Don’t laugh – Israel’s weekly claim that Iran could have nukes within weeks

I think Israel has been making claims of this sort every week since around 1985. It doesn’t alter the fact that there’s no evidence at all that Iran is making nuclear bombs or even wants nuclear weapons. Of course if Israel has any evidence to the contrary they should give it to the UN and IAEA, still don’t hold your breath on that one.

Israel on the other hand really does have nuclear weapons and refuses to comply with International Law.

Naftali Bennett, Israel’s Economy and Commerce Minister, warned this morning that if the U.S. decides to relax economic sanctions on Iran, and does not insist on its dismantling its uranium enrichment capability, Iran will be able to manufacture a bomb in only 6 weeks, an obvious threat to the survival of Israel. It is this very sharp policy difference with the U.S. that is causing increased tension in the relationship between the two nations.

Bennett, the leader of the ultra-nationalist Jewish Home Party, also told a group of investment bankers and lawyers at the Skadden Arps law firm headquarters in Times Square that if Iran is allowed to build a nuclear bomb, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf States like Abu Dhabi and Dubai will feel the need to arm themselves as well, which will trigger a dangerous competition for deadly weapons in the Middle East.
