Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Nasrallah saluted the Lebanese people on the anniversary of Resistance and Liberation in an interview to Al-Nour radio station.

His eminence assured that the spirit of the resistance fighters that led to these victories, which martyred resistance leader Hajj Imad Moughnieh spoke about saying “What fights in us is our spirit”, is still as strong and perseverant as before.

He assured that the resistance is developing on the military and armory levels but the essential tool in victory is the faithful, strong, authentic spirit of the resistance fighters and their families, despite all attempts to disfigure its identity.

Sayyed Nasrallah pointed out that the Israelis still remember the quote “weaker than the spider web” not because of the significance of its words but because of the significance of the timing and location it was stated in, which was the field of Bint Jbeil, adding that “in July war they tried to reach this spot to make a speech and say that Israel is stronger than steel, but they failed”.

His eminence noted that the strength point of Lebanon is the power of deterrence it had attained, and this is a strength because Lebanon was never the attacker, it was always being attacked.

Sayyed Nasrallah assured that the resistance saw the liberation of 2000 happening since 1983, and this was relevant in the speeches of Sayyed Abbas (Al-Moussawi) and Sheikh Ragheb Harb.

In this context, Hezbollah SG indicated that “when Ehud Barack was asked about the reason of invading Lebanon – I say this as 20 years have passed on victory because some people are still reading the developments wrong – he put two reasons. The first was to send the Palestinian resistance out of Lebanon to Jordan to topple the regime and establish an alternative state for the Palestinians there, and second was to bring the Jmayyel Family to presidency so that Lebanon becomes in the Israeli axis.”

Sayyed Nasrallah in the interview with journalist Buthaina Olleik.

“Israel does not have real allies, it only sees its benefits. It is ready to collaborate against anyone for the sake of achieving its benefits. Israel has collaborated against Jordan since 1982 and the alternative state project there is ongoing since then,” he added, pointing out that “the fall of the political project in Lebanon let them focus their strength on the security line.”

Sayyed Nasrallah continued that “the security line alone was not enough for the Israelis to reach their goal which was to protect the settlements, and this is what the resistance was working on.”

“Two years before withdrawing completely, the Israelis handed the security lines and locations to Lahad Army. It planned to withdraw towards the borders as the confrontations continue between the resistance and Lahad Army, hence, the battle becomes a civil one that takes a sectarian form. However, the resistance continued its operations against Lahad Army until the latter finally surrendered leading to the complete Israeli withdrawal from the region and successfully avoiding any civil war back then,” he added.

When asked about the resistance’s vision for Israel in 2035, his eminence assured that Israel will not last as it is a strange body that does not resemble this region, and remembered a quote by Sayyed Moussa Al-Sadr in which he said that Israel was not a Jewish or a religious state but an apartheid state that sees itself superior on everyone as its people are the sons of Israel. It was established on terror and murder.

In this context, his eminence stressed that Israel acknowledges that it is not the same invincible power that was before 2000, not just in Lebanon but also in Gaza. He further stressed that Israel is completely reliant on the US while we see the latter’s position in the region deteriorating due to the policies it is following.

“The Image of the Israelis packing their stuff and getting on planes and ships is in front of my eyes,” Sayyed Nasrallah said.

Responding to a question on the resistance audience, his eminence assured that “there was never national unity around the resistance in order to say that it once had a wide audience that it had lost. Even in year 2000, the internal situation was not better than today. Some people used to consider that the resistance was not national and it was related to Syria and Iran.”

On the US presence in the region, Hezbollah SG noted that it was an evidence on the development of the resistance axis as it reveals the inability of Israel and its supporting regimes to protect their benefits.

“All the developments in the region are not for the benefit of Israel and there is a high level of balance between the two parts… The resistance’s strength today in occupied Palestine is a strategic power in the resistance axis.”

As his eminence reiterated that the resistance’s point of strength is its deterrence power, he indicated that “Israel is aware that any attack on Lebanon will not pass without a response, adding that the latest Israeli attack on a car that had members of Hezbollah in it in the Syrian territories without causing casualties was not an Israeli error.

“Israel intended not to hurt the men in the car because it was aware that the equation today is that there will be a response on any assassination.”

In this context, his eminence warned that “the level of patience and tolerance of the Syrian leadership has a limit, and the enemy could make a stupid act that might cause the Syrian leadership to lose its patience and might lead to a war.”

In parallel, he assured that the Israelis intervened in Syria after they realized that the opposition groups they supported there were defeated.

Concerning the UNIFIL forces in Lebanon, Sayyed Nasrallah stated that “there is an Israeli demand backed by the US to the Global Community to increase the number of UNIFIL forces. For us, increasing or decreasing the number of forces does not matter… If there was a change in the tasks of the UNIFIL forces we might demand that the forces be relocated on the other side of the borders… The time in which Lebanon was perceived as the weak part is gone and Israel can no longer impose its conditions on it.”

Internally, Sayyed Nasrallah said that in a great speech
Sayyed Moussa Al-Sadr delivered once he said that the politicians in Lebanon were ready to drag the country toward a civil war in order to  preserve their position. He said Lebanese politicians are heartless and are ready to kill up to 10,000 people for this goal.

In this context, his eminence asserted that Hezbollah is very sensitive about a civil war due to its faith and commitment, not because it has a “phobia” from it as claimed. We don’t want a civil war and we refuse to take the government even if offered. We don’t want to control the country and as Imam Al-Sadr said “a revolution in Lebanon, if it wasn’t over-passing religions it will not get anywhere.”.

Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that any disagreement in Lebanon is diverted into a sectarian disagreement which reassures the importance of setting limits on any internal transformation so that the enemy does not take advantage of the situation.

He emphasized that the Lebanese Judiciary must be the reference in fighting corruption calling on everyone who has any corruption file against any Hezbollah political official to refer to the judiciary authority.

“I have said before that the battle against corruption is harder than the battle against Israel and it needs time. First we must remove the mines not step on them in order to open the roads.”

Sayyed Nasrallah indicated that when Ehud Barack was asked about methods to destroy Hezbollah, he considered that dragging Hezbollah into a civil war and making people and its supporting environment revolt against it would destroy it.

“Thus, this is a sensitive issue as the resistance is on the top of the enemy’s list of targets, and any new given must be studied very well.”

On the economic level, Sayyed Nasrallah considered that “we can get out of this economic crisis but it needs a political decision,” adding that “if Hezbollah revealed its economic plan it will be fought immediately on both internal and external levels”.

As he emphasized the importance of cooperating with the Syrians on the industrial and agricultural levels, he noted that some parts refuse this fearing that this would damage the relations with the US.

“America wants to humiliate Lebanon and impose its conditions on it.”

In this context, Sayyed Nasrallah addressed the Lebanese people saying: “The solution for the economic crisis is to abandon US satisfaction and head east”.

“Some parts are obstructing deals with China due to their fears from the US… China can solve the electricity problem with less cost than Germany, but this needs a political decision. If the current government was a Hezbollah government it would’ve referred to Chine. This is the biggest evidence that this is an independent government that is considering the views of all the parties.”

Concerning the Banking crisis, his eminence said “we demanded protecting all the savings. It is our duty to shout out but it is the government and official sides’ duty to take action. Hezbollah has no interest in changing the banking system or any other system in Lebanon.”

On Hezbollah’s relation with its allies, Sayyed Nasrallah stated that “we are solving problems between our allies and solving our problems with our allies by shutting them down… Our allies and us are not one body, we are two bodies so it is normal to have different views but we don’t allow this to break any alignment.”

His eminence considered that social media is playing a negative role by creating problems that do not exist, and assured that “we have to co-live with social media and must turn its threat into an opportunity through guidance and addressing.”

On the regional level, Sayyed Nasrallah assured that the US withdrawal from the region will be on all political, cultural, and military levels.

