Islamic Jihad Warns: Tel Aviv To Be Bombed In Case Of Assassinations

Nov 25, 2021

By Staff, Agencies

Palestinian Islamic Jihad waned the Zionist entity that Tel Aviv will be bombarded if the occupying regime assassinates members of the resistance movement.

The movement’s leader Ziyad al-Nakhala vowed on Wednesday to continue the path pursued by Baha Abu al-Ata, a senior commander of the Gaza-based group’s military wing – the al-Quds Brigades – who was assassinated in an ‘Israeli’ airstrike on the besieged Gaza Strip two years ago.

“We do not rule out the possibility of assassination or targeting of commanders and members of the Islamic Jihad movement, and our reaction is the immediate bombardment of Tel Aviv,” Beirut-based al-Mayadeen TV quoted him as saying.

Abu al-Ata and his wife were martyred in an Israeli airstrike targeting their home in the Gaza Strip on November 12, 2019. The raid also wounded four of their children and a neighbor, triggering confrontations between ‘Israeli’ occupation forces and Gaza-based resistance fighters.

According to the Islamic Jihad, Abu al-Ata played a major role in carrying out operations against the ‘Israeli’ occupation entity.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Nakhala said the recent retaliatory operation, carried out by Sheikh Fadi Abu Shkhaydam, in the Old City of al-Quds, was a “lesson” for the occupying entity and its mercenaries.

On Sunday, ‘Israeli’ troops fatally shot Abu Shkhaydam, a leader of the Palestinian Hamas resistance movement, near one of the entrances to the al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Zionist media reported that Abu Shkhaydam had opened fire at ‘Israelis’ by a Beretta M12 submachine gun before being shot dead at the scene.

Hamas said the retaliatory attack was the “price” for the ‘Israeli’ actions in occupied al-Quds, adding, “The message of the heroic operation is a warning for the criminal enemy and its government to stop the attacks on our land and our holy sites. [‘Israel’] will pay a price for the iniquities it commits against al-Aqsa Mosque, Silwan, Sheikh Jarrah and elsewhere.”

Nakhala predicted that the Zionist regime was unlikely to wage an attack on the besieged Gaza Strip because of its consequences.

“The resistance is ready to respond to any ‘Israeli’ act of aggression. We can target all Zionist settlements simultaneously,” he said.

The Islamic Jihad leader further stressed that the resistance in Gaza had strengthened its weapons and military capabilities following the 11-day ‘Israeli’ war in May.

The resistance, Nakhala also noted, manufactures unmanned aerial vehicles [UAVs] inside the Gaza Strip.

Bahaa Abou Al-Ata…A Name Deeply Engraved within the Israeli Mind

Nov 20, 2021

By Hassan Lafi

Abou al-Ata was responsible for removing the “Master of Israeli Security” from the podium in an embarrassing fashion, which Netanyahu viewed as a personal insult.

Martyr Bahaa Abou el-Ata

The decision taken by “Israel” to assassinate Bahaa Abou al-Ata, the leader of the northern region in the Quds Brigades – the military faction of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine -, was certainly not a normal event. It took place on the dawn of Tuesday, 12 November 2019, and showcased a string of complicated Israeli calculations given that this assassination would be the first targeting a resistance commander since 2012, and occurred amidst a lack of tension or war.

Thus, the two Israeli institutions, the political and military, were aware that taking this decision would certainly break the equation sanctified by the Palestinian resistance, which stipulates that any assassination equals a war.

Subsequently, the assassination of Abou al-Ata, for “Israel”, was a declaration of a military battle with the resistance in Gaza. And certainly, the Israeli intelligence assessments know very well that the shrapnel of the Gaza rockets in that battle will not be confined to the borders of the settlements around the Gaza Strip and the south, but will rather reach deep into the “Gush Dan” area, the most densely populated center in the occupied lands.

Nonetheless, this scenario occurred in the battle of “Sayhat al-Fajr” (The Cry of Dawn) which the al-Quds Brigades fought against “Israel.”

Two years after the assassination of Bahaa Abou al-Ata, the question still remains: what was the Israeli view of the Palestinian leader’s personality? And what did it represent in the Israeli mindset of both military and political institutions?

Amos Gilad, head of the Israeli Institute for Policy and Strategy (IPS) and former director of policy and political-military affairs at the Ministry of Security, answered when asked about Bahaa Abou el-Ata by saying: “He was the chief motivator for the Islamic Jihad’s operation, and possesses a strong and bold personality.”

