The 14th of August 2006 observes the 16th anniversary of the divine victory that was achieved after the thirty-three-day war between the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon and the ‘Israeli’ occupation forces.
Every year, most of the Lebanese, along with many millions of Arabs, Muslims, and free people, celebrate the event all over the world.
Ever since this victory materialized, the ‘Israelis’ have been studying the impact of their shameful defeat. The strategic consequences that followed made a major shift and came to put the temporary ‘Israeli’ entity into a completely different situation at a very fragile and vulnerable time. On the contrary, the Islamic Resistance has become a remarkable major force in Lebanon and the region and one of the most important non-state players in the whole world.
The Islamic Resistance did not only achieve a victory but also presented itself as a role model that could be emulated in the region and the entire world.
More importantly, since its advent, Hezbollah has been able to make new equations against the ‘Israeli’ enemy. This new victory presented the party as a major force in Lebanon and the region that is capable of making the achievements at every remarkable event.
The July War victory by Hezbollah ushered in a new era as it has consolidated Hezbollah’s role and capability as one of the major strategic equation-makers in Lebanon and the Arab world against the ‘Israeli’ enemy.
The first equation Hezbollah achieved through the resistance was the equation of deterrence against the enemy hostilities and aggressions. This equation has been achieved since the mid-eighties.
The second equation was that of protection after the two wars in the nineties, namely the July 1993 War that the enemy called it “Operation Accountability,” and the April 1996 War, which the ‘Israelis’ called “Grapes of Wrath” war. Hezbollah succeeded in formulating a very protective deterrent equation which enabled the party to launch retaliatory attacks against the enemies in case of targeting the civilians.
The third equation the party achieved had been developed over the years starting by the day of liberation on the 25th of May 2000 until the year 2006. It was an equation that we might be able to call “balance of horror.”
The ‘Israelis’ feared attacking Lebanon or targeting the civilians for six years until 2006, the year that witnessed the thirty-three-day July war. This war was destined to end with a divine victory on Lebanon’s side.
Ever since, Hezbollah has been accumulating military power, technical efficiency, and unrivaled expertise about the ‘Israelis.’ For their part, the ‘Israelis’ have admitted that Hezbollah is not only a strategic threat for their entity, but also an existential one.
Nowadays and after all this time, and after the resistance has been able to live up to all the challenges, Hezbollah went into another complicated and more dangerous war against the takfiris in Syria and was able to win another divine victory against the takfiris in 2017 in what came to be known as the second liberation.
When creed and power are found in one man, the result will be Sayyed Mustafa Badreddine, aka Sayyed Zulfikar.
He is the grandson of Imam Ali (P) whose teachings inspired the soul of the Lebanese young man to fight the Israeli enemy in Khaldeh upon the Zionist invasion in 1982. During that battle Sayyed Mustafa Badreddine was injured; however, his wounds did not prevent him from pursuing his jihad journey.
In 1996, Sayyed Zulfikar led Hezbollah military in the fight against the Israeli large-scale aggression on Lebanon, commanding the Resistance units which remained striking the enemy till the last moment of the confrontation.
In 1997, martyr Badreddine coordinated with Hezbollah military commander, martyr Imad Mughniyeh, Ansariyeh ambush which inflicted heavy losses upon the enemy forces.
Sayyed Zulfikar also played a vital role in the indirect negotiations held to liberate the prisoners in the Zionist jails, forcing the enemy to release most of the Lebanese prisoners.
Martyr Badreddine further contributed to the operations of uncovering the collaborators with Israeli enemy and dismantling the terrorist cells which carried out a large number of car bomb attacks in several Lebanese cities.
When the takfiri danger approached Sayyed Zainab (P) Shrine, martyr Badreddine led Hezbollah forces to fight the terrorists and expel them from the area.
Hezbollah command appointed Sayyed Zulfikar as the commander of Hezbollah military operations in Syria where he fought the terrorists till his martyrdom in 2016.
Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah addressed on Friday the Party’s ceremony held to mark the sixth anniversary of the martyrdom of Sayyed Badreddine, indicating that the martyr was one of the symbols of the resistance generation which rebelled against the official regime in Lebanon and the region.
Hezbollah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered a speech on Wednesday during a ceremony held by the resistance group marking the anniversary of its Martyr Leaders. The festival was held in the Sayyed Shuhada Complex in Beirut’s southern suburb, in parallel with similar gatherings in the villages to which the three martyr leaders belong.
Hezbollah martyred leaders are Sheikh Ragheb Harb, Sayyed Abbas al-Moussawi, and Hajj Imad Mughniye, with their respective hometowns as Jibchit, Nabi Chitt, and Tayr Debba.
The resistance leader unveiled that despite all ‘Israeli’ attempts to block Hezbollah’s weapons transfers, the resistance group started transforming its missiles into precision-guided ones, in addition to manufacturing drones that are also “available for those who want to purchase,” according to the resistance leader.
The Hezbollah leader also advised the ‘Israelis’ to leave the land of Palestine, offering them to pay for their tickets to return to where they came from.
At the beginning of his speech, Sayyed Nasrallah congratulated all Muslims and lovers of Imam Ali [AS] on his birth anniversary.
Resolution 1982 and the Birth of Resistance
His Eminence then started to explain the motto of the occasion: Resolution 1982, which when summing the years that have passed on the martyrdoms of Sheikh Ragheb Harb, Sayyed Abbas al-Moussawi, and Hajj Imad Mughniyeh, 38, 30, and 14 years respectively, equal 82 years. 1982 is also the same year Hezbollah started its action as a resistance movement. “It was the year of deciding the birth and the launching of Hezbollah, and the progress that is lasting until this day. The blood of our martyrs has blessed this path and granted it all what it has today,” Sayyed Nasrallah underscored.
The Hezbollah leader further referred to resistance as an ideology, culture, and civilization in the region that existed before the 1982 invasion. “There had previously been Lebanese factions and parties that believed in resistance, among them was Sayyed Abdul Hussein Sharafeddine and Sayyed Musa Sadr.”
What was significant about the 1982 invasion, Sayyed Nasrallah went on to say, is that it represented the biggest threat and challenge to Lebanon and its people, and the entire region. “Lebanon was facing the danger of sovereignty, belonging to ‘Israel’, and the change of its identity, yet the Resistance was the side that preserved Lebanon’s identity with blood and jihad [fighting]; and will keep doing so.”
In terms of official dates, Sayyed Nasrallah noted that the Islamic Resistance was born in 1982 to cooperate with the truly sovereign people to preserve Lebanon’s identity.
His Eminence then highlighted the roles of martyred leaders in this path respectively, “Sheikh Ragheb Harb’s rejection of shaking hands with the ‘Israeli’ and recognizing it was a banner for our launching. Then martyr leader Sayyed Abbas al-Moussawi became the “combatant Sayyed” after the 1982 invasion. The foundation of the resistance began with Sayyed Abbas al-Moussawi and turned to a growing, strong, and organized entity whose Sayyed Abbas was its constant. Then, martyr leader Hajj Imad Mughniyeh was the act of resistance, its battlefield, its victory, he was the changer the equations, and the smasher of the enemy.”
“With martyr leader Hajj Imad Mughniyeh, Hezbollah witnessed the smart, innovative, military, and security, as well as the qualitative and quantitative development of the resistance, which contributed to achieving victories,” Sayyed Nasrallah went on to say.
Reiterating that the Resistance follows the footsteps of the martyr leaders to face the enemy’s greed, Sayyed Nasrallah praised it as a defender of Lebanon and a supporter of Palestine. “The Resistance will keep its pledge despite all conspiracies and lobbying.”
The ‘Israeli’ Annihilation
Elsewhere in his speech, Hezbollah’s secretary general underscored the resistance movements firm believe in the annihilation of the ‘Israeli’ occupation regime, stating that although some in Lebanon and the region think that the future belongs to ‘Israel’, and that’s why they normalize ties with it; however, the resistance movements in the region, including Hezbollah, believe that this occupying entity is temporary and declining.
“The descending curve of the occupation has started since 1985 when the Resistance forced ‘Israel’ to withdraw to the so-called “security belt”. The curve of the occupation declined thanks to the achievements of the Resistance and its victories in Palestine and Lebanon,” Sayyed Nasrallah emphasized, citing senior ‘Israeli’ analysts and leaders who admit that ‘Israel’ is declining and its elimination is a matter of time.
“We are in front of an entity which is in crisis, declining, and so is its army. The ‘Israelis’ themselves emphasized that ‘Israel’ is in front of three threats, one of which is its social crisis,” His Eminence also said.
Sayyed Nasrallah further explained that Hezbollah is concerned with following the enemy’s entity on a daily basis; “this entity won’t survive since it is artificial and its fate is related to the fate of its army.”
Back to the countries that normalize ties with the ‘Israeli’ regime and sends it its cash, Sayyed Nasrallah referred to them as serving this entity and attempting to bring it to life again, while the desire of the ‘Israelis’ themselves in joining the fight is declining and so is the trust in the Zionist army.
The Hezbollah leader urged ‘Israeli’ settlers to leave the Palestinian lands and voiced Hezbollah’s readiness to pay the expenses of their tickets to return to where they belong.
Lashing out at those normalizing ties with the ‘Israeli’ regime, Sayyed Nasrallah explained that they were requested to do so to help the occupation entity solve its crises.
Meanwhile, his eminence urged the Palestinian people to remain steadfast as the horizon for their liberation, which is represented by the resistance, is their sole way.
