“Israel” Continues Targeting Resistance Leaders: Al-Aqsa Commander, 2 Others Martyred in Nablus

Three Palestinians, including a senior armed resistance commander, have been martyred by “Israeli” occupation forces during a raid on the occupied West Bank city of Nablus.

The “Israeli” army surrounded a building in the Old City at 5am local time on Tuesday, where Ibrahim al-Nabulsi – the commander of al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, had barricaded himself in. A gunfight lasted for several hours.

Al-Nabulsi, 30, was martyred along with 32-year-old Islam Sabbouh and Hussein Jamal Taha, the health ministry said, adding at least 40 others were wounded. Four were in critical condition.

According to media reports, Al-Nabulsi had “refused to surrender, and was defended by other armed Palestinians” before he was killed.

Al-Nabulsi, known popularly as “the lion of Nablus”, had been on the run for many months, and survived several assassinations attempts by the Zionist entity. His public appearances at the funerals of his fellow comrades, such as in February and July, had further raised the ire of “Israeli” occupation.

Hundreds of Palestinians shared Al-Nabulsi’s will, which he recorded in an audio message hours earlier.

“Take care of the homeland,” he said. “I am surrounded now but I will fight until I become a martyr. I love my mother. Don’t abandon the gun.”

A quick note about the latest aggression against Gaza

9 Aug 2022
Amro Allan

On 27 Dec. 2008, the Zionist occupation forces began an aggression against Gaza that lasted for three weeks. The aggression resulted in thousands of civilians killed and injured, tens of thousands displaced, and large destruction in Gaza’s civilian infrastructure.
the Zionist entity announced that the objective of that aggression was to annihilate Hamas, the Palestinian resistance group that was a fraction of what it is now in terms of its strength.
At the end of the three week long operation, the occupation clamed victory, and the occupation forces, the settlers, along with their supporters started congratulating themselves on their (so called) victory.
However, 13 years later, in 2021, the Palestinian resistance, specially Hamas, was bombarding the occupation with long range missiles, reaching pretty much all the occupied Palestinian land.
Now few days ago, the occupation forces began another aggression against Gaza. This time though, they said they were going to annihilate Islamic Jihad, another Palestinian resistance group that is comparable to what was Hamas back in 2009 in terms of size and strength.
But, this aggression lasted 3 days and not 3 weeks. One of the reasons for this was that the Zionist entity feared the sequences if Hamas entered the battle field with Islamic Jihad. This is the same Hamas that the occupation claimed to have defeated in 2009, you remember?
Anyway, again The occupation claimed victory at the end of their three day long operation. And again, the occupation forces, the settlers, and their supporters are congratulating themselves on what they think is a victory, only that Islamic Jihad hasn’t disappeared!
The occupation tried, during the past few days, to do with Islamic Jihad what it tried to do with Hamas thirteen years ago. But most likely, from past experience, the growth trajectory of Islamic Jihad will be like Hamas’s. And in few years, the occupation will have to face two Hamas size resistance groups in Gaza rather than only one!
the Zionists occupied Palestine 74 years ago, and they have been trying to defeat the Palestinians since. But those pesky Palestinians proofed to be a lot more tougher than what the Zionist colonisers have imagined. And it is clear that the Palestinians are determined to liberate their homeland from its occupiers. So, I would suggest to the Zionists to stop their aggression against Palestinians, give back what they have stolen from them, and go back to their homes. Then, and only then, everyone can live in peace.

Palestinians march in solidarity with Gaza

Palestinians all over occupied Palestine reaffirm their solidarity with the Gaza Strip by taking to the streets and protesting the Israeli aggression.

Palestinians protesting in solidarity with Gaza in Ramallah, occupied Palestine

Palestinians all over occupied Palestine took to the streets on Sunday for the third day in a row to protest against the Israeli occupation’s brutality and “Tel Aviv’s” aggression on the Gaza Strip, as well as to show solidarity with the Palestinian resistance.

Dozens of Palestinians went on protests and solidarity stands in Ramallah, occupied Palestine, which was called for by various movements and organizations.

The protestors held up the photos of the Palestinians who were martyred by the Israeli occupation’s aggression on Gaza following three days of continuous air raids conducted on the Strip.

The demonstrations also championed the cause of the Palestinian prisoners held in the Israeli occupation’s prisons, namely Khalil Awawdeh, who has been on hunger strike for 158 days, calling for his freedom alongside the many prisoners arbitrarily held by the Israeli occupation.

Further protests were called for by various youth organizations in the occupied Palestinian territories in Taybeh, I’billin, and Arrab.

The Israeli occupation launched an aggression on the Gaza Strip on Friday, and Al-Quds Brigades announced that Tayseer Al-Jaabari, a military commander in the northern Gaza Strip, had been martyred.

Our correspondent reported that the death toll of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip has reached 31 martyrs and more than 220 wounded since Friday afternoon.

The latest tally, however, shows that 41 Palestinians have been martyred so far, with 311 others wounded.

Palestinian sources told Al Mayadeen earlier today that the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) movement is refusing any mediation efforts made by any parties until they take revenge for the aggression and the assassinations carried out by the Israeli occupation.

