The Government Media Office in Gaza confirms the Israeli occupation forces committed a total of 3,025 massacres against Palestinians in the Strip.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed Tuesday that the number of Palestinians killed as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression since October 7 has risen to 34,183 and those injured to 77,143.

In its daily report, the Ministry said that the Israeli occupation forces have committed three massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, resulting in 32 martyrs and 59 injuries who were transferred to hospitals in the past 24 hours.

It noted that many victims of the Israeli aggression remain trapped under rubble and on roads inaccessible to ambulance and civil defense crews.

A total of 3,025 massacres

On its part, the Government Media Office in Gaza confirmed that the Israeli occupation forces have committed a total of 3,025 massacres against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and dropped 75,000 tonnes of explosives on the enclave.

In an update on the figures resulting from 200 days of “Israel’s” genocidal war on Gaza, the Office emphasized that out of the 34,183 martyrs who reached hospitals, 14,778 are children and 9,752 are women. It added that 30 children lost their lives due to famine, confirming that 72% of the victims of the Israeli war were children and women.

According to the report, the Israeli occupation forces killed 485 medical staff, 67 civil defense crews, and 140 journalists.

It said that 7,000 are still missing and 17,000 children are now orphaned, living without one or both parents.

1,090,000 people suffered from infectious diseases

The Office mentioned that 11,000 wounded people are in need of travel for surgical procedures, while 10,000 cancer patients are facing death in need of treatment.

Touching on the collapsing health sector in the Strip, the report said that 32 hospitals and 53 health centers are now out of service due to the Israeli war on Gaza. It added that the occupation forces targeted 160 healthcare facilities and 126 ambulances.

It said that 1,090,000 people suffered from infectious diseases, and 8,000 cases of viral hepatitis infections due to displacement were reported.

In addition, the lives of 60,000 pregnant women and 350,000 patients with chronic diseases are at risk due to the lack of healthcare and medication.

According to the Office, Israeli occupation forces detained 5,000 people, including 310 healthcare professionals and 20 journalists, during its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.

Two million people displaced

Two million people are now displaced due to the Israeli war on Gaza, with the occupation forces completely destroying 86,000 residential units and partially destroying 294,000, the report confirmed.

It added that the Israeli occupation forces destroyed 181 governmental buildings, completely destroyed 103 educational institutions, and partially destroyed 309.

The Israeli occupation forces also did not spare places of worship from its strikes, destroying 239 mosques and partially destroying 317, in addition to targeting and destroying three churches.

Elsewhere, the report said that the Israeli occupation destroyed 206 archaeological and heritage sites in the Gaza Strip.

In total, the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza has caused 30 billion dollars in direct initial losses.

Israeli forces attempting to empty schools sheltering displaced Palestinians

In a related context, Al Mayadeen‘s correspondent in Gaza reported that the Israeli occupation forces have been carrying out airstrikes on the Strip coinciding with excavation operations since last night.

Our correspondent mentioned that Israeli naval vessels opened fire toward the coast of Deir al-Balah city in central Gaza, adding that Israeli warplanes launched an airstrike east of Salah al-Din Street in al-Bureij camp.

This comes in parallel with confrontations between Palestinian Resistance fighters and the raiding Israeli occupation forces, especially in the eastern areas of Beit Hanoun and east of Jabalia camp.

According to our correspondent, Israeli occupation forces are attempting to empty schools sheltering displaced Palestinians, including the Tal al-Rabi’ and Tal al-Zaatar schools.

He mentioned that Israeli warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on Highway 10 south of the al-Zaytoun neighborhood, adding that Israeli shelling of a house in the Nuseirat camp, in central Gaza, killed one Palestinian and injured several.

Elsewhere, our correspondent in Gaza said another Palestinian was killed by Israeli drone fire targeting a group of civilians at a playground in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza Strip.

Three Israeli settlers have been injured in what Israeli occupation police have described as an attack by stabbing, while the Palestinians who allegedly carried out the attack are on the run. The incident, which involved a car hitting two settlers at separate locations, has left occupation authorities on high alert as the suspects fled the scene on foot.

The Israeli occupation police claimed that a Carlo submachine gun was found along the escape route of the Palestinians, adding that a large number of officers were dispatched to track the two.

The media reported the closure of the Qalandia checkpoint, adding that a helicopter is being used in the search and sweep operation.

Iran: The age of change has begun

 April 20, 2024

Source: Al Mayadeen’s Political Editor

The changes that followed October 7 and “Israel’s” attempt to defeat Hamas, only expedited the establishment of the new Iranian strategic security approach. (Al Mayadeen Net)

By Al Mayadeen English

Despite sanctions, Iran has been transforming its economy and has succeeded in shifting the political equation against “Israel”, starting with Operation True Promise.

The latest developments between Tehran and Tel Aviv reflect a shift in Iran’s previous strategy in confronting “Israel”, encompassed in the change of what Iranian officials dubbed “strategic patience”.

The extensive range of rocket-based operations launched deep into occupied territories indicates that Iran seeks to establish deterrence against “Israel” and its Western allies’ military policies in the Middle East. With this consideration, Iran’s viewpoint becomes clear: The age of change has begun, and the future of the security organization in the region would not be stable without preserving Iran’s political and economic interests.

The changes that followed October 7 and “Israel’s” attempt to defeat Hamas, only expedited the establishment of Iran’s new strategic security approach.

The Yemeni Armed Forces, with their army and the Ansar Allah resistance fighters, joined the conflict directly against “Israel”, and threatened its interests in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which simultaneously alerted the world.

And it seems like Tehran, through its strategic relations with Sanaa, is saying that it will not take lightly to movements against its interests in the region. Western countries are now well aware of that reality, and due to their growing concerns regarding the economic losses stemming from the hazards facing maritime trade security, they have increasingly pressured “Israel” over the recent weeks to dilute its military operations in Gaza.

Netanyahu’s disruptive government suffered the most intense damage, which could lead to his sacking mid-war. To overcome this crisis, Netanyahu tried to find a safe space for himself and attempted to control the opposition by directly targeting the Iranian consulate in Damascus and expanding tensions.

A shift in the political, strategic equation

The attack against the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1 led, on one hand, to the martyrdom of seven Iranian military officials, but on the other hand, senior Iranian officials, such as the leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei, considered it to be an attack against Iranian sovereignty and land. In other words, “Israel” overstepped Iran’s red lines and necessitated the decisive Iranian response to preserve the established strategic equation and place clear boundaries against “Israel’s” policy of aggression.

Related News

In the early days after the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate, experts evaluated the Iranian response but showed contradicting views. Some speculated that it would be restrained, to avoid escalations or direct military confrontations against “Israel” and the United States. Meanwhile, some Western officials went as far as to contact Tehran to dissuade it from responding to “Israel”, citing warnings of the consequences. But the Iranian response would later signify a shock in reality, prompting different analyses of Iran.

