Palestine’s Guernica and the Myths of Israeli Victimhood

Palestine’s Guernica and the Myths of Israeli Victimhood
Mustafa Barghouthi, Secretary General of the Palestinian National Initiative

An Israeli War Crimes Tribunal (ICTI) May be the Only Deterrent

The purpose of the ICTI would be to investigate and prosecute Israeli war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide against the Peoples of Lebanon and Palestine–just as the ICTY did for the victims of international crimes committed by Serbia and the Milosevic Regime throughout the Balkans.

The establishment of ICTI would provide some small degree of justice to the victims of Israeli war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide against the Peoples of Lebanon and Palestine–just as the ICTY has done in the Balkans. Furthermore, the establishment of ICTI by the U.N. General Assembly would serve as a deterrent effect upon Israeli leaders such as Prime Minister Olmert, Foreign Minister Livni, Defense Minister Barak , Chief of Staff Ashkenazi and Israel’s other top generals that they will be prosecuted for their further infliction of international crimes upon the Lebanese and the Palestinians. Without such a deterrent, Israel might be emboldened to attack Syria with the full support of the Likhudnik Bush Jr. Neoconservatives, who have always viewed Syria as “low-hanging fruit” ready to be taken out by means of their joint aggression. If Israel attacks Syria as it did when it invaded Lebanon in 1982, Iran has vowed to come to Syria’s defense.

And of course Israel and the Bush Jr administration very much want a pretext to attack Iran. This scenario could readily degenerate into World War III.

For the U.N. General Assembly to establish ICTI could stop the further development of this momentum towards a regional if not global catastrophe.

World must say “No” to Jewish Nazism before it is too late

[ 31/12/2008 – 01:10 AM ]

By Khalid Amayreh

The genocidal Israeli onslaught against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip is strikingly similar to the German blitz in the initial stage of the Second World War. The pretexts are nearly the same and the behaviors of both Nazi and Israeli political and military leadership are nearly identical.

And as the German Nazis sought to justify their blitz against their neighbors to the east, using a plethora of carefully concocted lies and pretexts, Israel is doing virtually the same thing.

However, unlike the Nazis whose naked aggression was widely condemned around the world, the ongoing Israeli onslaught against the Gaza Strip is being condoned, even celebrated, by a huge media network throughout the western world from Sydney to Los Angeles.

Today, Israel is decapitating Gaza while claiming that it is only fighting Hamas. The Israeli air force is targeting and destroying schools, mosques, private homes, charities, public buildings, drug stores, colleges and universities, all under the false pretext of fighting Hamas.

This is not a war against Hamas. It is a war against the Palestinian people as is obvious from the fact that the bulk of the victims are innocent civilians.

And like all criminals, Israel is resorting to the fabrication of lies and half-truths to justify its genocidal blitz against an essentially unprotected people.

Many, probably most Jews in Israel and around the world, are bragging about the “heroic” Israeli army and its “achievements” against Hamas. Some Jews have described the slaughter as the “best Hanukah present ever.”

Well, I don’t really see any heroism in using state-of-the-art machines of death, such as the F-16 warplanes, apache helicopters and laser-guided bunker buster bombs against a people who don’t posses an army or an air force or anti-aircraft defenses.
There is no heroism, but sheer cowardice, in launching these deadly bombs at unprotected civilian buildings just as there was no heroism in the targeting of unarmed civilians by the Nazi war machines.

For sure, even the weakest air-force in the world could bomb and destroy unprotected buildings and kill as many civilians as seen fit by morbid minds of Ehud Barak’s ilk.

In short, the Israeli onslaught against a people who don’t possess the means to defend themselves and can’t protect their children from Israeli brutality is an act of sheer cowardice. It can be compared with the Nazi SS strafing Jewish protesters with machine gunfire.

Israel and her mouthpieces in the West claim that Israeli army, a Jewish Wehrmacht by any standard of objective analysis, is merely reacting to Palestinian projectiles fired from Gaza onto Israeli settlements outside Gaza.

Well, this is only a pretext for two many reasons:

The so-called Qassam projectiles are symbolic and nearly innocuous weapons that make more noise than damage. During the past eight years, less than two dozen Israelis were killed by these projectiles. In the meanwhile, thousands of Palestinians, mainly children and other innocent civilians, were annihilated by the indiscriminate Israeli death machine. These are war crimes because even in war, there is proportionality and using excessive force, mainly against civilians, in reaction to minor provocation puts Israel on equal footing with Nazi barbarianism.

There are those who would argue that Israel has the right and duty to defend its citizens. Well, this is not the real issue, because one could argue that even the worst state in the world has the right to defend its citizens.

But Israel has been savaging an entire people by imposing a Nazi-like siege upon them on no other account than to punish them for electing a government that both Israel and her guardian-ally, the United States, didn’t like.

In short, Israel has been effectively telling the Palestinians, in word as well as in deed, that they face two choices: Either to starve to death, or be exterminated by the Israeli war machine. In other words, the Palestinians must die if they resist and die if they don’t. This is while the Israeli hasbara (propaganda) machine keeps telling the world that Israel is only fighting Hamas and defending its citizens.

Well, Hamas may not be completely blameless in a certain sense. However, it is imperative to remind the world that the Islamic movement repeatedly voiced its willingness to stop the firing of “all” projectiles from the Gaza Strip if only Israel would reciprocate and lift the Nazi-like siege.

And as we all know, Israel consistently refused, insisting rather arrogantly that it had the right to kill the Palestinians and invade their territories whenever it deemed fit.

Needless to say, this is exactly the same sort of arrogance, insolence and bellicosity that characterized Nazi behavior.

A few days ago, Israelis analysts described the genocidal onslaught against Gaza as the Israeli version of the American “shock- and –awe bombing” at the beginning of the American invasion and subsequent occupation of Iraq. Shock and awe against a thoroughly tormented and completely savaged people who have been through a hateful blockade, unprecedented in its cruelty and wickedness.

I can’t understand why Jews are behaving the way they are. Do the scenes of havoc and destruction and death in the streets and refugee camps of Gaza give them self-confidence? Do they enjoy watching Palestinian kids mutilated to smithereens by these hellish missiles launched at apartment buildings and homes from high altitude.?

Does it make them feel that they are finally defeating Hitler?

I am asking these questions because I have seen Jews dancing and celebrating rather joyfully the carnage in Gaza. Indeed, a fleeting glance at the Israeli media these days reveals a sick and cannibalistic society that is as bestial as Nazi Germany was during the holocaust.

Perhaps I am doing some injustice to the Germans. After all, the Germans were living under a hateful and tyrannical dictatorship that would have brutally crushed any protests by conscientious citizens.

But, unlike Nazi Germany, Israel claims to be “a light upon the nations,” “the only democracy in the Middle East” and a civilized western nation.

Well, if such is the behavior of “democratic” Israel, just imagine how the Jewish state would behave once the terrorist entity fell in the hands of manifestly fascist forces and parties.

I have repeatedly warned in my writings that Israel is capable of committing a genocide or a holocaust against the Palestinian people and other peoples of the Middle East.