PIJ Spokesperson Tariq Salmi confirmed Sunday that the Resistance’s missiles are only a small part of the price that the Israeli occupation will pay over its crimes and the assassination of commander Taiseer Al-Jaabari.

Late last night, Al Mayadeen‘s correspondent reported that the Israeli occupation committed a horrifying crime in the Jabalya refugee camp, located in the northern Gaza Strip.

Five people were martyred, including three children, and many others have been wounded. Netizens have said that the Israeli occupation’s raids on the area have martyred nine people so far.

The Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement (PIJ), announced Sunday the bombing of large areas of “Tel Aviv,” the central settlements, and the Gaza envelope using salvoes of rockets, as part of its initial response to the assassination of one of its officials, Khaled Mansour.

The brigades said in a statement, “As a preliminary response to the crime of assassinating the great leader Khaled Mansour and his martyred brothers, we bombed large areas of Tel Aviv, the central cities, and the Gaza envelope.”

The statement added, “As part of Operation Unity of Battlefields, Al-Quds Brigades launched massive missile strikes against Tel Aviv, Palmachim base, Ashdod, Beer Al Sabe, Askalan, Netivot, Mefalsim, Mivtachim, and all the usurped areas of the Gaza envelope.”

In this context, Al Mayadeen‘s correspondent in Gaza pointed out that “the Al-Quds Brigades fired about 130 rockets at the settlements within 10 minutes.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement mourned those who were martyred in the aggression that targeted a residential area in the Yabna camp in Rafah, including commander Khaled Mansour.

The Israeli occupation began on August 5 aggression on the Gaza Strip on Friday, and Al-Quds Brigades announced that Tayseer Al-Jaabari, a military commander in the northern Gaza Strip, had been martyred.

The Palestinian Resistance factions mourned the martyrs of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, stressing that the occupation shall bear all the consequences of the aggression.

Consequently, Al-Quds Brigades launched an operation in response to the Israeli occupation’s aggression on the Gaza Strip, by launching salvoes of rockets toward the occupied Palestinian territories.

Earlier today, Palestinian sources revealed Sunday to Al Mayadeen that “the Islamic Jihad movement (PIJ) possesses a game-changing weapon.”

The sources confirmed that this weapon is capable of seriously changing the course current battle, adding that “the resistance has not decided yet whether or not to use this game-changing weapon now or postpone it for a coming decisive battle.”

Sword of Jerusalem II has begun and there is no room for negotiation

Israel may have miscalculated, again. The PIJ resistance it has brutally targeted in Gaza and the West Bank wants to take this confrontation until the liberation of Palestine

August 06 2022

By Abdel Bari Atwan

Only about half of the 160 rockets (Israel says 400+) fired by Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) on the mass of Israeli settlements flanking the Gaza Strip were intercepted by Israel’s US-funded Iron Dome systems.

This, in itself, is a major military and psychological achievement for the Palestinian resistance. The settlers have lost their security, their time to leave has come.

The PIJ cleverly handled the pre-battle phase by stepping up armed military confrontations in the West Bank, entering into strategic operational coordination with Fatah’s Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade – particularly in Jenin, Nablus and Tulkarem – and besieging and forcing a curfew on more than 1.5 million Israelis in the southern settlements adjacent to the Gaza Strip.

These confrontations were in retaliation for Israel’s targeting of PIJ’s cadres throughout Palestinian territories this summer. But it was the Israeli leadership which decided on war and must take responsibility for the consequences of its decision, regionally and internationally. The PIJ lured Tel Aviv to war without firing a single missile, and herein lies the miracle.

A war or a skirmish?

The battle is still in its infancy, and in its first two days was limited to the PIJ alone, which stands with its resistance fighters in the face of the mighty Israeli military machine.

The participation of other Palestinian factions in the battlefield, especially Hamas, is still not excluded.

The PIJ’s announcement on Saturday that its military forces are mobilized and prepared may be the first step to what comes next.

It is Israel that began the airstrikes and violated its commitments to previous agreements, most notably by initiating and executing a campaign to assassinate PIJ leaders: most recently Tayseer Al-Jabari, their field commander in the Gaza Strip, and a number of his fellow fighters. For this, Tel Aviv will now have to pay a heavy price.

The resistance in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and their constituents are rushing to join Hamas and its fighters, missiles, drones, and frogmen into the confrontation; to provide protection to the more than two million Palestinians currently under Israel’s absolute rule in Gaza.

The most frequent question asked in the West Bank and Gaza Strip today is “where are Abu Obeida, Mohammad Deif, and Yahya al-Sinwar?” – in reference to the military spokesman of Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigades, its supreme military commander, and Hamas’ political leader in Gaza, respectively. “How long will they be absent from this battle?”

Israel’s big problem

Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz may have launched the airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on Friday, but he will not be the one to decide the battle’s conclusion. As in the Sword of Jerusalem (Saif al-Quds) conflagration in May 2021, which Gantz incorrectly predicted would last at least a week, he cannot control the outcome of this fight.

That May, to Israel’s utter horror and confusion, for the first time in decades, West Bank, Gaza and 1948 Palestinians banded together to confront Israel over its provocative storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem. In one short month, Tel Aviv’s decades-long systematic efforts to separate and compartmentalize these three Palestinian areas was decimated.

