lots of options to do so,” he stated. Yatom added that “the growing Islamic movements and Islamic extremists in Egypt, mainly the Salafis, requires admitting that they do not reject dialogue with us, and certainly we must have a dialogue with all the parties in power in Egypt without any exception in order to have an effect on them, even slightly, depending on the way in which they will address to us.”

“However, the Salafis’ ideology is more extreme than the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood, for when it comes to “Israel” they do not want to see it on the map, but if they changed their minds, on the contrary, we’ll feel happy to talk with them,” he confirmed.

“The tension in Egypt is festering between two parties, the first is led by the army, which is the secular movement; and the second is led by those who claim that the army stole the revolution from them, and that it’s an extension of “Mubarak’s regime,” Yatom mentioned.

Moreover, some people alleged that the Islamists of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafi “al-Nour” Party have made a deal behind the scenes with the army, whereby in the event of winning the elections they will formulate the parliament and the future government, and in exchange the army will relinquish its office and will gain capacities that affects the political course in Egypt.

“I don’t know if this is true, yet I assume that these two parties will eventually clash; the army representing secularism and Muslim Brotherhood-Salafis representing the most extreme Islamic ideology, then a clash might take place. We should follow-up on the events of Egypt very closely,” he said.

South Sudanese President: “Israel” is the Role Model

The South Sudanese president, Salva Ki’ir expressed his excitement to set foot on the Promised Land, and said that the establishment of two states, “Israel” and South Sudan, is very similar, pointing to the great support provided by “Israel” to establish their state, and adding that he views “Israel” as a role model state.

\by the United Nations as an independent country around six months ago, is of a Christian majority.

The consolidation of relations between “Israel” and this country falls within the “Israeli” efforts to form a front of Christian countries in Africa to defy the Islamic extremists whose strength is boosting in the north of this the continent.

South Sudan Approved to Absorb African Infiltrators to “Israel”

Knesset Member Danny Danon (Likud), who heads the Committee for Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs, said that “the state of South Sudan is ready to absorb 10 thousand infiltrators in “Israel””. Danon added that South Sudan has asked “Israel” to assist them in areas of infrastructure, communications and agriculture.

Danon revealed that South Sudan has agreed to absorb the African refugees who entered “Israel” from other African countries such as Eritrea, adding that since the establishment of the State of South Sudan half a year ago, 100 to 400 refugees southern Sudanese left “Israel” and returned to their homeland in exchange for $ 500 per capita paid by “Israel”.

He pointed out that “the readiness of South Sudan will help in reducing the number of African infiltrators to “Israel”, which according to the official data are nearly fifty thousand, many of whom came from Eritrea.

Danon described the approval of South Sudan to absorb infiltrators as a “great achievement”. He suggested that “the prison camp built to detain African refugees in “Israel” should be built in Africa instead, and “Israel” should grant a financial compensation to the State that agrees to set up the camp within its territory.”

He considered that “the cost of building such a prison camp in Africa is cheaper, plus it would pass a message to the infiltrators that, in all cases, they will not be able to stay in “Israel”, and Prime Minister (Netanyahu) seconded this idea but haven’t yet implemented it.”

On South Sudan, Danon stated, “I think the new nation should be strengthened, which is a Christian minority within a Muslim majority. Strengthening the cooperation with them on infiltrators benefits both sides; on one hand, they gain an economic advantage and on the other hand, “Israel” reduces the infiltrators into its territory”.