He considered that the US is on its way to pack and leave the region due to several reasons including the public desire in Iraq, their withdrawal from Afghanistan, their identification as “occupation forces” in Syria, the failed war on Yemen, the unsuccessful “deal of the century” which was signed by only one part of the agreement, and the developments in general.

Sayyed Nasrallah ruled out any war between the US and Iran or between Israel and Lebanon “unless the latter decided to make a stupid act”, he said. He finally noted that Israel might cease to exist if the circumstances that it emerged on changed.

From The Memory of The People: Flowers, Dancing and a Defeated “Israeli” Occupation Army

By Nour Rida

Lebanon – Many are the photos and videos that rerun the joy and emotions of people returning to their homes and villages in Lebanon, after long years of “Israeli” occupation to their land.

25 May, celebrated as a national holiday and considered as one of the most important days in Lebanon’s modern history is dubbed Resistance and Liberation Day. After two decades, people recall the day when they tasted the sweetness of returning back to their homes, lands and villages and reunited with their loved ones, and the day when the detainees saw the sun again after long years of torture and imprisonment in “Israeli” prisons set up inside the Lebanese territory; like the infamous Khiam prison.

Fatima, 65 years old, told al-Ahed news that she was on a vacation in Lebanon. She had been living abroad all her life, driven out of Lebanon due to the civil war and then the “Israeli” occupation of Lebanon.

“I remember that day so well. As soon as we heard the news, that the ‘Israeli’ army was withdrawing, we poured down to the streets in Beirut to celebrate, and to find out more about what was happening. I had not been to the South of Lebanon for many years because of the occupation. So we instantly rode our car and moved towards the South with the other thousands of cars to go back home. People were throwing rice and flowers, giving out sweets and candy, it was sort of a wedding or parade and you just could see the smiles and tears of joy everywhere.”

Mariam, 73 year old housewife who comes originally from Jizzine, a village in South Lebanon with a Christian majority, told al-Ahed news that on that day, rumors were spreading like fire at the beginning that the Hezbollah, or Lebanese resistance movement was killing people all across the South of Lebanon and that no one should even think of going to the South at the moment.

“My husband said this was definitely rubbish, he had been friends with many of the resistance fighters and he said he knew well that was not the case. We are Christians, but we lived a long life of friendship and love with our Muslim neighbors, who cared for us more than our own family members sometimes. Soon we joined the cars moving towards the South on that day, only to find out what my husband was saying: these are rumors of hatred and bigotry by ‘Israel’ and their allies inside Lebanon.”

On that day, many marched back to their homes and villages on foot. It was like waves of human beings were flocking back to their land of which they were deprived by the “Israeli” occupation.

“My aunt shows in one of the videos on that day,” Amal said.

Amal was a kid at the time, but she knows the stories by heart. She has been listening to these stories for 20 years now, and today she turns 30. She was born on this same day only 10 years before the “Israeli” so-called invincible army withdrew from Lebanon.

“Many took to the streets, dancing, chanting, embracing each other and tossing rice and flowers in the air in celebration. I was a kid but I still vaguely remember how we were standing at the doorsteps of our house and people were celebrating; my aunt shows in one of the videos dancing and throwing flowers right in front of our house.”

Sara, for her part, was the daughter of an agent who worked for the “Israeli” occupation in its Lahed Army, or what was known as the SLA [South Lebanon Army]. It was an army in which Lebanese people were hired to help the “Israeli” occupation, and hence it was an army of national traitors. Sara wanted to speak anonymously; it still bothers her that her father was a traitor and an agent who worked for the “Israeli” occupation.

“I cannot hide from the past, and I cannot forget that he is my father. We were so scared when the ‘Israelis’ fled and people said we will be killed and humiliated by Hezbollah, but until this day none of the Hezbollah people did us wrong. The only one humiliated was my father, when he fled to the Galilee camp and later told us how badly they were treated until he managed to leave to Canada after a few weeks of ill treatment and lack of any basic needs or respect,” Sara described.

She went on to say “He later came to Lebanon and was jailed for three years because of cooperating with the ‘Israeli’ occupation army.”

The 2000 liberation of Lebanon was a turning point in the history of Lebanon and the region, from which people and societies can draw lessons and inspiration. Western media attempts across the years are crystal clear, trying to misrepresent history or hide the told and untold stories. But facts cannot be concealed. The stories of the people, the marching of the people on foot all the way to the South, the videos and the photos and audio-visual history, the tears of joy and longing, the blood of the martyrs and the some 150 Khiam Lebanese detainees whose scars still speak of “Israeli” torture cannot be buried.

It was the resistance fighters and the people who hand in hand liberated their land. As Timor Goksel, former spokesman and senior advisor to UNIFIL had said once on the popular move: “Back in 2000, it was the march of the people before the Liberation which amazed me the most…The starting point was in the village of Kantara towards the village of Taybe. Hundreds of children, women, and men marched towards freedom.”

In 1979, Goksel was assigned as Press Information Officer/Spokesman to UNIFIL at South Lebanon’s Nakoura and later became a Senior Adviser of UNIFIL in 1995.

Goksel said that historically, “Israel” never left a country without something in return, but this only time was a withdrawal for nothing in return; that’s why this time it was a success.

Hence, what speaks stronger than all these memories is the fact that the once unbeatable “Israeli” army faces a deterrence power in the region imposed by the Lebanese resistance. And so, 2000 was not only a memory in the minds and hearts of the people with stories told and some others untold. May 25 2000 is a day when the political, military and strategic equations in the Lebanon, the region and the entire world changed.

ISRAEL STRIKES SYRIA TO KEEP THE USA IN THE LEVANT. 20 YEARS AFTER THE UNCONDITIONAL ISRAELI WITHDRAWAL FROM LEBANON, WHAT HAS BEEN ACHIEVED? (2)

Following its defeat in the second war on Lebanon, Israel discovered that its only way to suppress Hezbollah would be to close the supply line between Lebanon and Syria. That could only be achieved by removing President Bashar al-Assad from power, disrupting the “Axis of the Resistance” that extends from Tehran to Baghdad, Damascus, Beirut and Gaza. But Israel and the US, supported by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the Emirates, Turkey, Europe and many other countries all failed to achieve their goal of making Syria a failed state. President Assad called upon his allies whose own national security was in jeopardy. If Syria were to fall, jihadists of al-Qaeda and the “Islamic State” would be fighting in the streets of Beirut, Baghdad and Tehran. The jihadists would also be powerful enough to remove Russia from its Syrian naval base and to export the war beyond the Levant’s borders. So, Israel and the US failed to destroy Syria and to corner Hezbollah. On the contrary, Hezbollah has become stronger than ever. The Resistance has reaped the harvest of its victory. It has become the decision-maker with key institutions in Lebanon.

Israel sought to destroy Hezbollah because it is an obstacle to Israel’s expansionist plans in Lebanon, namely to steal Lebanon’s water and some of its territories, to force a peace deal of unconditional surrender, to break Lebanon’s alliance with Iran and deprive Tehran of its strongest ally in the Middle East. For the last forty years, since the victory of the “Islamic Republic” in 1979 led by Imam Ruhollah Khomeini which unseated the US proxy ruler, the Shah of Iran, Washington has imposed sanctions, because Iran has refused to submit to US power and because it supports its allies in the Middle East, mainly Palestine, Lebanon and Syria, to stand against Israel.

In 2006, the US was involved in the planning of Israel’s war on Lebanon. At the 2006 G8 Summit, President George W. Bush described the relationship between Hezbollah, Iran and Syria as one of the root causes of “instability”: “The World must deal with Hezbollah, with Syria, and continue to work to isolate Iran.” (Roshandel J. & Lean C.N. (2011) Iran, Israel and the United States, ABC-CLIO, CA, p. 109).

US Secretary Condoleezza Rice refused to mediate a ceasefire unless “the conditions are conducive”, thinking Israel would win the war. Hezbollah was not only left on its own to face the US and Israel, but Lebanese US-Saudi proxies (Prime Minister Fouad Siniora and Druse leader Walid Jumblat) supported the position of the US and Israel, and argued that there was “no point in a ceasefire.” (Wilkins H. (2013). The Making Of Lebanese Foreign Policy: understanding the 2006 Hezbollah-Israeli War, Routledge, Introduction).