Israeli Occupation Army Spokesman Heidi Zilberman did not diverge from Gilad’s assessment, saying to journalists following the assassination of Abou al-Ata that “Israel” understands well that the martyr was “a wild element, mostly working according to a point of view paradoxical to regional interests.” This confirms that the occupation dealt with the resistance leader as a major hurdle to its regional plans, the most important of which were:

First: “Israel” was in need of cooling down the Gaza front through understandings of instilling calm in exchange for humanitarian facilitations (on a humanitarian level). This approach turned, two years after the assassination of Abou al-Ata, into a full-fledged plan put forward by the Israeli foreign minister Yair Lapid, and adopted by his government, titled “Security in exchange for Economy”, away from any political dimensions related to the Palestinian rights as a people under occupation.

Second: The political leadership of the Israeli occupation at the time, represented by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, considered that the continuation of the “ninth hour” strategy, of which martyr Abou al-Ata was the icon, that maintains a state of perpetual conflict through engagement with “Israel,” negatively affects the impetus of some normalizing countries to steer towards “Tel Aviv”, which Netanyahu considered a major goal in his regional policies. Moreover, the name of Bahaa Abou al-Ata was engraved deeply in Netanyahu’s mind at two instances that had great impact on his policies and personality.

The first instance was Abu al-Ata’s crucial role in sanctifying the eye for an eye equation with the occupation, which came in defense of the peaceful protesters who were being assaulted during their “Return Marches” by the IOF. This equation engendered successive rounds of military escalations, becoming the main reason behind the toppling of Netanyahu’s government in November 2018 following the resignation of the then-Minister of Security, Avigdor Lieberman, who opposed accepting a ceasefire with the resistance in Gaza right after the “Ashkelon Hell” battle. Lieberman viewed this “compromise” as a capitulation on the part of Netanyahu’s government.

The second instance was al-Ata’s responsibility for removing Netenyahu, the so-called “master of Israeli security,” from the podium in an embarrassing fashion in front of his electoral audience in “Ashdod”. This incident was considered by the former PM as a personal insult to him that affected his entire political future, especially with the wide circulation of Abou al-Ata’s picture in Israeli media. Although this circulation aimed to send a threat to the Palestinian leader in order to hinder his work, the continuation of “Al-Quds Brigades”, under his leadership, in the engagement strategy, made him a permanent presence in the Israeli media. Every time Bahaa Abou al-Ata’s photo is published, the Israeli public recalls the humiliation of Netanyahu and his escape from Abou al-Ata’s missiles to the shelter.

Third: At the time, “Israel” was seeking to focus its efforts on the northern front and the Iranian nuclear project, taking advantage of the presence of US President Donald Trump in office. However, as the Gaza front continued to heat up through the engagement strategy, the occupation considered that the Islamic Jihad, as an effective part of the resistance axis, impeded these Israeli endeavors. Therefore, the Israeli occupation planes tried to assassinate in Damascus the commander of the military department in the Islamic Jihad movement, Akram al-Ajouri, whom “Tel Aviv” calls the military mastermind of the al-Quds Brigades, in tandem with their assassination of Abou al-Ata, who was considered the most powerful executive commander in the Brigades. Thus, “Israel” would have dealt a simultaneous double blow to the military mind and arm of the Islamic Jihad, in order to paralyze the military capacity of the al-Quds Brigades.

This strategy echoes the mistakes made in 1995 when former Israeli PM Yitzhak Rabin decided to assassinate the founder of the Islamic Jihad movement and its first secretary-general, Dr. Fathi Shaqaqi, believing that the movement was solely based on the person of Shaqaqi.

However, less than six months later, the Islamic Jihad was carrying out its first operations in “Tel Aviv,” in response to the assassination of martyr Shaqaqi, under the leadership of Dr. Ramadan Shallah back then, may God have mercy on him.

In the case of Bahaa Abou al-Ata, the Jihad movement, led by its Secretary-General Ziad al-Nakhala, did not wait extensively to prove to “Israel” the failure of its expectations: Half an hour after Abou al-Ata’s assassination, al-Quds Brigades fired a rocket barrage in the direction of the “Gush Dan” area, announcing the start of the “Sayhat al-Fajr” battle.

