Lest We Forget-Netanyahu to EU states: ‘Pressure Brussels to change its attitude toward Israel’

The Ugly Truth

Jpost

According to a statement issued by the PMO, Netanyahu protested the EU’s formal positions on Israel, and accused Brussels of employing a “double standard” toward Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday called on individual EU states to pressure the European Commission to change its “double standard” toward Israel.

Netanyahu’s call came during a meeting with visiting Estonian Foreign Minister Marina Kaljurand.

“European states need to pressure the European Commission to change its attitude toward Israel,” Netanyahu told Kaljurand, who served as Estonia’s ambassador to Israel from 2004 to 2006.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Netanyahu protested the EU’s formal positions on Israel and accused Brussels of employing a “double standard.”

The European Commission is the EU’s executive body responsible for implementing decisions and running the EU’s day-to-day business. It is based in Brussels and Luxembourg.

Netanyahu has ramped up his public criticism of the EU since it adopted a policy regarding the labeling of products from settlements last November, while carefully drawing a distinction between Israel’s good relationship with most individual EU states and its poor relationship with the Commission in Brussels.

He repeated that position during his meeting with Kaljurand.

Estonia is one of the 28 countries that makes up the EU and is considered among the more supportive states toward Israel inside EU institutions. When EU members split their vote on Israel- related matters in international forums, as they often do, it generally sides with the bloc that either votes for Israel or abstains.

Estonia was one of five EU countries that, along with the US, voted against a UNESCO Executive Board resolution in October that condemned Israeli “aggression” on the Temple Mount. Four other EU countries – Spain, Italy, France and Austria – only abstained. And in the resolution to raise the Palestinian flag at the UN, which passed last September, Estonia was among the group of 18 EU countries that abstained, while France, Belgium, Ireland, Spain and Sweden were among the 10 that voted in favor.

Last week, the EU’s foreign ministers, making up the Foreign Affairs Council, issued conclusions on the Middle East that were highly critical of Israel.

However, intervention inside the EU by countries such as Greece and Cyprus – states with which Israel has developed much closer ties over the last few of years – prevented the adoption of language that would have been even more critical.

In a related matter, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, along with a number of his ministers, will arrive in Jerusalem on Wednesday for a government- to-government meeting.

Tsipras and Netanyahu will travel to Cyprus the following day for a tripartite meeting with Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades.

Syria condemns Brussels terrorist attacks, says they are result of wrong policies in favor of terrorism

Foreign-and-Expatriates-Ministry.......

Damascus, SANA – Syria expressed strong condemnation of the terrorist attacks in Brussels, saying they are “an inevitable consequence of wrong policies”.

Dozens of people have been killed and others have been reported injured as several terrorist attacks hit at Zaventem Airport and Maelbeek metro station in the Belgium capital earlier on Tuesday.

An official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry voiced Syria’s condemnation and its “condolences and sympathy” with the families of the victims.

Today’s attacks in Brussels and others that previously took place in Paris and elsewhere in the world stress once again that terrorism has no boundaries, the source said, speaking in a statement to SANA.

These attacks, the source added, are “an inevitable consequence of the wrong policies and of tolerance for terrorism to realize certain agendas and attempts to legitimize it through trying to classify as “moderate” terrorist groups that are actually but offshoots of the Takfiri Wahhabi doctrine.”

The source renewed Syria’s call for uniting sincere international efforts to confront terrorism which it has been fighting for five years now.

Concerted efforts are needed to curb the conduct of the countries supporting terrorism and compel them to stop providing support to the terrorist organizations in any form in preservation of the peace and stability of the region and world, the source added.

Is the ISIS Behind the Brussels Attacks? Who is Behind the ISIS?

Is the ISIS Behind the Brussels Attacks? Who is Behind the ISIS?

Dramatic loss of life in the terror attacks in Brussels: 34 killed and more than 180 wounded according to the latest reports.

Prior to the conduct of a police investigation, in the hours following the attacks, the Western media went into overdrive, intimating without evidence that the Islamic State (ISIS) operating out of Raqqa, Northern Syria was responsible for the attacks.

According to the Independent “Isis supporters have been celebrating the Brussels attacks online [social media] as speculation mounts that the group is behind a wave of deadly attacks in the Belgian capital.”

The report is based on information emanating from social media, which does not constitute a  reliable source of information.

An unknown self-proclaimed news agency (Amaq Agency) allegedly representing the ISIS provided the following report:

This mysterious agency was then immediately quoted by Reuters in an authoritiative report.