When Israel failed to achieve its objectives, the US agreed to mediate an end to the war. Negotiations concentrated on ceasing all hostilities (not a ceasefire) between the two countries. Tel Aviv and Washington failed to obtain the deployment of United Nations Forces in Lebanon, UNIFIL, on the borders with Syria. The US sought to accommodate Israel in its attempt to gain by negotiation what it failed to achieve using its huge war machine in 33 days of the war in 2006. “Israel’s objective was never realistic”, said Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.

When its attempt to control the Lebanese-Syrian borders failed after its defeat in the 2006 war, Israel had one remaining option with which to counter Hezbollah: close the road via Damascus and find a way to curb Hezbollah’s supply line. This required war on Syria.

Since confronting Hezbollah face-face was no longer an option, Syria became the next target in the campaign to isolate Iran, as President Bush declared. The motives behind the war in Syria have been erroneously described by many researchers and analysts around the globe, who have depicted the war as the outcome of an “Arab Spring” against a dictatorial regime. Yet Saudi Arabia, Bahrein and other Gulf countries have been ruled by dictatorships and the same family members for decades and indeed are considered by the west as its closest- oil-rich- partners!

Actually, the war on Syria started just after the al-Qaeda 9/11 attack on the US. Four-star US general Wesley Clark disclosed Washington’s plan as he learned of it in the days after 9/11: “occupy Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and finish with Iran.” Just a few months after the US invasion of Iraq, US Secretary of State Colin Powell visited President Bashar al-Assad and warned him that the US would invade Syria if he refused to interrupt his support for the anti-Israel organisations, Hezbollah and the Palestinian groups: the Syrian president would share the same fate as the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

The 2003 invasion of Iraq was far from being a piece of cake. The US occupation generated new resistance among both Sunni and the Shia. This encouraged President Assad to rebuff the US threat, unaware of what the future held for Syria. Dozens of states, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Turkey, the Emirates, Europe and the US all supported a regime change operation via Takfiri proxies. But the consequences of destabilising Syria gave a unique opportunity for al-Qaeda to blossom in Syria and a more lethal group emerged, the “Islamic State” ISIS. President Assad called upon his few allies, Iran, Russia and Hezbollah, to stand against the massive coalition gathered to create this failed state in Syria. The Syrian war which ensued offered unprecedented experience to the Syrian army, gave birth to a new Syrian resistance and offered unique warfare knowledge to Hezbollah, with a base for Iran that Tehran could never before have dreamed of having in the Levant.

Hezbollah had forced unconditional Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon in the year 2000 and challenged all those Israeli-US plans for a “new Middle East” after the second Israeli war on Lebanon in 2006. And the long nine years of war in Syria Hezbollah forced Hezbollah to refine its tactics and armaments and provided Hezbollah with an unprecedented victory. Just as Israel had boosted the creation of Hezbollah, it taught this quasi-state actor all manner of skills and forced it to acquire more training and weapons to repel wars and dismantle the enemy’s objectives. Israel’s former Chief of Staff and Prime Ministerial candidate Benny Gantz believed that Hezbollah had become one of the strongest irregular-organised armies in the Middle East, capable of imposing its rules of engagement and its “balance of deterrence” on the strongest classical army in the Middle East.

“Show me four or five states with more firepower than Hezbollah: they are the US, China, Russia, Israel, France, & the UK,” Gantz said when speaking at the 2014 Herzliya Conference.

That was Israel’s assessment in 2014. Six years later, last February, Israel’s minister of defence Naftali Bennet said: “For every convoy you hit, you miss five convoys and slowly Hezbollah accumulates the critical mass of rockets [missiles] that threaten us.”

Hezbollah has become stronger than many armies in the Middle East. Hezbollah is no longer the organisation that clashes with the Israelis on a hill or site or ambushes a patrol behind an alley. Rather, in Syria and Iraq, it has successfully experienced different warfare scenarios. It has acquired many advanced weapons and became a strategic threat to Israel if it ever contemplated waging outright war on Lebanon and Syria.

Israel set as its goal bringing down Assad in Syria and separating Syria from the “Axis of Resistance.” Israeli defence minister Moshe Ya’alon said that “Israel prefers ISIS on its borders over Assad.” But Israel, America, Europe, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the Emirates have lost the war. Israel has now chosen to maintain the conflict because it fears that America would let go. This is why Israel is hitting hundreds of targets in Syria, -most of the time without no strategic value whatsoever.

Sources in the “Axis of Resistance” in Syria say that “Israel targeted the Iranian HQ at Damascus airport (a building with green glass where Israel destroyed two floors). The following day, Iran restored it and it is back in operation.  Israel has repeatedly targeted warehouses with Iranian weapons but also an abandoned training centre in the Kiswa area that has been empty for years. Their aim is to signal to the US that Israel is threatened and that the departure of the US forces would constitute a threat to Israel’s national security. It is indeed too late for Israeli jets to make any difference to Syria’s capabilities. Iran is not exporting weapons but manufacturing them. If it took Israel 9 years and 300 bombing raids to destroy Iranian warehouses in Syria, it took Iran only one year to refill and equip the Syrian army with much more sophisticated precision missiles- and all strategic missiles are in underground warehouses.”

Iran has only a few hundred advisers and officers in Syria, but it leads some tens of thousands of allies from Lebanon, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and auxiliary Syrian forces that resemble irregular-organised military formations.

In Syria, Hezbollah was able to operate in an area ten times the size of Lebanon, which gave it a unique experience any army in the world would have wished to have. It was also subjected to attacks by a NATO member, Turkey, which used armed drones on the battlefield. That provided Hezbollah with a wealth of experience and taught them lessons that have become integrated into curricula at military schools and colleges in Iran with Hezbollah and their allies.

President Assad does not say that it is time for his allies (especially Hezbollah) to leave Syria. Rather, he says – according to this source – that “Syria has a debt to Hezbollah. Wherever Hezbollah wants to be, it will be also Syria’s wishes.” America and Israel created an unbreakable alliance between Syria, Iran and Hezbollah.

In Lebanon, Hezbollah has started to harvest its gains. Hezbollah was able to impose the name of the President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, despite repeated opposition from Saudi Arabia and the US, the losers in the Syrian war. Lebanon remained without a president for several months until General Aoun assumed the presidency.

Hezbollah rejected multiple offers from different countries by giving the Presidency of the Parliament to anyone other than President Nabih Berri, leader of the Amal movement, who has been on this throne for decades. Hezbollah holds the real power – though not all of it – in Lebanon to call for the appointment of the President of the Republic and the Speaker of the Parliament.

As for the premiership, it cannot be assumed without Hezbollah’s approval of the candidate. Hezbollah has sufficient political weight within the House of Representatives and the Presidency of the Republic to nominate or accept the nomination or direct the appointing of a prime minister. Former prime minister Saad Hariri is making sure his daily friendly contacts with Hezbollah are maintained because he would very much like to return to power. Hariri knows that the door to the premiership goes through one gate: Hezbollah.

This does not mean that Hezbollah wants to take control of Lebanon as a whole. Hezbollah leaders are aware that the Druse leader Kamal Jumblatt, Sunni leader Rafic Hariri, the Maronite Christian leader Bashir Gemayel and the Palestinians have all failed in controlling Lebanon and seizing the country. Hezbollah does not want to succumb to the same mistakes and doesn’t wish to control all of Lebanon. This means that the counter influence of other countries exists and is well-rooted in Lebanon. For example, the US ambassador in Beirut is threatening the Lebanese government with a warning not to remove the Central Bank Governor Riad Salama. Also, the US removed a Lebanese-Israeli agent, Amer Al-Fakhouri, via a plane which landed him at the US embassy without taking into consideration Lebanese sovereignty. The US supports the Lebanese army and internal security forces to maintain its dominance over certain key figures.

