Will Finland be the next Ukraine?

With Joe Biden as American Vice President and Victoria Nuland handing out cookies to the violent protesters on Maidan Square, the scene was set for the violent overthrow of the democratically-elected President Yanukovych.

Let’s review what’s happening in Ukraine and how that might impact Finland.

The American-financed and directed coup of 2014 in Kiev was yet another CIA-inspired color revolution.

With Joe Biden as American Vice President and Victoria Nuland handing out cookies to the violent protesters on Maidan Square, the scene was set for the violent overthrow of the democratically-elected President Yanukovych.

The following Massacre in Odessa of anti-coup demonstrators beaten, murdered, and burned to death inside the trade union building by a savage mob of Russophobic fascists set the stage for the secession of Donbass, the Russian-speaking, Russian Orthodox Oblasts of Lugansk, Donetsk, and Crimea.

Russia’s stated aim with its Special Military Operation is to denazify Ukraine, prevent it from joining NATO, and ensure that Ukraine remains a neutral country.

One month after the special military operation commenced, Russia and Ukraine had concluded a ceasefire and possible peace treaty, and then Boris Johnson was dispatched by Biden to tell Zelensky under no circumstances he would be allowed to sign a peace treaty with Russia.

The result is what we can witness today; a blood bath of nearly First World War proportions.

Hundreds of thousands dead. Ground won and lost is being counted in meters not kilometers, and Ukraine in 2023 is now being destroyed, financially, economically, and militarily.

Millions have fled or been displaced by the conflict.

America and NATO are prepared to fight to the last Ukrainian in an endless battle of death and destruction, without involving American boots on the ground, except those directing the conflict in this proxy war of attrition against the democratically-elected leaders of the Russian Federation.

They plan to Balkanize Russia and profit from the privatization of these newly created markets subject to Western corporative exploitation.

A plan that will never succeed.

So how will this affect Finland?

Finland has a land border with Russia similar in size to that of Ukraine.

Finland until recently was a neutral country, but the leaders without holding a referendum of their people’s wishes have charged headlong into NATO, with Sweden set to join them.

Nearly all NATO countries in Europe have American military bases and munitions on their soil.

If Finland allows America to build military bases stocked with nuclear tactical weapons and inter-ballistic missiles, can Russia stand idly by while this new threat emanates from Finland and subsequently from Sweden?

Are America and NATO preparing to further their aim of totally corralling Russia with a ring of belligerent Russophobic satellite states ready to launch strikes on St. Petersburg, on Moscow, and perhaps even on Minsk in Belarus?

Far from the war ending in Ukraine, it’s possible the moral bankruptcy of the West as exposed by Biden, will they then escalate the conflict in the near future?

While NATO is in no position to lead a sustained war on Russia, this game of brinkmanship could very well become catastrophic.

From the collapse of the unipolar globalist world order to the anti-colonial struggles very much still relevant in Africa today, we can see that in light of the neo-colonialist imperialism with its maverick military adventures, the West may yet lead us to the brink of annihilation.

Let’s hope Russia succeeds to denazify Ukraine and the Global South keeps its sovereign resources for the benefit of its citizens and we finally achieve a more equitable world, but this can only happen when the West is fatally wounded economically, militarily, and financially.

Let’s wait and see, who wins, how they win, and where they win, in this global struggle for dignity with justice.

As for Finland, they have made a strategic mistake in embracing NATO as the world turns and times change, they may well have joined the losing side.

Sayyed Nasrallah’s Full Speech on the 10th Day of Muharram

August 10, 2023

Translated by Al-Ahed News, Hezbollah Media Relations

Speech of Hezbollah Secretary His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on the Day of Ashura 1445 AH.

I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and prayers and peace be upon our Master and Prophet, the Seal of Prophets, Abi al-Qassem Muhammad Bin Abdullah, and his good and pure household and his good and chosen companions and all the prophets and messengers.

Peace be upon you, O my master and my chief, O Abu Abdullah, and upon the souls that gathered in your courtyard. Peace of Allah be upon you from me forever as long as I am existent and as long as there are day and night.

May Allah not cause this [visit] to be the last of my visit to you [all]. Peace be upon al-Husayn [Imam Hussein], upon Ali ibn al-Husayn, upon the sons of al-Husayn, and upon the companions of al-Husayn.

Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you all.

Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon all of you, O Hussainis and Zainabiyyat.

On this great day, the day of calamity, the day of condolence, and the day of sorrow, you and I, must first turn to the greatest Messenger of God Muhammad [may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his household], to the Commander of the Faithful, Ali bin Abi Talib, to the Lady of the Women of the Worlds, Fatima Al-Zahra, to Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba, our imams, masters, and leaders, and especially to the imam of our time, al-Mahdi, al-Hujjat ibn al-Hasan al-Askari [peace be upon him].