Gantz, his army, and his prime minister (Benjamin Netanyahu) were impotent in the face of the multi-front Palestinian response. It was US President Joe Biden who begged Egyptian mediators for a quick intervention because Israel could not sustain the repercussions of one more missile hitting Tel Aviv.

Will Hamas join the fight?

It is clear that Hamas cannot stand by while Israeli raids kill children and bomb towers in the Gaza Strip.

Although somewhat restrained by its Turkish and Arab allies, Hamas – a resistance partner to the PIJ – must ultimately listen to its Palestinian, Arab and Muslim constituents, or risk losing much in the short and medium term.

Daoud Shihab, spokesman for the PIJ’s Al-Quds Brigades, has already said “No” to Arab mediators led by Egypt. The PIJ believes that this is not the time to calm down, but to confront Israel’s aggression, avenge the Palestinian martyrs and ask:

How dare the mediators resume their efforts, talk about ceasefires, and try to halt a justified Palestinian response. Did the Israeli enemy respect its commitments to rebuild the Gaza Strip, refrain from assassinating the leaders of the resistance, and ease years of a harrowing siege?

“We have been deceived by the mediators,” says Mohammad Al Hindi, a member of the Political Bureau of the PIJ movement.

When General Benny Gantz says that his current Gaza operation is to strike the entire PIJ network – in parallel with strikes directed by his security forces in the West Bank – he reveals his plan for a “fitna” (inner rebellion) to tear apart the unity of the resistance and instigate a factional war between the PIJ and Hamas movements. Greater awareness and discipline is required to thwart Gantz’s plan, specifically by Hamas.

On Friday night, the PIJ’s Secretary General Ziad Al-Nakhala declared in an on-air interview with Al-Mayadeen that this war is open: there are no red lines and it will continue until victory.

Nakhala also said he may issue instructions to the PIJ delegation to refuse Egyptian mediation in Cairo, and halt ceasefire negotiations that will serve Israel’s interests only and save Tel Aviv from this trap it fell into with eyes wide open.

A war until liberation?

This is a war that will last. It comes as a precious gift to the Palestinian people and their resistance, and the coming days will reveal shocking and terrifying surprises for the Israelis that will send millions of them into shelters and global isolation.

Hezbollah’s Hisham Safieddine, executive council chairman of the Lebanese resistance movement, recently said: “The resistance has obtained strategic weapons that will break the balance of power, and the enemy’s attempt to prevent their arrival has failed.”

To this he added: “we must be present and not be affected by propaganda media campaigns that want to undermine our capabilities – by the Israeli, US and Gulf media and some of their ‘mignons’ in Lebanon. We will not give up our wealth [natural resources] in our territorial waters,” which means that the gas war is very imminent.

We are facing a war that may have begun in the Gaza Strip, but could, with just one ill-timed spark, transform into a regional war involving many other resistance factions. This comes at a time when western colonialism is facing two major power wars – in Ukraine (with Russia) and East Asia (with China).

Millions anticipating the appearance of Hamas’ Abu Obeida with his red kefiyah may not have to wait long. The Sword of Jerusalem II is in the running to be a much larger and more dangerous confrontation than the Sword of Jerusalem I.

Airports may close very soon, and thousands of Israeli settlers may take to the seas in search of safety from the retaliatory missiles of the resistance. Watch this space and its developments in the coming days.

Know Who Was Martyr Tayseer Al-Jaabari (Photos)

August 6, 2022

Tayseer Al-Jaabari, the Islamic Jihad senior commander, was assassinated by Israeli occupation on Friday. He had been for decades climbing the ranks of the resistance group.

According to Palestinian resistance sources, Al-Jaabari, 50, oversaw the manufacture of local-made anti-tank missiles in Gaza. Last year, he commanded a cell which fired for the first anti-tank missile against Israeli vehicle during ‘Operation Sword of Al-Quds’ in May 2021.

“Jabari directed attacks during Operation Guardian of the Walls and oversaw the firing of hundreds of rockets against Israel,” Israeli media quoted Israeli Military Spokesman Brig.-Gen. Ran Kochav, as saying.

Al-Jaabari was member of the Military Council of Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad resistance group, and was appointed in 2019 as the commander of Gaza’s northern region following martyrdom of ex-commander Baha Abu Al-Ata.

Born in 1972, he lived in Gaza’s Shojaiyyah neighborhood. Al-Jaabari joined the ranks of the Islamic Jihad as he was pursuing his academic education in Gaza’ Islamic University, Islamic Studies major.

He spent several years in Israeli prisons as he was also arrested Palestinian Authority for several times following Oslo Accords in 1993.

In a video published by the Military Media Department of Al-Quds Brigades on Friday, Al-Jaabari appears addressing fighters of Al-Quds Brigades and slamming normalization attempts by several Arab states.

“Al-Quds Brigades is a spearhead in the battle against the Israeli enemy in Palestine… This land won’t be liberated but by faithful fighters who hold the message of Jihad,” Al-Jaabari says in the footage.

Following his martyrdom, Islamic Jihad Secretary General Ziad al-Nakhalah vowed to avenge his assassination.

