US should know ‘Resistance’ now controls all of West Asia: Naqqash

from Middle East Observer

Description:

Senior Lebanese political analyst Anees Naqqash says that the United States should know that the ‘Resistance Axis’ is the one that now controls the entire West Asia region, and that Washington is in no position to impose conditions on Lebanon (such as closing the Lebanese-Syrian border) in return for easing its economic pressure on the country.

Naqqash, who is closely-linked to Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement, is a prominent fixture on Lebanese and Arab television, especially on channels affiliated with the so-called ‘Resistance Axis’.

The ‘Resistance Axis’ broadly refers to a strategic anti-Israel/anti-US imperialist alliance composed of, but not limited to, Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, Iraq’s Hashed al-Shaabi, Yemen’s Ansarullah, and various Palestinian armed factions.

Naqqash:

Not all Lebanese are united against American imperialism. There are some (Lebanese) intellectuals, politicians and journalists who serve America more than it ever asks them to. We read (their writings), we follow them, we hear their statements, and we marvel at their enthusiasm for America, as if they had not learnt any lessons from history. Now is this issue over, as the ambassador – the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – claimed? I do not think so. We are only at the starting line. The American attack on Lebanon did not begin with the (current economic) sanctions, it started in 1948 when (the US) supported the (Israeli) Zionist entity and incited it to wage wars against Arab countries. We will never forget that, and our peoples should never forget either. America is the enemy of the peoples of the region and the main supporter of Israel. This is one.

Regarding Lebanon in particular, (the US) harmed Lebanon more than once. With great hypocrisy, it claims to be Lebanon’s friend, but has always demanded that Israel stays stronger than Lebanon, that Israel despises and strikes Lebanon. In the July war (in 2006), it was very clear that the war was at the request of Dick Cheney, the American (vice president at the time). Israel was thus implementing an American decision. This is another thing that our people should not forget. Today, (the US) and Israel cannot eliminate the resistance (Hezbollah) through war. Therefore, they resorted to striking the social, economic and political environment in Lebanon through economic blockade. They are being delusional. They will not achieve their goal. They hope that people supporting the resistance will turn against it.

Now, the proactive response to the results (Americans) dream of came from Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and I think this is what provoked the (US) ambassador (in Lebanon). This statement was orchestrated by the US State Department, not the ambassador. The proof is that Pompeo said his piece as well.  Sayyed Nasrallah’s statement was strongly worded, highly threatening, full of high expectations and highly strategic. He said, at the beginning, and promised his people that we have plans to get through this economic blockade and our people will not go hungry. Then, he went on to talk about the end of the American-Israeli goals from this starvation and this blockade and said “we will kill you. You want to prevent us from destroying Israel and prevent us from fighting you and killing you, we assure you…” He (Sayyed Nasrallah) said it three times: “We will kill you. We will kill you. We will kill you”. This (repetition) means that we will win the economic battle and the battle that you (Israel) want to avoid, i.e. the military battle. The time when these plans will be unveiled and the big clash will break out, is determined by the Axis of Resistance and objective circumstances.

But surely our people will not go hungry. Our allies are strong. We heard a statement from Russia and China condemning the statements of the United States and its ambassador (in Lebanon). These two great powers confirmed that they stand by Lebanon and condemn these American statements.

——–

Naqqash:

I want to get back to the issue of exaggeration regarding the food crisis. I do not think that the people who were willing to sacrifice their lives when they were under fire, who lost their homes and livelihoods in the July war (2006), would be brought down with bread and butter. This is impossible.

We launched the slogan “plant a garden” at the beginning of the crisis, before it worsened. Today there are thousands of hectares and thousands of gardens. Our people will not starve. We are prepared for this long-running battle. There are friendly countries that will lend us a helping hand. As we saw Iran helped Venezuela and broke a much more important and much larger blockade than the blockade imposed on Lebanon, since Lebanon is much smaller than Venezuela.

The most important thing is that Lebanon is not subject to sanctions alone. Syria is subject to sanctions, undermining peace and security in Iraq and besieging the country in several ways are also types of sanctions, Iran has sanctions, China is threatened with sanctions and a trade war, Russia is subject to sanctions. So we are facing a world war launched by the United States under the title of “economic sanctions” on more than one country. Therefore, these countries must find ways to work together.

Two weeks ago, a delegation went to Syria and left last week after signing an agreement to extend a line of credit from Iran in order to provide Syria with several products and raw materials. Yesterday, President Putin also ordered the Russian army to use all its economic, cultural and media means to help Syria stand on its own feet. We are not alone.

The United States is playing its final cards and it will fail, especially as it faces its own economic crisis. The US is threatened by civil war more than Lebanon is threatened by any local violent actions. I am certain of that. We are in the midst of a conflict that will end in our favor, just as we planned and prepared. We assure our people, as we have always done, that victory will be ours. We would never promise to take any steps if we were not prepared for such a challenge.

Video transcript section:

Naqqash:

(As for the US demand that Lebanon) close its borders with Syria, this means opening up the borders with Israel because Lebanon only borders Syria and the (Mediterranean) sea. When someone asks (us/the Lebanese) to close the borders with Syria, they will not only be asking us to seal the borders with a neighboring and friendly country, but with all countries beyond Syria, like Iraq, Jordan and other Arab countries.

We need to export (goods) now more than ever. We need to work with neighboring countries because we can use our local currency (in regional trade) and achieve economic integration. The US is overtly demanding that Lebanon commit a greater economic suicide (by closing its borders with Syria). However, this will not happen because our people are in control. America should know that our people (the Resistance Axis) are not only in control of the borders with Syria, we are in control of all of West Asia. This is what America should understand.

The US State Department is creating a smokescreen. If the (US State Department) consults the Pentagon (regarding this policy), the Pentagon will tell it that you will not able to pursue this policy if a war erupted or if all resistance forces moved (into action) using their full power. What are they threatening us with? They (Americans) are using the last method (card) they have, only to please Israel and some of the Arabs who are struggling for power. The US wants to show them that it is still taking action, but they are losing this battle. Closing (Lebanon’s) borders (with Syria) is a myth (i.e. an impossibility). We threaten them not only with opening up the borders (with Syria), but with abolishing them completely if we decide to do so today. There is no force on the face of the earth, no Lebanese, Arab or foreign force that can prevent us from abolishing the borders if we decide to. They (Americans) know this fact.