My warnings are not empty propaganda aimed at besmirching Israel’s image. Likewise, they are not motivated by anti-Semitism or hatred for the Jewish people, many of whom I respect and admire.

But the shocking pornographic slaughter in Gaza should be viewed as a clarion vindication of my warnings. Israel simply represents the Nazis of our time.

I know that many people around the world, especially in the West, realize the veracity of the analogy deep in their hearts. But they are afraid to call the spade a spade lest they be tarnished and hounded and harassed by the powerful Jewish media which more or less controls the public discourse in many western nations.

But the timidity of these cowards will not help them. Today, the Palestinians are the victims. But, surely, tomorrow will bring with it more victims, and Europeans and Americans in particular will not be immune.

Their lives may not be under an immediate threat now. But their freedoms certainly are.

Let us remember on this somber occasion the words of Martin Niemoller who lamented the bankruptcy of German intellectuals in the few years preceding the Second World War.

“In Germany, they came first for the Communists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist;

And then they came for the trade unionists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist;

And then they came for the Jews, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew;

And then . . . they came for me . . . And by that time there was no one left to speak up.”

For God’s sake, let us learn from history, because today’s Israel is strikingly similar to 1936’s Germany.

Please, say No to Jewish Nazism before it is too late.

6000 Reservists

The State of Zion has just recalled 6.000 reservists
to join their comrades who were besieging and starving Gaza,
for the last 30 months .

A ground offencive is imminent
and Gaza shall be asked the kneel down
for its oppressor , since 60 years.

Imaging 6000 Israeli-reservists shall spend the new-year-eve
slaughtering children and killing unarmed civilians
instead of spending the evening making a nice party
and drinking cheap-Russian- Champagne .

How long must the State of Zion suffer
the burden of being a ruthless-monster- occupier ??

I am sure Hilary Clinton , Bernard Madoff
and Husny Mubarak ,
are fully supporting those unfortunate 6.000 reservists.

It is far better,nowadays,
to be a suicide-bomber than to be, an unarmed-civilian. ……
while ,facing Israeli-reservist .

The unhumane-right to return a favour

the soldier of inhumanity

The sixty years old oppressor
who is also the 52 years old occupier
and who is the 30 months old besieger
is calling his victims as : “Terrorists”
and is bombing 40 targets in a stroke of land
less than 40 Kilometres long……
and being the world’s most densely populated area.

Mahmoud Abbas is watching
Husny Mubarak is even watching closer
and , as a matter of fact ,
the whole of Arab Regimes are also spectators .

As for the Western Governments , they are only active
when lessons in humanity are to be given to us
and not when inhumanity is at work……against us .

Good night world-conscience !
sleep well if you can….

If ever there will be any survivors in Gaza
do not be surprised if they will ride on …..
an Israeli- bus !!
and only then you may call them Terrorist… .
I shall not !! because they will be “returning the favour”

The Masters of genocide

Anyone who has been caught by surprise by the Israelis vicious assault on Gaza, which has involved destroying a University, targeting hospitals, destroying places of worship, using weapons to cause maximum fatalities and even targeting ambulances, really should not be surprised at all.

It’s actually a re-run of the preplanned genocide committed against the Lebanon in 2006 which also was also justified by false pretences.

Over 80% of the Jewish population of Israel are not biblical Jews , the vast majority are Khazar Jews, they have no historical attachment to the Middle East at all. They are the descendent’s of a barbaric , ruthless tribe which only converted to Judaism in the 8th century.

The are the same vicious, vile people that gave us Communism in the Soviet Union which resulted in the deaths of over 40 million Christians in their gulags, a regime that destroyed tens of thousands of churches, a regime that raped and crucified thousands of priests and nuns, whilst at the same time sparing their synagogues.

They are the same vicious, vile regime that organised and carried out the Ukrainian Holodomor killing another 8 million Christians by starving them to death, in much the same way as they have attempted in Gaza.

They are the same vicious, vile people that run the American Administration, people like Madeline Albright who refused to release UN sanctions on Iraq which deprived the Iraqis of food and medical supplies, which destroyed Iraq infrastructure causing the deaths of 1.5 million Iraqis.

People like Richard Perle who along with other Khazars planned the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq well before the incident on 9/11.

People like Livni of the Apartheid State who believes any amount of Palestinian deaths are justified if it increases her chances of winning the next Israeli election.

Vicious, vile people like Daniel Pipes who spreads his poisonous, racist, propagandist messages to the people of the USA, he wrote in July 2001 “”The Palestinians are a miserable people…and they deserve to be.”

Look in the faces of these and many other Khazar Jews who control Israel, control the USA and have heavily infiltrated certain EU Governments and you will see plain, unadulterated evil.

These people encourage constant reminders about the “Holocaust” and insist that their versions are not questioned, but at the same time they refuse to admit that historically, certainly in the last 100 years, they are the greatest purveyors of genocide the world has ever known.

One Zionist Has Had Enough: Today I end my support of Israel

Like davidminzer, I’m Jewish and descendant of holocaust survivors. Moreover, I’ve been a Zionist all of my life. I went to a Zionist school, I was active in Zionist youth groups. I’ve always been a fervent supporter of Israel as a refuge for Jews around the world who seek a place to exercise their traditions and embrace their identity in peace.

I sang the Israeli anthem in the train rails of Aushwitz-Birkenau and I pledged to fight every day of my life to make sure the savage crimes that had taken place there would never happen again. Every year I pledged: Never Again. Remember and Never forget.

Well, I haven’t forgotten. And so to honor that pledge, to honor the memory of my family members who died in those death camps and because “there comes a time when silence is betrayal”, today I finally and publicly end my support for the state of Israel.

Chilean Jew’s diary:

I do this with great pain in my heart, but nonetheless with the overwhelming conviction that it is the only right thing to do. I was patient: I tolerated the destruction of the Oslo process by refusing to end or slow down the constant and criminal construction of settlements. I held my nose and stood my ground when Barak killed the final status negotiations at Taba 2001. I even remained loyal after Sharon’s massacres in the West Bank, the brutal Annexation wall, the illegal “selective assassinations” and Olmert’s war crimes in Lebanon.

I had to defend Israel and Israelis with my friends and others who demanded I be consistent with my progressive views and oppose a country that was responsible for horrible crimes against innocent human beings. “Israelis are scared, they are traumatized, you have to understand…”, “Israel is responding to attacks on itself, tell me one other country that wouldn’t respond when attacked…”, I demanded understanding, I pleaded for a fair and comparative analysis.

ENOUGH. I’m done justifying crimes against humanity by a country that claims to be an illuminated western democracy. I’m done defending a country that is unwilling to grant self-determination to a neighboring people because it won’t let go of a few settlements and divide a city. I’m done tolerating the slaughtering of innocent kids, the murderous and barbaric occupation of an impoverished people, the utter disregard for human life. F*** them.

If they think their daily peace of mind is worth the lives of hundreds of innocent people, F*** them.

If they think the best way to go right now would be to vote for Natanyahu (who is so far winning in the polls), F*** them.