The extensive missile and drone attacks launched against Israeli military bases from Iranian soil were out of the question for analysts and officials around the globe. Practically, the failure of the Israeli defenses, and the arrival of several Iranian missiles to their military targets, drew a clear scene of the Israeli defenses’ weakness. That comes regardless of the false Israeli claims about the failure of the Iranian attack or the intervention of several countries, particularly US, French, and British defenses, that have defended “Israel” during the attack.

The attack was in reality a monumental step in the formation of a new equation to balance the regional powers. Iran warning Washington against interfering in regional conflicts added another piece to this domino, which is now complete as the US backed away.

Besides the Iranian authorities’ trust in their own capabilities and military strength, it seems as though Iran prepared for the months leading up to this phase and anticipated the escalation of tensions as one of many scenarios. Following decades of harsh economic sanctions, “Israel” expected Iran’s calculations to be different regarding its response due to worries about increased economic troubles. The operation was speculated to have a lesser impact on “Israel”, but Iran’s extensive missile attack proved that it overcame these worries.

Iran transforms its economy despite sanctions

Iranian media published several reports revealing that the government noticeably increased its reserves in goods over the past few months, and ended a significant portion of its dependence on exports. But the stronger card placed on the table was the change in foreign asset reserves in the central bank, as sanctioned countries seek to nullify a large number of sanctions imposed on them by transforming their reserves to gold and precious metals without causing an economic crisis in the country.

Information shared by trusted foreign sources stated that the Iranian Central Bank increased its gold and precious metal reserves over the past three months, in an unprecedented move. This shows that Iran is working on finding a safe method to fund foreign trade despite the pressure of US sanctions, starting with the private and non-oil trade sectors, which allowed Iranian tradespeople to pay their forwards of foreign currency with gold.

In the same context, the stability and decrease in the value of the US dollar in the Iranian market after the Israeli attack and the Iranian response is also an indicator of the central bank’s success in curbing the effects of political actions on the market and Iran’s success in regaining the trust of its tradespeople.

The retaliatory operation on April 19 proved that Israeli officials faced a change in their previous ideas regarding Iran’s determination to respond militarily, which has shaken “Israel’s” standing on the chessboard with Iran.

Speaker of the Iranian Shura Council, Muhammad Bagher Ghalibaf states that Iran’s military action is part of the response to the Zionist aggression and within the framework of the United Nations Charter.

The Speaker of the Iranian Shura Council, Muhammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that the slap delivered by the Iranian people to the Zionist enemy was precise, teaching “Israel” a lesson.

He added the Iranian response would be tougher if the Zionist entity should make any movement.

In a speech at the Council’s public session this morning, Ghalibaf also said that the Iranian people’s protectors’ precise response delighted the hearts of “our people.”

He stressed that this Iranian military action is part of the response to the Zionist aggression [on the Iranian consulate in Damascus] and within the framework of the United Nations Charter.

Attack on Iran will lead to response ‘twice the force’: IRGC commander

A high-ranking officer in the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) cautioned that if “Israel” carries out any more military attacks on the country’s territory, then Iran will respond with a more significant retaliation.

Talking to Press TV, the senior IRGC commander warned that any attack on Iranian soil would see a response with “twice the force”.

His comments came after the IRGC launched a massive operation late April 13, targeting the occupation entity with dozens of missiles and drones in response to the attack on Iran’s consulate in Damascus last week, which resulted in the martyrdom of seven senior IRGC advisors, including Brigadier General martyr Mohammad Reza Zahedi, the leader of the IRGC’s Quds Force in Syria and Lebanon.

In a statement, the IRGC said that the operation targeting “Israel,” dubbed “True Promise,” came following the “silence and neglect” of international organizations regarding the attack on the consulate and the assassination of its senior members. The statement pointed out that the United Nations Security Council also failed to condemn Israeli aggression or punish the entity in accordance with Article 7 of the UN Charter.

Austin’s ‘no genocide’ in Gaza remarks met with bloody-handed protests

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators have stormed Capitol Hill and interrupted Lloyd Austin’s speech, calling for the end of the genocide in Gaza.

In a show of solidarity with Gaza, pro-Palestine protesters interrupted US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, cutting his speech off in a Senate committee hearing as he attempted to dismiss “Israel’s” blatant violation of international law and genocide in Gaza.

Demonstrators took turns calling out “Israel’s” military conduct in Gaza, the United States’ backing of the genocide, and its determination to supply the occupation with military aid and weapons.

Video footage showed demonstrators with red-stained hands, relaying a message that the US has blood on its hands, with questions such as: “How many children have to die for you to be satisfied?” and slogans like: “Stop bombing Gaza, stop funding Israel” and “Stop the genocide in Gaza” raised before being forced out of the chamber.

Protesters also slammed the US policy of massively funding the Israeli “war machine” while public services such as healthcare and education remained neglected.

Austin had a hearing session at a Senate Armed Services Committee to relay the latest developments in “Israel’s” war against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

Mid-protests, Arkansas Rep. Senator Tom Cotton asked Austin to address the demonstrators’ remarks and if “Israel” was committing genocide in Gaza. In response, Austin said there were no indications of a genocide

Related News

“So that’s a no? Israel is not committing genocide in Gaza?” Cotton emphasized, to which Austin replied, “We do not have evidence of that, to my knowledge.”

Meanwhile, police arrested at least 50 peaceful protesters, including clergy members and several Christian factions, who blocked a cafeteria for senators, their aides, and visitors on Capitol Hill. They chanted: “The Senate and their staffers cannot eat until Gaza eats” before authorities shut it down.

Turning a blind eye to blinding evidence…

Last week, Senator Elizabeth Warren said “Israel” could be found guilty of genocide by international officials during an event at a mosque.

While taking questions from her audience at the Islamic Center of Boston in Wayland, Warren was asked about the legal proceedings against “Israel” at the International Court of Justice and was specifically asked to share her own opinion, Politico reported.

The Massachusetts Democrat responded, saying, “If you want to do it as an application of law, I believe that they’ll find that it is genocide, and they have ample evidence to do so.”

It is worth noting that the toll of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip has risen to 33,482 martyrs and 76,049 wounded since the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza in the wake of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.

The Palestinian Ministry reported that 122 people were killed and 56 others were wounded as a result of the occupation’s aggression on Wednesday.

This comes as “Israel” and the US alike continue to claim to be protecting civilian lives in Gaza, as per the legal proceedings of the International Court of Justice amid South Africa’s genocide lawsuit against the occupation.

Day 188: IOF Wages Operation in Gaza’s Nuseirat, Goes Ahead with Brutal Aggression

April 11, 2024

Israeli occupation army proceeds its brutal aggression on Gaza Strip, with military operation being waged in the enclave’s central area of Nuseirat.

Palestinian media reported massive raids in the refugee camp of Nuseirat overnight. The strikes were followed by a military push on the ground into the northern part of the Nuseirat camp.

Al-Jazeera reported that when the military announced its withdrawal from southern Khan Younis, it kept an entire brigade in the area that separates northern Gaza from the south, adding that Nuseirat is very close to deploy troops to the area.