“We are heading to battle, and there is no truce after this airstrike,” Nakhalah said. “The results of this war will be in favor of the Palestinian people. The enemy should expect a battle, not a truce.”

Sayyed Nasrallah reveals Hezbollah’s project in Palestine

22 Jul 2022

Source: Al Mayadeen

By Al Mayadeen English

Sayyed Nasrallah stresses that Hezbollah’s project in Palestine rests on the Palestinian people liberating their land by resisting the enemy.

The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah

In the fifth and final episode of the “40 and Beyond” documentary series, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, revealed that the death of the great Syrian President Hafez Al-Assad constituted a huge loss.

In an interview with Al Mayadeen CEO, Ghassan Ben Jeddou, Sayyed Nasrallah highly valued the role of late President Hafez Al-Assad in the equation of the Arab-Israeli struggle.

Sayyed Nasrallah recalled that President Hafez Al-Assad exerted strained efforts for the sake of the Resistance project in the region for a period of 20 years.

Sayyed Nasrallah narrated two experiences with late Syria President Hafez Al Assad. The first was in July 1993, when the July Understanding was reached, and the second was in 1996 during Operation “Grapes of Wrath.

The Secretary-General iterated the extent to which late President Hafez Al-Assad was careful to consult Hezbollah.

Sayyed Nasrallah stated that late President Hafez Al-Assad took Hezbollah’s opinion into consideration, preserving the Resistance, its project, morale, and victories.

President Al-Assad did whatever maintained the interest of the Resistance and fulfilled the Resistance’s requests in all the negotiations that used to take place in Damascus, according to Sayyed Nasrallah.

“Our opinion was always taken into consideration; we weren’t just consulted as someone might consult you, but then does the opposite however, our opinion was always applied even in texts and agreements,” he stressed.

He further detailed that President Al-Assad did whatever maintained the interest of the Resistance and fulfilled the Resistance’s requests in all the negotiations that used to take place in Damascus.

Training Palestinian factions

On the role of Hezbollah in training Palestinian factions in the past, the Secretary-General revealed that the resistance movement used to train the Lebanese and Palestinians that were and still are fighting “Israel”.

The Secretary-General pointed out that the military training was not only limited to Islamic factions, noting that some factions may not need training.

No Hezbollah in Palestine

In the course of the interview, Sayyed Nasrallah exposed that he received letters from Palestinian youths and even from Palestinian cadres urging him to establish a new faction in Palestine under Lebanese Hezbollah’s leadership.

However, Hezbollah’s decision was clear in this regard; no Hezbollah in Palestine, Sayyed Nasrallah tersely stated.

According to Sayyed Nasrallah, Hezbollah does not have its own project in Palestine.

The Secretary-General went on to say that there are several resistance factions in Palestine, asserting that Hamas and the Islamic Jihad were present, as well as the rest of the national factions.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Sayyed Nasrallah suggested that if someone in Palestine wanted to cooperate with us; he can cooperate with the national factions there if he has a national ideology or with Hamas and the Islamic Jihad if he has an Islamic ideology.

Sayyed Nasrallah concluded by reasserting that Hezbollah’s project is that Palestine will be liberated by its people who resist the enemy.

“Therefore, we can cooperate with every Palestinian, regardless of his ideological, intellectual, organizational, or political background”, he said.

It is noteworthy that on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Hezbollah and the 30th anniversary of the election of Sayyed Nasrallah as the Lebanese party’s Secretary-General, Al Mayadeen produced a five-part documentary series, featuring a rare interview with the Resistance leader dating back to 20 years.

From stones to missiles: Evolution of the Palestinian resistance forms and methods

13 Jul 2022

Source: Al Mayadeen English

The Palestinian resistance is now on the rise. With every passing day, its military capabilities are increasing steadily, and pledging more sacrifices and efforts.

From stones to missiles: Evolution of the Palestinian resistance forms and methods

After “Israel” invaded Lebanon in 1982, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was forced into yet another exile. PLO’s forces were stationed in far–away Arab capitals (Yemen and Algeria) and the PLO headquarters were moved to Tunisia. This major development resulted in a general decline in resistance activities inside and outside of occupied Palestine. The shock lasted for a few years during which “Israel”, backed by the US, tried to capitalize on its military achievement to turn it into a political triumph, hence the (Saudi) Arab Initiative for Peace in1982, the rapprochement between the PLO leadership and the Egyptian regime, and the increased activities of the collaborationist “villages’ leagues” in occupied Palestine.

That period of lull and uncertainty ended in 1987, when the first uprising (in Arabic: Intifada) erupted. The heroic military operation against the Israeli army, using gliders, launched from Southern Lebanon, was very inspiring to the Palestinian people under occupation and revived the belief in resistance and revolution. The Intifada was very widespread among the masses, far exceeding the framework of the Palestinian organizations. Popular struggle against occupation; demonstrations, strikes, and closures, was its main feature. Brave young people confronting the heavily-armed Israeli troops and throwing stones at them, attracted the eyes of the world. Stone became the symbol of the Intifada. The Stone Revolution was actually a popular invention, considering the lack of support, the absence of infrastructure for armed struggle, and the state of encirclement imposed by “Israel” on the Palestinian people.