‘Israel’ always Deterred
Highlighting the the ‘Israeli’ enemy is deterred thanks to the resistance and the equation of its strength in face of the enemy’s weakness, Sayyed Nasrallah vowed that the resistance will continue building up its power and monitoring the enemy regardless of all the campaigns launched against it.
“All campaigns against the resistance “are nonsense” and our resistance is in continuous confrontation with the enemy. The enemy is attempting to carry out “a battle between the wars” to deal the resistance a blow as it does in Syria. The enemy, through its attacks on Syria, attempts to prevent Hezbollah from receiving the qualitative weapons,” Sayyed Nasrallah said, mocking the enemy’s attempts which made Hezbollah turn the threat into an opportunity.
Thanks to this challenge, Sayyed Nasrallah unveiled that Hezbollah has obtained the capability of transforming the thousands of missiles it has into precision-guided missiles.
“Since years Hezbollah has been transforming its missiles into precision-guided missiles,” Sayyed Nasrallah uncovered, then addressed the ‘Israeli’ who is searching for them by saying: “Search as much as you want and we are waiting for you!”
Sayyed Nasrallah further cautioned the enemy that when it dares to carry out an offensive to search for Hezbollah’s missiles, we might be facing a second “Ansariya Operation”.
The resistance leader further announced that Hezbollah also started in the past years to manufacture drones, telling those who want to purchase some that “They are welcome!”
Sayyed Nasrallah then praised the youths in the resistance who can keep themselves updated with all the advancements: “Hezbollah is ready for every new development in its military industry.”
His Eminence also explained that the occupation regime is recruiting agents in Lebanon to compensate for the absence of its drones in our airspace, then reiterated that the capabilities and the structure of the resistance is in continuous development and the past Summer was one of Hezbollah’s biggest training seasons.
Lebanese Parliamentary Elections
The Hezbollah leader said it time and again that the resistance group supports holding the Lebanese parliamentary elections on time, and criticized those who are accusing Hezbollah of delaying the elections, telling them that they seem to be the ones who really want this delay.
“Hezbollah supports holding the parliamentary elections on time, and considers those election very critical,” Sayyed Nasrallah said as he announced Hezbollah’s official slogan for the parliamentary race as: “We’ll Continue Defending and Building [our country].”
The Hezbollah leader laid emphasis on the pledge to remain defending the nation and building it. “We will keep defending and building our country through the golden equation of Army, People, and Resistance, and we insist on the Lebanese Army’s role.”
People that Protect the Resistance
Sayyed Nasrallah greeted the people of resistance who have always been backing it in face of the all the attacks and attempts to lobby against Hezbollah.
“Hadn’t the resistance relied on an embracing environment, it won’t be able to defend those people, their dignity, present, and future,” His Eminence said, adding that “After failing in their wars, they are attempting to target the people embracing the resistance.”
Additionally, Sayyed Nasrallah explained that the foes “attempt to lobby against the resistance by economic hardships and luring people to abandon the resistance, yet the paid campaigns will fail since the logic of resistance is stronger and more credible.”
Lebanon to Remain a Nation of Freedoms!
Elsewhere in his speech, Sayyed Nasrallah blasted the the targeted harassment against some Shia opposition groups from different Arab nations and the selective attempts to ban them from holding conferences and events in Lebanon.
His Eminence affirmed that Hezbollah preserves Lebanon’s identity that is provided by the country’s Constitution, atop of which is the freedom of press and expression.
Lashing out at some in Lebanon who ban the freedom of press and expression, Sayyed Nasrallah criticized their selective ban as well as forbidding and violating what they want.
“In the nation of freedoms, the oppressed Bahraini people have the right to commemorate the anniversary of their revolution. In the nation of freedoms, the Yemeni people have the right to speak up for their martyred children and the injustice they are subjected to!” Sayyed Nasrallah made it clear.
The resistance leader further explained that as Hezbollah preserves the identity of Lebanon as a nation of freedoms, its missiles preserve life in it as well as its borders.
His Eminence then questioned the achievements of those who are attacking the resistance in Lebanon: “What have you done for Lebanon? What have you done with the money you received [as donations]? Where are the $30 billion Mohammad Bin Salman and the US said they have offered to Lebanon?”
Closing his speech, Sayyed Nasrallah addressed the people of resistance, assuring them that “Hezbollah will keep preserving the will [of Sayyed Abbas al-Moussawi], we defend and build [the nation], we make achievements, and we emerge victorious…”
Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah affirms in his speech that the Resistance “is following in the footsteps of its martyred leaders against the ambitions of the enemy to protect Lebanon and support Palestine.”

A legacy of three leaders to cherish
In a speech on the anniversary of the Hezbollah’s martyred leaders, Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that “the 1982 invasion constituted an unprecedented danger to Lebanon aimed at confiscating its sovereignty and changing its identity,” noting that the Resistance “is the entity that preserved the Lebanese identity by means of the spilled blood and the course of jihad, and it will continue to do so.”
He added that “the Islamic Resistance was established in 1982 to cooperate with real sovereign entities in the country to preserve its identity,” stressing that the martyred leader Sheikh Ragheb Harb, by refusing to shake hands with the Israeli occupation and recognize it, was the beacon that sparked the launch of our movement.
Sayyed Nasrallah then moved to martyred leader Sayyed Abbass Al-Moussawi and said that he turned from a religious personality into a freedom fighter with the onset of the 1982 invasion. Then the course continued, he said, and was crowned by the leader Imad Moghnieh who manifested the resistance’s action on the ground and its victory, whereby it changed the status quo and crushed the enemy.
The Secretary-General of Hezbollah stressed that the Resistance “is following in the footsteps of its martyred leaders against the ambitions of the enemy for the sake of protecting Lebanon and supporting Palestine,” stressing that “the Resistance shall maintain its vows despite all the conspiracies and pressures.”
He added, “There are those in Lebanon and the region who think that the future is linked to Israel and that is why they rush to normalize ties with it,” but they should know that all “the resistance movements in the region, including Hezbollah, believe that this entity is but temporary and is in decline.”
Sayed Nasrallah: The Israeli occupation entity is in decline
Sayyed Nasrallah pointed out that the Israeli occupation has been on a downward path since 1985 when the Resistance forced it to withdraw to the ‘security belt’ and stressed that the occupation has been forced into this situation thanks to the Resistance’s achievements and victories in Palestine and Lebanon.
He pointed out that “the enemy’s top leaders and analysts confirm that indeed Israel is in a state of decline, and its end is just a matter of time,” adding, “We are facing a distressed entity and army heading downward sharply.”
Sayyed Nasrallah added that the Israelis themselves affirmed that they are facing three threats, including a “social crisis and the disintegration of its [social] fabric.” He considered that the normalizing countries are only serving the Israeli project by providing “Israel” with money in an attempt to resuscitate it.
He also stressed that the Israelis no longer have the desire to fight and their confidence in their army has declined, but their desire to leave has increased.
“We encourage the Israelis to leave Palestine and we are ready to bear the costs of their trip,” Sayyed Nasrallah said.
The Secretary-General of Hezbollah pointed out that some Arab countries were asked to normalize ties with “Israel” in order to help the occupation entity get out of its crises, noting that the Palestinian people are “expected to be steadfast, because liberation lies in the horizon, and the Resistance is the only way to pursue in that path.”
Sayyed Nasrallah: We started manufacturing drones in Lebanon years ago
Nasrallah considered that the enemy has become impotent by the Resistance thanks to its power and the weakness of the enemy itself, stressing that “the Resistance continues to build its strength and keeps pace with the enemy, regardless of all the ravaging campaigns against it.”
He clarified that all campaigns against the Resistance are but “scattered dust” and “our Resistance is in a continuous confrontation with the enemy,” adding that “the enemy is trying to win a battle among a series of failed wars to target the Resistance, just as it does in Syria.”
Nasrallah pointed out that “the enemy is trying, through its attacks in Syria, to prevent the Resistance’s qualitative weapons from reaching Lebanon,” but they should know that despite all their attempts “the Resistance has acquired the ability to convert thousands of missiles into precision-strike missiles.”
He addressed the Israeli enemy, saying, “We have been converting our missiles into precision missiles for years.”
The Secretary-General of Hezbollah warned the Israeli occupation that if it dares to launch an operation of any kind in search of the Resistance’s missiles, they will be faced with an operation similar to the “Ansari Operation”.
“We began manufacturing drones in Lebanon, years ago… whoever wants to buy, we are more than ready to sell,” Hezbollah Secretary-general said.
Nasrallah also stressed that “our youth have the ability to keep up with all developments, and we are ready for any developments in our military industry,” noting that “the Resistance decided to activate its air defense system, which has been in place for years, to face the danger of Israeli drones.”
He said, “The Israeli occupation is employing collaborators in Lebanon to compensate for the absence of its drones from our country’s airspace,” stressing that “the Resistance’s capabilities and structure are in a state of continuous development” and pointing out that last summer marked a prominent and major season of military exercises and training.
Regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections in Lebanon, Sayyed Nasrallah said, “Whoever is accusing us of delaying the parliamentary elections in Lebanon seems to be the one who wants this delay,” adding that Hezbollah supports holding the parliamentary elections on time and calling the elections as “fateful”.
In this context, he revealed that Hezbollah’s electoral slogan for the upcoming elections is: “We shall forever protect and build,” addressing those who always try to stand in their way of protection and building, saying, “We shall forever protect and build armed with the golden three; ‘The People, the Army, and the Resistance.'”
Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that the Lebanese Army is the basic guarantee for the country’s security, unity, and protection from all dangers.
He considered that the milieu that embraces and upholds the Resistance is a core element in its achievements and missions, and it is an essential part of the golden three, stressing that this milieu is a “strong element and a key factor in making victories, and that is why it is always targeted.”
The Secretary-General of Hezbollah added that having failed in the wars they waged, now they are trying to target the environment that fosters the Resistance in order to incite people against it and eventually abandon it. He stressed that all the campaigns of those fomenting sedition and offering financial support for a systematic campaign of insults and attacks on the Resistance will fail because the logic of the resistance is stronger and more credible.
Sayyed Nasrallah continued, “They are still trying to coerce the Resistance through economic pressures and offering temptations in exchange for abandoning it.”
Sayyed Nasrallah: We are the entity that protected Lebanon’s identity and sovereignty
The Secretary-General of Hezbollah indicated that certain individuals attempt to prevent freedom of expression in Lebanon, so they prevent and allow expression as per their whims.
He stressed that “in Lebanon, the country of freedom… the oppressed Bahraini people have the right to commemorate the memory of their revolution.”
Nasrallah also considered that “the Yemeni people have the right to speak up about their martyred children and the injustice they are afflicted with,” stressing that “we are the entity that protects Lebanon’s identity and sovereignty, and our missiles are the weapons that protect the people’s living in it and its borders.”
He addressed those who continuously attack the Resistance in Lebanon, asking “What have you accomplished for the country, and what have you done with all the money you received? Where are the $30 billion that Bin Salman and America said they offered to Lebanon?”
Nasrallah ended his speech with a reassuring message to the supporters of the Resistance:
“We will keep moving forward, and we are staying… we shall preserve the legacy (of the martyr leaders)… we will protect and build… we will accomplish and come out victorious.”

On the 14th martyrdom anniversary of Hezbollah military commander Hajj Imad Mughniyeh, Al-Manar TV Channel disclosed a footage the showed the martyr speaking on the existential strength of Hezbollah.
Reflecting the character of a visionary leader, Hajj Rudwan said that Hezbollah existence can never be obliterated because it is deeply-rooted in the Lebanese society.
The martyr added that several generations have been raised in accordance with the values of the Islamic resistance, which makes it so hard to eradicate Hezbollah existence.
Hajj Rudwan indicated that the existence of Hezbollah social incubation does not only rely on the resistance military role, but that it is related factual presence of this social segment.
Hajj Imad Mughniyeh also cited the important role of the martyrs and their families, adding that all the local and foreign sides are obliged to take into their consideration the existence of Hezbollah.
On February 12, 2008, Hezbollah’s top military commander was martyred in a car bomb attack carried out by Israeli Mossad agents after a long journey of military victories over the Zionist enemy.
Hajj Imad Mughniyeh, martyred in a car bomb attack carried out by Israeli Mossad agents in Damascus.
Head of Hezbollah’s executive council Sayyed Hashem Safieddine indicated that the top military commander of the Islamic Resistance, martyr Hajj Imad Mughniyeh, started preparing for the upcoming battle with ‘Israel’ just after the end of 2006 War.
In an interview with Al-Manar TV Channel, Sayyed Safieddine stressed that July’s War led to the emergence of the axis of resistance, adding that the conspiracy against the resistance is still ongoing, but by different means.
Sayyed Safieddine maintained that the Resistance enemies are imposing an economic blockade on Lebanon in the context of their last attempt to undermine Hezbollah power, adding that the honorable Lebanese people will confront the US sanctions.
On July 12, 2006, the Israeli occupation army waged a barbaric war on Hezbollah after the Lebanese Resistance kidnapped two Zionist soldiers in an operation on the borders aimed at liberating Lebanese and Arab hostages from the enemy’s prisons. After a 33-day battle, ‘Israel’, backed by US and a large number of Western And Arab states, failed to reach any of its military targets due to Hezbollah fierce resistance. Thus, despite the heavy sacrifices Hezbollah and the entire Lebanese nation emerged victorious from the war.
On February 12, 2008, Hezbollah military commander, Hajj Imad Mughniyeh, was martyred in a car bomb attack carried out by Israeli Mossad agents in Damascus.
The Lebanese Hezb Allah resistance party has released new special footage, showing for the first time details of the brave operation of Hezb Allah soldiers blocking a vehicle of the Israeli IDF at the southern Lebanese borders arresting two of the Israeli terrorists.
The operation took place on 12 July 2006 after an unknown period of combing the area, monitoring the movements of the Israeli IDF terrorists, and selecting the target and timing of the operation.
Hezb Allah late commander Imad Mughniyeh is said to have planned the operation which took place in Khallet Wardeh area of the Lebanese Ayta ash Shab region, commander Mughniyeh was later assassinated by the Israeli terrorists in a complicated terrorist attack in Damascus in February 2008 with the help of their US patrons and the ‘intelligence’ services of another state believed to be an Arab one.
The following special footage was released by the Hezb Allah media on the 15th anniversary of the operation.
Israel had planned to bomb Lebanon at the end of the summer of 2006, plans were drawn by the Israeli leaders to restore some of the Israeli pride which was completely lost in the year 2000 when the Lebanese resistance spearheaded by Hezb Allah managed to evict the decades-long Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon in a very humiliating manner. It took the Israeli military commanders 6 years to plan for an operation that they thought will eliminate Hezb Allah and restore Israel’s hegemony over Lebanon again. Khallet Wardeh operation by Hezb Allah only brought the Israeli operation 2 months earlier when the Israelis were encouraged by their US patrons, the Saudis, and other evil forces to bomb Lebanon and destroy the country’s infrastructure in the 33 days war of aggression.
Khallet Wardeh operation was meant to arrest Israeli IDF terrorists to exchange them with Lebanese and other Arabs kidnapped by the Israeli terrorist ‘state’ for years. Israel had other plans.
After 33 days of the continuous relentless Israeli bombing of Lebanon, the Israeli regime of Ehud Olmert was begging their patrons and friends to enforce a ceasefire, they realized their bank of targets was false and they failed to achieve any military victory over Hezb Allah which in turn started retaliating by bombing Israeli forces and wiping out entire Israeli tank columns and the Hezb Allah chief vowed to start bombing the Israeli capital of Tel Aviv in retaliation for the Israeli bombing of the Lebanese capital Beirut, and after Hezb Allah destroyed live on TV one of Israel’s most advanced navy ships, an INS Hanit, a Sa’ar 5-class corvette, Hezb Allah chief Hassan Nasr Allah telling the Lebanese people live on TV: ‘Look at the Israeli navy ship at sea which was bombing you, now look at it how it will burn out.’
The Israeli INS Hanit navy ship of the Sa’ar 5-class corvette destroyed by Hezb Allah in 2006
Israel failed to achieve the goals of its years-long planned military aggression, Hezb Allah managed to achieve not only their set goal of exchanging the arrested Israeli IDF terrorists with the kidnapped Lebanese and Palestinians in Israeli captivity. Hezb Allah was declared a clear victor by all analysts including a special committee created by the Israelis themselves and the operation resulted in the collapse of the Israeli cabinet with its head Ehud Olmert sent to prison on some corruption charges.

So far, the entity best positioned to fill the power vacuum is the ‘axis of resistance’ led by Iran
The Middle East has always proudly claimed its own culture and, above all, a certain resistance to so-called western modernity. But over the past two decades, reading its tea leaves has become increasingly difficult.
The past two decades have been cataclysmic, and those to come could be even more worrisome. A power vacuum is looming, especially amid multiple signals of a US political and military disengagement from the region. With the notable exception of Israel, it is not certain that Washington’s other local partners will be able to adjust to the new strategic environment.
In the summer of 2000, the Clinton administration believed for a moment that the circle of the historical Israeli-Palestinian conflict could be squared – only to discover, just months later, that this was not on the cards.
The so-called US-led peace process has become essentially an international PR strategy for managing the conflict
At the time, the Americans and Israelis concluded that, no matter how effective their marketing strategies, a bantustan could not be sold to the Palestinians as the state they had claimed and sought for decades to fulfil their unquestionable right to self-determination. Since then, the so-called US-led peace process has become essentially an international PR strategy for managing the conflict. It has given breath and time to a creeping Israeli annexation of the sliver of historical Palestine not yet under Israel’s control.
The Trump administration – more honestly, or less hypocritically, if you prefer – tried to solve the issue by siding openly with Israel, aiming to impose a “bantustan solution” under a different name: the Abraham Accords. To succeed, the formula required the formal adhesion of certain Arab countries, primarily Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Yet, while some Arab states quickly established diplomatic relations with Israel, the absence of Riyadh has left an aura of uncertainty around the ambitious project.
Turmoil in Israel-Palestine
The latest conflict in the streets of Jerusalem, inside Palestinian communities of Israel, and in the Gaza Strip, has likely buried the viability of such a “solution”. Most certainly, it has shown that the Palestinian question is still alive and kicking.
Israel is now in the paradoxical situation of being the strongest regional military and technological power, while facing a highly polarised political framework and a somewhat crumbling internal front. In order to finally remove former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from power, Israeli politicians cobbled together the most heterogeneous coalition in the country’s history. The most extremist prime minister ever, Naftali Bennett, had to rely on the support an Arab party with Islamist roots in order to narrowly win power.