We express our sympathy for what befell their beloved, dear, and honorable Aba Abdullah Al-Hussein and what afflicted his brothers, children, companions, family, and everyone with him in the eyes of God and for the sake of God. What befell them bawls the eyes out and bleeds the hearts. It will continue to cause grief and remain a calamity until the Day of Judgment.

We also extend our condolences to the deputy of al-Mahdi in this era,  the Imam and Leader, His Eminence the Grand Ayatollah Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei as well as to our great references, all Muslims and lovers, and to all the oppressed who understand and feel the reality of Karbala and are in pain over what happened there.

First, we express our condolences and sorrow. Secondly, we express our loyalty through this large gathering. I thank my brothers and sisters for their attendance, endurance, and patience throughout these days and nights. Despite the weather and the difficult living conditions and everything happening in our country, you have taken part in recent days and nights.

Today, we thank you for taking part in the southern suburbs of Beirut [Dahiye] and in all the cities and villages that will witness and are witnessing great Husseini marches. May God brighten your faces and accept your efforts.

Through your presence and raised fists you are sending a message of steadfastness, devotion, endurance, and your ability to stay in the battlefield. It expresses the firm determination to continue on the path that began with the prophets and concluded with the last Messenger of God in a new breakthrough that passed through Karbala – a historical juncture – and will carry on until al-Mahdi appears and until the Hour.

Brothers and sisters, usually on a day like this I don’t take up much of your time because of the fatigue and hardship, and especially since we’ve talked a lot during previous nights. That is why I’ll briefly mention a number of things that have been accomplished.

Last night, we said that the title of our march here is to defend the two thaqalayn: the Book [the Book of God] or the Quran and the progeny [the household of the Messenger of God].

1-            The Quran:

When it comes to the issue of the Noble Quran, the governments of Sweden and Denmark as well as the whole world must understand that we are a nation that does not tolerate aggression and desecration of its symbols and sanctities, its Quran, Prophet, and Al-Aqsa Mosque – its first Qibla. We are a nation that does not tolerate that. This has been our cultural, moral, spiritual, and sentimental composition since the beginning, hundreds of years ago. This is how we are.

We reject this injustice, this humiliation, and this aggression. There might be nations in the present era that do not care and are not shaken or affected when their sacred symbols and religious sanctities are desecrated, and therefore, deal with this assault indifferently or may excuse it as a type of freedom of expression.

However, the nation of two billion Muslims is not like that. Its awareness, conscience, way of thinking, morals, history, and present are not like that. This must be understood by the whole world.

In the past few days, the Holy Quran was burned and desecrated again in Denmark. They placed shoes on top of the Quran, with the protection of the Danish police. When some people came to rescue this Quran, they were beaten, abused, and humiliated.

This is an aggression against Islam and against two billion Muslims in this world. In a few days, there will be a meeting of the foreign ministers of Islamic countries or the Organization of Islamic Cooperation [OIC]. Muslims in the world will await the results of this meeting, and we are among them.

Islamic countries and their foreign ministers must take decisions with the same level of aggression, desecration, violation, and persistence that took place in Sweden and Denmark. They must deliver a firm, decisive and unequivocal message to these governments that aggression will be met again with a diplomatic and economic boycott.

If they do not do that, they are not defending their religion, their Quran, or their Prophet. I tell you this on the day of rejection of humiliation and the eradication of injustice. If they do not do that, it is upon the Muslim youth in the world and those who are zealous and brave to take charge and punish the desecrators and aggressors and those who want to burn the Quran. They must not wait for someone to defend their Quran and their religion.

All of the world’s Muslim youth will be ready if the Islamic countries do not assume their responsibility and if these governments do not stop this aggression. The world will see, God willing, the courage and zeal of these youth who are prepared to sacrifice their lives and blood for their Prophet, their Book, and their Quran.

Our main slogan today are these three sentences. Let us repeat them as we did last night, together and let them be heard by the world. Labbayk ya Quran [I am at your service O Quran], Labbayk ya Hussein [I am at your service O Hussein], Labbayk ya Mahdi [I am at your service O Mahdi].

2-            Al-Aqsa Mosque:

These savage extremist Zionists insist on the desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque and constantly threatening this place that is sacred to all Muslims.

The [“Israeli”] enemy must also see from all Muslims in the world a firm, decisive, and clear position. The meeting of OIC ministers must also take a stand on this issue, especially since the Al-Aqsa Mosque was subjected to grave violations a few days ago by these filthy occupiers and aggressors.

