Never before seen video footage of this year’s battle in east Damascus

BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:00 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has been on the offensive in east Damascus recently, capturing large parts of the Al-Qaboun and Tishreen districts that have been under jihadist control for over five years.

Despite their ongoing success, the month of April did not necessarily start off on the right footing for the Syrian Army in east Damascus, as they were the recipients of a large attack by Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham in the Al-Qaboun Industrial Area and ‘Abbasiyeen axis.

In a matter of hours, the jihadist rebels had seized the ‘Abbasiyeen Bus Station and the entire Industrial Area of Al-Qaboun, forcing the Syrian Arab Army fully withdraw after suffering heavy casualties from a suicide bombing.

Two days after the jihadist offensive, the Syrian Arab Army’s 42nd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division and 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard launched a counter-attack of their own, which ultimately led to their forces recapturing all of the territory they lost, plus new ground around Al-Qaboun.

The 40 minute long video footage above shows this intense battle that raged for the entire month of April.