Israeli occupation army announced it launched a “targeted operation” against Hamas in the central Gaza Strip overnight, on the outskirts of Nuseirat, an area where ground troops have not yet operated during the ongoing war.

“Before troops of the 162nd Division’s 401st Armored Brigade, Nahal Infantry Brigade, and other units maneuvered into the area, the Israeli Air Force and 215th Artillery Regiment carried out strikes against dozens of Hamas targets, including tunnel infrastructure,” the occupation army declared.

More Strikes, Death Toll

In conjunction with air strikes on Nuseirat camp, Israeli gunboats shelled homes in the Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City, killing multiple civilians, according to local sources cited by the Wafa news agency.

Elsewhere in the southern district of Rafah, Israeli strikes killed at least eight people, the Wafa news agency reports, citing medical sources.

Five of the martyrs were killed when Israeli warplanes struck a group of people near a cemetery in eastern Rafah, while three were killed by strikes that hit Rafah’s Janina neighborhood, also to the east, the news report said.

Health Ministry in Gaza announced that the death toll of the Israeli aggression now stands at 33,545, while the number of injured people reaches 76,094 since October 7.

It added that, Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip killed 63 people and wounded 45 others over the past 24 hours.

UNICEF Convoy Hit

Meanwhile, a UNICEF aid convoy was hit by Israeli gunfire in the latest attack on humanitarian relief workers in Gaza.

Tess Ingram, a UNICEF spokesperson, was in a convoy hit by Israeli gunfire as it tried to deliver aid to northern Gaza.

She said the vehicles were at a “holding point” – a designated area where cars have to wait until a checkpoint is ready to receive them.

“We were waiting there when gunfire broke out in the vicinity. The gunfire came from the direction of the checkpoint towards civilians who then ran away from the checkpoint and the gunfire hit us,” Ingram said.

Israeli medical negligence kills Palestinian detainee Walid Daqqa

By Al Mayadeen English

One of the most prominent writers and thinkers of the Palestinian Captive Movement, Daqqa was martyred inside Assaf Harofeh Hospital after a nearly four-decade-long struggle in Israeli prisons.

Palestinian detainee Walid Daqqa was martyred inside Assaf Harofeh Hospital on Sunday, following a nearly four-decade-long struggle in Israeli occupation prisons, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) confirmed on Sunday evening.

Throughout his imprisonment, Daqqa endured numerous forms of mistreatment, torture, and notably, medical negligence.

This comes shortly after the human rights group Amnesty International called on “Israel” to release Daqqa on humanitarian grounds on Saturday. The rights group affirmed that the Palestinian detainee had suffered torture, humiliation, lack of family visits, and medical neglect, particularly since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza on October 7, 2023.

On March 13, the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) announced that the cancer-stricken detainee had been transferred to Assaf Harofeh Hospital as his health further deteriorated following deliberate medical negligence.

At the time, Daqqa’s family made an urgent appeal, explaining the urgency of his health situation. The family urged that Daqqa be considered at the top of the list of detainees in the first upcoming exchange deal, given his deteriorating medical conditions.

Daqqa’s case was considered the most critical among the seriously ill Palestine detainees. His wife, Sanaa Salameh, has constantly reiterated to Al Mayadeen that the Israeli occupation is deliberately subjecting her husband to the policy of systematic medical negligence in an attempt to assassinate him.

It is worth noting that the Palestinian Ministry of Detainees and Ex-Detainees had held the Israeli occupation responsible for Daqqa’s well-being on several occasions.

Who is Walid Daqqa?

Daqqa was born in the town of Baqa al-Gharbiya, in northern occupied Palestinian ’48 territories. He joined the ranks of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) in 1983 and was assigned to a military cell of the front. Alongside his comrades in the PFLP, Daqqa conducted a series of operations against Israeli occupation forces and took captive Moshi Tamam an Israeli soldier.

He was detained two years later and initially received a death sentence, which was later reduced to 37 years in prison. In 2018, the Israeli occupation added another two years to his sentence, on charges of smuggling phones to prisoners to help them communicate with their families.

A few years ago, his wife, Sanaa Salameh, was able to give birth to their daughter, Milad, after smuggling his sperm from prison. Upon discovering this, “Israel” imposed harsh penalties on Daqqa, admitting him to solitary confinement and restricting his visitation rights.

Daqqa is considered one of the most prominent writers and thinkers of the Palestinian Captive Movement. “Israel” punished him for his resistance, denying him access to proper medical care and early release despite his declining health.

In December 2022, he was diagnosed with advanced bone marrow cancer and urgently required a transplant, which he has not yet received.

On May 22, 2023, Daqqa was moved to the intensive care unit at Assaf Harofeh Hospital near “Tel Aviv” due to worsening health issues. However, three days later, Israeli authorities transferred him back to “Ramleh” prison’s clinic, known for its harsh conditions, despite calls from human rights organizations to keep him hospitalized for continuous monitoring and treatment if he is not released.

His continued detention contradicted the 1993 Oslo Accords, which included a provision for the release of all Palestinian detainees held before the agreement was signed.

During his detention, Daqqa was denied the opportunity to bid farewell to his father before his passing or to visit his mother, who suffered from Alzheimer’s, a decade ago.

Despite being mentioned in four previous prisoner exchange deals, he was excluded from them. Additionally, he was unable to leave prison to meet his daughter, Milad, who used to accompany her mother to protests advocating for her father’s release.

Daqqa endured acute pneumonia and renal failure, leading to surgery on April 12, 2023, during which a significant portion of his right lung was removed. Subsequently, he faced complications from the surgery, along with severe respiratory issues and infection.

Despite restrictions such as book bans, Daqqa attained bachelor’s and master’s degrees while in prison. Additionally, he authored novels, articles, and poems about the Palestinian Resistance against the Israeli occupation, which gained global recognition.

The Israeli occupation forces persist in their aggression against the Gaza Strip for the 183rd consecutive day, resulting in numerous civilian casualties, including fatalities and injuries, due to missile strikes, artillery shelling, and airstrikes conducted by the occupying forces.

A number of Palestinians were killed and others injured in an Israeli missile and artillery bombardment at dawn on Saturday targeting homes of civilians in various areas of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) targeted residential homes in the al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, as well as the al-Sabra neighborhood in its center, and the Tal al-Hawa and Sheikh Ajlin neighborhoods, southwest of the city. This resulted in the deaths of three civilians and approximately ten others being injured. The wounded were subsequently transported to the Baptist Hospital in the city for treatment.

The occupation artillery also bombed civilian homes in the areas of al-Mughraqa, al-Zahraa, and the northern outskirts of the Nuseirat Camp in the center of the Gaza Strip, which led to injuries among citizens, as a result of which they were transferred to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the city of Deir al-Balah, in the center of the Gaza Strip.

The IOF bombed civilian property in the town of Beit Hanoun, located north of the Gaza Strip.

Occupation forces also launched multiple shells toward the southwestern neighborhoods of Khan Younis, located in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, simultaneously with Israeli warplanes conducting raids on the central and western areas of the city.