As for economic integration, this region is rich in resources, and some major countries are ready to help. The country (Iran) who sent seven oil tankers accompanied by a giant tanker carrying foodstuffs to open (its) first commercial center in Venezuela, (can do that again in Lebanon).

Hezbollah-linked Analyst on reality of Russia’s alliance with Iran/Hezbollah – English Subs

Here’s our first video translation after YouTube terminated our channel:

Description:

Senior political analyst Anees Naqqash, who has very close ties to Hezbollah and enjoys an authoritative status on various Lebanese, Syrian and Arab media outlets, was asked in a recent interview on Lebanese television: how can Iran & the ‘Resistance Axis’ be strategically allied to Russia while Moscow’s officials repeatedly announce their commitment to Israel’s security?

The ‘Resistance Axis’ here broadly refers to a strategic anti-Israel/anti-US imperialism alliance composed of, but not limited to, Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, Iraq’s Hashed al-Shaabi, Yemen’s Ansarullah, and various Palestinian armed factions.

Host:

However there is something that remains unclear till now, and that is the Russian-Iranian relationship. I’d like you to shed some light on this, and to clarify some ambiguities if they exist. How do you describe the relationship between Iran and Russia and its continuation in the region, especially in Syria?

Naqqash:

This ambiguity that can be seen is a media plan. Meaning that there is a ‘media kitchen’ whose aim is to portray as if there are contradictions, in order to undo this alliance. We can see that some of the political objectives of some Americans is to undo the Chinese-Russian alliance. Some (Americans) such as Trump, say that we must get closer to Russia in order to isolate China, while others say we must work with China to isolate Russia.

In this region here, some (Americans) believe that the Russian-Iranian alliance is a great threat, firstly because it brought a power – that is an adversary of the United States – to the Middle East region. Secondly, because (this alliance) strengthened the Resistance Axis – without (Russia) becoming a (formal) part of the Resistance Axis. The Resistance Axis became stronger because it now had air cover, air defence, (greater) intelligence (data), coordination e.t.c. According to (reliable) information, the ones who brought the Russians to the region – to Syria – were the Iranians, and not the other way around. (The Iranians) brought them, meaning they convinced them to come – ‘brought’ is probably not a nice word – what convinced them to come is the following, and these are the words of Jalili to President Putin – (Saeed) Jalili was the head of (the Supreme) National Security (Council):

‘The main weak point of the United States in the world is the Middle East region, and we are able to weaken it to a greater extent if we were to cooperate, because we have clear evidence that demonstrates how we have already weakened the United States (in the Middle East)’. This is the specific point that ‘clicked’ for President Putin, and so he took the decision at that time to come to Syria, after he took guarantees that the Resistance (Axis) is the one that will work on the ground, while (Putin) is to take care of the air power.

The second point which convinced (Putin) of this alliance is the issue of terrorism. This terrorism is not limited to Syria or Iraq, but rather, could (even) reach the Fergana Valley: the border region between Afghanistan and Russia (i.e. the Soviet Union), and it is well known that Chechnya was ablaze before President Putin came and ended this armed rebellion, you also have Tatarstan, Dagestan, and 7-8 Muslim republics in the Russian Federation, the British, American, and Saudi intelligence work day and night on (these republics) in order to ignite this region. Hence there is an interest (to fight terrorism), and so President Putin had said on many occasions that ‘we are fighting them in Syria so that they do not come to us’. This issue even extended to China, with the Uyghurs and the separatist threat, and today (China) has a problem, money is being pumped (into this region), and you have 4,000 Uyghurs who came to fight in Syria, I don’t know who brought them here from China and trained them…

Therefore these (Iranian-Russian) understandings are strategic. As for geopolitics, today the Chinese-Russian-Iranian understanding regarding Afghanistan, which is the heart of Central Asia, and which forms an intersection for more than one border and state, (this understanding) is in place and continues very strongly. Meaning that the Russian-Iranian strategic understanding does not stop at the Syrian file, but rather extends to international (geopolitical) equations related to confronting the United States’ influence, and relates to the safeguarding of the security of Russia and China. If you are protecting a state’s internal security, this is very important for such (major) states. For this reason (Russia) is a strategic ally in more than one way. Now in Syria on the ground, if you have differences like whether to start with Idlib first as opposed to Deir az-Zour, or should we suffice ourselves with (this or that)…all this goes back to the varying perspectives of both (Iran and Russia).

Iran is a first-degree regional power, which views (things) as a regional power, and Russia is a global power that views (things) as a global power. For this reason, the Iranians cannot say ‘I can attract the Turks 100% to my axis’, because there is a certain balance (of power) between the Turks and the Iranians. The Russians can dream, work on, and achieve this result, in the sense that they have the ability to pull the Turks out of NATO and bring it into the Shanghai (Organisation). The Iranians are unable to do this…and this (sometimes) causes a difference – to some extent – between Russian and Iranian tactics. With regards to Israel, the Russians are not with the liberation of Palestine in the sense that we talk about. However, (Russia) is not against the ‘Resistance Axis’ being strong (and capable) of confronting Israel, and the Israeli army, which is an American and Western tool, all its weapons are Western-made, when Russian weapons are victorious over Western weapons – we saw how the Kornet (anti-tank missile) began to be sold throughout the world, we saw how Saudi Arabia and the Emirates are buying today the S-400 and how everyone is rushing towards Russian weapons – all this is because of the manifestation (of the effectiveness) of Russian weapons in the region, beginning with the resistance Hezbollah, and ending with the (direct) Russian presence in the (Middle East).

Host:

But sorry…Russia, according to the words of prominent (Russian) officials, has pledged to safeguard the security of Israel. How does Iran reconcile between its strong alliance or partnership with Russia who in turn pledges to safeguard Israel’s security? And the Russians have said this and announce it every day. The Russians say we are committed to Israel’s security. It is as if the (Russians) reached an agreement with the Americans, telling the (Americans) ‘not to worry, you could leave Syria, leave the security of Israel to us. You don’t talk to Iran and (Hezbollah), but we’ll talk to them, you guys don’t worry’….

——————–

A commitment to the security of Israel, is different to defending Israel. The United States says ‘we are committed to ensuring that Israel remains stronger than all Arab states, and we are committed to its security and defending it’. Russia does not (tell Israel) I am committed to defending you, because (Russia) acts within international law. Any state that respects international law and is a member of (the UN) – Israel is a recognised member (of this body) and hence (Russia) says that it abides by this. Meaning that (Russia) does not (officially support) a full-scale regional war. (However) is (Russia) able to prevent the Resistance Axis or Syria from taking a decision to retake the Golan (Heights)? No he is not, because this also falls under international law.