Syria has given the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, powers in Lebanon that he would not have obtained without the intervention of Israel and the allies in Syria. Hezbollah has managed to preserve its military pipeline via Syria by defeating the Takfiris (al-Qaeda and ISIS) and has prevented them from establishing an “Islamic emirate” in Lebanon and Syria.

Hezbollah’s victory comes at a price: thousands of martyrs and thousands of wounded. However, the resulting harvest is so abundant and strategic that the Lebanese Shiites now enjoy more power in Lebanon and Bilad al-Sham than they have since the year 661 when the fourth caliphate’s Imam Ali bin Abi Talib was killed.

Sayyed Safiyeddine: “Israeli”, American Aggressors Only Understand the Language of Force

Sayyed Safiyeddine: “Israeli”, American Aggressors Only Understand the Language of Force

By Fatima Deeb Hamzah

Lebanon – On the twentieth anniversary of the glory of May otherwise known as the liberation of southern Lebanon from “Israeli” occupation, Al-Ahed interviewed the head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council, His Eminence Sayyed Hashem Safiyeddine. He spoke about the future, the prospects of conflict with the enemy, and the next stage.

“Twenty years after the victory in 2000, we must always remember that had it not been for the sacrifices of the martyrs, the mujahideen, the detainees, the resistance as well as the supporters of the resistance, we would not have obtained this pride and dignity,” said Sayyed Safiyeddine. “Today we are in dire need of more faith and trust in God, adherence to our religious and cultural identity and resistance, and remaining on this path because what awaits us is even greater.”

Promising a new victory, Sayyed Safiyeddine tells Al-Ahed that “the victory of May 2000 is a great historic achievement.”

“From my faith in God Almighty and trust in Him, I believe that greater victories than the May 2000 await our resistance if we remain on this path. And the message of May 2000 is persistence on this resisting approach. Everything that the enemy does, even if it appears to be large and influential, will all disappear. All rights will be restored, God willing.”

Sayyed Safiyeddine summarizes the experiences amassed by the resistance since the 2006 aggression.

“Since the 2006 war, the resistance grew in strength, experience, understanding, and awareness of the nature of the battle and confrontation with the ‘Israeli’ enemy. We benefited from many of the strengths we attained. In 2006, we established that ‘Israel’ was indeed weaker than a spider’s web. The capabilities that are being prepared to confront the enemy in any future war that we are definitely not seeking, must be more focused and hit the targets that hurt the enemy. We have become more aware of the enemy’s vulnerabilities.”

Sayyed Safiyeddine believes that “during the past years, it has been proven that ‘Israel’s’ home front is ill-prepared.”

“Our readiness is based on faith, spirituality, and the individual’s strength in Hezbollah. Today, we are giving special attention to the fighter in various dimensions. Hence, the emergence of the Radwan force, which haunts the ‘Israeli’ army with sinister nightmares. What ‘Israel’ said is accurate: ‘Radwan forces will enter northern occupied Palestine.’”

Touching on the human asset, he said that “people are dependable, and we now depend on the ability of the Palestinian people, our popular resistance as well as the people in our Arab and Islamic world whose word will one day unite and eliminate this usurping Zionist entity.”

His Eminence speaks confidently about achieving the desired objective – liberating al-Quds.

“We live with a real hope of achieving a realistic goal, according to our view, which is the liberation of al-Quds. And we believe that the successive blows that the ‘Israeli’ enemy is being dealt will one day exhaust it and make it unable to face this tidal resistance. Sayyed Safiyeddine said. “This framework consists of two directions: one is resisting the enemy and the other is the enemy recognizing its weakness, day after day. We will reach a point where the ‘Israelis’ will feel powerless. On the other hand, the people will advance their resistance work, and today they are in tens, or even hundreds of thousands regionally. These hundreds of thousands ready to resist coupled with the accumulation of achievements as well as the deteriorating structure of the Zionist entity in addition to other elements will one day lead us to the inevitable liberation al-Quds. This is something we never doubt.”

Great victories are made by great leaders, and so were the liberation of 2000 and the victory 2006.

“Major General Hajj Qassem Soleimani and the commander Hajj Imad Mughniyeh were the architects of the victories in 2000 and 2006. The support the resistance received from the Quds Forces, led by Hajj Qassem Soleimani, contributed extensively to the liberation. In 2000, Hajj Imad was on the battlefield and a de facto leader as well as the leader of the Islamic Resistance’s operations. Through his follow-up with all the Mujahideen brothers, leaders, martyrs, and everyone who worked under Hajj Imad at the operational level, the 2000 victory was achieved.”

“We cannot look at the historic victory in 2000 with all its blessings without remembering these two great martyred leaders,” Sayyed Safiyeddine stresses.

Speaking of the possibilities of both military and economic war against the axis of resistance, His Eminence tells us, “The ‘Israeli’ enemy always uses the military tool as well as the political, economic, and media tools through American support. ‘Israel’ alone is not able to encircl the resistance and the axis of resistance financially and economically. This is an American act that serves ‘Israel’ and the American and imperial interests in this region. Today, we cannot say that the ‘Israelis’ are no longer a military threat. The threat still exists. But the ‘Israelis’ have slim hopes of launching a military aggression against the resistance in Lebanon. This is because they feel that they are unable to resolve the battle.”

As for the economic embargo imposed by the United States on the axis of resistance, Sayyed Safiyeddine says it is the result of “Israel’s” “sense of helplessness in the face of this axis that is growing and becoming stronger than ever before and recording great achievements in terms of capabilities and readiness.”

He stresses that the “sanctions imposed by the Americans on the resistance and the axis of resistance may be the last weapon they use to confront it as they have exhausted all options.”

“Since its inception, the resistance’s options, logic, path, methods, and objectives have been fixed. These are constants. It is contrary to what some believe – that time can make us retreat, tire, or reconsider our position. The more we advance in the resistance work and confronting the ‘Israeli’ enemy, the more convinced we are that our positions must be firmer,” the head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council adds.

“The ‘Israelis’ and the Americans only understand the language of strength and force, and when you are strong and capable you can confront this enemy, achieve your goals, and regain your rights. Today, we are more confident about our readiness in the area of armed resistance,” Sayyed Hashem concludes.

The Humiliation of ’Israel’ in the Eyes of Imad Mughniyeh

The Humiliation of ’Israel’ in the Eyes of Imad Mughniyeh

By Latifa Al-Husseiny

Beirut – You never run out of stories about the time of liberation. It is like a spring of fresh water on a high mountain pouring on the ground. Twenty full years of Imad Mughniyeh and his comrades in jihad. There was planning, implementation, and then achieving an Arab victory that was only difficult in the dictionary of the weak.

It is May 18, 2000. The beginning of the “Israeli” withdrawal from southern Lebanon begins to unfold. The resistance and its mujahideen are prepared and aware of what is going on. Its military leadership and its cadres are meeting in a village.

The goal is to continuously assess the situation to develop hypothetical scenarios in the event of any major retreat by the enemy. Hajj Imad is heading the meeting. He, along with his cohorts of resistance officers, are providing estimates while examining hypotheticals and sny potential plans the Zionists might adopt. Before those in attendance, he repeats one chorus: the “Israeli” enemy must leave humiliated and under fire.

For this purpose, numerous meetings with the command of military operations and mobilization forces were held. Various sources of fire including the artillery and launchers were stationed in the south. Reconnaissance of the enemy’s movements and soldiers was carried out a week before the liberation of the south, especially in light of the evacuations that were taking place along some of the posts. All this was overseen by Hajj Imad personally.

The enemy’s retreat rolled on. Qantara, Al-Qoussair, Deir Siriane, and Tayibe were liberated from the occupation under the strikes of the Mujahideen, while the locals headed to the occupied gate and removed it.