In turn, alleged supporters of ISIS on twitter were quoted. According to the Jerusalem Post (March 21, 2016):

The “tears of joy” that were shed by ISIS supporters on Twitter are also related to the fact that the terrorists succeeded in paralyzing the activity in the airport attacked. One of ISIS’ main declared goals is to devastate the Western economy and replace the dollar with its own coin as the only international legal tender.

Who Controls the ISIS social media and twitter accounts?

Police and intelligence are often aware of the identity of  ISIS social media, IP addresses, geographic location.

According to London’s Mirror (December 16, 2015):

Hackers have claimed that a number of Islamic State supporters’ social media accounts are being run from internet addresses linked to the [UK  government] Department of Work and Pensions.

A group of four young computer experts who call themselves VandaSec have unearthed evidence indicating that at least three ISIS-supporting accounts can be traced back to the DWP.

Every computer and mobile phone logs onto the internet using an IP address, which is a type of identification number.

The hacking collective showed Mirror Online details of the IP addresses used by a trio of separate digital jihadis to access Twitter accounts, which have been used to spread extremist propaganda.

At first glance, the IP addresses seem to be based in Saudi Arabia, but upon further inspection using specialist tools they appeared to link back to the DWP.  ..

[T]he British government sold on a large number of IP addresses to two Saudi Arabian firms.

After the sale completed in October of this year, they were used by extremists to spread their message of hate.

Jamie Turner, an expert from a firm called PCA Predict, discovered a record of the sale of IP addresses, and found a large number were transferred to Saudi Arabia in October of this year.

He told us it was likely the IP addresses could still be traced back to the DWP because records of the addresses had not yet been fully updated.

What the Daily Mirror report suggests (as well as other reports) is that the IP addresses of the ISIS are indirectly linked to the British government, i.e. 1) the identity of the ISIS social media is  invariable known to police authorities, and 2) The ISIS social media are sponsored by Saudi Arabia, which is also involved in the recruitment and training of terrorists in liaison with US-NATO.

It is worth noting that the British government has acknowledged its responsibility:

The Cabinet Office has now admitted to selling the IP addresses on to Saudi Telecom and the Saudi-based Mobile Telecommunications Company earlier this year as part of a wider drive to get rid of a large number of the DWP’s IP addresses. (Mirror, op cit cit, emphasis added)

The State Sponsors of Terrorism

The events in Brussels raises the broader question: who is behind the ISIS?

Israel intelligence sources (DEBKA) in a 2011 report confirmed the role of NATO operating out of its Brussels headquarters and Turkey’s high command in the training and recruitment of terrorists:

NATO headquarters in Brussels and the Turkish high command are meanwhile drawing up plans for their first military step in Syria, which is to arm the rebels with weapons for combating the tanks and helicopters spearheading the Assad regime’s crackdown on dissent. … NATO strategists are thinking more in terms of pouring large quantities of anti-tank and anti-air rockets, mortars and heavy machine guns into the protest centers for beating back the government armored forces. (DEBKAfile, NATO to give rebels anti-tank weapons, August 14, 2011)

This initiative, which was also supported by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, involved a process of organized recruitment of thousands of jihadist “freedom fighters”, reminiscent of  the enlistment of  Mujahideen to wage the CIA’s jihad (holy war) in the heyday of the Soviet-Afghan war:

Also discussed in Brussels and Ankara, our sources report, is a campaign to enlist thousands of Muslim volunteers in Middle East countries and the Muslim world to fight alongside the Syrian rebels. The Turkish army would house these volunteers, train them and secure their passage into Syria. (Ibid, emphasis added)

These mercenaries were subsequently integrated into US and allied sponsored terrorist organizations including Al Nusrah and ISIS.

And then in August 2014, Obama launched his counter-terrorism campaign. Yet the evidence confirms that instead of destroying the ISIS, the US and its allies including Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Israel were in fact protecting the ISIS.

Again according to the Daily Mirror in a 2015 report, the counterterrorism campaign was conducive to ISIS doubling the territory under its control, until the launching of the Russian intervention in late September 2015.

Sheer Incompetence of  the US Air Force (doubtful) or Washington’s complicity in protecting the terrorists?

Recently the release of the Hillary Clinton email archive as well as leaked Pentagon documents confirm that the US and its allies were supportive of ISIS, which are according to press reports, the alleged architects of the Brussels attacks.