The Dark Nineties

After the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990 and the subsequent Gulf war, the first phase of the Intifada ended. The PLO got engaged in extensive series of public and secretive negotiations with “Israel”, that resulted in the “Oslo Agreement” in 1993 and the formation of the “Palestinian Authority” in the major cities of Gaza and the West Bank. As for the Palestinian struggle and resistance, the nineties were very bad years! The “Palestinian Authority (PA)” joined “Israel” in its battle against anybody who plans for, or even thinks of, fighting the Israeli forces. That happened under the banner of “security coordination” according to the terms of the infamous Oslo Agreement. Life became very difficult, if not impossible, for the real freedom fighters, especially in the environment of fake peace that took over the whole region. Jordan joined in and signed the “Wadi Araba Treaty” with

“Israel”, and with Egypt already having its “Camp David Accords” with “Israel”, the prospects for armed struggle against the Israeli occupation became gloomy. With Iraq defeated and isolated, Libya under sanctions, and Algeria in internal turmoil, Syria was pushed by the Arab League to join the negotiations process in the middle east – sponsored by the Clinton administration in the US (though it maintained its political stance towards the Palestinian cause and did not sign any bilateral deal with “Israel”).  The only country in the middle east that maintained its support for the Palestinian right to liberation via armed struggle and remained vocal in its opposition to the so-called “peace process”, was Iran. But Iran at that time was very busy in major internal rebuilding after the eight-year destructive war with Iraq (1980 – 1988). Iran’s focus was on helping the Lebanese resistance to liberate the Southern part of the country – still under Israeli occupation.

Under these circumstances, popular and mass resistance actions were no longer possible, so the Palestinian revolutionaries turned to other methods targeting the Israeli occupation, particularly explosive devices and booby traps, individual attacks, and martyrdom operations carried out by small groups and orchestrated by a few individuals – planners. However, by the end of the nineties, “Israel” – with real contribution from the Palestinian Authority – was able to eliminate the active masterminds of that kind of armed resistance, and things in Palestine appeared as if the Israel-PA partnership is working.

The Second Intifada

In the year 2000, negotiations between PLO’s Yasser Arafat and Israel’s Ehud Barak reached a deadlock and collapsed. Arafat failed to get anything tangible or meaningful in return for his years-long cooperation. In the meantime, scenes came from Southern Lebanon of the humiliating and disgraceful Israeli withdrawal under the strikes of Lebanese armed resistance.

Pragmatic in nature, Yasser Arafat decided to use the armed struggle as a means of pressurizing the Israelis. He had done that repeatedly in the past, while in Lebanon. Arafat hinted to his aides to bypass the security coordination with “Israel” and he relied on the Palestinian guerilla fighters. It didn’t take long for the second Intifada to break out. It quickly turned into a wave of strong and impactful martyrdom operations against “Israel”, the biggest of which was in the town of Netanya where 30 Israelis were killed on 27 March 2002.

Despite the large scale of the Israeli invasion of the PA territories, the massacre in the Jenin refugees camp, and the encirclement of Yasser Arafat in his headquarter, the Palestinian revolutionary spirit didn’t weaken, especially in the Gaza strip. Arafat passed away in 2004 and his successor, Mahmoud Abbas, was much less charismatic and powerful. In 2005, “Israel” came to the conclusion that the Gaza strip was a “lost cause” and decided to unilaterally withdraw its forces from there. The net result of these developments was a stronger presence of the armed resistance organizations in Gaza, particularly Al-Qassam group, the military wing of the (Islamic) Hamas movement, which started working almost openly.

Build up of Palestinian Military Capabilities

2007 was a landmark. Hamas movement managed to expel the security apparatus of the PA and imposed its control all over the Gaza strip. Since then, the “golden era” of the armed Palestinian resistance began. The fighting groups, particularly Al-Qassam and “Saraya Al-Quds”, were inspired by the Hezbollah struggle against “Israel” in Lebanon, and gradually started moving in the direction of military professionalism, with brigades and hierarchy. They quickly established links to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, headed by Hajj Qassem Soleimani, and to Hezbollah in Lebanon. For its part, “Israel” traced and thwarted several attempts to stop smuggling weapons from Iran to Gaza via the Red Sea, Sudan and Sinai. It also assassinated Hamas’ military wing liaison officer, Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh in Dubai. Hosni Mubarak’s Egypt, in turn, arrested the Hezbollah commander, Sami Shehab, in charge of channeling military aid to Gaza in 2009. Despite all that, and the very complicated logistics situation, it was evident that significant technical and financial support did reach Gaza and enabled the resistance movements to start with a “local production” program for military tools and means, though simple and limited.