On the 182nd consecutive day of aggression on the Strip, the Health Ministry in Gaza reported that the Israeli occupation committed a total of 5 massacres against Palestinian families in 24 hours only, killing 54 and injuring 82.

This increased the total number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip since the Israeli aggression on Gaza started on October 7 to 33,091, in addition to 75,750 injuries.

Compounding the devastation, some victims are still trapped under rubble and on roads, presumed dead, with the Israeli occupation hindering the arrival of ambulance and civil defense teams.

Israeli occupation Forces Fatally Shoot Palestinian in West Bank Raid, Retreat Under Resistance Fire

April 5, 2024

Live News – Middle East – News – Palestine – Top

Early this Friday morning, a Palestinian young man identified as Saed Abu Alawi was shot dead by Israeli occupation forces after they raided the Nour Shams refugee camp, east of Tulkarm city in the occupied West Bank. Several others were detained during the raid.

Reports indicate that Abu Alawi was shot by an Israeli sniper in the chin and neck while on the rooftop of his home, leaving behind a wife and an unborn child.

The raid was reportedly conducted by undercover Israeli occupation police officers in the nearby town of Tulkarm to apprehend three wanted Palestinians. However, the incursion led to intense confrontations with Palestinian resistance fighters, including the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades – Rapid Response Group, who successfully repelled the Israeli occupation forces using live ammunition and explosives.

As the Israeli occupation military faced heavy Resistance fire, they were forced to retreat from the camp. In a simultaneous raid on the Jenin refugee camp, at least two Palestinians were injured, with one in critical condition. The violence sparked confrontations in the town of Kafr Rai, where additional arrests were made.
Furthermore, Israeli occupation forces assaulted worshippers at the al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied al-Quds, firing tear gas canisters and detaining several individuals.
The brutal crackdown on Palestinians continues, with over 457 killed and 8,030 detained since the start of the Gaza genocide.

UNHRC passes resolution to halt all arms supplies to ‘Israel’

By Al Mayadeen English

The UN Human Rights Council issues a strongly worded call for an immediate cessation of all arms sales to “Israel”, citing grave concerns over potential genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The UN Human Rights Council urged a halt to all arms sales to “Israel”, citing concerns of genocide in Gaza, where over 33,000 people have been killed.

The resolution, approved with 28 out of 47 member states of the council voting in favor, six against, and 13 abstentions, signifies the first instance of the United Nations’ primary human rights body taking a stance on the deadliest Israeli aggression on Gaza.

Meirav Eilon Shahar, Israeli ambassador to the UN in Geneva, denounced the resolution as “a stain for the Human Rights Council and for the UN as a whole.”

The strongly worded statement urged nations to “cease the sale, transfer, and diversion of arms, munitions, and other military equipment to Israel… to prevent further violations of international humanitarian law and violations and abuses of human rights.”

It emphasized that in January, the International Court of Justice determined “that there is a plausible risk of genocide.”

The resolution presented on Friday, initiated by Pakistan on behalf of all member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) except Albania, also demanded an “immediate ceasefire” and urged for urgent humanitarian access and aid.

‘Wake up and stop the genocide’

Before the vote, Palestinian Ambassador Ibrahim Mohammad Khraishi addressed the council saying, “We need you all to wake up and stop this genocide, a genocide televised around the world.”

Despite acknowledging the unbearable civilian death toll in Gaza, Washington, a key ally, voted against the resolution, along with Germany, Argentina, Bulgaria, Malawi, and Paraguay.

Shift in tide: More US voices join opposition to Israeli war on Gaza

It is worth noting that US Ambassador Michele Taylor highlighted “Israel’s” insufficient efforts to minimize civilian casualties. However, she claimed that Washington couldn’t endorse the resolution due to its perceived flaws. The vote occurred after the UN Security Council in New York recently approved a ceasefire resolution, partly due to Washington abstaining from voting.

UNHRC resolution warns of Rafah invasion

The resolution from the rights council consistently referred to “Israel”, calling on the entity to cease its occupation of Palestinian territories entirely and to promptly remove its blockade on the Gaza Strip, as well as any other types of collective punishment.

The revised version of the text, updated late, on Thursday, to eliminate various mentions of genocide, still conveyed deep apprehension regarding statements from Israeli officials that could be construed as incitement to genocide.

Furthermore, it called on nations to intervene to halt the ongoing forced displacement of Palestinians from both within and outside Gaza. Specifically, it cautioned against extensive military actions in Rafah city, situated in the southern region of the densely populated Gaza Strip, where more than one million civilians are seeking refuge, emphasizing the potential dire humanitarian outcomes.

The resolution additionally denounced the tactic of using starvation against civilians as a form of warfare in Gaza, where the United Nations has issued warnings of an imminent famine.

It emphasized the urgent need for credible, prompt, and thorough accountability for all breaches of international law in Gaza. The resolution urged UN investigators of war crimes, who were assigned to examine the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories prior to October 7, to investigate all direct and indirect transfers or sales of arms, ammunition, components, and dual-use items to “Israel”. In a different yet related context, diplomatic sources informed Al Mayadeen, on Thursday, that German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock urged NATO allies to block a draft UN resolution calling for an immediate cessation of arms exports to “Israel”.

According to the sources, Baerbock reportedly told her counterparts during a meeting of NATO foreign ministers at its headquarters in Brussels to pressure their governments into voting against the arms embargo resolution, which was submitted to the Human Rights Council on Wednesday.

Pakistan proposed the draft resolution on behalf of 55 of the 56 UN member nations in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), except Albania, Bolivia, Cuba, and the Palestinian Mission in Geneva have all co-sponsored the document.

Germany’s move comes after information indicated that several European countries, including France, Belgium, and Spain, are planning to vote in favor of the resolution, while others may abstain from voting, which could potentially lead to the resolution being adopted by a comfortable majority.

It is worth noting that the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute’s (SIPRI) annual study issued in March revealed that sixty-nine percent of “Israel’s” arms acquisitions in 2023 came from US corporations, 30% came from Germany, and 0.9% from Italy.

More war crimes unmasked

Human Rights Watch declared that the Israeli airstrike on a six-story apartment building in central Gaza on October 31, 2023, amounts to a potential war crime. The attack resulted in the killing of at least 106 civilians, including 54 children, marking one of the deadliest incidents for civilians since October 7.

According to Human Rights Watch, there was no evidence of a military target near the building during the airstrike, rendering it indiscriminate and in violation of the laws of war.

Israeli authorities have not provided any justification for the attack. This incident underscores the significance of the International Criminal Court’s investigation into alleged war crimes committed by “Israel”, particularly given the Israeli military’s history of inadequately addressing such allegations.

Gerry Simpson, associate crisis and conflict director at Human Rights Watch, condemned the airstrike, emphasizing that it resulted in significant civilian casualties, including children playing football, individuals at the ground-floor grocery store, and forcibly displaced families seeking refuge.