Host:

So why did (the Russians) move Iran and Hezbollah away from southern Syria?

Naqqash:

I take you back to President Putin’s statement that ‘we must go back to the ceasefire agreement, and to remind (all sides) that the Golan (Heights) is occupied land’. (Putin) did not forget to say this last part. Whether (the Russians) moved the Iranians away from the Golan (Heights) or brought them closer to it, these are really just details. Why are they just details? Let me tell you what the Israelis (themselves) say today, after Netanyahu got all happy, the Israelis today say that: ‘we now have intelligence that (the Iranians & Hezbollah) took off their military uniforms and put on Syrian army uniforms’.

Host:

Oh okay, I get it.

Naqqash:

The (Israelis) are saying this, not me. Secondly, (it is a fact) that the Resistance Axis is present in Syria, and that it has committed itself – in an official Iranian-Syrian agreement – to rebuilding the Syrian Armed Forces to the highest level, such that it can thwart all dangers. What does this mean? It means we wish to make the Syrian army stronger than what it was, and we want it to have a missile capability – what kind of missile capability? If Israel is afraid of the Lebanese missile capability (of Hezbollah), what about if this same capability was also now present in Syria? Despite the fact that – and I don’t hide things from our people, things that the Israelis already know – that 90% of the missiles in Lebanon are Syrian-made, or come via Syrian capabilities, so if (the Syrians) are giving me, does that mean they don’t have (such missiles)?

Host:

Are they Syrian-made or Iranian-made in Syria?

Naqqash:

No no, today technology can be transferred, just like when you get the ‘under license’ right you can manufacture yourself.

Host:

Franchise..

Naqqash:

Yes franchise, or through cooperation, sometimes you have experience in something and I have experience in something – they are openly cooperating, (Iran & Syria) made an agreement, they officially signed it between the two states, with the aim of building up the Syrian Armed Forces.

So today Israel’s problem is that you have a Resistance Axis whose presence has extended, between Syria and Lebanon, and so things have now changed. Where do the Russians stand regarding these developments? Will they tell (President) Assad you are not allowed to arm yourself, or you are not allowed to retake the Golan (Heights), or that you must become weaker?

Ofcourse, if some think that the Resistance Axis was going to come and place the flag of Hezbollah in Dara’a or on the Syrian borders with the Zionist entity, this would be considered as a type of incitement for the international community…yet who will prevent a Syrian decision today to militarily take back the Golan (Heights)? International law allows them to do this, international law! And Russia allows (the Syrians) to do this and (in fact) wish they actually do (retake it). And the Resistance Axis does not want from Syria anything more than this. The issue of the liberation of Palestine will be pursued by the Resistance Axis via other contexts.

Therefore, there are no real (Iran-Russia) contradictions…to the contrary, coordination, especially between the Russian forces and Hezbollah, is at its highest level. And the Russians are greatly impressed by Hezbollah’s fighters, as resistance fighters who fought in 50-degree Celsius temperatures in the (Syrian) deserts, and they fought in -14 degree Celsius temperatures during the snowstorms in the mountaintops. This all occurred under the eyes of the Russians, who saw (Hezbollah’s) coordination abilities, and (Hezbollah’s) ability to move not only small groups of guerrilla forces but also an entire ground force brigade.

When Sayyed Hassan (Nasrallah) said that they brought him the news that ‘we liberated a (Syrian) land mass five times the size of Lebanon’, it is true, (Nasrallah) said he was abit surprised at this news, but it is true, 50,000 square kilometres, (Hezbollah) was able to liberate and take control of this whole land area.

Host:

That’s right, using armoured and tactical brigades and…

Naqqash:

Yes all types of forces – thus huge, fundamental transformations have occurred.
For this reason when I say today (Nasrallah commands) half a million (trained) fighters (within the Resistance Axis), I am not exaggerating, and (the resistance enjoys) tactical, command, and operational capabilities much greater than what they were during the 2006 (war). For this reason (Nasrallah) said that we have 40 (military) regions in Lebanon today, just one of these regions contains within it more capabilities than the entire capabilities of (Hezbollah) in the year 2000. Thus there are very great transformations occurring in the balance of power.

(Video): How British Empire & America gave rise to Kings of Saudi Arabia – English subtitles

Description:

Senior Arab political analyst and writer Anees Naqqash recounts how the British Empire played a decisive role in the creation and regional rise of the modern state of Saudi Arabia, and how the Americans later provided protection in exchange for control over Saudi oil.

According to Naqqash, who is a prominent feature on Lebanese and Arab media, the Saudi royal family has for decades been used by the British and Americans due to their political and economic expediency.

Naqqash was speaking at an event promoting his new book ‘A look at the course of future transformations to the Gulf’.

Israeli Media: Sayyed Nasrallah in “Good Mood, Enjoys Good Sense of Humor”

Sayyed Nasrallah

 January 27, 2019

Israeli media was on Saturday following Hezbollah’s Secretary General, Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah’s interview with Al-Mayadaeen with high attention.

The long-awaited appearance of Sayyed Nasrallah broke more than two months of media silence in a three-hour interview with journalist Ghassan Bin Jiddo.

Israeli TV channels offered live broadcast of the interview, as Israeli analysts sat to discuss Sayyed Nasrallah’s remarks shortly after the interview was finalized.

“We are watching the live stream of the interview and we can see that the interview is not recorded in a deliberate move,” Rawi’i Qaiss, KAN News’ editor of Arabic affairs said, as reported by Al-Mayadeen on Sunday.

“Nasrallah started the interview by denying rumors on his health condition. He is launching his usual physiological war,” Qaiss added.

“Nasrallah talked about Israeli intelligence failure, and throughout the interview he repeated that Netanyahu and Eizenkot were lying on the Israelis,” Israeli commentator, Ehud Yaari, said in remarks on Israeli 12 channel, referring to Israeli PM and ex-chief of staff.

“Furthermore, Nasrallah appeared to be in a good mood and having a good sense of humor,” Yaari added.

During Saturday’s interview, Sayyed Nasrallah, and as usual, included his remarks with some jokes. Even when he talked about the resistance capabilities, in what is seen as threats to Israelis, Sayyed Nasrallah said a joke.

“It’s in the Israelis’ interest that Hezbollah possesses precision missiles so that only military targets will be hit and not civilians,” Sayyed Nasrallah addressed the Israelis with a smile.