With the repeated Israeli attacks and encounters, the Palestinian resistance movements gained substantial military experience and became more effective. In 2014, the Palestinian armed resistance launched rockets that landed inside “Israel”, though with limited precision and range. “Israel” was getting very worried about the developments in Gaza and tried its best to eliminate the scientific and qualified personnel of the resistance in Gaza. “Israel” actually managed to assassinate senior leaders from the Palestinian military wings responsible in particular for the missiles programs, notably among them was Baha’ Abul Atta of Saraya Al-Quds, and before him Ahmad Al-Ja’abari, the deputy commander of Al-Qassam brigades. But the momentum gained by the resistance movements in Gaza didn’t vanish. On the contrary, military wings became even stronger and their work became systematic – not dependent on specific persons. When the Americans assassinated Hajj Qassem Suleimani early in 2020, the role that he played in building the Palestinian military capabilities came into public. The leaders of all armed wings of the Palestinian movements spoke very warmly of him and expressed their gratitude for his help and leadership. On the Palestinian front, Hajj Qassem cared for one thing only: unity against the Zionist entity (Israel). He whole-heartedly believed that Zionist injustice in Palestine will have to come to an end, sooner or later.

During Saif Al-Quds Battle

In the last encounter of 2021, known as Saif Al-Quds, the much-improved military capabilities of the Palestinian military wings came into display. Within a few days, thousands of missiles were successfully launched from Gaza and reached their targets deep inside “Israel”. The Palestinian movements also formed a joint operation and command room to coordinate activities and responses. The Israeli army, and its “Iron Dome” defense system, failed to down the Palestinian rockets. “Israel” didn’t dare to carry out ground operations in Gaza and was no longer able to sustain prolonged military operations due to the internal turmoil caused by the Palestinian missiles which practically “froze” the Israeli economy for days. A state of deterrence was established with “Israel” as if it were between two armies. That was a remarkable success for the Palestinian resistance. The days when the Israeli army was able to wander in Gaza without expecting a damaging response were long gone. The Palestinian resistance was able to impose new realities on the ground. It’s a new era, that of the “missile” resistance. No more knives or stones throwing.

The Palestinian resistance is now on the rise. With every passing day, its military capabilities are increasing steadily, and pledging more sacrifices and efforts. The new generation in Palestine is more determined than ever before to liberate its country. And it’s not over yet.

The Hamas-Syria Reconciliation: A ’Source of Concern’ For ‘Israel’

July 1, 2022

By Staff, Agencies

A recent report that Hamas and Syria reestablished relations after a decade of rupture between them is a source of concern for ‘Israel,’ according to comments made by senior researcher at the ‘Institute for Counter-Terrorism’ in Herzliya, Michael Barak, to the Jewish News Syndicate.

According to Barak, the reports of a new breakthrough in ties between Damascus and Hamas appear credible.

“Hezbollah in Lebanon was involved in this reconciliation,” he said. “The efforts led to a green light from Hamas and the Syrian regime. Why did it happen now? It took time for Hezbollah to mediate and for relations to thaw.”

“This is a source of concern for ‘Israel’ because we know that Hamas is building up its presence in the north of Lebanon. If Hamas opens a headquarters in Syria, it can start building capabilities in Syria, too,” cautioned Barak.

Looking ahead, Barak posited a scenario in which Hamas could act as the arrowhead of Palestinian resistance groups in Syria with the blessing of Hezbollah and Iran.

On June 23, Hamas’ Political Bureau Head Ismail Haniya met with Hezbollah Secretary-General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut in their first meeting in a year.

The two resistance leaders discussed the anti-‘Israel’ Axis of Resistance.

Also in Beirut recently, Hezbollah has held a series of meetings with other Palestinian resistance factions.

“The goal is to find a way to unite ranks and to discuss how to strengthen the Palestinian ‘bloc’ in the resistance axis,” Barak said.

“Hamas is trying to create a command and control mechanism with other Palestinian factions in Lebanon so that it can operate in a more efficient manner from Lebanon, and now, Syria’s door is open, too. This is a force multiplier,” he stated.

JULY 1ST, 2022

By Miko Peled

When Ahed Tamimi tried to defend herself and her home from an armed Israeli officer she became an international heroine. Images of her were plastered everywhere and she was named a “Lioness.” As she candidly admits in her soon to be published memoir (co-written with Dena Takruri) she did not want, nor did she seek this fame. She just wanted to go to school and play soccer.

What Ahed’s story demonstrates is that we have forsaken the Palestinian people. Even Palestinian children are left alone to defend themselves with their bare hands against a vicious occupation force that sends soldiers and officers who are armed to the teeth to attack Palestinians in their homes and are never held accountable for their crimes.

The answer is no one. When Palestinians risk their lives as they do regularly in their heroic efforts to stay alive and resist oppression, there is no one that stands between them and the Israeli war machine. Ahed Tamimi was recently targeted again. However, the bullet intended for her hit her cousin, who was standing next to her. The soldiers actually called her by name.

Then we saw the same thing in the case of Shireen Abu Akleh, a well-known and respected journalist. Shireen was assassinated in broad daylight. There was no accountability at all, from the shooters to the decision makers who gave the orders. We have come to learn that when Palestinians are targeted we can expect no arrests or serious investigation.

Noted activist Issa Amro is another example. He is thankfully still alive, but there is no certainty that he will be tomorrow. In the city of Hebron where Issa lives and works, soldiers and settlers surround him as he stands in the front line trying to free himself, his city and indeed his country from their brutality. The Old City of Hebron is perhaps one of the most dangerous places to be a Palestinian. Issa is well known for his commitment and dedication to resistance, albeit a dedicatedly unarmed resistance. The soldiers and the settlers recognize him and he is in constant danger.