“This strike inflicted massive civilian casualties without an apparent military target – one of scores of attacks causing overwhelming carnage, and highlighting the urgency of the ICC probe,” he stressed.

She added that the operation took place on “Street 90” in the Jordan Valley area, as Israeli settler vehicles were targeted.

Israeli media reported that at least 10 were injured in the shooting operation, adding that the IOF are conducting search operations in an attempt to find the executors of the operation.

In an interview with Israeli Channel 12, the head of the International and Middle East Arenas in the Institute for Policy and Strategy (IPS) at the Israeli Reichman University, Shay Har-Zvi, commented on this operation stressing that if “we combine” what happened in the Jordan Valley area today with what has been happening since this morning in the occupied north, it is a clear indication that the situation is “explosive” and that its deterioration is happening rapidly.

IOF kill one in Jenin amid large-scale West Bank confrontations

Palestinian youth Ayman Azouqa was killed early March 27 by Israeli occupation forces’ gunfire during confrontations that erupted in Jenin in the occupied West Bank following an Israeli military incursion into the city overnight on March 26.

Before succumbing to his wounds, Azouqa was transported by the Palestine Red Crescent Society crews from the al-Marah neighborhood while suffering from severe injuries due to bullet wounds in the chest and thigh.

According to Palestinian journalist Mohammad Hamdan, before medical crews rushed to the scene, the Israeli occupation forces had prevented anyone from coming close to Azouqa and left him bleeding.

Hamdan told Al Mayadeen that Palestinian Resistance fighters engaged in confrontations with Israeli snipers deployed in a neighborhood overlooking wide areas of Jenin and its camp, adding that Israli occupation forces carried out a widespread raid, during which they employed new tactics.

Gaza’s ‘shadow death toll’: Buried, missing, trapped under the rubble

23 Mar 2024

By Al Mayadeen English

Gaza’s death toll, currently surpassing 31,000 martyrs, excludes the thousands of missing people buried beneath the rubble.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the occupation committed 7 massacres in 24 hours, killing 72 and injuring 114. This brings the total number of Palestinians killed in the Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 7 to 32,142, in addition to 74,412 injuries.

It is noteworthy that numerous victims remain trapped under the rubble, presumed dead, as “Israel” prevents ambulance and civil defense crews from reaching them.

Gaza’s “shadow death toll” consists of Palestinians trapped beneath the rubble and missing persons since October 7. Last updated, the number stood at 7,000 people in November. Since then, experts estimate that thousands more have been added to the toll.

‘Not bodies, but ashes’

Testimonies reported by the New York Times paint a grim picture of what survivors of the occupation’s brutal attacks have to endure during the brief moments of silence when “Israel” does not drop its bombs on civilians, schools, residential buildings, and protective shelters.

The NYT reported incidents when men rushed to dig out their families from underneath the rubble when even bulldozers failed due to the amount of debris piled over.

In between airstrikes and raids, small groups of rescue teams head to large piles of rubble that have accumulated more and more debris over the past six months, to try to find any survivors. Most of the time, what is found are the bodies of the martyrs killed by “Israel” days, weeks, and months ago.

In November, Salem Qassem told the NYT that his family had been stuck under the rubble of their home in Beit Hanoun for forty days. He added that if the debris were to be lifted, he would only find their ashes.

This also comes as a result of “Israel’s” blockade on Gaza, which prohibited the entrance of heavy machinery that is typically used after an earthquake to lift the residues of rubble. This leaves Gaza with no way to lift all the destruction when many of its towns and neighborhoods have been pulverized

Ahmed Abu Shehab, a civil defense worker, said that only two excavators exist in Gaza. However, due to the magnitude of destruction, rescuers and civilians have been relying on shovels, drills, or their own hands.

He recalled an incident when a three-story building had been targeted and destroyed, and by the time the excavator was able to reach the ground level to pull out Palestinians who were inside it, they had all died.

IOF deliberately prevent rescue teams from mobilizing

The Ministry of Health in Gaza consistently reiterates that “Israel” prevents rescue teams and ambulances from reaching the locations of the occupation’s raids, leaving the martyred and the injured on the streets for days and more.

Since mid-November, calls coming from northern Gaza and Gaza City, where Israeli occupation forces are intensively stationed, have flooded the Palestinian Red Crescent Society to inform them of trapped, missing, injured, and killed Palestinians and ask for their assistance. However, Nebal Fesakh, a spokesperson for the PRCS, said there was nothing they could do because the IOF would not permit their mobilizations.

“Unfortunately, we just felt helpless because we were completely denied access to those areas,” she said. “Thousands of people are still stuck under the rubble, and now they’ve most probably died because it’s been so long.”

Moreover, PRCS announced two weeks ago that fourteen of its employees, whose current whereabouts are unknown, have been kidnapped and detained by the Israeli occupation forces in the Gaza Strip.

In a post on X, the PRCS noted that “The Israeli occupation continues to detain 14 PRCS members, whose whereabouts remain unknown. Their families and colleagues are deeply concerned for their safety, as there are reports of torture and humiliation based on testimonies from released colleagues.”

Al-Manar Exclusive: Maps Show Why Resistance in Gaza is Unbreakable

March 20, 2024

Exclusive – Featured – In depth – Top

Marwa Haidar

Maps prepared by Mohamamd Assaf

Nearly five months on the start of the Israeli ground offensive in Gaza, the Palestinian resistance, by its unwavering resolve, still stands as an impenetrable barrier, despite the relentless aggression and the horrific genocide.

Started on October 27, 2023, the ground offensive was declared with the stated goals of eliminating Hamas and releasing the captives taken by the resistance group during the heroic Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7th.

Despite attempts of advance throughout long weeks of ferocious fighting, the Israeli occupation army failed to secure its presence in numerous areas across the strip, and was forced to pull out several brigades from Gaza.

Al-Manar has prepared several maps that show the course of the battlefield since the start of the ground invasion. The maps provide a comprehensive visual representation of the battlefield’s dynamics and tactical maneuvers.

Maps Talk

On the evening of 27 October, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) launched a large-scale ground assault on the towns of Beit Hanoun and Bureij in the Gaza Strip. A day later, the occupation military said the deployed units were still on the ground, marking the beginning of the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip.

During the first month of the ground offensive, the Israeli incursions initially took place at two areas: Beit Hanoun in the north and in the area near Juhr Al-Deek in the strip’s center, south of the Gaza City (Map 1 gives more details). The occupation troops then expanded their presence from the north to the west, and then to the center.

By November 18, the occupation military ended up in cutting the Gaza Strip in to two halves, the north and the south, and in encircling the Gaza City.

Later in December, the IOF attempted to stage a new incursion in the south, near Al-Qarara city, north of Khan Younis (Map 2). In this stage, the Palestinian resistance was still capable to stage attacks against the occupation forces in the north.

Two weeks later (by December 19), the occupation forces tried to expand their presence in the north, the center and the south (Map3).  During this phase, heavy losses were inflicted upon the IOF who were met by fierce resistance.

