Several injuries and arrests were made in Jenin on Monday as Israeli occupation forces (IOF) raided the refugee camp for the first time since the large-scale offensive they carried last July.

Fierce clashes erupted shortly after Palestinian resistance spotted an Israeli special force on the camp’s entrance, Jenin Battalion of the Islamic Jihad’s Al-Quds Brigades announced.

Five Palestinian resistance fighters were injured as IOF fired live bullets and deployed snipers on the roofs of the buildings in the refugee camp, Palestinian media reported, citing the head of Jenin Governmental Hospital.

Jenin Battalion said its fighters heroically confronted the raid, adding that they have managed to down an Israeli drone.

“Our Mujahedeen (fighters) targeted the occupation forces as they were pulling out of the camp, and inflicted losses upon them,” the resistance group added.

Israeli media reported that the IOF entered the West Bank city to conduct arrests “based on intelligence gathered rather than carrying out a widespread arrest operation.”

“Three Palestinians affiliated with Hamas were arrested, identified by security forces as Abdallah Hassan Muhammad Zubah, Vered Asherif and Mutazben Jaitza,” The Jerusalem Post reported.

It added that the Israeli forces operated in the raid included the occupation military’s elite commando Duvdevan Unit and Sayeret Golani, along with Border Police officers.

“The operation was not planned far in advance and did not take place during the overnight hours as most raids do because the specific intelligence leading to the operation only came forward shortly before the operation,” according to JPost

The raid marks the first time IOF troops entered Jenin since its major operation launched on the West Bank city and its refugee camp last July.

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) withdrew from the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank following a fierce confrontation with Resistance fighters, Al Mayadeen‘s correspondent reported.

Occupation forces had initiated an incursion into Jenin camp, sparking intense clashes with Resistance fighters who swiftly engaged the invaders with live fire and locally manufactured explosive devices.

Al-Quds Brigades – Jenin Brigade announced that they successfully downed and captured an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that had been flying over the camp to assist the intruding occupation troops. They also said that they targeted occupation vehicles at the camp’s outskirts with a barrage of bullets and previously planted Improvised Explosive Devices.

Our correspondent in the West Bank reported that the occupation forces deployed significant military reinforcements to the camp after Resistance fighters discovered a special Israeli force on the Jenin camp’s outskirts. In the process, two members of Hamas were captured by the IOF, and the occupation admitted that it had gone into the camp in pursuit of another individual.

The director of Jenin Government Hospital said that five Palestinians were injured by Israeli fire during the storming of Jenin as a result of Israeli fire.

In response, the Jenin Brigade, affiliated with the Al-Quds Brigades, announced their targeting of Israeli occupation forces and vehicles with a combination of bullets and explosive devices.

The Resistance is prepared for all possibilities

Mohammad al-Hajj Musa, spokesperson for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), affirmed to Al Mayadeen the significance of the Jenin camp as an enduring symbol of revolution, defiance, and resistance. He noted that the renewed invasion by the Israeli occupation demonstrated the failure of “Israel’s” security coordination plan with the Palestinian Authority, and underscored the West Bank’s growing importance as a “security challenge” to the occupation.

He also added, “We are determined to maintain the unity of the battlefield and are prepared for all possibilities to defend our people.”

Recent Israeli incursions into Jenin and its camp have escalated in an ongoing campaign, targeting the apprehension or elimination of Palestinian Resistance fighters.