Gazans cut through Egypt’s border barrier

Image: Palestinians cross the Rafah border into Egypt.

Some 80% of imports into Gaza come through the tunnels, the UN says

By Jon Donnison
BBC News, Gaza

“Every problem has a solution. The Egyptian steel barrier was a problem but we found a solution,” says Mohammed, a grimy-faced Gazan tunnel digger who didn’t want to give his real name.

Mohammed, covered in dust and dirt, is in the process of digging a 750m (2,460ft) smuggling tunnel from Gaza into Egypt. He says he’s been digging it for 18 months.

As he hauls up a plastic container of sand with an electric winch from the metre-wide tunnel shaft, he says the new underground Egyptian barrier aimed at stopping smuggling is a “joke.”

“We just cut through it using high-powered oxygen fuelled blow torches,” he says.

The Egyptian government says it began constructing the barrier along the Gaza-Egypt border last year. When finished it is meant to be 11km-long (seven miles), stretching down 18m (59ft) underground.
According to Egypt it is made of bomb-proof, super-strength steel and is costing millions of dollars to build.

‘Embarrassing’

Mohammed smiles when he hears this.

“We pay around a $1,000 (£665) for a man with an oxygen-fuelled cutter to come and break through it. It takes up to three weeks to cut through but we get there in the end,” he says.

If they [Egypt] opened the border, we wouldn’t need to dig tunnels. But until they do, we’ll keep digging, whatever they do to try and stop us
Mohammed, tunnel digger

Mohammed says the steel barrier is 5-10cm (2-4in) thick.

The BBC spoke to one man in Gaza employed to cut through the barrier. He said he could cut a metre-square hole through it in less than a day.

This news will be embarrassing for Egypt’s government.

Encouraged by the United States which gives millions of dollars in military aid to Egypt every year, it says it is trying to crack down on smuggling into Gaza.

The BBC asked the Egyptian government to comment on the fact that Gazans were already cutting through the barrier. The government has not yet responded.

Sheep and shampoo

The Palestinian territory has been under a tightened Israeli and Egyptian economic blockade since 2007 when the Hamas Islamist movement took over the territory.

The blockade was enforced to put pressure on Hamas and to stop weapons being smuggled in.

Lorries wait to load goods from the tent-covered smuggling tunnels in Rafah. Photo: April 2010

Little attempt is made to keep the tunnels secret

Egypt’s secular government is opposed to Hamas, which has historical ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, the main opposition movement in Egypt which is illegal but largely tolerated.

Many Gazans are angry with the Egyptian government, which – they say – is increasing their suffering.
The blockade has meant that Gaza is to a great extent dependent on the smuggling tunnels from Egypt. Millions of dollars worth of goods are smuggled in every month.

Everything from fridges to fans, sheep to shampoo comes through the tunnels. The BBC even obtained video footage this year of whole brand-new cars being dragged through tunnels from Egypt.
The UN estimates that as much as 80% of imports into Gaza come through the tunnels.
Big business

The tunnels are not at all hard to find. In the southern Gazan town of Rafah, right on the border, there are lines of them covered by white tents.

map

<>Little attempt is made to keep them secret. They are surrounded by huge mounds of sandy earth which have been dug out of the ground.

The air is thick with diesel fuel from the trucks that transport the goods across the Gaza strip.
The openness of the smuggling operation suggests that if Israel and Egypt really wanted to stop the tunnels they could easily do so.

Israel has at times bombed some of the tunnels, but has stopped short of totally shutting them down.
Aid agencies in Gaza say that if Israel or Egypt really forced the smuggling to stop, it would lead to an even more desperate humanitarian situation in Gaza which would be damaging to Israel’s and Egypt’s international reputations.

Diplomats in the region also believe that so much money is being made in Egypt from the trade through the tunnels that much of the smuggling is likely to continue.

But the head of operations in Gaza for the UN relief agency Unrwa, John Ging, says that ordinary people in Gaza are losing out.

“Everything is expensive because people are hostage to the dynamics of a black market.”

Mr Ging stressed that it was the Israeli-Egyptian blockade that was allowing that black market to thrive.
The UN does not use illegal goods and building materials smuggled in through from Egypt.

If the blockade remains in place it seems the tunnel industry will continue to thrive, underground steel barrier or not.

“If they opened the border, we wouldn’t need to dig tunnels,” says Mohammed peering into the shaft of his tunnel in Rafah. “But until they do, we’ll keep digging, whatever they do to try and stop us.”
“Every problem has a solution,” he smiles.

Battlefield Sources Warn US against Any Military Intervention in Southern Syria

May 9, 2017

US Military Movements near southern border of Syria

Well-informed sources in Syria stressed that Damascus and allies are thoroughly monitoring the US-British-Jordanian military movements on the Syrian border, considering that what is going on is a suspicious maneuver.

The sources, in a statement, added that the maneuver aims at covering up a military action being prepared to invade Syria under the pretext of fighting ISIL terrorist group which does not have a considerable deployment in the southern province of Daraa.

The statement warned the US troops that they would pay heavy prices if they violate Syria sovereignty.

Leaked photos reveal US military entered southern Syria to train rebels: opposition media

BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:25 P.M.) – U.S. military personnel entered southern Syria at the Tanf Border-Crossing and has begun training units from the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in this desert area, the opposition media page Hammurabi’s Justice News reported today.According to this opposition page, the U.S. military is currently training the Mughaweir Al-Thawra forces in Tanf Mountain region of southeast Homs.

The U.S. military is allegedly training these rebels to fight the Islamic State (ISIL) forces in southeast Syria.

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their allies are concerned about the U.S.’ presence in the area, as they do not believe the latter is interested in fighting ISIL, but rather, imposing a no-fly-zone to fight the government in Damascus, a military source told Al-Masdar yesterday.

Map of southern Syria after US-backed rebels reach Deir Ezzor border

BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 A.M.) – The US and Jordanian backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) troops in southern Syria have captured a large chunk of territory that was previously under the control of the Islamic State (ISIL) in southeast Al-Sweida, Damascus, and Homs.

Following the capture of the entire Badiyah area of southeast Homs, the Free Syrian Army made their first push towards the Deir Ezzor Governorate since they were expelled by the Islamic State forces in 2014.

Meanwhile, in southeast Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army is making their own push eastward, as they attempt to capture much of the desert territory under the Free Syrian Army’s control near the Jordanian border-crossings.