Al-Quds Brigades Military Council: We Will Surprise The Enemy

Al-Quds Brigades Military Council: We Will Surprise The Enemy

By Staff

Military wing of Palestine’s Islamic Jihad resistance movement, al-Quds Brigades, stressed that it is in a state of ultimate readiness for any future confrontation, adding that it has what would surprise the enemy.

On the 33rd anniversary of its launching, member of al-Quds Brigades military council, Abo Mohammad, announced that the group possesses “the capabilities that inflict losses upon the occupation,” stressing that the brigades will keep developing its military work.

Abo Mohammad added that “we’ve been able to impose the equation of deterrence with the Zionist occupation, especially that the Zionist enemy was transgressing everything without having redlines, the equation after 2012 has altered the rules of engagement and forced the Zionist entity not to kill our people.”

He also pointed to the major role of martyr Bahaa Abu al-Atta to deter the occupation and confuse its security system.

Abo Mohammad went on to say that “after 33 years, we recall the al-Quds Brigades’ first military formation, and the mission that was shouldered by the one who set the foundation for the military work towards Palestine,” stressing that its launching was to preserve the heritage of martyrs, especially those who sacrificed their lives to raise the resistance. They are the nucleus of the military work.”

The man also made clear that the military wing started with humble operations, but was able to develop and turn to be a hard number: “The al-Quds Brigades proved strong presence in all wars over the last three decades, dealing painful blows to the occupation. It was pioneer in striking major Zionist cities.”

Hamas Accuses Palestinian Authority of Aiding Zionist Entity to Kill Top Resistance Commander

Baha Abu al-Ata

December 30, 2019

Hamas Palestinian resistance group in the Gaza Strip said on Sunday that its security forces arrested a cell of Palestinian Authority intelligence officials, who collected information on Islamic Jihad leader Baha Abu al-Ata before he was assassinated by the Zionist entity in a targeted killing earlier last month.

Fatah, the party that dominates the PA, quickly pushed back on the accusation, claiming it was false.

Abu al-Ata and his wife were martyred on November 12, in an Israeli strike on his home in northern Gaza. Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza subsequently fired hundreds of rockets at Israel, which responded with retaliatory strikes.

After Abu al-Ata’s martyrdom, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described him as a “ticking time bomb” and “the main instigator of terrorism” from the coastal enclave, responsible for many rocket attacks on the occupied territories and planning more.

The Hamas Interior Ministry said in a statement Sunday that the cell of PA intelligence officers monitored the movements of Abu al-Ata for several months before he was killed.

It specifically said that the cell was ordered to follow the Islamic Jihad commander by Shaaban Abdullah al-Gharbawi, who it said is a PA General Intelligence Services officer responsible for Gaza.

A video released by the ministry said that there were six PA intelligence officers under Gharbawi’s command. It also stated that Gharbawi resides in Ramallah, suggesting that he was not in its custody.

The footage included a recording of what the ministry said was a phone call about Abu al-Ata between Gharbawi and a Shin Bet security service agent named “Berri.”

The video also purported to show footage of the airstrike that killed Abu al-Ata.

In its statement, the ministry announced that the security forces confiscated “technical materials” that confirm Gharbawi gave Shin Bet officers information about “the resistance’s abilities, plans and the movements of its members and leaders.”

Fatah rejected ministry’s allegations as “baseless lies aimed at covering up the secret understandings between Hamas and Israel.”

“This is a theater performance that has been woven together by Hamas’s delusions,” Fatah said in a statement.

Israel Commemorates the Assassination of Rabin with Another Massacre in Gaza

By Miko Peled

Fresh on the heels of commemorating the killing of Israeli icon Yitzhak Rabin, Israel launched a series of attacks and assassinations on Palestinians.

Jerusalem, Palestine — My short visit to Palestine in early November began around the time of the commemoration of Yitzhak Rabin’s assassination, went through the assassination by Israel of Islamic Jihad leader, Bahaa Abu Al-Atta and his wife in Gaza, and ended as Prime Minister Netanyahu, who should be indicted for his countless crimes against the Palestinian people, was indicted for low grade corruption (valued at about $200,000), pulling strings and lying. And as always, Palestinians continue to bury their dead as Israelis bury their heads in the sand.

In a tweet following the assassination of Al-Atta, Dr. Basem Naim, Head of Council on International Relations, correctly wrote that the Israeli leadership is “pushing the area into war to escape its internal failures.” Not long after that Israel bombed both Gaza and Syria.