If they won’t bat an eye before keeping millions without electricity or water, before bombing civilian neighborhoods at exactly the time when kids are leaving schools, before breaking every standard of international law or moral decency, F*** them.

It’s time for every true progressive in this country and around the world to do the only thing that our consciences should allow us to do, the only thing that can keep us consistent with our supposed beliefs that human life is precious and that unnecessary violence is always criminal, barbarous and unacceptable. We must demand that Israel stop violence and immediately put an end to its colonialist military occupation of Palestine.

And until they do so, we must organize and do everything we can to make sure our money is not financing mass murder and oppression.

It is time for the progressive movement to demand immediate Divestment from Israel, just like we divested from other oppressive states like South Africa.

The only reason not to do so is willful hypocrisy. And I don’t know about you, but I’m done being a hypocrite.

Unnecessary murder of innocents is always wrong. Selfish and unjustifiable occupation is always wrong. Inaction in the face of massive suffering and injustice is always wrong. It is thus our responsibility to make sure Obama and the rest of our leaders understand that this time we will be relentless, this time we mean business and this time we will honor our pledges.

NEVER AGAIN! DIVEST NOW!

Peace, Salaam, Shalom

An appeal by the people of the diocese of the Roman Catholics in Bethlehem
Fadi Yacoub , PNN

Bethlehem – The Greek Catholic Church has issued a statement from Bethlehem condemning the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

An appeal to stop the “heinous crimes committed against our people who aspire to freedom and independence” was announced Sunday by the Church of the Virgin Mother of the Roman Catholic parish and council.

“The crimes committed by the Government of Israel have violated all international covenants and conventions regarding humanity.”

The Church also supported calls by parties, including President Abbas, to restore national unity. “All forms of division must end in order to meet the challenges that beset the Palestinian cause as a whole,” the president said.

The Church also called on the United Nations Security Council to take a real stand against the Israelis, in addition to asking that “all the forces of love and peace work to stop the crimes of the occupation.” An appeal was issued to the Patriarch of the Patriarchs and Bishops of the Province who is slated to attend a reception today with the President of the Israeli state, Shimon Peres, to congratulate him on Christmas and New Year’s Day. The Church is demanding instead a boycotting of the reception in an expression of condemnation of “such barbaric crimes.” The Bethlehem Christian council added that they must “stand by the weak and the disadvantaged and bereaved mothers and widows and wounded.”

The appeal was presided over by Bishop Yusef Zariei, Deputy Patriarch of the Roman Catholics in the Holy City of Jerusalem on Sunday morning Mass.

Father Jacob Abu Sa’ada, parish priest and deacon, helped preside. The mass was attended by Bethlehem Mayor Dr. Victor Batarseh, Brigadier General Ismail Faraj, the Director of General Intelligence in the West Bank and a large number of religious officials, civilians and children of the parish.

Bishop Joseph stressed the need to pray for the people of Gaza and for “them to remain resilient in the face of the occupation.” He called for international intervention “to put an end to this difficult situation for parents there.”

Before the mass ended Father George appealed to the world to take urgent action to end the carnage in Gaza. [Source via Media Lens]

Israel’s War Crimes

Below is a round-up of some bloggers who are following events:Why stop now?

  • Gaza: the word you’re looking for is ‘massacre’
  • Gaza massacre continues
  • Gaza: the logic of colonial power: “Unfortunately we have an intractable problem. One side: has all the power, controls almost all the land, controls all the food and medicine, oversees the incarceration of 20% of the world’s refugees, does 80% of the killing. The same side fervently believes they are the victims.”
  • The Qassam rockets myths
  • Wisdom and folly from US, Israeli media on Gaza
  • The true story behind this war is not the one Israel is telling: The sound of Gaza burning should be drowned out by the words of the Israeli writer Larry Derfner. He says: “Israel’s war with Gaza has to be the most one-sided on earth… If the point is to end it, or at least begin to end it, the ball is not in Hamas’s court – it is in ours.”

  • "They are wrong to think we are the terrorists"

Eman Mohammed writing from the occupied Gaza Strip, Live from Palestine, 29 December 2008

A young victim of Israeli shelling. (Eman Mohammed)

Saturday was supposed to be a normal day — at least as close to normal as we are allowed to enjoy in Gaza.

Where else but in Gaza are students killed in air strikes on their classrooms? Where else does a humanitarian disaster unfold not because an earthquake, a volcano, or any other kind of natural disaster struck, but because of governmental policy, and the cooperation of world powers?

From my desk in my university classroom we could see the smoke from Israel’s bombing and hear the most terrifying sound of non-stop explosions. Girls around me screamed in horror and I thought about my camera which I left back at home for fear that rain would damage it. It ended up being a sunny day and I regretted losing the opportunity to take photos, not for fame or for money, but to document what was happening to prove to people outside of Gaza that they are wrong to think we are the terrorists.

Some of my classmates ran out of the university, fearing their lives, but were killed by Israeli missiles as they fled.

When I called my friends abroad to ask them to make sense of what was going on in Gaza, after we were cut off electricity just as the raids began, none of them could give me logical answers.

Meanwhile, the madness continued. Children ran hysterically in the streets as all of Gaza was on fire — literally.

Al-Shifa Hospital was a terrifying scene where body upon body lay on the floor, as there was no more space for the dead in the morgue. I couldn’t bring myself to take a picture. I stared for a very long time at the faces of the martyrs; I was acquainted with some and had worked with others.

One of the injured at the hospital was a little boy heading home from school. Terrified and unable to see due to his injury, the boy was shaking and holding on to anything alive. However, I think holding his hand helped me more than it helped him; I didn’t have the words to comfort him. When doctors were able to attend to the boy, I promised him he would be OK. The next thing I knew, his little weak body, deprived of life, was lying on the hospital’s cold floor. Was his crime being born Palestinian?

As the day drew to a close, I was simultaneously sad, angry, speechless and dumbfounded by what was happening so I went back home. However, the Israeli planes did not and the attacks continued for a second day and are still ongoing.

The second day was more painful than the first since we then understood that this all wasn’t some nightmare. After I woke up, I headed directly to the hospital to document the cruel reality. As the casualties kept mounting — women, children and men alike — it was crystal clear that the whole of the people of Gaza were being targeted.

Those who are reporting the events are not exempt from the bombing and seem to be a special target. Journalists rushed to the scene of an air strike at the Saraya prison compound yesterday, thinking the bombing was all over, but a couple of minutes later another missile hit our location. We escaped with minor injuries but so far hundreds of people in Gaza have not been so lucky.

The Hanukah Massacre on Gaza–Judaism in its Finest Hour

    Source
“When the LORD your God brings you into the land you are to possess and casts out the many peoples living there, you shall then slaughter them all and utterly destroy them…You shall make no agreements with them nor show them any mercy…You shall destroy their altars, break down their images, cut down their groves and burn their graven images with fire. For you are a holy people unto the LORD thy God and He has chosen you to be a special people above all others upon the face of the earth…”

    –Book of Deuteronomy, 7:1-8

The aerial assault on Gaza thus far resulting in several hundred deaths and close to a thousand casualties (much of which will result in even more deaths) must–if it is to be understood correctly–be placed within the historical context of the religious ideas expounded by Judaism since its inception and which today constitute the philosophical lifeblood of the state of Israel.