The 7-page Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) document dated August of 2012, points to US complicity in supporting the creation of an Islamic State:

90 potential suicide bombers ‘roaming’ EU
[French Interior Ministry report reveals]

(RT Question More, 21/3/2016) ~ A chilling internal French police report has revealed that as many as 90 “kamikazes” may be roaming the EU. The report also states how terrorists are mastering encryption and bomb making techniques to help them achieve their aims.

The 55-page testimony, which was produced exclusively for the French Interior Ministry and was seen by the New York Times, shows the scale of planning that went into the November 13 Paris terror attacks, including precise encryption, top level document forgers and even sending bomb makers from Syria to Europe.

The documents included interviews with both officials and witnesses and showed how Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) has evolved into being able to carry out terror attacks on such a grand scale.

The report shows that the bombs used by the terrorists were simple to make, but very effective. They found traces of the same explosives used at each of the sites in Paris which were attacked by suicide bombers.

The bomb maker who made the explosives had used triacetone triperoxide, or TATP, which can be made from everyday products such as bleach or nail polish remover – items which could be purchased without raising suspicion. However, the person putting the explosives together certainly knew what he or she was doing.

“Their ingredients, when combined, are highly unstable and can explode easily if mishandled,” said Peter Bergen, the director of the National Securities Studies Program at the New America Foundation, according to the New York Times.

“To make an effective TATP bomb requires real training, which suggests a relatively skilled bomb-maker was involved in the Paris plot, since the terrorists detonated several bombs. It also suggests that there was some kind of bomb factory that, as yet, appears to be undiscovered, because putting together such bombs requires some kind of dedicated space,” he added.

The report also states that a lack of border controls allowed the terrorists to move freely around Europe without arousing suspicion, while the inability of international governments to share intelligence also made it easier for the jihadists to avoid detection.

“We don’t share information,” former head of French intelligence Alain Chouet told the New York Times. “We even didn’t agree on the translations of people’s names that are in Arabic or Cyrillic, so if someone comes into Europe through Estonia or Denmark, maybe that’s not how we register them in France or Spain.”

The documents released by French police also showed that the attackers did their utmost to keep themselves digitally hidden from the authorities. Police found numerous unused cell phones still in their packaging. There were also discarded phones which showed a number of calls had been made between Paris and Belgium – suggesting that the attackers had support from further afield.

It was also revealed following interviews with hostages at the Bataclan theater that the terrorists had also seized cell phones from those being kept against their will in order to access the internet, without leaving any data trails that the authorities could later trace.

Discarded phones that belonged to the terrorists also revealed detailed maps of the theater’s layout, suggesting that they had meticulously planned their operation.

One of the hostages noticed that a terrorist was using a laptop computer. However, when he turned it on, all she could see was lines of text on the screen.

“It was bizarre — he was looking at a bunch of lines, like lines of code. There was no image, no internet,” she said, according to the New York Times.

Following the November 13 attacks, police tried to piece together the movements of the attackers, and the authorities hope the arrest of Salah Abdeslam in Brussels on Friday will provide them with further clues.

Brussels Bombing: The True Implications of ISIS Links

March 23, 2016 (Tony Cartalucci – NEO) – Just days after arresting French-born Belgium national  and terror suspect Salah Abdeslam in Brussels, a coordinated terror attack unfolded in the very same city, killing at least 28, and injuring many more.

NBC News has already announced that European officials are linking the attack to ISIS, though it is unclear whether or not Abdeslam’s network – which carried out the November 2015 Paris terror attacks – was directly involved.

Abdeslam’s “Terror Ring”

Police in Brussels were still hunting for several other alleged accomplices of Abdeslam, including Najim Laachraoui and Mohamed Abrini.

Laachraoui and Abrini, like virtually every other suspect involved in a string of terrorist attacks across North America, Europe, and Australia, were well known to Western security agencies, having both been documented as having traveled to Syria to fight against Damascus under ISIS, with Abrini having been arrested and jailed several times in the past, and Laachraoui already having a 2014 international arrest warrant issued for him in connection to a trial involving recruiting Europeans to fight for ISIS.

The International Business Times would report in their article, “Manhunt for last Isis Paris attacks fugitives: Who are Najim Laachraoui and Mohamed Abrini?,” that:

Mohamed Abrini, 31, is among Europe’s most wanted fugitives since he was filmed with Abdeslam at a petrol station on a highway to Paris on 11 November aboard a Renault Clio that was used in the attacks two days later. Described as “armed and dangerous” in a European arrested warrant the Belgian-Moroccan is believed to have travelled to Syria after serving short stints in jail for petty crime and robberies.