Meanwhile, Palestinians are mired between an increasingly ineffective official leadership in Ramallah, the Palestinian Authority, and an increasingly popular but “terrorist”-designated leadership in Gaza, Hamas.
After 9/11, the main western political driver for the region changed. The US-led “war on terrorism” aimed to impose, once and for all, a Pax Americana in the region, focusing on Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Yemen.
Two decades later, this strategy is crumbling. The US is withdrawing from Afghanistan without accomplishing anything significant, and after spending trillions in Iraq, the US has been asked by Baghdad’s parliament to leave. A tiny enclave in eastern Syria remains under US control, but all the “useful” parts of the country are again under the control of President Bashar al-Assad.
Spreading anxiety
US disengagement from the region, whether real or perceived, is spreading anxiety, with the sense of an incoming power vacuum that needs to be filled. So far, the only entity sufficiently organised and determined to do so appears to be the “axis of resistance”: Iran and its regional allies, including Syria, Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Yemen’s Houthis and Shia militias in Iraq.
Since its 1979 revolution, Iran has been the main opponent of western modernity and, particularly, a Pax Americana in the region. Tehran’s nuclear ambitions and regional activities have been a constant source of concern for Washington and its regional allies, both Arab and Israeli.
A temporary and partial truce, the 2015 nuclear deal, was quickly removed from the strategic equation in 2018. A heavy sanctions campaign, the Trump administration’s “maximum pressure” strategy, did not achieve its claimed objectives: Iran has changed neither its regime nor its behaviour.America Last: Coming to terms with the new world order
As another US administration now attempts to rejoin the nuclear deal, hoping to improve some of its clauses, Iran – with the recent election of Ebrahim Raisi as the country’s next president – is firmly under the control of conservatives, while also seeking a deal with the US andregional rivals. While Major-General Qassem Soleimani might have been eliminated, his regional master plan was not.
There are also other spoilers keen to take their slice of the cake. Turkey seems to be rediscovering its Ottoman past, and combined with its links to the Muslim Brotherhood, it is still viewed as an existential threat to many Arab ruling families.
Russia’s policy has been smarter and more effective, relying on diplomacy reinforced by military power – contrary to Washington’s approach, which used diplomacy only to justify the use of military force. Moscow has held its ground in Syria, obtained important leverage in Libya, and maintained good relations with all regional actors. Two decades ago, Russia was barely relevant in the area; now it is a player. It holds poor cards, but can use them far more effectively than others.
China, as usual, is approaching the region pragmatically, not ideologically. It aspires to leverage the power vacuum to smoothly build up the southern leg of its ambitious Belt and Road Initiative, aiming to create the world’s biggest economic and trading bloc outside of US political and financial control.
Looming pressures
On a regional scale, the so-called Arab Spring, an overdue and legitimate rallying cry by ordinary people exhausted by a systemic lack of governance, basic services and political rights, turned quickly into an Islamic awakening. It fuelled bloody civil wars in Syria, Libya and Yemen, while achieving only a single, partially accomplished political transition in Tunisia. The rest was an autocratic counter-spring, resembling the concert of powers mustered at the Congress of Vienna after the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars.
The Middle East during the past two decades of American unilateralism has been a mess. Could it be even worse without it?
While the US seems engaged in naively challenging both China and Russia, Europe, as usual, is torn by the dilemma over how to position itself. The Middle East may descend further into chaos, with Covid-19, migration and environmental pressures presenting just a few of the challenges that lie ahead.
One self-proclaimed enabler of the vaguely defined “rules-based world order”, the G7, has again failed to display the necessary leadership, which requires not only power, but also intellectual honesty and self-criticism. Its latest communique outlines no inspirational vision for the Middle East, failing to address the bombs that have already exploded (in Israel-Palestine) or the ones still ticking (the forthcoming collapse of Lebanon).
The Middle East during the past two decades of American unilateralism has been a mess. Could it be even worse without it? That’s doubtful, but it would be best to fasten your seatbelts anyway.

The phantom of Haj Imad Mughniyeh roaming through the liberated South, the last days of the liberation, the defense capabilities accumulated by the resistance, and the immediate hope for the liberation of Palestine; all of these are the core themes of which the member of Hezbollah’s Central Council, Sheikh Nabil Qaouk, has talked about to “Al-Ahed News” on the occasion of the anniversary of the Resistance and Liberation Day.
“Strengthening the Lebanese protection system is an ongoing day-to-day action, since the resistance doesn’t ease or rest and breaking the deterrence equation has become impossible,” Sheikh Qaouk affirms, stressing that the axis of resistance is integrated and coherent, and is now stronger and tougher than ever before. Gaza’s interference of its resistance and its missiles as a way of defending al-Quds is a historic achievement and a surprise to the ‘Israeli’ enemy and what happened confirms that the liberation of Palestine as a whole and that the end of the occupation is no longer a dream, a motto, or a wish.
Regarding the great jihadi leader Haj Imad Mughniyeh, Sheikh Qaouk reveals that “In preparation for the Victory Festival in Bint Jbeil, Haj Radwan said that the victory is incomplete without the release of prisoners and that he is currently preparing for an abduction that will ensure the liberation of all prisoners and detainees, as victory is only complete with their return.” Indeed, on Wednesday 24/5/2000, he went on a tour across the area overlooking the Shebaa farms for this exact purpose. He planned the operation all by himself and supervised its maneuver.
The full text of the interview with Sheikh Nabil Qaouk reads as follows:
-Twenty-one years have passed after the liberation of southern Lebanon; How far have the resistance’s capabilities to protect and deter the enemy gone?
With every new dawn, the capabilities of the resistance are enhancing in both quantity and quality and the deterrence equation with the enemy becomes stronger. Therefore, it leads to greater protection and preservation of Lebanon’s territory, people and sovereignty. Strengthening Lebanon’s protection system is an ongoing day-to-day action, since the resistance doesn’t ease or rest and breaking the deterrence equation has become impossible. It was the liberation in 2000 that brought the nation into the dawn of victories. It is true that May represents the “Nakba”, however, the resistance strategy made May a symbol of victory from Lebanon to Palestine and throughout the nation.
-How does the unified Axis of Resistance face challenges?
The Axis of Resistance is integrated and coherent. It seeks common goals and is based on a strategy to confront the aggressive ‘Israeli’-American project against Palestine, the region and its peoples. It is the centerpiece of those who have refused to surrender to the enemy, humiliate their peoples and undermine their causes, existence and identity.
This Axis, today, has become stronger, tougher and more coherent than ever.
The unity of this axis is reflected in its positions, its performance and its triumph of its causes and components, thereby it moves like a single unit, so whenever someone is down, the whole group comes to the rescue.
With every victory against the ‘Israeli’ enemy, we recall the spirit of Haj Qassem Soleimani, who has strengthened and developed the resistance’s strategy and besieged the enemy with missiles from everywhere.
-What is the importance of entering the Gaza Strip today along with the popular Intifada in the West Bank and al-Quds and standing by the Maqdessis [people of al-Quds]?
The interference of Gaza’s resistance and missiles as a way of defending al-Quds is a historic achievement and a surprise to the ‘Israeli’ enemy. Gaza’s resistance has dropped all attempts of division and partition that the enemy has worked on ever since the occupation. Today, from Gaza to al-Quds, along with the West Bank to the 48-lands, the Palestinians have said their one unified word, “Palestine will always be united from the river to the sea,” and all attempts to “domestication” and “Israelization” fell after decades of consolidating these attempts. Gaza’s involvement in the confrontation contributed to this historic achievement, which has exposed the enemy’s weakness and its illusion of power, and has enhanced the possibility of the entity’s downfall and the demise of its occupation.
What happened confirms that the liberation of Palestine as a whole and the end of the occupation is no longer a dream, a motto, or a wish. It’s rather a reality that materializes and appears at every resistance day. The strategic victory in the Battle of the “Al-Quds Sword” proves the fact that al-Quds is closer to liberation. The victory in the Battle of the “Al-Quds Sword” renewed the life of the Palestinian cause and tore Trump’s decisions apart.
-How does Hezbollah express its help and support for the Palestinians and the resistance today? At what level do they carry out their coordination and communication?
Hezbollah was and will always be the first supporter of Palestine and will never change. This is our source of pride and dignity and it is fully in line with our vision and strategy. Palestine and its liberation are at the center of our resistance’s project and objectives. The Palestinian resistance has defined the type and form of support that will help it in the battle, in which Hezbollah was proactive in providing assistance determined by the Palestinian resistance. Coordination and communication with the Palestinian resistance is a continuous and lasting process at various levels. The resistance in Lebanon is in one ditch, and with the Palestinian resistance in one confrontation, along with being in one battle against ‘Israel.’
*Haj Imad
– There are details related to the jihadi leader Haj Imad Mughniyeh during the days of liberation: How did he move between villages? Was the idea to capture ‘Israeli’ soldiers at the time a way to get prisoners out of occupation prisons? Why was the decision to quickly destroy all the ‘Israeli’ sites after the enemy was defeated?
Haj Imad used to travel as one of the people returning to their villages. On Monday 22/5/2000 he got in the middle of a crowd of people and took the Majdel Selm-Tallousa road on foot until he reached Hula, a village on the border of Palestine. And there he stood by the fence and, for the first time, inhaled the Palestinian air. It was the most beautiful moment of his life.