It is an increasingly popular fad these days amongst those taking the moral high road against Israel’s 60 year-long orgy of violence and bloodshed against the indigenous Semites of Palestine, Lebanon and other surrounding areas to erect a separation wall between “Zionism” as a violent, racist political movement and “Judaism” as a “holy religion” devoted to the worship of God. Such arguments, whether made by groups such as Neturei Karta or “Rabbis For Human Rights” or whoever maintain that the two ideologies are as different from each other as the lion is to the lamb. Some go so far as to refer to Herzl, the founding father of Zionism as a “heretic” who abandoned the “godliness” of Judaism in favor of a secular, Marxist ideology responsible for creating the modern Jewish state.

However, despite some very impressive arguments made by prominent individuals and groups in trying to paint this picture the fact is that the aforementioned argument is as real as any other fantasy created by Jewish Hollywood that defies the laws of reason or reality. Modern day Zionism and Judaism are synonymous, and it has been the fundamental misunderstanding of this fact that has brought the situation to where it is today, both in the Holy Land and in the present “Clash of Civilizations” between the West and the Islamic world.

Judaism is based upon the Old Testament, and in particular, the first five books that constitute “The Law”, referred to as “The Torah”. As many undoubtedly remember from their Sunday school classes, it begins with the story of creation, the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve, Noah’s ark and other seemingly harmless tales of persons and events.

The point at which it transforms into the creature responsible for so much of today’s mayhem is when Abraham, a landless, penniless nomad living in modern day Iraq, begins hearing voices in his head telling him he has been favored by a God named Yahweh who than promises him a future of wealth, land, power and superiority over all other persons, encapsulating this idea with “I will bless those who bless thee and curse those who curse thee”. Shortly thereafter, he again hears voices in his head telling him to engage in the barbarity of human sacrifice by killing his own son Isaac in worshipping this God named Yahweh. With knife at the throat of his son and a mere few seconds away from becoming a murderer, he is then prevented from doing so by an angel, and some 3 generations later, his descendents (made up by 12 tribes) come to be known as “Israelites”.

Not long afterwards an Israelite named Moses also begins hearing voices from this same god, telling him to rescue the Israelites being “oppressed and persecuted” by the Egyptians. After a series of plagues brought against the oppressors–seemingly a fulfillment of Yahweh’s promise to “Curse those who curse” the descendents of Abraham, Moses–again, under the direction of the voices he is hearing–orders the Israelites to steal all the gold and silver of Egypt and to follow him to the land “promised” them by Yahweh residing between the two great rivers, the Nile and the Euphrates. Before entering this land however, Moses instructs the Israelites that they are to kill all the inhabitants, man, woman and child–”infant and suckling” and to rob them of all their possessions. An extermination campaign is mounted, in effect a “holocaust” of the Semitic peoples in the promised land, left unfinished by Moses but taken up again by his protégé Joshua and other subsequent leaders such as Saul and David.

By the time all is said and done, 31 cities inhabited by non-Israelite peoples–including but not limited to the Midianites, Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Jebusites, Hivites–have been completely destroyed. The only non-Israelites allowed to remain alive are young girls “who have never slept with man” who then become concubines for the Israelites as well as those adults who resign themselves to live as “carriers of water and hewers of wood”–in effect, slaves for God’s chosen people.

So in other words, Zionism–the idea that the “Chosen people” were promised the land encompassing modern day Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria and elsewhere and were given the commandment to expel, murder and enslave the peoples and civilizations already there got its start with Abraham and was later put into practice by Moses and those who came after him. By definition then, Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Saul, David and all the other “Patriarchs” (the George Washingtons, Thomas Jeffersons and John Adams of “Israel”) were Zionists.

Putting this into context, any other person or group of persons claiming to have received divine messages from some “higher power” telling them they were superior creatures and commanding them to invade, slaughter, enslave and rob other peoples not like them would–rightly–be branded criminally insane, delusional, fanatical and locked away for life. As it is today though, this situation is not categorized as such. Rather, it has been made into a “holy” religion that guides the actions of a nuclear-armed nation.

As all who understand the situation in Palestine can attest, the moment the Jews made their “exodus” from the various lands they previously inhabited and returned to “redeem and make clean” the Promised land, they have repeated the very same process of killing, expelling and enslaving today’s version of the ancient Midianites, Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Jebusites, Hivites, etc of Moses’ heyday. NOTHING HAS CHANGED. The Jews of today are in effect trying to implement 21st century BC ideas in a 21st century AD world with results no different than what took place as recounted in the Old Testament. It is this history that forms the foundation of their existence as a people and now as a nuclear-armed, messianic nation. The only difference between the Israelites of old and those of today is that when today’s Israelites “smite” the non-Israelite inhabitants living in close proximity to them they do not hack them to pieces with the edge of a sword or an axe but rather blow them to pieces with hellfire missiles, Apache attack helicopters and one-ton bombs made in the USA.

This being the case, it only stands to reason then that massacres such as what took place 2 days after Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ occur. Just as Christians go to church on Sundays and Muslims to mosque on Fridays to commemorate the persons and circumstances of their respective faiths, so too must the Jews engage in the same type of holy war against the non-Israelite peoples living in or near their “promised land” as a means of “keeping the Lord’s day holy”. This genocide against civilians is the glue that holds them together as a people and prevents what is an orgnically-fractured nation nation from disintegrating from within. The fact that this latest massacre took place during the religious festival of Hanukkah, (the festival of lights) where the Jews celebrate the “temple” being rescued and redeemed from the Assyrians over 2,000 years ago lends even more credence to the notion that for them it is all about religion and has nothing to do with the stated justifications of “security”. The fact that the Gazans were starved for months upon months prior to this recent holocaust is yet one more manifestation of this religious mindset, and in particular the commandment to “Cut down the groves” of the non-Israelites living in the promised land.

A recent case (covered by Palestinian journalist Khalid Ameyreh) taking place in Israel just prior to the Gaza massacre adds even more proof to this idea of encompassing “Judaism VS the world”. Said case involves one Daniela Weise, a rabidly anti-Gentile “Israelite” who regularly quotes from the Old Testament, telling hundreds of Jewish fanatics it is a mitzvah (religious commandment) to attack Arabs and murder them because “their lives have no sanctity and their property belongs to us” and adding that “The Bible shows us the way we should be dealing with the Arabs. The Bible can’t be wrong“. In another similar case, an American tourist in Israel recently engaged in a discussion with a Jew where the following exchange took place–

    Israeli Jew–“You are a Christian, aren’t you?”

    American–“Yes”

Israeli Jew–“Do you believe in the Bible?”

    American–“Yes”

Israeli Jew–“Well then, you know God ordered the ancient Israelites to wipe off the goyim (gentiles) from the holy land of Israel. If that was right then, why can’t it be right now?”

As all are told (and have been on a daily basis now for the last century) Israel is not like other nations. Both secular and religious leaders have gone to great lengths in trying to sell the idea that the Jewish state is the “embodiment of God’s word” on earth. As former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir once quipped Israel is “The fulfillment of a promise made by God Himself…It would be ridiculous to ask it to account for its legitimacy.”