The Independent would report in an article titled, “Najim Laachraoui: Belgian police launch manhunt for suspect who could have made suicide belts for Paris attacks,” that:

Laachraoui is thought to have studied electro-mechanical engineering at a Catholic high school in Schaerbeek, the Institut de la Sainte-Famille d’helmet, graduating in 2012. He was already known to be in Syria in 2013, and was the subject of an international arrest warrant in 2014.

And because Laachraoui’s DNA is alleged to have been found at several scenes linked to the terror network, it appears that he too may have been in custody at least long enough to provide a DNA sample as a reference to now match him to evidence collected in the aftermath of the 2015 Paris attacks.

And even regarding Abdeslam himself, the BBC would report in their article, “Paris attacks: Who were the attackers?,” that:

Some reports have said he spent time in prison for robbery where he met suspected ringleader Abdelhamid Abaaoud. He had earlier been sacked as a technician on the Brussels tram system, for missing work. Dutch police said they had detained Salah Abdeslam briefly in February, fining him €70 (£49) for possession of cannabis.

In other words, all of the suspects have been under the nose, on the radar, and in the prisons of Western security agencies on and off for years, yet were still able to carry out at least one high profile terrorist attack – possibly two, and with the vast majority of the suspects involved having traveled to Syria to fight alongside ISIS before inexplicably being allowed to re-enter Europe and rejoin society without consequence – as if inviting them to take their extremism to the next level.

Brussels Bombing Already Being Linked to ISIS

The Guardian’s “Brussels attack: were they revenge for Abdeslam’s arrest?,” attempted to link the bombings in Brussels to the arrest of Abdeslam and the Paris attack terror network. The op-ed acknowledges that these terrorist attacks are being carried out by locals – Europeans – using local resources.

Should the Brussels attack be linked to this same terror network, it will greatly complicate efforts by some to leverage this tragedy to further their agendas against refugees and even to change the dynamics of the war in Syria itself.

Europeans are clearly already being radicalized and then leaving to Syria to fight alongside ISIS and then returning – rather than a torrent of foreigners streaming in from abroad and carrying out violence against European targets.

Should the Brussels attack turn out to be the work of this ISIS-linked terror group, considering the familiarity European security agencies had with all the suspects long before even the 2015 Paris attacks, indicates criminal negligence at best, and complicity at worst.

But even if the attacks are the work of foreign ISIS militants, one should consider the West’s admitted role in the creation and perpetuation of ISIS in the first place.

The West Created ISIS as a Weapon of Geopolitical Coercion

ISIS’ own alleged agenda of transforming the world into a “caliphate” is cartoonishly absurd. In reality, it is clear that ISIS shows up and exercises force in regions of the world the US and its allies cannot intervene in directly. This includes North Africa, the Middle East, and even as far as Asia.

Far from a “conspiracy theory,” it would be the US’ own Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) that would admit as much in a leaked 2012 report (.pdf) which stated:

If the situation unravels there is the possibility of establishing a declared or undeclared Salafist principality in eastern Syria (Hasaka and Der Zor), and this is exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime, which is considered the strategic depth of the Shia expansion (Iraq and Iran).

To clarify just who these “supporting powers” were that sought the creation of a “Salafist” (Islamic) principality” (State), the DIA report explains:

The West, Gulf countries, and Turkey support the opposition; while Russia, China, and Iran support the regime.

Between this admission, and an earlier exposé in 2007 by veteran journalist Seymour Hersh in his New Yorker piece titled, “The Redirection” where US and Saudi plans to use Al Qaeda to wage proxy war on Syria and Iran were revealed, it is clear that both Al Qaeda and ISIS are being used by the West to wage war on Damascus, Baghdad, Tehran, and even Moscow.

ISIS supply lines clearly, even admittedly run from NATO territory in Turkey where the US and its regional allies have categorically failed to interdict them and even appear to be aiding and abetting the flow of men and materiel into ISIS-held territory in Syria and Iraq. These supply lines are what has allowed pressure to be continuously placed upon Damascus and its allies over the past 5 years in ways nonexistent “moderate rebels” couldn’t.

In Indonesia, as Jakarta clearly began re-balancing toward Beijing, ISIS carried out its first deadly attack on the Southeast Asian nation. Thailand’s similar re-balancing also prompted threats from the US that an “ISIS attack” was imminent.

In Europe, where the flames of a “clash of civilizations” are being furiously and intentionally fanned, ISIS serves as a constant implement to empower extremists on both sides, while drowning out the voices of unity, moderation, and peace in the middle. It allows for a growing police state and xenophobic tendencies to flourish at home, while justifying further war abroad.