The resistance leadership drew up alternative plans on how to pounce the Lahad army at the time. It also deployed military police to the southern border villages to prevent any disturbances during the “Israeli” escape.

Indeed, some Lahad forces surrendered in Adaisseh, while others fled under fire from the resistance. Bint Jbeil and the towns in that district were liberated. The liberation rumbled from Tayibe to Hula to Beit Yahoun until the miniature security belt drawn up by the then “Israeli” War Minister Ehud Barak to protect the northern settlements collapsed.

A leader in the Islamic Resistance tells al-Ahed about those days.

“We stayed in the south, watching closely how the “Israelis” fled. Hajj Imad managed the military missions and distributed tasks. When the operations began, he was at the helm of those checking the situation. He went to the Palestinian border without escort.”

On May 23 and May 24, “Israeli” soldiers continued their withdrawal. From Ainatha to Kfar Tibnit to the Khiam detention center, the Zionists withdrew defeated. Hajj Imad was waiting, while the resistance men spread around and targeted them.

On the final day of throwing out the occupiers, the battle ended at the Fatima Gate at the border. Through it, the last “Israeli” soldier fled. That moment was historic.

While Benny Gantz, the commander of the so-called Lebanon Liaison Unit in the “Israeli” army, closed the gate and put the key under one of the rocks, Hajj Imad was a few meters away looking at how the “Israelis” were humiliated.

He stood in front of the Fatima Gate, while the resistance apparatus deployed and secured all the villages. Inhaling the breath of freedom and the fragrance of Palestine, he did not care about the people who had been trailing him for years. Those people were fleeing broken, looking for a refuge to hide their failures and surrender. On the other hand, Hajj Imad was defying everything to take a look at the Galilee and beyond. He had accomplished the first step of the inevitable liberation.

Six years after the 2000 liberation of the south, the July War came. Hajj Imad led 33 days of confrontations with the enemy. He thwarted the Zionists’ promise. It was another divine victory on the road to Palestine. Angered by the defeat, “Israel” decided to take revenge. For this purpose, it utilized its tools and agents. The meeting was in Syria.

Away from the commotion of the world, a group of leaders of the resistance axis gathered in one of the party’s centers in the Kafr Souseh area in Damascus.

On the evening of February 12, 2008, a group of leaders of the Revolutionary Guards headed by the commander of the Quds Force, Hajj Qassem Soleimani, met leaders of the Islamic Resistance, headed by Hajj Imad Mughniyeh.

It was a military summit that lasted for about an hour. One of the leaders who attended the meeting explained that the main reason for the meeting was to conduct an evaluation of the general situation at the level of the resistance factions. However, the special relationship between Hajj Imad and Hajj Qassem set the tone of the meeting.

There was laughter and smiles as if they felt that this would be a farewell. Hajj Qassem told our interlocutor, “What Hajj Imad says, I implement. I am a soldier of Hajj Imad Mughniyeh.” When the latter heard that sentence, he quickly said, “No, we are brothers.”

The evaluation session was over, and it was time to depart. Hajj Qassem Soleimani stood at the elevator and embraced Hajj Imad with great affection. That moment was engraved in the memory of the people present. It was proof that the relationship between the two men surpassed the cause. It was a relationship of spirit and sacrifice similar to the relationship between al-Hussayn and al-Abbas (PBUT). They shared redemption, responsibility, and a high jihadist spirit.

Five minutes later, Hajj Imad left to carry out an important mission. When he got to his car, he was martyred.

Hajj Qassem never knew Hajj Imad’s destination. He heard a loud explosion and was informed of the news. He went back to find his companion dead.

What was the nature of the meeting they agreed on minutes earlier? It was a painful separation. However, 12 years later that conclusion was repeated with Hajj Qassem’s spirit rising to the supreme kingdom. Both men’s blood was spilt on the road to Palestine for the sake of Al-Quds.

20 YEARS AFTER THE UNCONDITIONAL ISRAELI WITHDRAWAL FROM LEBANON: WHAT HAS BEEN ACHIEVED? (1)

We were Hezbollah trainers. It is an organisation that learns quickly. The Hezbollah we met at the beginning (1982) is different from the one we left behind in 2000”. This is what the former Chief of Staff and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabi Ashkenazi, said twenty years after the Israeli unconditional withdrawal from Lebanon.

For the first time we met a non-conventional army, but also an ideological organisation with deep faith: and this faith triumphed over us. We were more powerful, more technologically advanced and better armed but not possessing the fighting spirit …They were stronger than us”. This is what Brigadier General Effi Eitam, Commander of the 91st Division in counter-guerrilla operation in south Lebanon said.

Alon Ben-David, senior defence correspondent for Israel’s Channel 13, specialised in defence and military issues, said: “Hezbollah stood up and defeated the powerful Israeli Army”.

Former Prime Minister Ehud Barak, the architect of the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, said: “The withdrawal didn’t go as planned. The deterrence of Hezbollah and its capability increased greatly. We withdrew from a nightmare”. Barak meant he had planned to leave behind him a buffer zone under the control of his Israeli proxies led by the “South Lebanon Army” (SLA) commander Antoine Lahad. However, his plans were dismantled and the resistance forced Lahad’s men to run towards the borders, freeing the occupied buffer zone. As they left Lebanon, the Israeli soldiers said: “Thank God we are leaving: no one in Israel wants to return”.

Israeli soldiers are happy to leave Lebanon in the year 2000.

In 1982, Israel believed the time had come to invade Lebanon and force it to sign a peace agreement after eliminating the various Palestinian organisations. These groups had deviated from the Palestinian compass and had become embroiled in sectarian conflict with the Lebanese Phalange, believing that “the road to Jerusalem passed through Jounieh” (the Maronite stronghold on Mt. Lebanon, northwest of Beirut, a slogan used by Abu Iyad). Israel intended Lebanon to become the domicile of its Palestinian conflict. It failed to realise that in so doing it was letting the Shiite genie out of the bottle. Signs of this genie began to appear after the arrival of Sayyed Musa al-Sadr in Lebanon and the return of students of Sayyed Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr from Najaf to their home country and residency in the Lebanese Bekaa. Also, the victory of Imam Khomeini and the “Islamic revolution” in Iran in 1979 was not taken into consideration by Israel, and the potential consequences for the Lebanese Shia were overlooked.

The 1982 Israeli invasion triggered the emergence of the “Islamic resistance in Lebanon”, which later became known as “Hezbollah”, and it forced Israel to leave Lebanon unconditionally in 2000. This made Lebanon the first country to humiliate the Israeli army. Following their victory over the Arabs in 1949, 1956, 1967 and 1973, Israeli officials had come to believe they could occupy any Arab country “with a brass band”.

Israeli soldiers exited through the “Fatima Gate” (on the Lebanese border, also known as Good Fence, HaGader HaTova) under the watchful eyes of Suzanne Goldenberg on the other side of the border. She wrote: “After two decades and the loss of more than 1000 men, the chaotic Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon leaves its northern flank dangerously exposed, with Hezbollah guerrillas sitting directly on its border. The scale of the Israeli fiasco was beginning to unfold… After the Israelis pulled out of Bint Jubayl in the middle of the night, their SLA allies, already in a state of collapse in the centre of the strip, simply gave up. Branded collaborators, they and their families headed for exile. Behind them, they left tanks and other heavy equipment donated by their patrons. Shlomo Hayun, an Israeli farmer who lives on Shaar Yeshuv farm, said of the withdrawal, “This was the first time I have been ashamed to be Israeli. It was chaotic and disorganised.”

What did Israel and its allies in the Middle East achieve?

In 1978, Israel occupied a part of southern Lebanon and in 1982, for the first time, it occupied an Arab capital, Beirut. During its presence as an occupation force, Israel was responsible for several massacres amounting to war crimes. In 1992, Israel thought that it could strike a death blow to Hezbollah by assassinating its leader, Sayyed Abbas Al-Mousawi. He was replaced by his student, the charismatic leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. Nasrallah has proved to be more truthful than the Israeli leaders, and thus capable of affecting the Israeli public through his speeches, as Israeli colonel Ronen, chief Intelligence officer for the Central Command of Israel Defence Forces, has said.