Haj Imad Mughniyeh worked to pursue the enemy from village to another on the basis that the withdrawal would be under fire to highlight the enemy’s defeat.
In preparation for the Victory Festival in Bint Jbeil, Haj Radwan said that the victory is incomplete without the release of prisoners and that he is currently preparing for an abduction that will ensure the liberation of all prisoners and detainees, for victory is only complete with their return. And indeed, on Wednesday 24/5/2000, he toured the area overlooking the Shebaa Farms in order to achieve this purpose, planning the operation himself and overseeing its maneuver.
Haj Imad didn’t trust the enemy as the defeat was imposed on it. And Haj Imad feared at the time that the enemy could return quickly to these sites, so he destroyed them to impede any attempt of their return, and in order not to have fortified sites adjacent to the border in the future, which the enemy could benefit from in any future war.
Every night we used to meet Haj Imad and the leaders of the resistance operation, until after midnight, to set the measures that must be taken on the next day. And before entering Ein Ebel, Debl, and Rmaysh, the procedures were strict and the resistance members were told not to enter these three villages armed. Haj Imad used to personally follow up on this report in order to ensure that there was no fear and panic among the inhabitants of these villages; since instilling fear of the resistance among the people is an ‘Israeli’ goal that ‘Israel’ has been pursuing.
He personally drove his car to Ein Ebel, where a number of men from Ain Ebel followed him with their cars. Haj Imad’s companions were worried about these men and intended to talk them, but Haj Imad refused and ordered to leave them so that they can be reassured and return to their families so they can reassure them as well, and that is what happened.
During the exit of Haj Imad from Ain Ebel and at the Bint Jbeil Junction, he saw a car filled with armed men, and feared that they would enter Ain Ebel with their weapons and cause tension in the village. So he stepped out of the car and ordered them to leave. He then asked the military intelligence officers, who were there, to prevent these men from entering the village.
Haj Imad roamed the border inch by inch from Naqoura to Jabal Al-Sheikh, as he checked all points and stepped out of his car in several places; which took a long time. And we had a congregational prayer in the presence of Haj Imad directly at the border strip with occupied Palestine.
– How did the Secretary-General of Hezbollah follow up on the details of the last days?
Moment by moment, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, was following the events and communicating with all factions. And after watching TV, the Secretary-General asked why there were more than one color for Hezbollah’s flag and he requested that all flags should be unified in yellow.
Beirut – You never run out of stories about the time of liberation. It is like a spring of fresh water on a high mountain pouring on the ground. Twenty full years of Imad Mughniyeh and his comrades in jihad. There was planning, implementation, and then achieving an Arab victory that was only difficult in the dictionary of the weak.
It is May 18, 2000. The beginning of the “Israeli” withdrawal from southern Lebanon begins to unfold. The resistance and its mujahideen are prepared and aware of what is going on. Its military leadership and its cadres are meeting in a village.
The goal is to continuously assess the situation to develop hypothetical scenarios in the event of any major retreat by the enemy. Hajj Imad is heading the meeting. He, along with his cohorts of resistance officers, are providing estimates while examining hypotheticals and sny potential plans the Zionists might adopt. Before those in attendance, he repeats one chorus: the “Israeli” enemy must leave humiliated and under fire.
For this purpose, numerous meetings with the command of military operations and mobilization forces were held. Various sources of fire including the artillery and launchers were stationed in the south. Reconnaissance of the enemy’s movements and soldiers was carried out a week before the liberation of the south, especially in light of the evacuations that were taking place along some of the posts. All this was overseen by Hajj Imad personally.
The enemy’s retreat rolled on. Qantara, Al-Qoussair, Deir Siriane, and Tayibe were liberated from the occupation under the strikes of the Mujahideen, while the locals headed to the occupied gate and removed it.
The resistance leadership drew up alternative plans on how to pounce the Lahad army at the time. It also deployed military police to the southern border villages to prevent any disturbances during the “Israeli” escape.
Indeed, some Lahad forces surrendered in Adaisseh, while others fled under fire from the resistance. Bint Jbeil and the towns in that district were liberated. The liberation rumbled from Tayibe to Hula to Beit Yahoun until the miniature security belt drawn up by the then “Israeli” War Minister Ehud Barak to protect the northern settlements collapsed.
A leader in the Islamic Resistance tells al-Ahed about those days.
“We stayed in the south, watching closely how the “Israelis” fled. Hajj Imad managed the military missions and distributed tasks. When the operations began, he was at the helm of those checking the situation. He went to the Palestinian border without escort.”
On May 23 and May 24, “Israeli” soldiers continued their withdrawal. From Ainatha to Kfar Tibnit to the Khiam detention center, the Zionists withdrew defeated. Hajj Imad was waiting, while the resistance men spread around and targeted them.
On the final day of throwing out the occupiers, the battle ended at the Fatima Gate at the border. Through it, the last “Israeli” soldier fled. That moment was historic.
While Benny Gantz, the commander of the so-called Lebanon Liaison Unit in the “Israeli” army, closed the gate and put the key under one of the rocks, Hajj Imad was a few meters away looking at how the “Israelis” were humiliated.
He stood in front of the Fatima Gate, while the resistance apparatus deployed and secured all the villages. Inhaling the breath of freedom and the fragrance of Palestine, he did not care about the people who had been trailing him for years. Those people were fleeing broken, looking for a refuge to hide their failures and surrender. On the other hand, Hajj Imad was defying everything to take a look at the Galilee and beyond. He had accomplished the first step of the inevitable liberation.
Six years after the 2000 liberation of the south, the July War came. Hajj Imad led 33 days of confrontations with the enemy. He thwarted the Zionists’ promise. It was another divine victory on the road to Palestine. Angered by the defeat, “Israel” decided to take revenge. For this purpose, it utilized its tools and agents. The meeting was in Syria.
Away from the commotion of the world, a group of leaders of the resistance axis gathered in one of the party’s centers in the Kafr Souseh area in Damascus.
On the evening of February 12, 2008, a group of leaders of the Revolutionary Guards headed by the commander of the Quds Force, Hajj Qassem Soleimani, met leaders of the Islamic Resistance, headed by Hajj Imad Mughniyeh.
It was a military summit that lasted for about an hour. One of the leaders who attended the meeting explained that the main reason for the meeting was to conduct an evaluation of the general situation at the level of the resistance factions. However, the special relationship between Hajj Imad and Hajj Qassem set the tone of the meeting.
There was laughter and smiles as if they felt that this would be a farewell. Hajj Qassem told our interlocutor, “What Hajj Imad says, I implement. I am a soldier of Hajj Imad Mughniyeh.” When the latter heard that sentence, he quickly said, “No, we are brothers.”
The evaluation session was over, and it was time to depart. Hajj Qassem Soleimani stood at the elevator and embraced Hajj Imad with great affection. That moment was engraved in the memory of the people present. It was proof that the relationship between the two men surpassed the cause. It was a relationship of spirit and sacrifice similar to the relationship between al-Hussayn and al-Abbas (PBUT). They shared redemption, responsibility, and a high jihadist spirit.
Five minutes later, Hajj Imad left to carry out an important mission. When he got to his car, he was martyred.
Hajj Qassem never knew Hajj Imad’s destination. He heard a loud explosion and was informed of the news. He went back to find his companion dead.
What was the nature of the meeting they agreed on minutes earlier? It was a painful separation. However, 12 years later that conclusion was repeated with Hajj Qassem’s spirit rising to the supreme kingdom. Both men’s blood was spilt on the road to Palestine for the sake of Al-Quds.
Head of Hezbollah Executive Council, Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, pointed out that the Palestinian resistance has managed to settle the military confrontation with the Israeli occupation army, adding that what the Zionist enemy can still do is killing civilians and destroying buildings.
“The Israeli enemy is repeating the same follies it committed during 2006 war .”
During Hezbollah ceremony held in Dahyeh’s Haret Hreik in support of Gaza against the Israeli aggression, Sayyed Safieddine stressed that the Israeli enemy is obliged to acknowledge the new repercussions of the formula imposed by the Palestinian resistance missiles, or that it will pay a heavy price.
Sayyed Safieddine indicated that defending Palestine protects the entire Umma, adding that this battle has extinguished the flame of sedition in the Umma.
In this context, Sayyed Safieddine highlighted of the former military commander of Hezbollah, the martyr Hajj Imad Mughniyeh, and the former commander of IRGC’s Quds Force, the martyr General Qassem Suleimani, in building up the rocketry power of the Palestinian resistance.
Sayyed Safieddine noted that Hezbollah has remarkably augmented it military capabilities since 2006 war, adding that the Resistance Party is now looking for the Day on which it joins the Palestinian Resistance fight against Israeli enemy on all the fronts.
During the ceremony, the Secretary General of the Islamic Jihad Movement, Ziyad Nakhala, stressed that Palestinian resistance will continue fighting the Zionist enemy till gaining the victory.
For his part, Osama Hamdan, the commander of Hamas movement in Lebanon, stressed that the Israeli aggression unified the Palestinians, adding that the Palestinian resistance is establishing new formulas in the confrontation with the Zionist enemy.
Interwiew of Sayed Hashem Safi al-Din, Head of the Executive Office of Hezbollah, May 11, 2021.
This interview was to be devoted exclusively to martyr Sayed Mustafa Badr al-Din “Zulfiqar”, Hezbollah commander killed in Syria on May 13, 2016, but the developments in Gaza were evoked at the beginning and end of the interview. We only translate these excerpts. Sayed Hashem Safi al-Din is a likely successor to Hassan Nasrallah.