By December 22, the Israeli occupation army pulled out several brigades from Gaza, including the Golani Brigade, after significant losses inflicted upon (Map 4 gives more details).

The resistance’s say was decisive later in January: The Israeli occupation can never control the northern area of the Gaza strip, it can only lay siege to the area and try to make another attempt in the south, in Al-Qarara and Khan Younis (Map 5 gives details).

During February, the Israeli occupation army tried to bolster its military presence in the north.

In March, and nearly five months on the start of the ground invasion, the Israeli occupation military withdrew from several areas in the Strip’s center and south. It ended up building a 1-kilometer deep path on the Gaza Strip’s border with the occupied territories in Gaza envelope (as shown in Map 6).

The Unbreakable Resistance

By March 19, the official Israeli death toll, announced by the occupation military since the start of the ground offensive, stood at 251, with estimations that the real figures have been far greater.

Fighting in an urban environment, the Israeli troops have been facing many challenging factors that shaped the outcome of the military engagements.

Of these challenging factors are the booby traps and shells. These local-made explosive devices have been used by the well-trained resistance fighters, frequently at point-blank range.

Furthermore, the complex tunnel system in the Gaza Strip is seen by the occupation army as a serious problem. Fighters can move between the buildings without actually going outside into the street, indicating that soldiers are susceptible to ambush.

On the other hand, the resistance fighters are seen as a formidable adversary to the occupation army as they are the native people of Palestine. They are familiar with the territory in Gaza and have been preparing for this for a long time.

Ultimately, the Israeli ambitions have crumbled against the resilience of the Palestinians, leaving their hopes of conquest dashed against the achievements secured by the unbreakable resistance.

Hezbollah bombing ‘Israel’ back to Stone Age: Israeli Media

March 16, 2024

Fields burn following a hit by a rocket fired from Lebanon near the northern settlement of “Kiryat Shmona”, Wednesday, August 4, 2021 (AP)

By Al Mayadeen English

Israeli media has mocked ‘Israel’s’ threats of bombing Lebanon back to the Stone Age, saying the reality is the opposite.

Israeli media is mocking previous statements made by Israeli officials against Hezbollah, threatening the Lebanese Resistance of bombing Lebanon back to the Stone Age.

In this context, Israeli newspaper Hadashot Bazaman reposted a video published by Hezbollah’s Stone Age, adding a voiceover of several Israeli officials, prominently Security Minister Yoav Gallant, threatening Hezbollah of returning Lebanon to the Stone Age. The video featured a bold title asking “Who is taking who to the Stone Age?”

Gallant, who once threatened to set back Lebanon to the Stone Age, found himself in a reversed situation, the head of the “Margaliot” council explained back in January.

The Israeli official, who heads the council responsible for a settlement located to the west of the settlement of “Kiryat Shmona”, shed light on the blackout experienced in the colonial outpost, following a rocket attack launched by Hezbollah on the Stone Age.

“Our settlements have ultimately been left without electricity, and we ended up being reverted to the Stone Age,” the Israeli official complained.

Northern Israeli settlers complain of Hezbollah rockets ‘nightmare’

Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth highlighted on Thursday the situation facing settlers in northern settlements, emphasizing that they are “drained and paying a heavy price due to the fighting with Hezbollah.”

According to the newspaper, the settlers in the north are “depressed” and are posing questions such as, “What do we do to end the nightmare of Hezbollah rockets?”

The newspaper cited an Israeli settler living in one of the al-Jalil settlements near the border with Lebanon as saying that “settlers there live among Hezbollah rockets,” describing the situation as “terrible”.

Yedioth Ahronoth mentioned that more than 60,000 Israelis in al-Jalil settlements have been displaced and evacuated to other settlements since the start of the fighting in October.

It added that since October, the “northern community” has collapsed, many businesses have been shut down, and displaced settlers have scattered to other settlements.

One settler told the newspaper that someone from the Israeli leadership must address the settlers’ problems, adding that Israeli the government has forgotten the settlers in the north “and has become accustomed to their living under war.”

The settler added that “a sense of helplessness” accompanies all al-Jalil settlers, who never imagined that this situation would continue for more than five months.

‘Israel’ deliberately kills Palestinians awaiting aid in Gaza, again

The Health Ministry in Gaza says more than 200 Palestinians were killed and injured as a result of the Israeli shelling.

Al Mayadeen‘s correspondent reported Thursday evening that several Palestinians were martyred and a large number were injured in an Israeli shelling that targeted people awaiting aid near Kuwait Roundabout southeast of Gaza City.

The Health Ministry in Gaza confirmed that more than 200 Palestinians were killed and injured as a result of the Israeli shelling.

The Ministry mentioned that 20 martyrs and 155 injuries had arrived at the al-Shifa Medical Complex, while one martyr and six injuries arrived at Kamal Adwan Hospital.

It pointed out that the process of retrieving the bodies of other martyrs and evacuating the wounded is ongoing despite the difficult field situation at the location of the massacre, anticipating an increase in the number of martyrs due to the severity of the injuries reaching Gaza hospitals.

The Ministry indicated that what happened at Kuwait Roundabout indicates a malicious intent by the Israeli occupation to commit a new horrifying massacre.

It also emphasized that the medical teams are unable to handle the volume and severity of injuries reaching hospitals in northern Gaza due to the weakness of medical resources.

On his part, the spokesperson for Civil Defense in Gaza, Mahmoud Basal, told Al Mayadeen that Israeli military helicopters opened fire on civilians before Israeli artillery finalized the massacre at Kuwait Roundabout.

He noted that Israeli artillery shelled civilians after they took shelter in buildings following the helicopter attack, adding that a large number of Palestinians were martyred and wounded and that the situation is catastrophic.

The spokesperson stressed that many are dying in hospitals due to their severe wounds and the medical teams’ inability to handle all injuries.

On early Thursday, Israeli occupation forces also opened fire on a gathering of Palestinians at Kuwait Roundabout, resulting in the martyrdom of seven people.

Palestinian factions condemn massacre

Related News

Various Palestinian factions condemned the new Israeli massacre at Kuwait Roundabout.

In a statement, Hamas said the crime adds to the series of massacres and vicious targeting of civilians facing Israeli starvation policies.

The movement stressed that the international community and the United Nations have failed to take action against the Israeli occupation army, which serves as a green light for committing more heinous crimes, within the framework of genocide and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people.

It pointed out that the Israeli crimes come with full support from the Biden administration, which protects the criminal entity from any international accountability.

Hamas held the Biden administration responsible for the continuation of the Nazi-like massacres committed with US weapons and support.

It called on the United Nations and the Arab League to urgently intervene to stop this genocide, to allow aid to enter through land crossings, and not to submit to the will of the Israeli occupation and its fascist policies.

On its part, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) condemned the Israeli massacre, deeming it “a genocide committed with US approval.”

The PFLP called on the Palestinian people, the Arab nation, and the free people of the world to turn Friday into a day of comprehensive escalation on the ground.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian al-Mujahideen Movement held the US administration, Western governments, and the Arab regimes responsible for the ongoing genocide committed by the Nazi-like Israeli occupation against the besieged and starving people in Gaza.