What all of this means in the final analysis is that as long as Israel (a nation founded on the Old Testament tales of genocide, rape, pillage, expulsion and enslavement of “the other”) exists, massacres such as the one taking place against the Palestinians in Gaza will be a regular occurrence, just as they have been throughout the last 60 years. Having been nursed on the poisoned milk of tribal supremacism first envisioned by a greedy, covetous, ambitious nomad hearing voices in his head complimenting his own delusions of grandeur and later adopted by the great “Patriarchs” that manifested itself in violence and bloodshed of innocents as extolled in the religion known as Judaism means that the Jewish state MUST engage in these acts as a means of paying homage to the deity Yahweh.

Although 2,000 years too late, it is imperative now more than ever that the world come to grips with these facts, and until it does that “great day of reckoning” commonly referred to as Armageddon will continue to barrel towards civilization like an out-of-control freight train. The curing of any disease begins with isolating the cause, and in the case of the present circumstance involving the Jewish state being at war with the entire world (and more specifically against the Arabs in Palestine) it is the recognition of the “I will bless those who bless thee and curse those who curse thee” mindset coupled with the justification of genocide and enslavement of “the other” that threatens all life on earth.

Anyone needing proof of this should simply visit some of the photos of the most recent massacre taking place against the Palestinians–Christian and Muslim alike–who are and have been sacrificed now for the last 60 years on the altar of twisted Judaistic thinking. This most recent massacre taking place during the Jewish “festival of lights”, where Gaza was “lighted up” with balls of fire after 200,000 lbs of high-explosives were dropped on schoolchildren is proof positive that Israel is not a nation of people devoted to a righteous, loving God, but rather a civilization of vampires making up the caricature of the beast described in the Book of Revelation that threatens all life on earth. And unless the rest of the world comes to this “revelation”, they too will soon find themselves in the same place as those today being exterminated in the interests of appeasing the “God” of the Jews.

Gilad Atzmon – Eine Kleine Nacht Murder: How Israeli Leaders Kill for their People’s Votes

    By Gilad Atzmon

In order to grasp the latest devastating murderous Israeli expedition in Gaza one must deeply comprehend the Israeli identity and its inherent hatred towards anyone who fails to be Jewish and a hatred against Arabs in particular. This hatred is imbued in the Israeli curriculum, it is preached by political leaders and implied by their acts, it is conveyed by cultural figures, even within the so-called ‘Israeli Left’.

I grew up in Israel in the 1970’s people of my generation are nowadays the leaders of the Israeli army, politics, economy, academia and the arts. We were trained to believe that ‘a good Arab is a dead one’. A few weeks before I joined the IDF in the early 1980’s, General Rafael Eitan, the Chief of Staff at the time announced that the “Arabs were stoned cockroaches in a bottle”. He got away with it, he also got away with the murder of many thousands of Lebanese civilians in the 1st Lebanon war. In a word, Israelis manage to get away with murder.

Luckily enough, and for reasons that are still far beyond my comprehension, at a certain stage I woke up out of that Hebraic lethal dream. At one point I left the Jewish state, I evaded the Jewish hate mongering, I had become an opponent of the Jewish state and any other form of Jewish politics. However, I am utterly convinced that it is my primary duty to inform every being that is willing to listen about that which are we up against.

As much as Zionism was there to transform Jews, and by “giving them a State of their own” make them like any other people, it failed miserably. The Israeli barbarism as we have seen this week and too many times before is far beyond bestiality. It is killing for the sake of killing. And it is indiscriminate.

Not many people in the west are aware of the devastating fact that killing Arabs and Palestinians in particular is a very effective Israeli political recipe. The Israelis are indeed confused people. As much as they insist upon seeing themselves as a ‘Shalom seeking’[1][1] nation, they also love to be led by politicians with an astonishing record of unlawful murderous activity. Whether it was Sharon, Rabin, Begin, Shamir or Ben Gurion, Israelis love their ‘democratically elected leaders’ to be belligerent hawks with their hands dripping with blood and backed by a solid record of crimes against humanity.

We are weeks before an election in Israel and as it seems, both Kadima PM candidate Foreign minister Tzipi Livni and Labour PM candidate Defence minister Ehud Barak, are trailing well behind Likud PM candidate the notorious Hawk Benjamin (Bibi) Netanyahu. Livni and Barak need their little war. They must prove to the Israelis that they know how to engage in mass slaughter.

Both Livni and Barak have to provide the Israeli voter with some real exhibition of devastating carnage, so the Israelis can trust their leadership. This is their only chance against Netanyahu. Seemingly, Livni and Barak are throwing tons of bombs on Palestinian civilians, schools and hospitals because this is exactly what the Israelis want to see.

Unfortunately, Israelis are not known for mercy and grace. Instead they are appeased by retaliation and vengeance, they are cheered by their own limitless brutality. When an Ex-Israeli Air Force Chief Commander Dan Halutz was asked how it feels to drop a bomb on a highly populated neighbourhood in Gaza, his answer was short and precise. ‘It feels like a light bump on the right wing’. Dan Halutz’s cold deadly manner was enough to secure his promotion into the IDF Chief of Staff post shortly thereafter. It was General Halutz who led the Israeli army into the second Lebanon war, it was this man who perpetrated the destruction of Lebanese infrastructure and large parts of Beirut.

Seemingly, in Israeli politics, Arab blood is translated into votes. It would obviously be very reasonable to charge Livni, Barak and the current IDF Chief of Staff Ashkenazi with first-degree murder, crimes against humanity and the obvious breach of the Geneva Convention. But it would be far more intelligible to take into account that Israel is a ‘democracy’. Livni, Barak and Ashkenazi are giving the Israeli people that which they want: it is called Arab blood and it must come in vast quantity. This repetitive murderous practice, conducted by Israeli politicians reflects on the Israeli people as a whole rather than just a few politicians and generals. We are dealing here with a barbarian society that is politically driven by bloodthirstiness and lethal inclinations. There should be no mistake, there is no room for these people amongst nations.

Why the Israeli are people so remote from any notion of humanism is a big question. The generous and naïve humanists amongst us may argue that the Shoah left a big scar in the Israeli soul. This may explain why Israelis are obsessively cultivating that very memory with the support of their Diaspora brothers and sisters. The Israelis say ‘never again’ and what they mean is that Auschwitz should never reoccur, this somehow allows them to punish the Palestinian for the crimes committed by the Nazis. The realistic amongst us do not buy this argument anymore. They start now to admit that it is more than possible that the Israelis are so incredibly brutal just because this is how they are. It goes far beyond rationality or pseudo-analytical assumptions. They say, ‘this is what the Israelis are and there is not much we can do about it anymore’. The realistic amongst us come to admit that killing is how the Israelis interpret the meaning of being Jewish. Gravely, many of us come to admit that there is no alternative humanist secular Jewish value system to replace the Hebraic murderous one. The Jewish state is there to prove that Jewish national autonomy is an inhuman concept.