Journalist: […] Before getting to the heart of the matter, we must talk about what is happening in Palestine, especially since the Palestinian cause was very important to Sayed Zulfiqar. How does Hezbollah see the violent Israeli escalation against Palestinians in Al-Quds (Jerusalem) and Gaza? What are the challenges & horizons of this escalation, and why is it happening now?
Sayed Safi al-Din: In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Let me first congratulate Muslims on the last days of the month of Ramadan, and for Eid al-Fitr, which will be celebrated in a day or two. I ask God the Most High to make these occasions a blessing for our Ummah (worldwide Muslim community), for the Resistance fighters and for the combatants. I have special thoughts for the families of the martyrs, the family of Sayed Badr al-Din, his daughters, his sons, his parents and his brothers, as well as all his loved ones, and all the families of the martyrs. I ask God the Most High to fill them with blessings in these days.
I must also extend sincere and strong greetings, from the bottom of my heart, to the soul and spirit of the Mujaheedin in Palestine, to the (Palestinian) people of Al-Quds (Jerusalem), to its men, women, young people, children, and the young people of Gaza, to all the heroic fighters of all the Palestinian (Resistance) factions. We salute them with respect and thank them for everything they do during these days and hours, in these very minutes. They defend the honor of the entire Ummah. Al-Quds represents the honor of the whole Muslim Community, the dignity of the whole Muslim Community.
What is happening in Palestine today is a sign of the end of a stage, and the start of a new stage (of the Arab-Israeli conflict). We have witnessed, in recent years, some examples of Israeli and American arrogance and hubris, and examples of the servility, betrayal and humiliation (of Arab rulers) who have vilely crept in the direction of normalization (of their relations with Israel). Some thought this was the last Act to be played, but we told them it was not the end, because the Muslim community is bigger and stronger than that. The Ummah in which there are so many Resistants, martyrs and leaders such as Sayed Mustafa Badr al-Din, for whom Palestine was in the eyes, in the heart and in all his existence… We said that this Muslim Community concealed many blessings, strength, capacity and greatness, and that it was capable of shaping (itself) the future.
The events of Al-Quds occurred, with the events that followed, until the use of rockets yesterday and today, by the hundreds, a veritable storm of rockets which shook the Zionist entity in order to say (two things): first, to tell the Israelis that the Resistance was much stronger than they imagined; and second, to tell the Zionists and Americans as well and all the normalizers, cowards and traitors (of the Arab-Muslim world) that the Palestinian people was much stronger, and that he would never abandon Palestine or Al-Quds.
These upheavals happening today will open new doors, create a new reality. A reality fraught with (huge) consequences, namely new equations. The equation of victories, the equation of the near Liberation (of Palestine territories) with the grace of God the Most High. These are equations that are based on the sacrifices of recent years. In recent years, there have been many sacrifices on the part of the Palestinian people, the Resistance, the Resistance Axis, in all directions and on all fronts and battlefields. All of these sacrifices resulted in what we see today, some of the scenes we see today. And what is yet to come is greater, much greater with the grace of God the Most High. […]
Journalist: To come back to what is happening in Palestine, what did Al-Quds and Palestine represent in the eyes of Sayed Zulfiqar? What emotional and jihadist ties linked him to the Palestinian cause?
Sayed Safi al-Din: Palestine represents jihad, and his first connection to it is (through) weapons, guns and bullets. He began his journey as a fighter in the ranks of the Palestinian Resistance (during the Fedayeen era in Lebanon). He has (strong) links, experiences, relationships, participation (with them). After that, his experience within Hezbollah was mainly focused on Al-Quds and Palestine. It’s no secret, it’s the truth. He also belongs to this culture. As far as he was concerned, Palestine was the compass, the central cause, the ultimate goal and hope. Al-Quds was for him the place where we had to make all the sacrifices to reach the stage of its Liberation, because by liberating Al-Quds (Jerusalem), we will not only liberate the holy places, but we will recover all the honor and all the dignity that have been stolen from us in all the past decades. As far as we are concerned, Al-Quds is everything we live for. And in these days (of war in Gaza), we feel more than ever the presence of such figures as Sayed Zulfiqar, Hajj Imad Moghniyeh, and the great leader Hajj Qassem Soleimani: in the end, (even if) they have found martyrdom in Syria, in Iraq or anywhere else, their essential cause, their greatest hope, what their whole being tended towards was to bring the Muslim world from one point to another, until it reaches Al-Quds and can finally liberate the Holy City.
And today, yes, as we have heard in some comments, those rockets that have been launched (against Israel) are the hope of Hajj Qassem Soleimani. They carry the hope of Hajj Imad (Moghniyeh). They carry the fiery aspiration of Sayed Zulfiqar. They carry all these (pure) souls. It is these souls who have acted and made all efforts relentlessly, (taking all the risks and) making all the sacrifices to ensure that this ballistic capability reaches the hands of the Resistance in Gaza. And thank God, today, these capabilities arrived in Gaza! These abilities grow and develop. The first credit goes to the Palestinian fighters there, of course, whatever their faction, but those who acted, supported and allowed all this, are these martyrs, these (Iranian and Lebanese) leaders, including Sayed Zulfiqar, who worked day and night for the Resistance inside Palestine to obtain great capacities, and even colossal capacities.
Journalist: So Sayed Mustapha Badr al-Din helped transfer skills and support to Resistance factions inside occupied Palestine?
Sayed Safi al-Din: He did more than contribute! He acted constantly (for the Palestinian Resistance)!
Journalist: What did this action consist of?
Sayed Safi al-Din: Transfering the experience, training, maintaining contact with all the resistant Palestinian forces, helping them to obtain the capacities and skills in all the fields, whether it has to do with obtaing weapons, the ability to manufacture them, their handling and use, all these abilities. Generally speaking, Hezbollah has played a big role in this regard, and we are very proud of it. It is our duty anyway. All of our commanders participated in that. This is neither a secret nor a shame, on the contrary, it is a matter of pride!
Journalist: Eminent Sayed, how important is the equation imposed by the Palestinian Resistance in linking the fate of Jerusalem to that of Gaza? How will this equation affect rules of engagement and the balance of power in the future?
Sayed Safi al-Din: If you remember correctly, this Gaza which just drowned the Israelis (under a deluge of rockets), the enemy considered that all Gaza could do was struggle its way through the various calamities in which it had been abandoned, struggling to cope with the problems created by the occupier and the United States, whether by the siege, pressures, (crippling) policies, etc., and therefore Israel considered it had nothing to fear from them. I am not going to recall all these well-known elements, which are part of History. But today, this Gaza is not only taking back its life, its future and everything it has in Palestine and Al-Quds, no! The very soul of Gaza now arises in Al-Quds! The soul of the Resistance that the occupier wanted to crush and suffocate in Gaza is present today in Al-Quds, in the West Bank, and will rise tomorrow in all the territories occupied in 1948 and throughout Israel!
The most important consequence of what is happening today is that the Palestinian cause is revived everywhere, at all levels, with all its weapons, all its fighters, all its rockets/missiles, all over (historical) Palestine! And that’s just the beginning!
Israel is unable to understand that the dislocation of Palestine into ≠ entities is over. Gaza stands for all Palestinians & the reverse is true
— Le Cri des Peuples (@lecridespeuples) May 14, 2021
Israel wanted to neutralize Gaza, through massacres and destruction, and then to neutralize a whole part of the (occupied) West Bank, through the separation wall. You have seen how the Separation Wall is built in a sinuous and even vicious way, with areas off-limits to Palestinians (making life impossible for them). Israel considered the territories conquered in 1948 to be safe, and part of the “historic Israeli entity” forever. The Arabs could forget (the territories of) 1948, they were irremediably absorbed! Forget Gaza, which is out of the game! (That’s what Israel thought). There were still a few besieged places in the West Bank, whether in Hebron or elsewhere. But the reality is that today, all of historic Palestine is set ablaze and embracing the Resistance! Today all of Palestine is resisting! All of Palestine is Al-Quds! This city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem) that they wanted to erase from the Palestinian cause, making forget even its (Arabic) name and its memory, whether through the Deal of the Century, the displacement of the American Embassy (from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem), and all these campaigns (to liquidate the Palestinian cause), the humiliating visits of some cowardly and enslaved Arab (regimes), unfortunately, the promises of establishing normal relations, etc. But (despite all this), Al-Quds today shines. She shines through her martyrs, she shines through the martyrs of Gaza. These Israelis today are killing children, women and men who die because they defend Al-Quds! These martyrs make Al-Quds even more resplendent, and give it even greater value in the minds of Palestinians, in the minds of Arabs and in the minds of (all) Muslims (worldwide).
What happens today will have very big, even grandiose consequences, as I told you before. Of course, now is the time for battle, not for analysis, now is the time for battle. It will be time to draw all the conclusions afterwards. In this time of battle, our common duty is to stand with the Palestinian people. We salute these efforts, these sacrifices, we salute these heroes, men, women and children, who went yesterday at dawn to the holy mosque of Al-Aqsa to enter and assert their right to be present there, at Sheikh Jarrah district, at the Damascus gate, everywhere, at every point (from where the settlers and police were trying to drive them out); we salute these men, these women, these young people, these children, all those who sacrifice themselves. We salute the fighters who, as I said, restore honor to the Ummah. We send them a thousand greetings, and with the grace of God, the whole Muslim world will be with them, the whole Arab world will be with them.