Al-Mujahideen Movement described the crime represents “a disgrace to every complicit, silent and negligent person,” noting that, by deliberately killing civilians after starving them, the Israeli occupation aims to turn Gaza into an inhabitable place.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported seven massacres in the past 24 hours alone.

According to the ministry, the Israeli massacres have resulted in the deaths of 69 Palestinian people and the injury of 110 others.

These numbers, however, fail to account for those who remain trapped under the rubble or on the streets as the Israeli occupation forces have forbidden ambulances and civil defense teams from reaching them.

Overall, the death toll from the Israeli occupation’s genocidal war has now risen to 31,341 martyrs, with 73,134 individuals injured since October 7.

Beit Lahm operation targets 2 IOF soldiers amid West Bank escalations

March 13, 2024

By Al Mayadeen English

Palestinians across the West Bank have escalated their confrontations with the Israeli occupation as the latter continues its genocidal policies in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, killing dozens daily.

Two Israeli occupation soldiers were injured as a result of a stabbing operation at the Tunnels Checkpoint west of Beit Lahm, leading to the occupied al-Quds.

Reports revealed the martyrdom of the Palestinian who conducted the operation to avenge the dozens of murders committed by the Israeli occupation across the West Bank since October 7.

Following the operation, Israeli occupation police blocked the road at the Tunnels Checkpoint, further restricting the movement of the Palestinian people living under occupation. The Israeli occupation police then mobilized additional forces, deploying their personnel around the checkpoint and on the roads leading to Beit Lahm and occupied al-Quds.

As seen in videos released by people held up at the checkpoint, the Israeli occupation police carried out inspections of vehicles belonging to Palestinian people and verified the identities of travelers.

Three Palestinians martyred by IOF gunfire in al-Quds

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported on Tuesday evening the martyrdom of three Palestinians and the injury of several others by Israeli occupation forces’ gunfire at the checkpoints of al-Jib and Shuafat Camp, northwest of the occupied city of al-Quds.

Related News

The Al-Quds governorate’s media confirmed that 12-year-old child Rami Hamdan Halhouli was killed as a result of a shot to the heart at the Shuafat Camp checkpoint.

Local media sources reported a heavy deployment of Israeli occupation forces at the checkpoint following Halhouli’s martyrdom.

In the same context, the Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed the martyrdom of 23-year-old Zaid Khalayfah and 16-year-old Abdullah Assaf, by Israeli occupation forces’ gunfire.

The Palestinian Red Crescent also reported injuries by IOF gunfire near the town of Bidu, northwest of occupied al-Quds.

In the vicinity of al-Aqsa Mosque, Israeli occupation forces erected tents near Bab al-Amoud in the occupied city of al-Quds and turned them into military barracks.

The occupation forces also set up iron barriers around Bab al-Asbat to restrict the movement of Palestinian citizens and prevent them from reaching al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Israeli occupation forces were also deployed at the entrances to the Old City and neighborhoods of occupied al-Quds, hindering the arrival of worshippers and preventing hundreds of Palestinian youths from accessing the al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Since the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the Israeli occupation forces imposed restrictions for the second consecutive day on the entry of Palestinian youths to al-Aqsa Mosque compound for the Isha and Taraweeh prayers, allowing men only over the age of 40 and women to enter, while obstructing their movement through checkpoints.

However, the Israeli restrictions did not prevent Palestinian worshippers from flocking through Bab al-Amoud to perform the Isha and Taraweeh prayers at al-Aqsa Mosque.

By Al Mayadeen English

During his State of the Union address, the US President calls on “Israel” not to turn humanitarian assistance into “a secondary consideration or a bargaining chip.”

US President Joe Biden announced Friday during his State of the Union address that he is directing his military to lead the mission that will establish a temporary pier that will bring humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

“Tonight, I’m directing the US military to lead an emergency mission to establish a temporary pier in the Mediterranean on the Gaza coast that can receive large ships carrying food, water, medicine, and temporary shelters,” he said during his speech.

“No US boots will be on the ground,” Biden claimed.

He added that the temporary pier would enable a massive increase in the amount of humanitarian assistance getting into Gaza, but stressed that “Israel” must play its part in the process for it to be successful.

Earlier, a senior Biden administration official said the temporary port will feature a pier that will “provide the capacity for hundreds of additional truckloads of assistance each day.”

According to the official, the shipments will be screened by the United States and partners in European Union member Cyprus.

Gazans are facing dire shortages of food, water, and medicine, with the United Nations warning of the risk of famine. The entire population of 2.2 million is in crisis or worse levels of food insecurity, according to the World Food Program.

Biden on Friday called on the Israeli occupation entity to “allow more aid into Gaza and ensure that humanitarian workers aren’t caught in the crossfire.”

“To the leadership of Israel I say this — Humanitarian assistance cannot be a secondary consideration or a bargaining chip. Protecting and saving innocent lives has to be a priority,” he said in his annual address.

The US President reiterated his claim that “Israel has a right to go after Hamas,” but mentioned that the Israeli forces also have “a fundamental responsibility to protect innocent civilians in Gaza.”

He added that the Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas could end the fighting by releasing the captives, “laying down arms, and surrendering those responsible for October 7.”

Related News

Biden addressed the families of captives held by the Resistance saying, “I pledge to all the families that we will not rest” until they are released.

He called the impact on Gaza “heartbreaking”, recalling that “this war has taken a greater toll on innocent civilians than all previous wars in Gaza combined.”

He also acknowledged that “more than 30,000 Palestinians have been killed. Most of whom are not Hamas. Thousands and thousands are innocent women and children.”

Biden claimed that his administration has been “working nonstop to establish an immediate ceasefire that would last for six weeks.”

According to the US President, the six-week truce would ensure the release of the captives held in Gaza, “ease the intolerable humanitarian crisis, and build toward something more enduring.”

He also reiterated his support for the creation of a Palestinian state, adding that “the only real solution is a two-state solution.”

“I say this as a lifelong supporter of Israel. My entire career, no one has a stronger record with Israel. I challenge any of you here,” Biden added.

Outside the US Capitol, where Biden delivered his speech, dozens of pro-Palestine protesters held a demonstration against the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.

Calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, the protesters blocked part of Pennsylvania Avenue and held a large Palestinian flag.

“Biden’s legacy is genocide,” one of the displayed banners read.

The demonstration coincided with a similar one outside the White House, where the crowd called on the Biden administration to end its support to the Israeli occupation entity.

The Washington Post reported Wednesday that the United States has clandestinely approved and executed more than 100 arms deals and foreign military sales to the Israeli regime since the onset of the war on Gaza in October 2023.

Day 152: ‘Israel’ Reluctant over Ceasefire Demands, Aid Deliveries to Northern Gaza

It seems that the Israeli occupation is still reluctant over demands presented by Hamas resistance movement regarding the ceasefire in Gaza, as the Tel Aviv Regime is still denying access of aid deliveries to northern Gaza amid catastrophic conditions in the besieged enclave on the day 152 of the aggression.