While some Western newspapers are already trying to frame the Belgium attack as “incompetence” by European security agencies, there must be a better explanation as to why this “war with ISIS” continues to drag on, when the source of ISIS’ fighting capacity appears to be within rather than beyond the West – and aiding rather than opposing Western special interests.

In the wake of today’s terror attack and the ones to come…

Tractatus Terroismo Philosophicus

By Gilad Atzmon

If terrorism is the use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims

then to surrender to terror is to become a terrorist

To surrender to terror is to retaliate using violence and genocidal tactics in the pursuit of Globalist political aims

But the West can’t become a terrorist

For the West was already a terrorist

For decades we have been using violence and genocidal tactics against Muslims in the name of Coca Cola and Zion

To fight terrorism for real is to say NO to an ‘eye for an eye’

To defeat terrorism is to turn the other cheek

To eliminate terrorism is to look at ourselves and ask why?

Why do they hate us? What did we do to deserve all this?

To beat terrorism is to depart from Jerusalem and return to Athens

Can we do that or must we emancipate ourselves first?

34 Dead, Dozens Injured in Powerful blasts At Brussels Airport, Metro Station

Local Editor

It is a black day for Belgium as its capital has been hit by a series of explosions that caused scores of deaths and injuries in the city’s airport and metro station.

28 Dead, Scores Injured in Brussels' Airport, Metro Station Explosions

A twin explosion tore through the departure hall of Brussels’ Zaventem airport on Tuesday morning killing up to 14 people and injuring at least 30 others, Belgian media said.

The agency said shots were fired and there were shouts in Arabic shortly before the explosions.

Reports indicated that one of the explosions took place near the American Airlines check-in desk.

A government source confirmed that it was an attack, while Anke Fransen, spokeswoman for Brussels Airport, said there were multiple injuries. “We can confirm that there have been two explosions in the departure hall. We called the emergency services on the ground – they [are] now provid[ing] first aid to the injured.”

The reports citing a firefighter said that other explosive devices had been discovered at the airport.

28 Dead, Scores Injured in Brussels' Airport, Metro Station Explosions

Another explosion occurred at the Maalbeek metro station in Brussels that had killed at least 20 people while a further 10 people had been injured, according to local police, as cited by RTBF television.

The explosion took place less than an hour after a deadly bombing at the Zaventem airport.

Minutes after the blast at Maalbeek, a second explosion was reported to have taken place at the near-by Schuman metro station. Images on social media showed passengers being evacuated from inside the metro and walking along the train tracks.

“It is just a pure chaos at the moment on the streets,” Annie Machon, a former intelligence officer for MI5 who lives in a Belgium capital indicated.

“The metro bombing was in Maalbeek, which is indeed 5 minutes down the road from me. The whole of the area is just now in lockdown, the sirens going off everywhere, there are helicopters overhead,” she added.

The Maalbeek station is also near a number of important EU buildings such as Berlaymont building, which houses the EU Commission and the Council of the European Union.

Staff working at the EU commission had also been told to stay indoors.

Belgian authorities had raised the security alert to the highest level following blasts at the Zaventem Airport and Maalbeek Metro station.

28 Dead, Scores Injured in Brussels' Airport, Metro Station Explosions

Due to the current security situation in Brussels, the city’s transport authority closed all public transport services.

Eurostar had taken the decision in the wake of the attacks to cancel trains running to and from Brussels on Tuesday. Staff had told people not to come to the station and that tickets can be exchanged for free.

“No trains are currently running to or from Brussels Midi,” the high speed rail service said on its Twitter feed, as cited by Reuters. “Brussels customers are advised to postpone, and not come to station.”

Meanwhile, a crisis center in Brussels has been telling members of the public to “stay where you are.” The Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel had also issued a similar plea to the people of Brussels.

The general public in the Belgian capital was advised not to call friends and family as the phone networks were becoming saturated. Instead, people were asked to text or use social media in order to stay in touch with friends and family.Brussels blasts

In the meantime, it is official that the Brussels airport explosions are considered a terrorist attack, according to an official communique from the Belgian government.

The Belgian broadcaster VRT reported that the blasts were carried out by a suicide bomber. They come just four days after Salah Abdeslam, the mastermind behind the November Paris Attacks that killed 130 people, was arrested in Belgium.

Belgian intelligence had advance knowledge of plans to carry out terrorist attacks in the country but was unaware of their time or location, the French BFMTV reported Tuesday, citing police sources.