The new Hezbollah leader showed his potential for standing up to and confronting Israel through TV appearances. He mastered the psychological aspects of warfare, just as he mastered the art of guerrilla war. He leads a non-conventional but organised army of militants “stronger than several armies in the Middle East,” according to Lieutenant General Gadi Eisenkot, the former Israeli Chief of Staff.

The Israeli doctrine relies on the principle of pre-emptively striking what is considered as a potential threat, in order to extinguish it in its cradle. Israel first annexed Jerusalem by declaring it in 1980 an integral part of the so-called “capital of the state of Israel”. In June 1981, it attacked and destroyed the Iraqi nuclear reactor that France had helped build. In 2007, Israel struck a building in Deir Ezzor, Syria, before it was completed, claiming that the government had been building a nuclear reactor.

6 years after its withdrawal, Israel declared war on Lebanon in 2006, with the aim of eradicating Hezbollah from the south and destroying its military capacity. Avi Kober, a member of the department of political studies at Bar Ilan University and researcher at the Israeli BESA centre said: “The war was conducted under unprecedented and favourable conditions the like which Israel has never enjoyed – internal consensus, broad international support (including tacit support on the part of moderate Arab States), and a sense of having almost unlimited time to achieve the war objectives. The IDF’s performance during this war was unsatisfactory, reflecting flawed military conceptions and poor professionalism and generalship. Not only the IDF fail in achieving battlefield decision against Hezbollah, that is, denying the enemy’s ability to carry on the fight, despite some tactical achievements, throughout the war, it played into Hizballah’s hands.”

“Soon we shall pray in Jerusalem” (Portray Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah).

Israel withdrew from the battle without achieving its goals: it was surprised by Hezbollah’s military equipment and fighting capabilities. Hezbollah had managed to hide its advanced weapons from the eyes of Israeli intelligence and its allies, who are present in every country including Lebanon. The result was 121 Israeli soldiers killed, 2,000 wounded, and the pride of the Israeli army and industry destroyed in the Merkava Cemetery in southern Lebanon where the Israeli advance into Wadi al-Hujeir was thwarted.

Hezbollah hit the most advanced class Israeli destroyer, the INS Spear saar-5, opposite the Lebanese coast. In the last 72 hours of the war, Israel fired 2.7 million bomblets, or cluster bombs, to cause long-term pain for Lebanon’s population, either through impeding their return or disrupting cultivation and harvest once they did return. “An unjustified degree of vindictiveness and an effort to punish the population as a whole”, said the report of the UN commission of inquiry conducted in November 2006 (Arkin M. W. (2007), Divining Victory: Airpower in the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah War, Air University Press, Alabama, pp 67-71).

The battle ended, Israel withdrew again, closed the doors behind its army, raised a fence on the Lebanese borders, and installed electronic devices and cameras to prevent any possible Hezbollah crossing into Palestine.

When Israel’s chief of staff Gabi Ashkenazi said “Israel instructed Hezbollah in the art of war”, he was right. Hezbollah has learned from the wars that Israel has waged over the years. In every war, Hezbollah saw the necessity of developing its weapons and training to match and overcome the Israeli army (which is outnumbered) and which enjoys the tacit support of Middle Eastern regimes and the most powerful western countries. Hezbollah developed its special forces’ training and armed itself with precision missiles to impose new rules of engagement, posing a real threat to the continuity of the permanent Israeli violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty.

Today, Hezbollah has sophisticated weapons, including the armed drones that it used in Syria in its war against the Takfirists, and precision missiles that can reach every region, city and airport in Israel. It has anti-ship missiles to neutralize the Israeli navy in any future attack or war on Lebanon and to hit any harbour or oil platform. It is also equipped with missiles that prevent helicopters from being involved in any future battle. The balance of deterrence has been achieved. Hezbollah can take Israel back to the Stone Age just as easily as Israel envisages returning Lebanon to the Stone Age.

Hezbollah is Israel’s worse nightmare, and it was largely created by the Israeli attempt to overthrow the regime in Lebanon, occupy Lebanon, and impose an agreement that Israel could then mould to its own liking. But the tables were turned: a very small force emerged in Lebanon to become a regional power whose powerful support was then extended to the neighbouring countries of Syria and Iraq. The harvest journey has begun.

Sayyed Nasrallah: Palestine from River to Sea Belongs to Palestinians, Our Real Battle is with the US

By Zeinab Essa

Beirut – Hezbollah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered on Friday a televised speech in which he tackled Al-Quds International Day.

According to Sayyed Nasrallah, “We meet today to commemorate an essential event announced by the late Imam Khomeini after the triumph of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.”

“25 May victory formed a great victory and a gate towards the liberation of Al-Quds,” he said, emphasizing and recalling “a set basis that have to do with International Al-Quds Day.”

He further went on to say that he “will talk about the things that have changed from last year to today.”

“Palestine from the sea to the river belongs to the Palestinian people and they must return to it. We in Lebanon have grown up with this position since ancient times,” His Eminence mentioned, reiterating that “Palestine belongs to the Palestinian people, and it must return to the Palestinian people.”

In addition, the Resistance Leader confirmed that ““Israel” is an illegal, usurped and occupying entity.”

“Those settlers who came to occupied Palestine should return to their countries. Our stance on Palestine is religious and ethical, not only humanitarian. Thus, it can’t be changed,” he stated.

Sayyed Nasrallah went on to say: “We never said that we wanted to throw anyone into the sea. Those who flocked to Palestine must leave. Whoever bets that through military wars, sanctions, starvation, or misleading, that he can change our position is wrong and must change his mind.”

His Eminence underlined that “The responsibility of regaining Palestine is mainly that of the Palestinian people but it also the responsibility of the nation as Al-Mighty God will ask us about it on The Judgement Day.”

“What is happening today in the region isn’t limited to youthful enthusiasm. It is an ideological and intellectual aspect that is inherited from one generation to another,” he confirmed, noting that “The truth does not change with time, and what had been taken by theft does not become a legitimate property with time, even if the whole world recognized the legitimacy of the thief.”

In addition Sayyed Nasrallah highlighted that “Liberation cannot be achieved in one, two or three years. It could take generations. The lengthy battle should not be a reason for despair because it will end with victory.”

On the same level, Hezbollah Secretary General declared that “The real battle was and still is with successive American governments, and “Israel” is the main front.”

“The current generation must not surrender or legitimize the “Israeli” occupation,” he said, wondering “In Lebanon and Palestine, who supports “Israel” with arms, technology, information, and financially? It’s the USA that is providing such great support.”

According to His Eminence, “The US is waging wars to establish and protect “Israel”. The US has made providing services to “Israel” as a gateway to get closer to it. Our real battle is to confront the US.”

“Identifying the real enemy is an essential necessity to assess achievements and to read opportunities and strategic environment,” he mentioned, noting that “Through the ‘Deal of the Century’ scheme, “Israel” is moving towards full control and total annexation of all occupied Arab lands in Palestine, Lebanon and Syria.”

Sayyed Nasrallah also emphasized that “There are Arab and Islamic regimes that are not concerned with the confrontation with the “Israeli” entity. The real enemy that we’re fighting is the US, although we are not shooting at each other.”

“There are Arab countries that support the American-“Israeli” axis and sometimes provide great services to it. There are Arab countries that help and support “Israel”. They even deal sharply and negatively with the Palestinian people,” he added.

In addition, His Eminence underscored that “In the American-“Israeli” view, Iran is the center and the most targeted country in the axis of the resistance. When Trump withdrew from the nuclear agreement and returned to imposing sanctions on Iran, he was betting on an angry popular reaction in the Iranian internal front.”

“The “Israelis” betted a lot on the American withdrawal from the nuclear agreement and tightening the sanctions on Iran. Today, all the readings conclude that this bet has failed,” the Resistance Leader stressed.