Issa has been detained, arrested, beaten and dragged to military court enough times to fill the pages of a thick memoir. A new escalation in his persecution seems to have begun in the summer of 2022. In a matter of weeks, his house has been raided several times and he was detained and harassed by soldiers who handcuffed and blindfolded him, keeping him like that for hours.

People often use the term “for no reason,” when speaking about their unjust harassment, detention, arrest and killing by Israeli forces. However, this term is misleading. In the case of Issa Amro, as in the case of Shireen Abu Akleh, Ahed Tamimi and countless others, there is an excellent reason. The motive for the killing of Shireen and the constant brutal assault on people like Issa is that they have a voice that is heard around the world. Israel is terrified and when an armed bully is scared, it reacts with violence.

Another aspect of Issa Amro’s case is that he was designated a “human rights defender” by the United Nations in 2010. The U.S. State Department followed suit in 2011, as did the European Union in 2013. A 2016 Amnesty International report entitled “Israeli Government Must Cease Intimidation of Human Rights Defenders, Protect Them From Attacks,” lists Issa and several others as human rights defenders and details the ways in which the Israeli government regularly harasses them. Since the report came out, six years have passed and nothing is being done to see to it that these defenders are protected. The question that needs to be answered without delay is, who defends the defenders when they are attacked brutally and with impunity by Israel?

How far back do we need to go in order to demonstrate how Israel gets away with murder? From its very founding moment, Israeli forces have been murdering Palestinians with impunity. Raids on homes and arrests and detention of political activists have been part of the daily life of Palestinians from the very beginning of the Apartheid regime in 1948.

Israel targets people and then executes its plan whether it is to detain, arrest, or otherwise harass them. In some cases, their targets are shot and killed. When they kill a well-known Palestinian, we hear about it, talk about it and then move on until we hear of another name. Each one of these Palestinians had a bullet with their name on it and it was just a question of time until that bullet found its mark. Unless the supply of bullets to Israel is brought to an end, the killing of Palestinians will continue uninterrupted.

International organizations that claim to stand for the rights of the oppressed need to have their feet on the ground. Like soldiers, they must have people there to stand in the midst so that Palestinians are protected. With all due respect, the designation of a human rights defender may help but it does not guarantee the lives or even the safety of those who carry it. Any organization, governmental or non-governmental that claims to have the interests of the oppressed on its agenda needs to stand in front of Israeli soldiers as they harass and endanger the lives of Palestinians.

Indeed, some soldiers wear suits. In capitals around the world, representatives of the state of Israel walk around in suits. But they are no less violent and racist than the soldiers in uniform in Hebron or the settlers in El-Lyd or the Yoav unit of the Israeli police that operate in the Naqab. They are all equally dedicated to the destruction of Palestine and to the preservation at all costs of the Apartheid regime.

The soldiers in suits walk through the halls of governments, the offices of big corporations, and the headquarters of NGOs to ensure that the Apartheid regime’s interests are protected. So far the evidence shows that their work is rewarded and their interests are protected.

What is also clear is that the lives of Palestinians, be they unarmed activists or fighters, be they children, women, men, or the elderly, are only worth the price of the bullet that carries their name. And while we will talk and write about the next Palestinian who is killed for a few days, their children will remain orphans for life.

Maduro: We Are All Part of Axis of Resistance

June 21, 2022

By Staff, Khamenei.ir

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said the ‘Axis of Resistance’ is not just confined to certain countries across the world, but it refers to all those fighting colonialism and hegemonic powers.

“The Axis of Resistance exists throughout the world; it exists in Africa, in Asia, in the Middle East, in Latin America and in the Caribbean. The Resistance also belongs to the people who are fighting against neoliberalism, racism and various forms of colonization, political, economic, cultural colonization and cyber colonization,” Maduro said in an exclusive interview with the official website of Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei that was published on Monday.

“All of us who fight against colonialism, all of us who fight to decolonize our minds and our people, are part of the Axis of Resistance that stands against the methods of the imperialists for imposing hegemony on the world,” he added.

Maduro: We Are All Part of Axis of Resistance

Lauding the deeds of the Axis of Resistance throughout the years, Maduro said, “The 21st century is our century. It is the century of the unity of the people. It is the century in which people will be liberated. It is the century of justice and truth. Empires are in decline, and people’s projects for well-being, development and greatness have just begun. This century is our century.”

Pointing to a recent meeting with Imam Khamenei and the His Eminence’s statement about the very close relationship between Iran and Venezuela, Maduro said, “Since Commander Hugo Chavez’s first visit in 2001, Iran and Venezuela have established exemplary political, diplomatic, moral, and spiritual ties.”

“During this current trip, I’ve witnessed how there is an exemplary relationship between us in terms of our increasing cooperation. We’ve had many successes. So Imam Khamenei is right when he states that the relationship between the two countries is quite unique and extraordinary,” he noted.

Asked about his latest assertion regarding the Zionist occupation regime’s conspiracies against Venezuela through Mossad, Maduro said, “Imperialism and Zionism are conspiring against the progressive, revolutionary processes taking place in Latin America and the Caribbean, especially the Bolivarian Revolution.”