To counter the Syrian Army’s offensive in southeast Damascus, the U.S. and Jordanian forces have entered southern Syria and taken up positions at the Tanf Border-Crossing; this is meant to deter the government units from pushing to this area.

Egyptian parliament calls for Syria’s return to Arab League

The Committee of Arab Affairs at the Egyptian parliament called on the Syrian Arab Republic to restore its seat at the Arab League, describing the current situation as totally ‘unacceptable’.

The Committee states that the strategic ties and mutual struggle shared by both countries make it necessary to positively intervene in the Syrian case.

On the recently-held peace talks in Astana between the Syrian government and opposition, the CAF underlined the need to maintain the country’s institution, unity and sovereignty.

It also put a special emphasis on the fact that only Syrians have the right to decide the future of their country and form of government through democratic and free elections, taking into account the public interest of the country, expressing concerns about what it called ‘attempts to obliterate the Arabic and Islamic character of Syria through the draft constitution laid down by Russia.

Yemen triumph over Saudi-US destruction machine: ِِ Anis Naqash

US-Saudi War Crimes, Yemen’s Humanitarian Crisis: Civilian Killings, Famine, Refugees. The Western Media’s Remorseless Silence

Global Research, August 30, 2016

Yemen

While the slaughter of Yemenis continues, the world remains silent in response to their screams. Why is that? Has the world lost its senses, especially to feel the sufferings of the tormented? In an alleged effort to defeat the Houthi rebels, a coalition of Arab states led by Saudi Arabia, supported by the United States and the United Kingdom have been bombarding Yemen, already one of the poorest and least developed countries in the world, with air-strikes since March 2015, sending it literally back to the stone-age.

The war has triggered a major humanitarian crisis. Since the air-strikes began,

“food prices [in Yemen] have gone up 60 percent, leaving 14 million people across the country classified as ‘food insecure’ (Yemen’s children die from bombs, bullets, hunger, ABC News, August 23).”

According to figures provided in the New York Times,

“the war has killed more than 6,500 people, displaced more than 2.5 million others and pushed one of the world’s poorest countries from deprivation to devastation (“America Is Complicit in the Carnage in Yemen”, August 17).”

Other reports have shown these figures to be much higher. Meanwhile, the United Nations has blamed the coalition for at least 60 percent of deaths and injuries to children last year, warning along with human rights groups, that the coalition may have been “commissioning international war crimes” (Saudi-led coalition could be committing ‘international crimes’ bombing civilians in Yemen, UN warns, The Independent, March 19).

At a press briefing at the United Nations on June 29, Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International revealed that,

“Unlawful air strikes by the Saudi-led coalition have killed and maimed hundreds of children in Yemen and damaged dozens of schools, but the coalition strong-armed the Secretary-General in an attempt to escape scrutiny.” That is, to have Saudi Arabia removed from the UN’s list of shame. The Secretary General Ban Ki-moon himself after being bullied said, “There has been fierce reaction to my decision to temporarily remove the Saudi-led Coalition countries from the report’s annex. This was one of the most painful and difficult decisions I have had to make. The report describes horrors no child should have to face.”

Yet, the media, and especially the western media, continues to keep mum. Why? Well, one explanation may be that because the coalition consists of those allied with the West, the western media does not want to report on the alleged war crimes that they may have committed. Another reason for such deafening silence, however, may be because most of the killings are actually being committed using weapons supplied by the West.

According to the Washington Post, the US has sold the Saudis a total of USD 20 billion in weapons over the last one year. Britain too has sold close to USD 4 billion worth of weapons to the Saudis. The Obama administration, despite aggressively lobbying for greater gun control in the US, “has discreetly brokered and authorised the sale of more arms to foreign governments than any other US president since World War II”, according to Owen B. McCormack. During the first five years of his tenure alone, “new agreements under the Pentagon’s Foreign Military Sales programme — the largest channel for US arms exports — totalled over USD 169 billion,” exceeding the amount authorised during the entire tenure of his predecessor by almost USD 30 billion.

And, of course, the main recipient of American made weapons has been Saudi Arabia — “almost 10 percent of US arms exports” while 9 percent went “to the United Arab Emirates, an ally of Riyadh in the Yemen war (“Such a long silence on Yemen,” The Hindu, August 22).” According to Congressional Research Service, even as early as 2010, the Obama administration authorised the sale of a whopping USD 90.4 billion worth of arms to the Saudis. And according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute,

“arms imports to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states increased 71 percent from 2005-2009 to 2010-2014, accounting for 54 percent of imports to the Middle East in the latter period. Saudi Arabia rose to become the second largest importer of major weapons worldwide in 2010-2014, increasing the volume of its arms imports four times compared to 2005-2009.”

Not surprisingly, many of these weapons are being used to devastating effect in Yemen according to the likes of Human Rights Watch, Oxfam and Amnesty International, including the British made cluster bombs, even though the weapon was banned in conflict decades ago because of their catastrophic effects on civilians (“British-made cluster bomb found in Yemeni village targeted by Saudi-led coalition”, The Independent, May 23).

And so it goes, with innocent Yemenis being torn to shreds by the most horrific of weapons out there, the Lords of War continue to make windfall profits. Fortunately for them, the media’s silence guarantees that there is no significant pressure to end the supply of weapons to maim and kill a bunch of poor people here and there. After all, how else will the demand for these weapons keep up with their massive supply? As the fictional character in the movie Lord of War, Yuri Orlov said, “where there’s a will, there’s a weapon”. And the “coalition of the willing”, whether it be to go to war in Iraq, or for the destruction of Yemen, have been more than ready to oblige to the will of western arms manufacturers. For the Yemenis, however, the horrors of having these weapons used on them are, unfortunately, very real. As should be our shame for failing to genuinely care for the lives of innocent men, women and children, despite repeatedly saying otherwise, as evident from our remorseless silence in the face of their desperate screams.

Flashback: “Mustafa Badreddine” and the Israeli fiasco

Syrian Free Press

hezbollah_mustafa_badreddine-11

By Israa Al-Fass, Al-Manar
(submitted by Cem Ertür)

“Mustafa Badreddine” and the Israeli Fiasco

“On that day I was in the city of Qom when we received the news of Saddam entering Kuwait. At the time, nothing but the detainees of the Kuwait Prison, among which was Sayyed Mustafa Badreddine, came to my mind. I was asking myself about their destiny after the entering of Saddam”,
says the Coordinator of Al-AMAN Network for Strategic Studies, Anees Naqqash to Al-Manar Website.