In parallel, he said: “Among all failed “Israeli” bets is betting on a US war on Iran.”

Sayyed Nasrallah further unveiled that ““Israel” has wagered on terrorist groups to confront Iran, but it also failed. “Israel” has betted even on Covid-19, but Iran will exit from this test stronger. The Islamic Republic has triumphed in the coronavirus test. The WHO has admitted that the health system in Iran is among the strongest in the world.”

Moving to Iraq, His Eminence mentioned that “What is happening in Iraq is a very big shift in favor of the axis of resistance. Preserving Iraq and its power comes in contradiction with the Zionist scheme, and “Israel” was one of the strongest inciters against Iraq.”

According to His Eminence, Sayyed Nasrallah went on to say: “It is the responsibility of the Iraqi brothers and sisters to set their country in its place in confronting the “Israeli” enemy.”

Regarding the Syrian front, Sayyed Nasrallah believed that “What happened in Syria is a major victory for the axis of resistance, given the fact that goals that the “Israelis” and Americans set in it have been failed. Syria thwarted the global war that was launched against it and brought down the American-“Israeli” scheme seeking to topple the Syrian state”

On Yemen, the Resistance Leader confirmed that “The war in Yemen is an American and “Israeli” one. The failure of the war on Yemen has had a major impact on the ‘deal of the century’. “Israel” supports the war on Yemen and is assisting it with technology.”

“Had Muhammad Bin Salman achieved the victory in Yemen, he would have turned his victory to impose the ‘deal of the century’ on the Palestinians,” he emphasized.

Moving to the Lebanese arena, Sayyed Nasrallah viewed that “Over the past year, we find that the “Israelis” have been betting more on internal developments in Lebanon than on their strength in the face of the resistance.”

““Israel” is cautious and worried about Lebanon and it fears going to war,” he said, pointing out that ““Israel” admits that it has failed to prevent the resistance force from growing in Lebanon.”

His Eminence declared that “Even the mutual deterrence is a victory for Lebanon,” warning that ““Israel” is now betting on the economic situation in Lebanon in order to turn the environment of resistance against it through sanctions. The “Israelis” are still betting on sanctions against Lebanon.”

According to him, “The American conditions do not end, whether with regard to the resistance’s arms or with regard to the demarcation of the maritime borders with the “Israeli” enemy’s entity.”

He also cautioned that “The countries that have surrendered are now suffering from hunger, and we can, through our capabilities and reason, not die of hunger and preserve our sovereignty.”

However, His Eminence assured that “We in Lebanon are strong, we are not between two options, and we are able, through our capabilities, to overcome the crisis.”

On the Palestinian developments, Sayyed Nasrallah highlighted that ““Israel” has wagered on inciting the people of Gaza on the resistance so that it would prevent the expansion of its capabilities, but it failed to do so. “Israel” is taking advantage of Trump’s remaining time in the White House because this constitutes a historic opportunity for it. “Israel” is benefiting from Trump’s presence so it’s stepping up its steps to get rid of the two-state solution and to move towards the establishment of a Jewish state.”

Meanwhile, the Resistance Leader condemned some Arab governments’ move towards the normalization with the Zionist entity.

In this context, he called “The Arab and Islamic peoples to prevent the move towards normalization with all their power. The normalization is a failure. It is a humiliating and forbidden path that must stop.”

On another level, Sayyed Nasrallah announced that “The martyrdom of the great leader Qassem Soleimani was a blow and a loss to the axis of the Resistance. However, his blood will firmly support the axis of the resistance.”

However, he predicted that “The horizon before us calls for optimism, and what is required today is to enhance and expand each corner in the axis of the resistance.”

“Options for direct military wars by the Zionists and the Americans may be excluded. However, their priorities are sanctions,” His Eminence warned, recalling that “The rules of engagement established by the legendary steadfastness in the July War with the “Israeli” entity are still in place.”

In addition, Sayyed Nasrallah advised “Israel” not to bet that Hezbollah might be preoccupied with domestic situations. “We are going to a new international and regional scene, and new threats may arise. Experts are saying that the US has lost its leadership position in the world, and the coronavirus pandemic is an example.”

“Today where are Netanyahu, Trump and Mohammed bin Salman,” he questioned, pointing out that “Each of them has his own dilemma and this axis can be defeated.”

Reiterating the call to the Lebanese to be strict in fighting Coronavirus people, His Eminence urged all people in Lebanon to show further commitment and responsibility in the face of coronavirus.

“The high number of infections in Corona threatens the health system in Lebanon,” Sayyed Nasrallah cautioned.

Even If ‘Israel’ Polished the Prison Walls, It Won’t Polish Its Bloody History

Even If ‘Israel’ Polished the Prison Walls, It Won’t Polish Its Bloody History

By Zeinab Daher

South Lebanon – Before the liberation of Lebanon from the ‘Israeli’ enemy on May 25, 2000, one of the ‘Israeli’-run facilities, used to detain any member suspected of carrying out a resistance activity, was totally inhabitable.

The Khiam Detention Center, based on top of the southern Lebanese town of Khiam, which borders occupied Palestine, didn’t feature any aspect that makes it fit for the human survival. In addition to being located in an open and high altitude area, not a single detail in it made it fit for detaining humans inside it.

Inside cells that could barely fit for two, every five detainees spent years of their lives. Not a single light, not even a toilet… detainees adapted with such harsh circumstances.

Some solitary cells were flooded with rainwater in winter, and being as hot as hell in summer, and it was all fine for the prison’s administration.

One day, out of the blue, conditions turned upside down. The detainees were astonished…

In the early 1995, ‘Israelis’ started improving the place. They emptied prisons gradually and made radical changes inside. When every group of prisoners returned to their cell, they didn’t find it. Every four or five cells were merged together in a one big hall. Beds were added, and toilets were set inside. Hot water became also available, even lights appeared finally in the dark rooms.

Detainees didn’t understand the sudden transformation although they concluded that something is in the making. Days later, they learned that the International Committee for Red Cross [ICRC] will enter the place.

It was hence understood that the ‘Israeli’ was taking all precautionary measures to show the ICRC that the place is suitable and comfortable for the prisoners, so that when it reflects the image to the outer world it doesn’t harm the ‘Israeli’ one.

In that year, the ICRC representatives started entering the Khiam Detention Center and holding meetings with the detainees who, in fact, told them that everything they can see at the time are innovated, and things were in total mess before.

The representatives, however, wanted to stay on the safe side. They told the prisoners that they are concerned with what happens in the present and that they don’t want to tackle what happened before.

However, despite the apparent enhancement, the policies to torture and starve detainees continued. Although detainees were allowed to receive letters from their relatives, those letters have long been censored by the jailers who chose to cancel any part of it they don’t like. Methods of torture were always the same. The most brutal and painful was the electric pole upon which detainees were hanged upside down, and sometimes they hang them from one leg only. Detainees used to remain two to three days hanged in the whatsoever whether happens to be at time of their turn. They were deprived of food and water… with their heads covered in bags, but their entire bodies kept naked.

A lot of detainees were martyred on this electric pole in particular…

The Red Cross was not capable of holding the prison’s administration into account or even sue it. The administration, they say, is not a state, but rather a militia tied to the ‘Israeli’.

This might not seem weird regarding the practices of an enemy like the ‘Israeli’ one. ‘Israel’ has long sought polishing its blood-stained image, the blood of detainees, many of whom were martyred, while the rest have carried with them outside the bars, many chronic respiratory and dermal diseases.

‘Israel’, the murderous living thing on this planet, would be able to polish the walls of the prison. It would be able to wipe away the once-seen dirt and darkness, but would never be able to polish the blood on its hands, nor be able to change its history.

‘Israel’ is a master at performance. There is no doubt. ‘Israel’, however, wouldn’t master directing the scene. The enemy might be able to begin whatever it wants, yet the stable equation is that this enemy itself will remain dependent on the might of resistance, which, since more than a couple of decades, is deciding what it wants to end, the way it, only, wants.