What is happening today is (the triumph of) the truth. The truth of our (Arab-Muslim) world is visible to everyone. Our Ummah is (deeply) steeped in Resistance, its inner core is Resistance. Its history, its culture, its identity are the Resistance! Such are our peoples, such is our (Arab-Muslim) Community. There may be, in this or that country, economic, political, or any other kind of problems, we can say that the Arab world is drowned in the so-called Arab Spring, whether in Egypt, in Tunisia, Syria, Iraq or anywhere else, but despite all their efforts to present these realities as preponderant to exhaust the peoples of our region, today, Palestine, Al-Quds and Gaza are reviving all these elements of strength present within our Community. And our Ummah declares to the United States, Israel and all the cowards that no, it is stronger than that, greater than that, and able to shape her future. And that’s exactly what she’ll do.
We are talking about realities and equations today, not empty slogans or hopes, not at all. As I told you at the beginning, what happened in Syria was no small thing, and what happened in Iraq was no small thing, at the level of the action of Resistance (reference to the victory against ISIS). And what is happening in Palestine now is no small thing. What happened in Yemen is no small thing. This victorious resistance of the Resistance Axis, among other consequences clearly visible today, brings the peoples of the Muslim world, little by little, to join this Resistance Axis, until it becomes the dominant choice and priority for our entire region.
And today I can say categorically and without any hesitation that yesterday and today, we had glaring proof of Trump’s failure when he targeted Hajj Qassem Soleimani, may God be pleased with him. The Al-Quds Force (Revolution Guards Corps, led by Soleimani), which spearheaded this Axis of Resistance, is now achieving very great victories. Of course, it is the Palestinian people who achieve these victories (in occupied Palestine), but at the level of vision and (common) cause, what happens there is one of the consequences of the work of the Hajj Qassem. And with the grace of God, what will come in the next battles will be even greater.
Journalist: Can you tell us, given your close proximity to Palestinian Resistance factions, to what extent we can say that Gaza still holds surprises and secret cards in its hands, which it can use if the confrontation extends?
Sayed Safi al-Din: It’s up to them to talk about this. The Palestinian Resistance, through its fighting and resistant factions, is capable of expressing itself, whether through declarations, through missiles, through actions, when it sees fit. This is their exclusive right, and we do not have to interfere with it. But what I know (and can say) in general is that the capacities of the Resistance in Palestine are very great, in terms of time (they can keep pace for weeks and months), capacities, weapons, the ability to fight (victoriously), etc. Their capacities are great, much more than what Israel can imagine.
Journalist: I am told in my earphone that Ben-Gurion Airport has just been targeted. What does this indicate? Is it a strong symbol?
Sayed Safi al-Din: To strike Tel Aviv is a very important thing, a remarkable qualitative development in terms of acts of Resistance. The same goes for the attack on Ben Gurion Airport. This is all due to the grace of God and the blessings that come with standing up for Al-Quds. The fact that Gaza has come into action in defense of Al-Quds brings great (divine) blessings. When the Islamic Community decides to defend Al-Quds, God pours out (huge) opportunities and benefits upon them.
Of course, all of this cannot happen without sacrifices. Whenever in a battle, the Islamic Resistance achieves great achievements, we must always remember that these exploits happen thanks to the grace of the blood of martyrs, the efforts of the fighters, the sacrifices, the patience and the endurance displayed by the Resistance, whether in Palestine, Lebanon or any other place. […]
TEHRAN – An Iraqi political activist says that Anis al-Naqqash’s life was greatly impacted by the Palestine cause as he spent his life to support the oppressed Palestinian people.
“Palestine was reflected in the whole life of the late Anis al-Naqqash from cradle to grave, until he was called ‘friend of Palestine’ and the Palestinian flag did not leave him until his honorable coffin was wrapped in it,” Hussein al-Dirani tells the Tehran Times. “His relationship with Palestine is like the relationship of the soul to the body, oxygen to the lung, and the mother to her child,” al-Dirani comments. Anis al-Naqqash, a seasoned Lebanese political activist concerning Islamic resistance, died at the age of 70. He died on February 22 after contracting the coronavirus. He was also a comrade of Imad Mughniyeh, a senior Hezbollah member who was assassinated in Syria in 2008, and the CIA claimed credit for his unlawful murder.
Following is the text of interview with al-Dirani:
Q: What are the achievements of the late Anis al-Naqqash as a resistace figure in the Islamic world? A: None of the writers, researchers, thinkers and politicians can comprehend the volume of organizational works and achievements of the late Anis al-Naqqash.
He spent his honorable life in struggle, jihad, and thinking in order to support the deprived and the vulnerable people.
He was crafting and developing practical strategies to be practiced and applied on the ground. He made every effort to establish a school of thought by which everyone who believes in resistance, jihad, and change in the Arab and Islamic world could join in.
Q: Why did he focus on research and studies after a period of struggle and Jihad?
A: I think that Anis al-Naqqash believed that a continuous struggle entailed delving into the field of research and studies, therefore, he harnessed all his intellectual energies to secure and protect the achievements of the resistance movement.
Just as the revolution needs honest revolutionaries who believe in the sacrifice for the message of the revolution and its success and victory, it requires sincere leaders, thinkers, and geniuses to maintain its dynamism and progress towards the goals and interests of peoples and nations in the region and the world.
Q: What are the works of Anis al-Naqqash in the field of research and science? A: Naqqash had great and huge achievements in the field of research and science; he was the head and coordinator of the Aman Network for Strategic Studies, an analyst, and a global strategic political expert, brilliant in his insightful political outlook.
Anyone who wants to know and analyze the developments in West Asia, as well as conflicts and wars that are taking place in our Arab and Islamic world, was waiting for his media appearances.
One of his most important scientific and political researches that will see popularity among politicians, researchers, and thinkers after his death is his book “The Eastern Confederation; A Struggle between Identities and Policies”.
In this book, Naqqash sets out a strategy for uniting intellectual, political, and military efforts and energies in the Middle East (West Asia) in order to form a coalition to resist Zionist-American hegemony and authoritarianism.
Q: What are the main sources that actually inspired Anis al-Naqqash in his struggle and scientific life?
A: Before the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the late Anis al-Naqqash was a fighter in the front ranks of the Palestinian resistance in Lebanon and one of the most prominent security and military figures in it. He participated in military operations outside Lebanon for the sake of the Palestinian cause.
After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Naqqash was associated with the Iranian revolutionaries, where he found his intellectual and revolutionary goals in line with this great revolution. He served as a coordinator between the Islamic revolution and the Palestinian resistance and regarded the late Imam Khomeini, his honorable leader, and inspirer who possesses all the elements of leadership for the Ummah.
Q: What is the position of Palestine in Anis Naqqash’s thinking?
A: Palestine was reflected in the whole life of the late Anis al-Naqqash, from cradle to grave, until he was called “friend of Palestine” and the Palestinian flag did not leave him until his honorable coffin was wrapped in it.
His relationship with Palestine is like the relationship of the soul to the body, oxygen to the lung, and the mother to her child.
He gave Palestine all his breath, thought, and genius in support of Palestine, the resistance fighters, and the oppressed people.
In one of the stories told by General Qassem Suleimani on the 2006 July War in Lebanon, the iconic Iranian commander was about to face death along with Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah and prominent military commander in the Lebanese Resistance’s group Hajj Imad Mughniyeh.
“Once during the war, I was with Sayyed Nasrallah and Hajj Imad. We were about to face death,” Suleimani said in an interview in October 2019, referring to Mughniyeh, who was assassinated by Israeli Mossad in Damascus in February 12, 2008.
One of the places where the three were residing in during the war, in Beirut’s southern suburb (Dahiyeh), was no longer safe, as narrated by Suleimani.
After leaving the site, the three men reached a place where they sat under a tree to take rest. Mughniyeh asked Suleimani to protect Sayyed Nasrallah, the Iranian general told the office for preservation and dissemination of the works of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei during the 2019 interview.
“Minutes later, Hajj Imad returned, driving a car. Just few moments after Sayyed Nasrallah and I rode the car, Israeli missiles hit the site,” General Suleimani said.
“Hajj Imad drove the car fast and just in few minutes we reached a remote area. As we realized that we were safe we had one reaction: we started to laugh,” General Suleimani added.
Smiling while narrating the story, General Suleimani concluded it by saying: “Till now, I can’t stop thinking about something that I couldn’t ask Hajj Imad about: Where did the car come from?!”
The interview with General Suleimani was just few months before his martyrdom in January 3, 2020, in a US strike near Baghdad airport. He was martyred along with Deputy Commander of Iraq’s Hashd Shaabi Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis.
Beirut – Hezbollah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned the ‘Israeli’ enemy that the Lebanese resistance movement will strike sensitive Zionist military targets in case the enemy used a similar pretext to bomb Lebanese cities.
In a televised speech on Tuesday marking Hezbollah’s Martyr Leaders Day, Sayyed Nasrallah said that the occasion follows the 42nd anniversary of the Islamic revolution in Iran, which is an example on maintaining sovereignty and independence.
The resistance leader’s speech commemorated the martyrdom anniversaries of Sheikh Ragheb Harb, Sayyed Abbas al-Mousawi and Hajj Imad Mughniyeh.
“Forty-two years have passed on the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran; The Isalmic Republic resisted and developed on every level until it became a great and considerable regional power,” His Eminence stated.