The name of “Mustafa Badreddine”, just like other great resistance leaders, is not mentioned in Beirut’s southern suburb unless it is to comment on what is reported by journals and websites such as claims and scenarios that aim at defaming the man known by the people of resistance in Lebanon as one of its distinguished leaders and a man of uncountable achievements.

There are many guys who receive their orders from “Mustafa Badreddine” without knowing him. Some would meet him without knowing who he is. “Mustafa Badreddine,” like other leaders, doesn’t like popularity or being mentioned here and there.

However, media reports made the name of “Mustafa Badreddine” one of the most attractive titles for readers. Many reports were published about the man, presenting him as a multi-relationship, quick-tempered, corrupt, who owns fancy apartments and cars besides accusing him of assassinating PM Rafik Hariri, the report of the US Treasury, freezing his money assets and other defaming issues. Mr. Naqqash says billions were spent on these reports to defame the resistance. Not only “Israel” was the financer of this money, but also some Gulf countries were keen to support all what could harm Hezbollah, its resistance and symbols.

Mr. Naqqash

Mr. Naqqash tells us about Sayyed Badreddine’s release from prison in Kuwait in 1990 after it was invaded by Saddam Hussein forces. As for the “Sayyed’s” value, Naqqash uncovers calls that took place with Iranian officials to be ready for the exchange operation with the Iraqi regime once Badreddine’s personality is recognized. “In fact, we didn’t believe there was any other solution.”

At the time, Iraqi forces were robbing the Kuwaiti houses. They burnt public properties, and prisons were opened in which “the group” was released, among which was Badreddine.

Why “Mustafa Badreddine”?

“Because the man has a history and a background, he occupies a high rank in the resistance work, and they believe he plays a role in Syria, something they are annoyed of… Their information might not be correct,” says Mr. Anees Naqqash.

Badreddine’s name is related to Hezbollah’s resistance work, which represents the most evident and mostly respected side by its people; hence influencing this side is an important goal for the enemy.

His town is Ghobeiry, he is also familiar with the areas of Ouzai, Haret Hreik and beyond. His life is full of secrets which telling them is yet to be permitted, as well as the picture of his fellow martyr leader Imad Moughnieh.

Mustafa Badreddine was trained by Fatah Movement, he was involved in and led confrontations against the Zionist enemy since the beginning in 1982 after the Israeli invasion. He was among the group that confronted the Israeli army during the famous Battle of Khalde, in which he was deprived from entering Beirut through its southern gate.

“Destroying the image of the combatant” or what is also known as the “character assassination,” is a method taught in the academies under the title of: “How to combat a revolutionary movement.”

As Mr. Anees Naqqash talks about what he read regarding “the art of fighting revolutionary movements,” he tells a story that took place between the British and the Irish Republican Army that was demanding independence.

He narrates:

“When the British were able to identify the person responsible for the revolution, they kidnapped him, killed him and dissolved his body in acid. After his disappearance, supporters of the Irish army suspected that he might be either detained or killed… Few months later, his family started receiving money orders from Canada under his name. The goal of the British was to show the supporters of the cause that the “revolutionary leader” escaped with the money of the army, and they wanted to cut off the funding the army was receiving from the sympathizers with their cause in the United States throughout discrediting the integrity of the Republican Irish people, and damaging their trust in them. The British succeeded also in convincing the Irish army that the revolutionary escaped with the money, they caused chaos among the army troops, and the story remained hidden until it was uncovered by media reports that were published later.”

It is said that the character assassination banishes the need to the physical one. But this is not applied to the case of Mustafa Badreddine, because “Israel” won’t rest before assassinating him. He’s at all times the precious and wanted catch.

A specialist in speech analysis explains that this method “uses the general moral titles in an immoral way against a public figure that is wanted to be socially overthrown. Religion, morality, terrorism and national betrayal are here used against political opponents to defame the moral value of the person in public among his people or the public opinion.”

The specialist adds that what he describes as “political assassination” is drawn by intelligence apparatuses, executed by media outlets and institutions that hide their agendas behind some shiny slogans…” He adds, “in the case of Mustafa Badreddine, it is clear that the moral assassination is a strategy used by the enemies of Hezbollah to socially overthrow them regarding the model image the Hezbollah people view them with.”

Character Assassination is Evidence of “Fiasco”

Mr. Naqqash clarifies that character assassination comes to hide the failure in achieving a physical assassination. “Israel” recognizes that it is unable to execute “Badreddine,” that’s why pumping such defamatory reports is meant to say that the survival of a man “with such characteristics is way better than killing him.”

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah has mentioned in the speech he delivered in the graduation ceremony of the sons of martyrs:

“Those who haven’t been reached yet by physical assassination, they are working to assassinate them on the moral level. There are specialized Israeli websites and intelligence systems that focus on our brothers, leaders and fighters, in which they accuse them of convictions on the personal, moral, financial and behavioral levels. This comes as part of the moral assassination of some leaders whose history in the resistance work, sacrifices and achievements are distinguished, after they failed to assassinate them physically.”

The Coordinator of Al-AMAN Network for Strategic Studies sums up:

“Perhaps the media propaganda and daily pumping of information have influenced the subconscious of the follower, but what is important is that such pumping has no influence on the youth people of the resistance. What we are witnessing of achievements and sacrifices on a daily basis prove how much this group trusts its leadership. Even on the popular level, there is awareness that what is going on is a moral targeting and that it is a different method of war launched against the resistance. We can sense the strong presence of resistance among the popular conscience, which makes us feel content that we are at our best.”

Hezbollah Jihadi Commander:
“I’m Either Martyr or Holder of Victory Flag”

Al-Akhbar Newspaper
Translated by Mohamed Salami

Mustafa BadreddineThe continuation of the open-silent war between Hezbollah and the enemy is no longer limited to a consultation among the central states, like Israel, the US and some Western countries. It gradually became a practical cooperation which includes Arab states and services as well, and unfortunately some of the Lebanese.

In this issue, the matter is not restricted to one side, which is describing the jihadi commanders as terrorists, but extends to be a broadened pressure program that aims at destorting the images of those who are alive and the martyrs and at subjecting their close social environment or the slightly wider to behave in a different way regarding what is said or circulated about them, especially that this campaign reflects the role of professional parties that possess huge capabilities, but they conceal what is more dangerous than hostility: It is hatred which leads to blind fanaticism.