Commemorating Rabin’s Death

While it is wrong to speak ill of the dead, when the deceased is a man who represented an entire nation for over half a century, it would also be wrong to allow lies about the deceased to stand uncorrected. Contrary to common belief, Rabin did not die for peace. He spent his entire life destroying Palestine and making the lives of Palestinians unliveable.

Rabin agreed to go along with the Oslo “Peace” Plan only because it all but ensured that Palestinians would never be able to establish a state of their own. The Oslo Accords secured Israeli control over the entire length and breadth of Palestine. Peace, so it was assumed, would be a by-product of this agreement.

Rabin was the iconic Israeli and he represented Israel’s privileged elite: he was Ashkenazi, he fought in 1948, became a general, lead the IDF, he was Minister of Defense and Prime Minister. Being an iconic Israeli, Rabin was despised and envied by everything that his assassin represented: Yigal Amir was not-Ashkenazi but rather an Arab Jew, non-privileged, he was part of the national-religious movement which makes up the West Bank settler community. It is a community that did not have any part in the “myth of the creation,” the legacy of 1948 and the founding of the state and the military but pushed forward the settlement project in the West Bank.

No two groups could be more different and despise each other more than these two.

Israelis like to believe that Rabin’s assassination was caused by his handshake with Yasser Arafat. That the signing of the Oslo Accords, which allowed Palestinians to govern themselves, albeit to a very limited degree, is why he was killed. That his death represents the sacrifice all Israelis were willing to make for peace. However, in reality, his assassination was not about that at all. It was a climactic point in the tension between the two groups represented by the assassin and his victim.

At the public ceremony commemorating the assassination, the only major figure who spoke was also a retired general, former IDF Chief, head of the Blue and White Party, Benny Gantz. He is the heir apparent to the Rabin legacy of liberal Zionism which promises to continue killing Palestinians while claiming to want peace.

What can be said about Gaza that hasn’t already been said? Well, all one has to do is to listen to the commentary on Israeli television news shows to find out. Set up like CNN, a panel of mostly men, naturally all Jewish Israeli, discuss the relations between Hamas and Islamic Jihad. One expert explained how Hamas was pleased that Israel “took out” Islamic Jihad leader Bahaa Abu al-Atta in Gaza as this helped Hamas in the competition between the two.

Comments that were tweeted by Dr. Basem Naim, former minister of health and the Head of Council on International Relations, showed a different story. The assumptions made by Israeli commentators suggesting that Palestinians would see an Israeli assassination of a Palestinian fighter as a cause for relief is indicative of the ignorance and arrogance of the Israeli media.

Abu-Atta was murdered in his bed, his wife was murdered alongside him and their children were seriously injured. There is no inquiry into the legality of the assassination, the murder of Abu-Atta’s wife, or the injuries to his children. In fact, a piece in Ha’aretz, a Liberal Zionist mouthpiece, by Amos Har’el stated that “Israel had a good week,” as a result of the assassination and the massacre that followed.

The assassination was followed by a brutal attack on Gaza in which a total of 34 people were killed, including eight children. Over one hundred people were injured, among them fifty-one children. Indeed a successful week for Israel.

All Around Palestine

In order to get an understanding of the situation in Palestine, one must visit all of Palestine. In the South, Naqab Palestinian Bedouin activists are struggling under daily repression, dispossession, and arrests of activists. In a recent visit to what used to be the village of Al-Araqib, I saw Sheikh Sayagh A-Turi again for the first time since he was released from prison. With each visit, there is less and less of a village. Last time I was there at the end of 2018 there were still a few tents there. This time we sat on a blanket on the ground, under a tree.

The Israeli police have a special terrorist squad called the “Yoav Brigade.” It is a specially trained storm trooper brigade that deals with the unarmed, poor Beduin community. “They come every day and they destroy everything in sight.” I was told by village activists. “If they see a blanket they take it throwing everything on the ground, tea, coffee, water, anything they find.” The Sheikh is not permitted to be there, in his village on his land, at all.

Bedouin Israel

Sheikh Ra’d Salah, from the 1948 Palestinian town of Umm El-Fahm is known as the leader of the currently outlawed Northern Branch of the Islamic movement. Israel outlawed the organization, known as “The Northern Branch,” in 2015. A piece by Lawrence Rubin in the Brookings Press claims, “the decision to outlaw the Northern Branch seems to have been based on political calculations, not necessarily security interests.”  Middle East Monitor reports that an Israeli court “convicted Sheikh Salah for incitement to commit terrorism. Magistrates also convicted Salah of illegal incorporation, citing his role as the leader of the Islamic Movement, which Israel outlawed for allegedly engaging in “anti-Israel activities.”