Regarding the Bahraini revolution’s February 14th anniversary, Sayyed Nasrallah further hailed the Bahraini people who sacrificed a lot to obtain their freedom, atop of them is Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, adding that “the Bahraini people are struggling to return their country to its normal situation after its rulers have turned it into a base for normalization with ‘Israel’.”
Praising the common characteristics of martyr leaders enjoyed, Sayyed Nasrallah said that they were dedicated to resistance and tolerated all hard circumstances to develop the project of resistance.
“The resistance of our martyr leaders developed and became followed by the enemy before the friend because it threatens its existence,” His Eminence underscored, noting that in our time, “We need stances similar to those of Sheikh Ragheb Harb to confront normalization with ‘Israel’.”
We preserve the will of Sayyed Abbas al-Moussawi by preserving the resistance and serving the people, Sayyed Nasrallah added, stressing that “The most important service we offer to the people is to preserve their existence and defend their lands, dignity and country.”
“We carry on the will of Sayyed Abbas al-Moussawi and work within it in all fields, and when an ‘Israeli’ or a terrorist threat endangers our people we won’t hesitate in defending our honorable people.”
In the same context, the Hezbollah leader stressed that “We need the spirit of martyr Imad Mughniyeh to develop the project of resistance, and the brothers of Hajj Imad are doing this nowadays.”
Internationalizing Lebanese Affairs
Elsewhere in his remarks, His Eminence slammed any talks about an international resolution under the United Nations Charter VII regarding the formation of the Lebanese government, which he referred to as a call to war towards which we mustn’t remain silent.
“Calling for internationalization to resolve domestic issues is unacceptable regardless of who said so, and it can pave the way for undesirable consequences,” His eminence added.
“Internationalizing the Lebanese issue contradicts the country’s sovereignty and could be a cover to a new occupation. It would open the door wide to settling Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. We reject any form of internationalizing the Lebanese issue, which we find a danger that threatens Lebanon,” Sayyed Nasrallah outlined.
The anti-Hezbollah Chorus
Commenting on the electronic armies and the media outlets that grab any incident to point the blame on Hezbollah, Sayyed Nasrallah described those sides as saying “There is a chorus in Lebanon whose goal is to insult Hezbollah without any pretext. This only represents them, and all of their acts won’t affect us.”
In this respect, the resistance leader called on its audience not to be dragged to this chorus’ behavior as all the blamed accusations contradict all norms, laws and traditions.
“There is a systematic, managed and paid targeting of Hezbollah. This campaign has failed to distort the image of resistance within its people. Some reactions by some of the resistance’s audience as a result of this campaign shouldn’t be considered as an act of the entire audience, although they should be dealt with,” Sayyed Nasrallah made clear.
The Beirut Port Mystery?
In reference to the yet unannounced results of investigations regarding the Beirut Port blast which have already ended, Sayyed Nasrallah noted that he had previously called on the Lebanese Army, the Internal Security, and the Judiciary to announce the result.
“It is the duty of the concerned parties in the Lebanese Judiciary to announce the results of the investigations regarding the Beirut Port blast, and we have been told that the due amounts of insurances for the families of the martyrs and the owners of damaged properties is estimated at $1.2 billion,” His Eminence said while renewing calls for announcing the results of the investigations.
Lebanese Government Formation
“Nobody doesn’t want the formation of a Lebanese government,” the Hezbollah leader emphasized, adding that “It is in everybody’s interest to form a government, and talking about waiting the Iranian nuclear issue is baseless.”
“Waiting foreign powers is futile and pressures may push some sides to adhere to their stances. It is unjust to hold the president responsible for not forming the government.”
Pointing that Hezbollah understands other parties’ demands to hold certain portfolios, Sayyed Nasrallah noted that “We don’t understand insisting on forming an 18-minister government while some sides believe that the aim behind this is to eliminate their participation.”
The Hezbollah-FPM Understanding
On the 15th anniversary of the understanding that was made between Hezbollah and the Free Patriotic Movement, Sayyed Nasrallah pointed to that the resistance movement wanted it to be a base for wider understandings with other powers.
“The understanding has made a group of achievements that served Lebanon, Hezbollah, and the FPM. We don’t agree on some negative remarks that were made by the FPM as they serve as a material for those who are waiting such things.”
Meanwhile, Sayyed Nasrallah affirmed the solid relationship with the FPM and expressed keenness to develop it.
Lebanon As Seen Via Social Media
Sayyed Nasrallah made clear that Tel Aviv, Washington, and their allies announce that they form electronic armies to cause strife and disputes.
“There are sides that want to cause an explosion in Lebanon via what is happening on social media platforms,” Sayyed Nasrallah said before calling for strong presence on social media platforms while adhering to awareness, politeness and not harming anybody.
The post-Trump Region
Pointing to the major developments that took place in the region and the world after Trump’s departure, Sayyed Nasrallah insisted that Lebanon is a key part in the region which is affected by all the developments that take place in it.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has shown endurance and braveness regarding its nuclear issue, and there are clear ‘Israeli’ and Saudi concerns regarding it.”
As for the revival of Daesh [the Arabic acronym for terrorist ‘ISIS/ISIL’ group], Sayyed Nasrallah said that “The Americans’ talking that their mission doesn’t include protecting the oil in Syria anymore came along with reviving Daesh,” making clear that the Americans want to remain in Syria and Iraq.
“They might mobilize Daesh in both countries, and the new US administration is using this pretext to remain there,” His Eminence noted, stressing however that “those who defeated Daesh in the past will defeat it again, and working to defeat the terrorist organization should be crushing so that it won’t be able to be revived.”
The Steadfast Yemen
In reference to the new US administration of Joe Biden, Sayyed Nasrallah said that Washington’s announcement of ending its support for the war on Yemen is a positive step that is a result of the Yemenis’ steadfastness, noting that any call for ending the war on Yemen is positive, and the brothers in Yemen are aware of the situation, which is normal and required.
“The Yemenis steadfastness and tolerance of the siege, the pain, and the bombing pushed the silent world to issue daily reports to defend the aggressive Saudi Arabia, and the Yemeni Army today is in an advanced place, and the other side is screaming in Marib due to the progress the Yemenis are making,” Sayyed Nasrallah explained.
“The honest and steadfast Yemenis will bear the fruits of their steadfastness, and the concerns are growing among Saudi Arabia and the enemy’s entity.”
The Declining ‘Deal of the Century’
Mentioning that the ‘Deal of the Century’ has majorly decreased, Sayyed Nasrallah found it as a clear explanation that it either ended or is declining. “This is a source of concern for the ‘Israelis’ and the Saudis.”
The persistence of the Palestinians and the Axis of Resistance in the face of Trump resulted in the decline of the ‘Deal of the Century’, His Eminence noted, criticizing the Zionists exaggeration regarding the Arab acceptance of normalization: “We’ve seen the stances of the Bahraini people, and before them the Egyptian and Jordanian people against the normalization.”
He then urged boycotting the ‘Israeli’ enemy and rejecting normalization as an important step that represents the religious and national sense of belonging.
“Rulers in Sudan will realize that normalization won’t solve their economic problems, which already happened with countries that normalized ties years earlier,” Sayyed Nasrallah said, noting that some people’s visits to the enemy’s entity or the actions of some electronic armies don’t express the Arab and Muslim popular mood.
It Is the Era of the ‘Axis of Resistance’
In response to hollow remarks made by ‘Israeli’ military chief Aviv Kochavi, Sayyed Nasrallah concluded with a clear and precise message.
His Eminence warned that the game of combat days is a dangerous one for the ‘Israelis’ as nobody can guarantee that such a game won’t lead to an inclusive and major war.
Kochavi claimed that the Zionist military will not hesitate to launch an attack in full force against any civilian neighborhoods, installations or even residences where unmanned missiles, rockets and aircraft are being stored or launched from.
“We will take part in any confrontation imposed on us, and I say it clearly: bombing cities for bombing cities, and bombing settlements for bombing villages.”
Using pretexts of striking military targets inside cities will be responded to by bombing military targets inside the enemy’s cities, the resistance leader insisted.
“In a case a war broke out, the ‘Israelis’ shouldn’t brag about their strength as the enemy’s internal front will face incidents that it didn’t witness since the establishment of this entity in 1948.”
“This is why I tell you to stop playing with fire,” Sayyed Nasrallah emphasized, telling the enemy that it should be aware of its limits.
“The time when the enemy threatens people and they remain silent has gone! There is a resistance from Gaza to Lebanon to the entire regional countries.”
This matter cannot be run the same way they used to in old mentalities, Sayyed Nasrallah said. “It is a different time; it is the era of the Axis of Resistance which is following all developments quietly and precisely.
“Don’t think for a moment that all the ongoing developments would affect the will of the resistance to confront or change the equations,” Sayyed Nasrallah conluded.

The video shows martyr Nughniyeh whispering in the ear of Sayyed Nasrallah about the details of the operations which proved later to be very efficient.
On February 12, 2008, Hezbollah’s top military commander Hajj Imad Moghniyeh was martyred in a car bomb attack carried out by Israeli Mossad agents.
The occasion also marks the anniversary of late Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Abbas al-Mousawi who was martyred, along with his wife and son, when an Israeli airstrike attacked his convoy as he was attending the commemoration anniversary of Sheikh Ragheb Harb on February 16, 1992.
The martyr Sheikh Harb was assassinated by an Israeli agent on February 16, 1984.