In this context were the speech of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah last Saturday and his long elaboration on what was recently released, including the US resolution or the new list which targets a number of Hezbollah jihadi commanders, imposing financial sanctions against them and confiscating their funds. They have also been circulating lies since several years that are related to commanders, personalities, cadres and officials from Hezbollah as it seems that whom they failed to assassinate physically, they work on assassinating them morally. Besides, there are specialized Israeli and intelligence websites that concentrate on Hezbollah mujahidin and commanders and throw personal, moral, financial and behavioral accusations at them. This comes in the context of the moral assassination of the leaders who have a history of jihad, sacrifices and major achievements after they failed to kill them physically.

What may be new is talking about the issue directly and about the most prominent of the targeted by this operation who is Hezbollah jihadi commander Mustafa Badreddine that has been playing his central role in the open confrontation of the Israeli Mossad and the US intelligence since 1982. The enemy has tried, without stopping, to reach “Zulfikar”. After he went out by force from the Kuwaiti government’s jail, he resumed his jihadi work by leading the most sensitive security and military apparatus of the Resistance. Moreover, the Americans and the Israelis continued chasing him with the intention of assassinating and getting rid of him.

After the martyrdom of Hajj Imad Moughnieh, the enemy, including all its Hebrew, Arab and Western sections, went out to announce that it is facing a new problem and that its existing goal is who has been the target all the time. The direct campaign on Badreddine has been renewed and invigorated since several years after the enemy accused him of being behind the hugest security campaign launched by the Resistance against the US-Israeli spy networks in Lebanon, Syria and other places, as entire networks were destroyed and dozens of traitors were arrested.

Since the eruption of the crisis in Syria, a new stage of the confrontation started, based on the role of Badreddine in leading the Resistance groups which fight alongside with the Syrian army in several areas in Syria and in commanding a military and security feat which aims at not only frustrating the plans of the traditional enemies of Syria and the Resistance, but blowing direct strikes to the takfiri groups.

They accused him of assassinating the former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri as a campaign was launched to turn him to be a criminal chased officially all over the world. They also tried to harm him through well-known false witnesses and others who are thought by the International Tribunal to be confidential witnesses as well as those who think that they are anonymous. Those (witnesses) submitted testimonies and stories which not only serve the context of accusing him of murdering Hariri but also present him as an immoral or outlawed man.

In this period, the Israeli-US intelligence worked on that helped unfortunately by a Lebanese team that some of its members occupy official and political posts. All those attempted to reach him either to assassinate or to kidnap him, but they failed. They also idly tried to uncover his work’s mechanisms and the networks he leads against the Mossad agents and the trakfiri groups in Lebanon, Syria and farther.

Their campaign does not aim only at deforming the image of Badreddine before the public opinion but also at pushing him to react wrongly and under tension. However, Badreddine does not react to their reactions but just laughs at all what they circulate as the case of all Hezbollah Jihadi commanders.

Although Badreddine is absolutely away from the media and statements, those who work with him reiterate what he says, “My duty is to confront all their schemes, and I will not abandon my work neither in Lebanon, Syria nor in any other place except as a martyr or holding the flag of victory.”

Resisting President LAHOUD: We Must Defend Lebanon Whenever Being under Attack

Lahoud: We Must Defend Lebanon Whenever Being under Attack

Local EditorLebanon: Former President Emile Lahoud

Former Lebanese President Emile Lahoud stressed on Monday that “Lebanon did not abandon the Arab consensus, but Arabs abandoned it as they are working to reach consensus on Israel,” attributing the reason of Saudi escalating policies towards Lebanon to the losses of Kingdom in the Syrian battlefield.

During an interview with Al-Manar TV channel, President Lahoud pointed out that Saudis wanted to deliver a message to the Lebanese people that the existence of their country depends on its sponsorship, stating that whenever there is an attack on Lebanon, the Lebanese people must defend themselves and not distance themselves.

Lahoud expressed beliefs that the root problem of the region is ‘Israel’, which is plotting conspiracies sponsored by the United States within the Persian Gulf states, and implemented by the so-called ‘Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’ (ISIL) takfiri group.

The outline is made by Israel and the executioners are some regional states with the help of Washington, whose foreign policy is influenced by the Zionist lobby,” the ex-President said, adding that the United States wanted to topple Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as a punishment for his stand with the resistance against Israel.

“His [Assad’s] stance rescued Lebanon, especially Christians who are being exterminated in the region at the hands of ISIL and other terrorist groups,” he said.

He noted that the first loser in Syria will be ‘Israel’, which is trying to compensate for its defeat by provoking sedition in Lebanon.

“If the Saudi claims about fighting ISIL were true, so why they would have stopped the aid to the army that is fighting terrorist groups?” Lahoud asked in reference to halting the Saudi ‘grant’ promised for Lebanon, stressing that those terrorist groups are being supported by the countries that halted aid to the Lebanese army.

“Saudi Arabia is confused today, therefore it is behaving this illogic in Lebanon, while the Lebanese politicians who are walking the Saudi path receive monthly salaries from the Kingdom, while the Saudi aid for Lebanon is being allocated for the leaders and not for the impoverished people in the North, Akkar and other poor regions.

Ex-president Lahoud stressed that we were able to liberate the land because our dignity is very dear, where as the biggest threat is coming from the refugees whom are being used as a card to put pressure on Lebanon and to blow up the situation.

Moreover, putting pressure on the Resistance by threatening the Lebanese abroad with their livelihood, will be in vain, Lahoud stressed, noting that our dignity comes in the first place before our livelihood,” reassuring that the economic situation is stable and strong amid the presence of Governor of the Bank of Lebanon Riyad Salameh.

Regarding the apology demanded by Saudi Arabia from Lebanon’s cabinet, Lahoud said that the Lebanese people didn’t commit any mistake and they are not slaves for anyone.

Lahoud highlighted that the Resistance in Lebanon has defeated ‘Israel’, and today “we are stronger than before by our army and resistance, and we can defeat the countries that are conspiring against Lebanon and Syria.”

Sayyed Nasrallah: If Syria Falls, Palestine Will Do… Aggression on Yemen Serves ’Israel’

Zeinab Essa

Hizbullah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered Friday a speech in which he tackled a number of regional and internal issues.

Sayyed Nasrallah

“Imam Khomeini’s goal was to keep the cause of al-Quds alive by designating al-Quds Day.”

On the event, the Resistance Leader hailed Praising the Yemeni and Bahraini people, who despite their sufferings went out to confirm their jihadi, ideological and political commitment to the issue of Palestine.