I grew up in post-1967 Israel. I was raised in the wake of the Israeli mythical victory, we were trained to worship the “Israeli who shoots from the hip” the platoon commando who shoots his Uzi automatic rifle in the direction of the Arabs and manages to win against four armies in just six days.

It may have taken me two decades too long to understand that the Israeli who ‘shoots from the hip’, was actually the master of indiscriminate killing. Barak was one of those 1967 heroes, he was a master indiscriminate killer. Apparently, the Israeli cabinet has just approved his plan for the biggest raid on Gaza since 1967. Livni is more or less my age, as we read the news, she internalised the message. She is now accumulating the necessary credentials as an indiscriminate murderer. Both Barak and Livni are taking Israel and Palestine into an election campaign of slaughter. Arab and Palestinian blood is the fuel of Israeli politics.

I may just suggest to Livni and Barak that it may not help them in the polls. Netanyahu is a genuine authentic hawk. He doesn’t have to pretend to be a murderer, and as much as I despise him, he has yet to take Israel into a war. He probably understands better than them what power of deterrence is all about.

    I DEMAND PUNISHMENT

    CONTRIBUTED BY LUCIA FROM SPAIN

Here, they brought their guns filled
With powder and ordered callous extermination,

Here, they found a people singing, a people reunited
    By necessity and love,

And the skinny girl fell with her flag,
And the once-smiling boy rolled wounded to his side
And the dazed town watched the dead fall

    In fury and pain.

    Then, there
    Where the dead fell, murdered,
They lowered their flags and soaked them in blood

To raise them again in the face of their murderers.
For these our dead, I ask for punishment.

For those who spilled blood in our country,
    I ask for punishment.

For the executioner who sent us murder,
    I ask for punishment.

For those who prospered from our slaughter,
    I ask for punishment.

For he who gave the order that caused our agony,
    I ask for punishment.

For those that defended this crime,
    I ask for punishment.

I don’t want them to offer us
Their hands – soaked in our own
    Blood: I want them punished.

I don’t want them as ambassadors,
Or living comfortably in their homes:

I want to see them tried
here in this plaza, here in this place.

    I demand punishment.

    A POEM FOR GAZA

    A Poem for Gaza

    Remi Kanazi: Axis of Logic

    sam_0008.jpg

Photo taken in Gaza City on December 27, 2008 at dawn, just before the massacre started

I never knew death until I saw the bombing of a refugee camp
Craters filled with disfigured ankles and splattered torsos
But no sign of a face, the only impression a fading scream
    I never understood pain
Until a seven-year-old girl clutched my hand
Stared up at me with soft brown eyes, waiting for answers
    But I didn’t have any
I had muted breath and dry pens in my back pocket
That couldn’t fill pages of understanding or resolution

In her other hand she held the key to her grandmother’s house
But I couldn’t unlock the cell that caged her older brothers
They said, we slingshot dreams so the other side will feel our father’s presence
    A craftsman
Built homes in areas where no one was building
And when he fell, he was silent
A .50 caliber bullet tore through his neck shredding his vocal cords
    Too close to the wall
His hammer must have been a weapon
He must have been a weapon
Encroaching on settlement hills and demographics

    So his daughter studies mathematics
    Seven explosions times eight bodies
    Equals four Congressional resolutions
Seven Apache helicopters times eight Palestinian villages
Equals silence and a second Nakba
    Our birthrate minus their birthrate
Equals one sea and 400 villages re-erected
One state plus two peoples…and she can’t stop crying
Never knew revolution or the proper equation
Tears at the paper with her fingertips
    Searching for answers
    But only has teachers
Looks up to the sky and see stars of David demolishing squalor with hellfire missiles

She thinks back words and memories of his last hug before he turned and fell
Now she pumps dirty water from wells, while settlements divide and conquer
And her father’s killer sits beachfront with European vernacular
She thinks back words, while they think backwards
Of obscene notions and indigenous confusion

    This our land!, she said
    She’s seven years old
    This our land!, she said
And she doesn’t need a history book or a schoolroom teacher
She has these walls, this sky, her refugee camp
She doesn’t know the proper equation
But she sees my dry pens
No longer waiting for my answers
Just holding her grandmother’s key…searching for ink

    We "CHOSEN" are untouchable

Because we are “untouchable”: Spain to amend law to avoid trying “CHOSEN” war criminals
    [ 31/01/2009 – 03:03 PM ]

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– The Spanish government has decided to amend the country’s law dealing with prosecuting military commanders involved in war crimes.

Israeli foreign minister Tzipi Livni announced the news following a meeting with her Spanish counterpart Miguel Moratinos after a Spanish court accepted a lawsuit against former Israeli war ministry Benjamin Ben Eliezer and the then head of the air force Dan Halutz on charges against humanity.

The Israeli 2nd TV channel quoted Livni as expressing satisfaction over Moratinos’s decision and informed both Israeli premier Ehud Olmert and justice minister Daniel Friedman on the latest developments in this regard.

She stressed that Israel would continue in its efforts to settle such cases not only in Spain but in the whole world, the TV report said.

Spanish judge Fernando Andreu agreed to look into the case against Ben Eliezer and Halutz along with five other former Israeli officials for ordering the assassination of Hamas commander Salah Shehade that also led to the killing of 14 innocent civilians mostly women and children.

The judge said that the assault on the densely populated Gaza Strip was a “crime against humanity” and the lawsuit was in conformity with the international law that incriminates mass murder in any country.

Shehade was killed in July 2002 in the Israeli air raid that bombed his home using a one ton bomb.

We are Israel. WE ARE UNTOUCHABLE. No matter what we do the international community will not act against us. Oh, there will be talks at the United Nations but we know that the United States will intervene on our behalf. There will be Arab League discussions but we know that no state will take action against us. There will be mass protests and demonstrations; there will be activists and advocates begging for peace; there will be rallies and fundraisers to help the targets of our bombs. And we know that nothing will make a difference because we are Jews – we are victims of the Holocaust. We have suffered such that we have the right to make the rest of the world pay (even though organised Zionism officially declared war on Germany in 1933, long before Hitler’s Final Solution). Because we are victims.

Yes, we know that peoples all over the world have suffered worse crimes than ours, but they were not the Chosen People. We know that over 22 million Russians were killed under Stalin, 15 million Chinese killed by the Japanese, millions elsewhere in the world who suffer the same fate in the bloodiest 20th century.

We know that Zionism is an atheist Marxist creation using Judaism as its weapon; that we were founded upon terrorism and our leaders became Israel’s prime ministers and Nobel Peace Prize winners; that less than 10% of Jews worldwide supported the Zionist cause for decades until WWII.

We know that the crimes committed by Hitler equally affected Communists, gypsies, the handicapped, and political prisoners. That does not matter – we are special. The rest of the world will not touch us because they are terrified of the label “anti-Semite”. World leaders: terrified of this most glorious ad hominem even though we are mostly not Semitic peoples.

Jews of Israel, the Sephardim Jews, were almost non existent when we arrived from Russia, Poland, Austria- Hungary and elsewhere in the 20th century and demanded Arab land. They had spread out and moved on. We did not come from Yemen, Ethiopia or Iraq, but who cares? We are the victims and that is all that counts.