Shamkhani’s Message Marking Lebanon’s “May Glory” via Al-Ahed: Iran Steadfast in Supporting the Resistance Front

Shamkhani’s Message Marking Lebanon’s “May Glory” via Al-Ahed: Iran Steadfast in Supporting the Resistance Front

By Mokhtar Haddad – Al-Ahed News Website

Tehran – On the twentieth anniversary of South Lebanon’s liberation from the Zionist entity’s profanity, which marks the twenty years on the Resistance and Liberation Day, Advisor to Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, and the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani addressed, in a special message via al-Ahed News website, the Lebanese government, people and resistance with the following text:

In the Name of Allah the Beneficent the Merciful

{Indeed, the party of Allah – they will be the predominant} – Holy Quran, al-Ma’idah 56

I congratulate the people, government and Islamic Resistance in Lebanon on the Resistance Day and the anniversary of South Lebanon’s liberation from the profanity of the Zionist occupation thanks to the efforts of the resistance men.

This occasion, which coincided with the anniversary of the major conquests during the Sacred Defense era in which the city of Khorramshahr was liberated, has revealed that the power of belief and faith is the upper power that is capable of burying the arrogant satanic conspiracies.

Today, the Lebanese Islamic Resistance’s capabilities have emerged while achieving a balance of powers against the Zionist entity in the region. It was crystal-clear after the liberation of South Lebanon in 2000, expelling the Zionists during the 2006 33-day war, as well as in confronting the Zio-Takfiri plots, that the resistance’s might is growing bigger every day.

There is no minimum doubt that Hezbollah is the strongest defender of security in Lebanon, and the shield that is confronting the Zionist entity’s greed in this country. Hezbollah’s support of the resistance front at the frontlines has expelled the ghost of ‘Takfiri-Hebrew-American’ terrorism from the region and the world.

It is self-evident that without such sacrifices, the terrorist virus of “Daesh” [the Arabic acronym for ‘ISIS/ISIL’] and the Takfiri salafi movement has reached Europe and turned the green continent into ruins, just like the case in Aleppo, Palmyra, Mosul and Fallujah.

On this thorny humanitarian path, we mustn’t forget the role of the noble and great leaders such as Lieutenant General Martyr Hajj Qassem Soleimani, Martyr Hajj Imad Mughinyeh, Martyr Hajj Mustafa Badreddin (Sayyed Zolfiqar) in leading the resistance front. Those have spent their lives in raising the importance of the name of resistance, as well as guaranteeing the security of the peoples in the region and the world, in addition to cutting the hand of the proxy killers who are tools of the Western civilization.

Indeed, the Islamic Republic and the Iranian people will remain steadfast in supporting the resistance front and the Palestinian cause. We won’t submit to the pressures of the terrorist American regime, the first supporter of the child killer Zionist entity.

Deputy Head of Hezbollah Executive Council Tells Al-Ahed the Untold Stories of Lebanon Liberation on 20th Anniversary

Deputy Head of Hezbollah Executive Council Tells Al-Ahed the Untold Stories of Lebanon Liberation on 20th Anniversary

By Al-Ahed News Website

The resistance from Taklif until the glory of May

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the glory of May – the Resistance and Liberation Day, Al-Ahd journeys back to the early days of the resistance and how Imam Khomeini (may God sanctify his secret) was the first to embrace it.

The deputy head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council Hajj Abdallah Kassir, a key witness from that period, recalls some of his expreeinces.

In 1982, Hajj Abdallah Kassir was with a group of al-Shabab al-Mu’min [Believing Youth]on a visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran to attend the Shaaban 15 Conference – The Day of the Vulnerable. The visit coincided with the “Israeli” invasion of Lebanon.

“At the time, the Imam sent a delegate to us after failing to secure an urgent appointment since we had decided to return to Lebanon after the invasion,” Hajj Kassir said.

He then quotes what the delegate conveyed to them from Imam Khomeini, “Your taklif [religious obligation] is to fight ‘Israel’, and ‘Israel’ fell into the trap as a mouse falls into a trap. You will definitely be victorious, and you must fight it with the capabilities available to you.”

According to Kassir, it was a religious position. “Therefore, everything that was built after our return – we returned to Beirut the day after the battle of Khaldeh – was built by the al-Shabab al-Mu’min based on this fatwa and Imam’s directions regarding the issue of fighting ‘Israel’.”

This impulse and sincerity – and thanks to the blood of the martyrs as well as the blessing of the leadership of Imam Khomeini and Imam Khamenei after him – led to the glory of May and the victories during that month.

Those victories were distinctive historical events in the Arab-“Israeli” conflict because the “Israelis” were forced to withdraw unconditionally for the first time. The May victory was called the clean victory since the enemy withdrew under fire from the resistance without any pledges or agreements.

The glory of May in Taybeh: One of God’s days

The second part of our overview of the history of the resistance with the deputy head Hezbollah’s Executive Council Hajj Abdallah Kassir, focuses on the liberation of Lebanon’s southern town of Taybeh. Hajj Kassir participated in that liberation and left his mark.

In May 2000, Kassir was a deputy for the south. He received a call from the resistance leadership telling him to head to the south.

“I arrived in Taybeh. In the town square, there was a popular celebration. Young men from the resistance asked us to wait until they cleaned the area. We went up with the men and women to Kamel Al-Assad’s old house, which was a headquarters for the Lahad forces. That house was overlooking the entire area. There we met a lot of our brothers that we knew, but we were separated by barriers that the occupiers had set up,” he said.

According to Hajj Kassir, the joy was “indescribable”.

“It was the happiness of a lifetime and one of God’s days … because it was a day of victory where people felt that the blood of the martyrs bore and yielded this beautiful, kind, and clean victory. No one can deny that this victory was the fruit of the Mujahideen’s jihad for 18 years – from 1982 until 2000.”

Hajj Kassir concludes by praising the role of the people who paved the way to liberation.

“We have people worthy of these sacrifices because they are the ones who supported and embraced the resistance. Therefore, this jihad and support for the resistance is what produced the glory of May.”

The untold story about Hajj Imad in his role in the media and arts

When speaking about liberation, the memory of the person who had a hand in it automatically comes to mind – the great jihadi leader Hajj Imad Mughniyeh whose spirit hovered over all the victories of the resistance.

The deputy head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council Hajj Abdallah Kassir has memories with Hajj Imad that must be written down.

“Hajj Imad was not only a military or security leader, he was also a strategic leader, meaning he looked at matters concerning the media, culture, spirituality, psychology and propaganda from a military and security point of view,” Hajj Kassir said. “Hajj Imad came up with the idea to employ media production in coordination with the military. He directly funded some artistic works that we, as a media department, did not have enough of a budget for.”

Hajj Kassir recalls the song “Your Victory Shook the World” during the July 2006 war. It was one of the artistic productions that had Hajj Imad’s fingerprints.

“The idea of the clip as well as the idea of Arab artists participating in and shooting it using a drone all came from Hajj Imad.”

In another clip, Hajj Imad gathered 40 launchers in the Bayt Lif valley. The move was forbidden within the rules of the military establishment.

“But Hajj did it because his priority was to portray a terrifying scene to the enemy and send it a message,” according to Hajj Kassir.

One of the first security documentaries produced was also the brainchild of Hajj Imad. He supported and funded it.

“Hajj Imad was the one who was following up with the directors, and he also produced the movie ‘Al-Mersad’ which documents the war between the resistance and the ‘Israelis’,” Kassir says.

Hajj Kassir goes back to 1984-1985 during the days of the Technical Committee for the Islamic Media.

“The first artistic work and the first camera that filmed the resistance at the time, was supported by Hajj Imad. He sponsored the volunteers in this committee and created the conditions for them to work. In some very special events, he asked for their presence,” Hajj Kassir adds.