The Venezuelan president stressed, “This is because we are a true alternative, an alternative of truth and justice, an alternative of freedom, an alternative of democracy, and an alternative for realizing projects that are fully humane in the Latin American region and the Caribbean Sea. In addition to this, Mossad’s conspiracies are due to our strong position of solidarity with the Palestinian people and our support of them for their regaining their historical rights and for the Palestinian Resistance. Our support of them is strong and unique, and we will continue supporting them in this manner.”

Asked about the role of Iran’s anti-terror commander General Qassem Soleimani and the Quds Force over the last 20 years in strengthening the relationship between Tehran and Caracas, Maduro said he met General Soleimani in March and April of 2019 when he came to Venezuela during the time of US’ cyberattacks against the country’s power plants.

“I really didn’t know. I didn’t know him. I didn’t know how amazing he was, but the discussion I had with him was very pleasant. We reviewed everything during our meeting and he immediately suggested we get help from Iranian experts. Two or three days later, Iranian experts came to repair electrical services in Venezuela,” he added.

In response to a question regarding a saying by Imam Khamenei that, “If Prophet Issa [Peace upon Him] were among us today, he wouldn’t miss a moment to fight the leaders of global oppression and arrogance,” Maduro said, “We’re believing Christians. We’re the type of Christians who take action while praying and thinking. And Christ came into this world to fight the Empires. He came to confront the Roman Empires. He risked his life. He sacrificed his life to fight the Roman Empire.”

The Venezuelan leader said, “If there’s one good thing I can say about Christianity, it is its anti-imperialist nature and its seeking of truth and justice against the oppressors. I have no doubt that if Christ were among us today, he would have been at the forefront of the battle against imperialism, colonialism and all forms of oppression.”

During the interview, Maduro pointed to several meetings he had had with Imam Khamenei over the years as well as the meeting between Chavez and the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

“I’ve always admired Imam Khamenei’s excellent memory. That he recalls the memories of those days is important. In the talks that I have had with him, he has recalled some of the conversations he had with Commander Chavez where Commander Chavez shared some of his memories about Cuba and Commander Fidel Castro. There was a time when a hurricane was heading straight toward Cuba. It was a Category 5 hurricane. A conversation took place between Fidel and Chavez. Fidel said, “Chavez! What you need to do right now is to pray. Pray for us!” Chavez started praying. That day passed and the hurricane changed its course. It didn’t cross over Cuba. Chavez called Fidel and said, “It’s a miracle!” Fidel replied, “Yes, it’s because God helps Chavez and Chavez’s friends.” In the last talk that I had with Imam Khamenei, he told me this story in a friendly, kind way in memory of Commander Chavez and Commander Fidel Castro,” he said.

“Holding a conversation with Imam Khamenei truly fills one with spirituality and wisdom. He likes the Venezuelan people. He likes the people’s ideals, and he always offers us great ideas and recommendations,” Maduro underlined.

40 Years On: The History of Hezbollah’s Emergence [Part 1]

June 15, 2022

By Mohammad Youssef

June this year marks a very important historical event, the 40th anniversary of the advent of the Islamic resistance or the emergence of Hezbollah; the first and the most important and the mightiest and most influential non state actor in the world, as described by western sources.

Why all of this? Is it a kind of exaggeration? This is what we will be discussing in this article.

In June 1982, the ‘Israeli’ occupation forces invaded Lebanon and reached its capital Beirut. The leader of the ‘Israeli’ invading forces entered the presidential palace in Baabda and took pictures sitting in the presidential office.

The announced ‘Israeli’ goal behind the invasion named “Operation Galilee” was to ward off the threat of the Palestinian shells away from the border with the Occupied Palestine. Nonetheless, as the time passed, the real goals started to be revealed gradually.

After occupying Palestine, ‘Israel’ wanted to annex Lebanon as a whole into its western-backed colonialist expansionist strategy.

The ‘Israeli’ leadership planned and succeeded to impose a so-called ‘peace’ treaty with Lebanon. The treaty was known as the May 17th Treaty. This treaty would definitely compromise the country’s sovereignty and would also violate its basic rights as an independent state and would threaten its very existence on the long run.

Lebanon was once and for a long time called the weakest ring, the country whose official policy and philosophy was that its strength is in its weaknesses, and the country which the ‘Israelis’ paid the less attention to as a threat to their plans and made series of jokes mocking its fragility and weakness.

This very country has presented a full surprise to the occupiers, not a good one of course. Thanks to the resistance leaders.

The ‘Israeli’ occupation forces, from the very first hours of their invasion, have been confronted by the resistance of many parties inside Lebanon.

Operations were carried out by many resistance groups. One of the groups that has started the resistance early enough was a group of people who joined ranks to fight the occupation, they had something in common which is the religious commitment under the banner of what came to be known and called later, the Islamic Resistance, or Hezbollah.

The party spearheaded the resistance for a quite long time, and thus has become the vertebral column or the backbone of the resistance.

This group was characterized with high discipline and firm organization. It was not only distinguished with its close relation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, but also with the unshakable conviction of its followers in the Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist [Wilayat al Faqih] system which represents the legal and constitutional governmental system in Iran.

To be continued…