Time and again we wonder at how far American gullibility will take us. We push it to the limits on cable television and get away with it repeatedly. We know that the majority of the world is aware we blatantly lie when we express our “deepest regrets” because “terrorists” were hiding in the villages we destroy. We even have the gall to pick the precise same targets as a decade ago, ignoring the cries of outrage from America and the West. We’ll just repeat the mantra “a tragic mistake”.

Honestly, we too are rather surprised to see that America patiently sits back and buys our words each time.

We have trained our diplomats well, not only in the art of deception to the media, but by using powerful strong arm behind the scenes tactics to mould the views of US Congressmen and women in our favour.

We have worked on this for decades and it has been perfected for the one place it counts: our bank America. We rely upon those weapons; we need to create constant conflict so as to receive a perpetual $13 billion annual aid package from the US, including unsecured loans that we have never been, nor ever will be, required to pay back.

We are living a dream: what we want is given to us on a silver patter because we are Jews, and we have the Holocaust.

The above is only daring in that it is never voiced publicly in the West. The world is watching as Israel incinerates the Lebanese, next the Syrians and Palestinians, then Iran.

Diplomats call for peace, a cease -fire, and negotiations. They speak the language of non committance. It takes a few brave men and women in leadership positions to dare to speak the truth; losing that AIPAC support in government is the kiss of death, and academics who dare write the facts know that their tenured careers are over. Israel is in the position of dominating the US government to an extent never before seen in history, creating a regime who will fully fund a “new Middle East” which in reality means Eretz Israel consisting of Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, northern Saudi Arabia and even Cyprus by some accounts. There is nothing speculative about these plans for hegemony – everything has been laid out, written down, and presented for years.

This war will not end with a cease-fire next week. This war will not end with a security zone controlled by the UN. This war will not end of Hezbollah and Hamas disappeared tomorrow. This war will not end as long as leaders and diplomats continue to fear the trump card charge of anti-Semitism by Israel.

So when hundreds of children are torn apart by uranium tipped missiles provided courtesy of the US government, look in the mirror.

Have you dared to offend Israel? Have you risked? Ask yourself what role you may have played in contributing to this global disaster.

Nothing will change until you do.

    By Khalid Amayreh

(Note: This piece was written before the latest Israeli massacres in Gaza)

There is more than just a whiff of hypocrisy in the way Arab states such as Egypt and Saudi Arabia as well as the American-backed Palestinian Authority (PA) are dealing with the continuing nightmare in the Gaza Strip.
A fleeting examination of recent statements by Egyptian and Saudi officials indicate that the rulers of the two countries are effectively adopting the Israeli stance on the Gaza plight.

For example, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit recently blamed Hamas for the collapse of the Egyptian-mediated tacit ceasefire understanding in Gaza , forgetting the obvious fact that it was Israel , not Hamas, that violated the ceasefire when Israeli forces carried out a deadly foray in Gaza in mid November, killing a number of Palestinian resistance fighters.

Abul Gheit has also been oblivious to the fact that throughout the duration of the ceasefire (June 19-June19-2008), Israel kept up, even intensified, the cruel blockade of the Gaza Strip, pushing desperate Gazans to the edge of physical annihilation.

Egypt, too, we must not forget, knowingly or unknowingly assisted Israel by making sure that the Rafah border crossing remained almost hermetically closed, so that the estimated 1.5 million Gazans would suffer and die both at the hands of Israeli Nazi Nazism and by brotherly Arab love and solidarity.

I can’t really understand why Egypt , the largest and most powerful Arab state, is behaving the way it is.

Egyptian officials present a number of confused and inconsistent arguments to justify the scandalous stand of their government.

They claim that the continued closure of the Rafah crossing was serving Palestinian national interests since opening the crossing would free Israel from its responsibility as an occupying power.

This is a mendacious argument because all that Gazans want is to be able to buy food and consumer products from Egypt for survival.

Occasionally, Egyptian officials defend their cruel treatment of Gazans seeking to get back to Gaza or get out of it for medical treatment by invoking the “international agreement” governing the operation of the border crossing.

According to that infamous agreement, the Rafah border-crossing can only be opened with Israeli consent.

Well, a scandalous agreement as such is not worth maintaining in the first place, since it gives Israel the right to besiege and strangle and starve Gazans to death, very much like the Nazis did at Ghetto Warsaw.

I don’t know if the Egyptian authorities are giving more weight to honoring a brazenly shameful agreement than to the survival of 1.5 million Palestinians who are being subjected to a slow-motion genocide because they dared elect a government that Israel and the Bush administration didn’t like.

Are agreements that effectively place the people of Gaza under the mercy of Israeli whims, cruelty and blood lust worth maintaining? This is a question that the leader of Egypt ought to answer faithfully and honestly.

Last year, Abul Gheit claimed that Egypt was keeping the Rafah crossing closed based on a request to that effect by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.

Well, but the Egyptian leadership should know better than just heeding instructions from a “leader” that is willing to go to any extent in order to appease the occupiers of his country and enemies of his people at the expense of his suffering people and their enduring just cause.

Besides, Israel has been telling the world that it ended its occupation of the Gaza Strip more than three years ago. If so, why is Egypt so reluctant to tell the Zionist regime and its American guardian-ally that Israel can’t have it both ways, keeping Gaza under tight Israeli control and at the same time claim to have ended its occupation of the coastal enclave?

Otherwise, Egypt is allowing itself to be party to the Israeli designs to annihilate the people of Gaza under the rubric of keeping the moribund peace process a live.

More disturbing still is the silence with which Egyptian officials, including Abul Gheit, met the insolent remarks made by visiting Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni in Cairo on Thursday, 25 December.

Livni, the racist woman who earlier this month called for the expulsion of Israeli non-Jewish citizens to a prospective Palestinian entity on the West Bank , made a series of arrogant threats to destroy Hamas and end its rule in the Gaza Strip.

Well, since when are such Judeo-Nazi leaders allowed to speak in this tone in the capital of the largest Arab state, the home of al-Azhar, without any retort by Egyptian leaders and spokesmen.?

Is Egypt completely impotent, sterile, dead?

And now to the ruling Saudi dynasty?

It is really shameful that while the rulers of the desert Kingdom are currying favor with Zionist Jews, especially by organizing “inter-religious conferences” in Europe and North America , they are being so harsh on the Palestinians by demanding that they give up the bulk of their legitimate rights to freedom and liberation from the claws of Israeli Nazism.

Well, the Saudi rulers are well-advised to keep their mouths shut. If they want to continue their promiscuous relationship with Israel and her Zionist agents, that is their business. But they must stop telling us to give up the right of return. For us Palestinians, the right of return is as sacred as the Makka and Madina

If the Saudis are interested in obtaining a certificate of good conduct from Zionist Jews, then this shouldn’t be at the expense of the Palestinian people and their inalienable right.

I want to dedicate to the Gazans, in solidarity, a fragment of a poem that Neruda wrote for us. (He then lived in Madrid and was a witness).