He praised the fact that al-Quds Day was also commemorated in Bahrain despite the continuous crackdown against its people from the ruling dynasty as well as the terrorist “ISIL” threats.

Aggression on Yemen Serves “Israel”

Moving to Yemen, Sayyed Nasrallah stated: “Despite the continuous Saudi-American aggression against Sanaa, tens of thousands took out to the streets and rallied for Jerusalem, Palestine and Gaza,” he stressed.

In parallel, he lamented that “the Yemeni people feel that the world has turned its back on them.”
“The war against Yemen today is the biggest service Saudi Arabia can do to Israel,” he said. “And it is coming free of charge.”

Sayyed Nasrallah further mentioned that “the Saudi war on Yemen is now being fought without any political objectives and it only aims to take revenge on Yemen and its people.”

Moreover, His Eminence stressed that “if Yemen becomes sovereign, free, independent and governed by the will of its people, it would become a resistant country that is part of the axis of resistance, which would pose a strategic threat to “Israel”.”

According to Sayyed Nasrallah, “”Israel” the mother of all terrorism presents itself as a force fighting terrorism.”

“Some Zionist leaders are trying to convince the world to officially acknowledge the annexation of the Golan into the Zionist entity,” he warned, noting that “”Israel” is the root of terrorism, and the entity that was established by terrorist organizations is trying to present itself as a force fighting terrorism.”

Enemy of Iran, Enemy of Palestine

On another level, Sayyed Nasrallah confirmed that “Israel’s” main objectives are targeted against Iran.

“”Israel” knows that the takfiri scheme, which is sponsored by some Arab regimes, is destroying the countries that it wants destroyed,” he added.

Regarding the “Israeli” fear from the Iranian steadfastness and strength, Hizbullah Secretary General emphasized that ” once Syria was plagued by conflict, the enemies focused on Iran and the resistance movement as the remaining greatest threats.”

“Iran is the only country that, in the mind of the “Israeli” officials, poses an existential threat to “Israel”; thus, they seek to incite the entire world against the Islamic Republic.”

In addition His Eminence acknowledged: “Because Iran represents a threat to “Israel”, military wars were waged against it in the past, and now it is facing a psychological, media and economic war, and Washington’s allies in the region are taking part in these wars.”

“If you want to support Palestine, you have to support the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Sayyed Nasrallah said, highlighting that “if you are an enemy of the Islamic Republic, you are an enemy of Palestine.”

He stressed that the Resistance movement proudly poses a strategic threat to the Zionist entity. “However, it has not reached a level to pose an existential treat” to “Israel”.”

On this level, His Eminence asserted that the question must be asked why this “complete enmity” is being directed at Iran and not against Arab countries. In response, Sayyed Nasrallah highlighted that the Zionist entity realized that Arab officials do nothing for the cause of Palestine and Gaza.

“Aren’t they part of the Islamic nation? Are the Palestinians not Muslims?”” Sayyed Nasrallah asked.

As he hailed Tehran’s commitment to the Palestinian cause, he continued to ask: “Who is still raising the flag? He, who is still raising the flag… still standing on the front-line… is the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

“Imam Khomeini’s Iran, the Iranian government and people under the leadership of Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei will never recognize “Israel”,” he said.

“If the entire nuclear deal hinges on the precondition of acknowledging “Israel” as a “state”, the Iranian republic and its people would never accept such a condition, because they would be renouncing their religion if they accept such a stance.”

Sayyed Nasrallah further underlined that “the only hope left for this region, after God, is the Iranian republic and its support for the resistance movements in the region.”

“Any talk about a Shia crescent is a lie by corrupt Arab officials,” he said, adding that Iran is an ally of Arab countries.

On this level, His Eminence clarified that “the claims that there is a Persian scheme are aimed at diverting the attention of Muslims from the Palestinian cause. Any talk of a Shiite crescent is a lie fabricated by the corrupt Arab system, which has abandoned Palestine.”

Palestine’s Road passes through Syria

Commenting on the developments in Syria, Sayyed Nasrallah asserted: “Syria is defiant and it will remain steadfast.”

“Our Resistance fighters who fall in Syria are dying for the sake of the resistant Syria, Lebanon and Palestine. The road to Occupied al-Quds does not go through Jounieh, but it goes through Qalamoun, Zabadani, Daraa and Hasakeh, because if Syria is lost, Palestine would be lost.”

Reiterating Hizbullah’s condemnation to the recent terrorist attacks against the Kuwaiti mosques, Sayyed Nasrallah hailed Kuwaiti response to these attacks.

“The bombing in Kuwait was meant to incite sectarian conflict in the country, but to no avail, as the country’s emir, government and scholars prevented such a scenario from playing out.”

Not to Leave Aoun Alone

Moving to the internal front, Sayyed Nasrallah highlighted that “Weeks ago, it was obvious that the country was heading towards a clash over the issue of government and the Free Patriotic Movement [FPM] is a key party in the equation.”

“Aoun is raising legitimate demands. Some parties believed that the allies do not share the same stance and that Hizbullah is preoccupied in Syria and that Aoun was alone. We insisted on consensus in the cabinet and we did not need to reach this extent.”owever, His Eminence stressed that “Aoun’s allies have not abandoned the FPM. Some parties tried to drive a wedge between the allies.”

In response to such fabrications, he unveiled that ” Aoun never asked Hizbullah to join its street protest as he is fully aware that Hizbullah’s participation not in FPM’s interests.”

Meanwhile, Sayyed Nasrallah voiced his backing of Aoun’s demands to respect unanimous consent as a condition for any decision in the Cabinet until a president is elected.

“We are not giving up on any of our allies, and particularly not on Gen. Aoun and the FPM,” he said. “Our options are open. Don’t assume that we won’t not do some things, everything is possible. I am not threatening, but this is how we behave.”

He also assured that neither Aoun nor his allies want to topple the government, because that would plunge the entire country into vacuum.

Sayyed Nasrallah called for serious dialogue, especially between Aoun and the Future movement, noting that the Future Movement did not honor the promises to Aoun. “We have a chance till after the Eid (Eid al-Fitr) to figure it out,” he said. “The Future Movement had made promises to Gen. Aoun, so they should go ahead and discuss them.”

“Lebanon needs its civil peace, institutions and coexistence, and it has no room for elimination, exclusion or monopolization, and partnership is our destiny,” His Eminence concluded.