From the Naqab in the South to El-Jaleel in the north, from the Jordan Valley in the East to Yafa in the West, Palestine is occupied and Palestinians are subjected to inhumane treatment by the apartheid regime known as Israel. There was never a more important time to demand that Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) be enacted against Israel, and without delay.

Is Jordan Flying With «Israeli» Air Force While Gaza Is Being Bombed?

By Staff, Electronic Intifada

The death toll in the Gaza Strip exceeded 20 by Wednesday as the “Israeli” entity continued the bombing campaign it launched with the extrajudicial execution a day earlier of a senior commander of the Islamic Jihad resistance group.

Jordan has deplored the “Israeli” attacks as an aggression against innocent civilians.

But as Palestinians in Gaza braced for what could be a prolonged “Israeli” assault claiming many more lives, evidence emerged that Jordanian warplanes are taking part in military exercises alongside the “Israeli” entity’s air force.

The claim was made by a Dutch aviation analyst who posted evidence on Twitter indicating that Royal Jordanian Air Force F-16 warplanes are informally involved in the Blue Flag 2019 exercise hosted by the entity.

It has been bolstered by an “Israeli” military reporter.

Maps and data posted by the Dutch analyst, citing the flight tracking service, show Jordanian military aircraft flying intermittently along the Jordan-“Israeli” entity border and over “Israeli”-occupied territory since 3 November, with additional flights reported Wednesday.

Is Jordan Flying With «Israeli» Air Force While Gaza Is Being Bombed?

Shai Levy, a military reporter with the Israeli news website Mako, posted what he claimed was a photo of a Jordanian warplane at Israel’s Ovda airbase.

Formally the countries taking part in Blue Flag 2019 are the “Israeli” entity, Germany, Italy, Greece and the United States.

“Officially, [Royal Jordanian Air Force] is not a participant in the exercises, but evidence is strong,” the Dutch analyst observed. “I don’t expect anyone to officially confirm this.”

Tensions between the two countries have increased recently after “Israel” subjected two Jordanian citizens to prolonged detention without charge or trial.

In 2015, “Israeli” media reported that Jordanian air force pilots paid a “working visit” to the “Israeli” entity.

That year, “Jordanian fighter pilots trained closely with their ‘Israeli’ counterparts at a US-hosted air force exercise,” according to The Times of “Israel”, citing a US official.

The United Arab Emirates, which maintains a secret, though increasingly open, alliance with the “Israeli” entity, is known to have previously taken part in military exercises with the “Israeli” air force.

Requests for comment have been sent to the office of the Jordanian prime minister, who doubles as defense minister, the foreign ministry and the Jordanian embassy in Washington at their publicly listed email addresses.

Islamic Jihad Investigations: Israeli Drone Entered Abu Al-Atta Flat Just before His Assassination

November 13, 2019

An article posted by i24news mentioned the investigations, done by the Islamic Jihad resistance movement in Gaza into the assassination of the military commander Baha Abu Al-Atta, revealed the entrance of an Israeli drone to the bedroom of his apartment few minutes before the attack.

The report added that the Zionist drone entered Abu Al-Atta’s apartment to accurately check the presence of the target and transmitted images to the command few minutes just before it exploded, causing a light damage.

Few moments later, a warplane fired two missiles at the bedroom (of Abu Al-Atta’s apartment), destroying it completely, according to the report which added that the Israeli drones had always monitored the house before the assassination and that the martyr entered his house half an hour before the assassination.

Shin Bet chief Nadav Argaman boasted, during a joint press conference with the Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and the Cjief of Staff Aviv Kochavi, that the enemy forces managed to reach even the bed of the martyr Abu Al-Atta.

It is worth noting that Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah had warned against the threat posed by the Israeli drone violations, vowing to confront this danger.

Sayyed Nasrallah’s remarks came in response to an Israeli drone attack on Beirut’s southern suburb (Dahiyeh) on August 25, 2019.

An Israeli drone come down in Dahiyeh’s Mouawwad neighborhood at 1:00 a.m. on Sunday (August 25, 2019), and another exploded in the same area half an hour later. The attack caused damage to Hezbollah’s Media Relations office which is located in the area.