Its title is “I’m explaining a few things”

(…) And one morning all that was burning,

    one morning the bonfires
    leapt out of the earth

    devouring human beings-

    and from then on fire,

    gunpowder from then on,

    and from then on blood.

    Bandits with planes and Moors,

    bandits with finger-rings and duchesses,

bandits with black frairs spattering blessings

came through the sky to kill children

and the blood of children ran through the streets

    without fuss, like children’s blood.

Jackals that the jackals would despise,

stones that the dry thistle would bite on and spit out,

vipers that the vipers would abominate!

Face to face with you I have seen the blood

of Spain tower like a tide

to drown you in one wave

    of pride and knives!

    Treacherous

    generals:

    see my dead house,

    look at broken Spain;

from every house burning metal flows

    instead of flowers,

    from every socket of Spain
    Spain emerges

and from every dead child a rifle with eyes,

and from every crime bullets are born

    which will one day find

the bull’s eye of your hearts.

And you’ll ask: why doesn’t his poetry

    speak of dreams and leaves

and the great volcanoes of his native land?

Come and see the blood in the streets.

    Come and see

    The blood in the streets.

    Come and see the blood
    In the streets!

Livni: We Won’t Allow Hamastan in Gaza

23/12/2008 Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has invited Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni to discuss escalating violence between Israel and Gaza resistance fighters in a rare visit to Cairo on Thursday.

The invitation was personally extended to Livni on Sunday by her Egyptian counterpart, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, in a telephone conversation. Livni is also set discuss with Mubarak ongoing Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.

The visit will be an exception one, since Mubarak usually meets with Israeli officials at the Sinai resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh, and not in the Egyptian capital.

As such, the move is likely to be seen as an endorsement by Mubarak of Livni, who is seeking to lead her Kadima party to electoral victory in February’s general election.

The invitation to Livni, and not to Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, is certain to spark speculation that this represented an indirect Egyptian endorsement of Livni in the upcoming elections. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert reportedly approved the trip.

Livni is expected to present Tel Aviv’s current stance, which holds that enough is enough – and that Israel is duty-bound to protect its settlers from the incessant rocket and mortar fire from Gaza.

“We will not allow the prolonged existence of a Hamastan state in Gaza,” Livni said during a Kadima security convention in preparation for her visit to Egypt.

“We need to retrieve the power of deterrence. Every decision made about Gaza needs to come from an empowered stance,” she added. “The objective is Hamas. Hamas is responsible for everything that happens in Gaza, politically and economically. Israel has no interest in harming innocent civilians, but it must respond,” she claimed.

Livni stressed that “Kadima’s policy for the long run is to destroy Hamas and by then – to retrieve the IDF’s power of deterrence and protect the residents.”

In her meeting with the Egyptian president Livni will discuss the over 300 Palestinian rockets fired from Gaza into the occupied territories since November, when the lull agreed upon between the two sides was fractured.

MP Odwan: Egypt bound by law to open Rafah crossing

    [ 23/12/2008 – 04:23 PM ]

GAZA, (PIC)– Hamas MP Dr. Atef Odwan has underlined that the Camp David agreement and the Rafah border agreement of 2005 did not prohibit Egypt from opening the Rafah border crossing.

Odwan told Quds press that Egypt’s continued closure of the crossing makes it an accomplice to the siege on the Strip and Egypt has to open the terminal to prove the contrary.

He said that even if Egypt was bound by the Camp David and Rafah agreements it should abide by the international laws that supersede any local law or bilateral agreements. He explained that the international law prohibits endangering lives of an entire community.

There are also the humanitarian laws that dictate on Egypt and others to extend whatever is necessary to a community that is under siege, Odwan pointed out.

Barhoum: The IOF air raids mass execution of Gaza inhabitants

    [ 27/12/2008 – 02:41 PM ]

GAZA, (PIC)– Hamas on Saturday charged that the Israeli occupation forces’ carnage in the Gaza Strip was made with the green light of regional parties and constituted a mass execution of the Gaza people.

Barhoum, in a statement, pointed out that the raids came 24 hours after Israeli foreign minister Tzipi Livni’s visit to Cairo where it met with the Egyptian president and senior officials then talked in a press conference about toppling Hamas’s rule in Gaza.

He said that such a massacre was possible thanks to Arab silence, European collusion and American support for Israeli occupation.

“This bloody day was never witnessed before in the Gaza Strip”, Barhoum underlined, adding that 150 martyrs fell in less than half an hour while 200 others were injured.

He finally asked the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, to strongly retaliate to the IOF aggression and to use all means available to defend the Palestinian people.

Jihad: Official Arab silence toward aggression unjustified

    [ 27/12/2008 – 02:26 PM ]

GAZA, (PIC)– The Islamic Jihad Movement on Saturday lashed out at the official Arab silence vis-à-vis the Israeli occupation forces’ crimes in the Gaza Strip, describing it as “unjustified”.

The movement in a statement said that killing innocents and declaring war in such a manner and voicing threats from the heart of an Arab country against the Palestinian people should not pass unnoticed.

The “Israeli enemy” has launched a “rabid” war on the Palestinians killing dozens with the collusion of many parties with the aim of exterminating resistance, Jihad charged.

It asserted that resistance would not stop in face of those crimes but would rather escalate, and added that scenes of murder and devastation “would not lead us to despair even if we remained alone in the battle”.

Islamic Jihad asked the Arab and Islamic masses to hit the streets in support of the Palestinian people and resistance.

The rains of death in Gaza

We woke up this morning to the news in Gaza. It seems we always wake up to news there- so its become a matter of perspective how bad the news is each time; how remote it seems each time; how real or not; how severe-and whether the severity warrants an “international outcry” or whether the animals can continue to fester in their cages for a while longer.

We received a call from my in-laws in Lebanon at an early hour, checking in on my family in Gaza, since they cannot call them directly. We call my parents. My father does not answer. We call his mobile- we reach him. He has just returned from Shifa hospital- we hold our breaths.

“We are OK. We went to donate blood and to see if they needed any help” says my father, a retired surgeon.

“We were in the souk when the strikes began- I saw the missiles falling and prayed; the earth shook; the smoke rose; the ambulances screamed” he said, the sirens audible in the background.

My parents live in the the city center, and the Israeli war planes attacked people and locations all around their house, walking distance in fact. Over 50 “targets”by 60 warplanes. And nearly 200 Palestinians. Like a game, if you say it enough times, it does not sound real anymore. 50 targets, 60 warplanes, 200 people. Very sanitary.

“There is a funeral passing every minute. The bodies are piling up.” Gaza’s air is satured with the acrid smell of burning human flesh. There is panic, as one would imagine dogs would panic in an overcrowded sell when several of their own are violently, abruptly killed. But that would create an outcry.

The rains of death continue in Gaza.

And it will all seem, in the end of the day, that they are somehow a response to rocket attacks. As though the situation were not only acceptable- but normal, in the absence of such attacks. The warden improves the living conditions now and then, in varying degrees of relatively, but the prison doors remain sealed. And so when there are 20 hours of power outages in a row, the prisoners wish that they were only 8; or 10; and dream of the days of 4.