Hamas said on Wednesday it has shown the flexibility required to reach a truce that stops the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people but stressed that the Israeli occupation is evading demands for a ceasefire.

In a statement, the Palestinian resistance movement said these demands “include a permanent ceasefire, the return of the displaced Palestinians in Gaza to their homes, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip and the entry of humanitarian aid.”

“We will continue to negotiate through our brotherly mediators to reach an agreement that fulfils the demands and interests of our people,” Hamas said in a statement.

Strikes and Death Toll

Meanwhile, more casualties were reported as the Israeli occupation went ahead with bombing and artillery shelling in the central and southern Gaza Strip.

Several attacks were reported in Khan Younis, Deir Al-Balah, Nusseirat refugee camp and Rafah, Palestinian media reported.

Palestinian children suffering from malnutrition receive treatment at a healthcare centre in Rafah (March 5, 2024).

“The famine is deepening and will claim thousands of lives if the aggression is not halted and humanitarian and medical aid is not immediately brought in,” the ministry said in a statement.

It added that the Israeli occupation was “deliberately” starving thousands of hungry people in northern Gaza and called on the international community and the UN to halt the war and avoid a “health catastrophe”.

Aid Access Denied

On the other hand, the World Health Organization (WHO) chief has called for more aid to enter Gaza, amid reports of children dying from malnutrition in the besieged enclave.

“Children who survived bombardment but may not survive a famine,” Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on X. “Allow more aid for Gaza. Ceasefire.”

According to media reports, Palestinian Resistance ambushed IOF in Khan Younis, killing one soldier and injuring 12 others.

Earlier on Tuesday, the UN World Food Program (WFP) announced that efforts to deliver desperately needed food supplies to northern Gaza were largely unsuccessful.

“The emergency relief agency said that a 14-truck food convoy – the first by WFP since it paused deliveries to northern Gaza on 20 February – was turned back by the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) after a three-hour wait at the Wadi Gaza checkpoint,” WFP said, referring to Israeli occupation forces.

The newly released UNRWA report illustrates a graphic picture of the violence and sexual abuse subjected upon Palestinian detainees in Israeli detention centers.

A new internal report by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine (UNRWA) details the violence against Palestinian detainees in Israeli detention centers, such as beatings, dog attacks, extended use of stress positions, and sexual assault.

Based on interviews of over 1,000 Palestinian detainees released at the “Kerem Shalom” crossing point since December, in the presence of UNRWA staff, the report said that there were 29 children as young as six (26 boys and three girls), 80 women, and 21 UNRWA staff, some of whom had chronic conditions, such as Alzheimer’s or cancer.

“Detainees reported being taken on trucks to large makeshift ‘military barracks’ housing 100-120 people each, where they were held, often for weeks at a time, in between periods of interrogation at a nearby location,” the UNRWA document said.

“Methods of ill-treatment reported included physical beatings, forced stress positions for extended periods of time, threats of harm to detainees and their families, attacks by dogs, insults to personal dignity and humiliation such as being made to act like animals or getting urinated on, use of loud music and noises, deprivation of water, food, sleep and toilets, denial of the right to practice their religion (to pray) and prolonged use of tightly locked handcuffs causing open wounds and friction injuries.”

“The beatings included blunt force trauma to the head, shoulders, kidneys, neck, back and legs with metal bars and the butts of guns and boots, in some cases resulting in broken ribs, separated shoulders and lasting injuries,” the report added.

“While in an off-site location, several individuals reported being forced into cages and attacked by dogs, with some individuals including a child exhibiting dog bite wounds on release.”

Back to the ‘review drawer’

The report included allegations of widespread sexual assault, but rape was not mentioned, although it is a known fact of it being a tool of torture in Israeli prisons and despite a previous UN report stating otherwise. Women reported being groped while blindfolded, and many male prisoners said they were beaten in the genitals.

“Another detainee reported being made to sit on an electrical probe, causing burns to his anus, the scars for which could still be seen weeks later,” the UNRWA report said. “He indicated that another detainee had also suffered the same treatment and died as a result of his infected wounds.”

The Israeli occupation forces jumped to deny the report and its claims, in a statement provided to The Guardian

In the statement, the Israeli army denied “general and unsubstantiated claims regarding sexual abuse of detainees” in its detention facilities,” calling the accusations “another cynical attempt to create a false equivalency with the systematic use of rape as a weapon of war by Hamas.”

The statement denied any use of sleep deprivation and claimed that music was only played “at a low volume in a specific place where the detainees are waiting for questioning (in a place where guards are also present), in order to prevent the detainees from talking to each other while waiting for the questioning,” it argued.

The IOF continued to claim that the “concrete complaints” were “forwarded to the relevant authorities for review” – but it is quite known that the term “review” is just lip service.

On February 19, UN experts raised concern over “credible allegations” of grave human rights violations against Palestinian women and girls in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

According to the information, Palestinian women and girls were arbitrarily executed in Gaza along with their family members, even while fleeing, and, on at least one occasion, women detained were allegedly kept in a cage in the rain and cold, without food.

The experts expressed they were “particularly distressed” about reports of detained women and girls being subjected to numerous forms of sexual assault, like being stripped naked and searched by male Israeli army officers.

At least two female Palestinian detainees were raped, while others were reportedly threatened with rape and sexual abuse.

The experts expressed concern that an unknown number of Palestinian women and children, including girls, have reportedly gone missing after contact with the Israeli occupation in Gaza. “There are disturbing reports of at least one female infant forcibly transferred by the Israeli army into ‘Israel,’ and of children being separated from their parents, whose whereabouts remain unknown,” the experts said.

“We remind the Government of Israel of its obligation to uphold the right to life, safety, health, and dignity of Palestinian women and girls and to ensure that no one is subjected to violence, torture, ill-treatment or degrading treatment, including sexual violence,” they added.

IOF discredited by their own

This report coincides with the controversial New York Times report in January that claimed Israeli women were being raped and assaulted by the Palestinian Resistance.

The Israeli family involved in a key case mentioned in the October 7 New York Times report on alleged sexual violence by Hamas fighters has disavowed the published story, asserting that reporters manipulated their statements, Press TV reported, citing Israeli media.

Then, just yesterday, the allegations by the NYT were shut down by the spokesperson for the Kibbutz “Be’eri” identified as the location of the attack.

Two out of the three victims mentioned in NYT’s marquee exposé, which alleged that Hamas had deliberately weaponized sexual violence during the October 7 attacks, were not, in fact, victims of sexual assault, according to the Kibbutz’s spokesperson.

The rejection by spokesperson Michal Paikin undermines even more the NYT‘s credibility of its article: “‘Screams Without Words’: How Hamas Weaponized Sexual Violence on Oct. 7,” in which it described the recounts of three alleged victims of sexual assault for whom it gave specific biographical information.

Two of three women have been said to not be victims.