Our Islamic world and our Muslim youth in the world must make this enemy understand what the dire consequences of harming this dear part of our Islamic sanctities are.

3-            Palestine:

The issue of Palestine in this time is the obvious right, while the Zionist entity is the clear and obvious falsehood. It is the greatest evil in our region, the absolute evil in our region, the germ of corruption in our region, and the cancerous gland in our region, in the body of our region. This region will not rest before eradicating and uprooting this cancerous gland and this germ of corruption.

Today, the Palestinian people believe in resistance and have taken the option of resistance more than ever before. They are betting on the resistance within themselves and on the Axis of Resistance in the region. They are offering martyrs every day and fighting every day, using cars, knives, stones, locally manufactured explosives, pistols, and bullets. The oppressed, struggling, resisting, sacrificing and patient Palestinian people is entitled to support and victory from all the free people of the world, not just the Muslims of the world.

Here, from the southern suburbs, we affirm the support of Hezbollah and the Islamic resistance in Lebanon. We will offer anything we can and will be on the side of the Palestinian resistance and people. We consider their battle ours.

Our battle is one, our destiny is one, our dignity is one, and our future is one in this region. The will of the resistance fighters will triumph and this usurping entity will cease to exist in Palestine, God willing. They see it far, and we see it near.

4-            Regional issues:

–              Yemen:

The dear people of Yemen are still suffering from a blockade and the repercussions of aggression. An informal truce is not enough. These people have been attacked, and wars have been waged on them for years.

They steadfastly, patiently, and valiantly resisted and sacrificed tens of thousands of martyrs and wounded, men, women and children, as well as prisoners, demolished homes, and destroyed livelihoods.

They’re led by a brave, wise, and a dear leadership that evaluates the situation responsibly and with precision. These people believed in jihad, resistance, and Karbala, its leaders, culture, and spirit. That is why they’ve been displaying legendary steadfastness during all these years amid great aggression and the large number of coalition forces, led by the United States of America.

It is the right of the dear Yemeni people that the aggression against them be halted, the siege on them be lifted, and for them to return to their normal lives.

In the event of persistence, procrastination, and insistence, they have the right to make the appropriate choice and decision, and everyone must support whatever choice they choose because it is the choice of the oppressed and the assaulted and those claiming their rights.

–              Syria:

There is ongoing suffering in Syria due to the sanctions under the Caesar Act, the unjust American law, and the American blockade imposed on Syria to subdue it after the military and political failure. Every free and honorable person in our region and in the world must strive to break this unjust, unfair, tyrannical, inhuman, and savage siege.

–              Bahrain:

In Bahrain, the people aspire to obtain their natural rights in the face of tyranny and occupation through naturalization and demographic change that is deliberately altering the identity of Bahrain. Its indigenous people are being replaced by immigrants from all over the world. Meanwhile, its religious scholars, leading figures, and young people are either in prisons or in exile.

–              Lebanon:

The southern border:

On the southern border with occupied Palestine, Lebanon is the one being attacked. “Israel”, the usurper entity, is still occupying part of our land in the Shebaa Farms and Kfar Shuba Hills. Over the past weeks, it reoccupied the Lebanese part of the town of Ghajar, and with extreme insolence it is talking about the resistance’s provocations on the border.

All the while they are the ones provoking, infiltrating our borders, and violating our airspace. They are the ones occupying land again and continuing to occupy land yet talk about provocation.

They say in the media that tomorrow the “Israeli” Prime Minister will meet with his generals to assess the situation and study how to address the issue on the southern border.

From here, I warn them of committing any foolishness and any wrong choices. The resistance in Lebanon will not be lenient and will not abandon its responsibilities, in protection, in deterrence, and in liberation.

It will not bow its neck to this defeated entity. It will be ready to face any choice, any mistake, or any foolishness. This proud, honorable resistance in Lebanon will not be silent about it.

Domestically:

–              The presidential elections: It is clear, after all the efforts and all the initiatives, that there are political forces that reject dialogue that brings everyone together in one place and at one table, regardless of who leads this dialogue.

It is also clear that everyone will be waiting for September for the return of the French envoy and his initiative, which he is being talked about.

It is clear that everyone will wait for the September return of the French envoy and the initiative he talked about, and we believe that this is a chance until that time comes to open the door to serious strenuous bilateral talks that might break the current impasse in the presidential file. This is what we’re working on and cooperating on, and we’ll see what we can achieve in the coming days.

The caretaker government, whatever the difficulties, should continue to shoulder its responsibilities within the allowed constitutional restraints. It is unacceptable to paralyze parliament under any excuse when it comes to necessary legislation and everything related to the people’s lives.

Homosexuality:

We brought up this topic a few nights ago. Some people got angry about that, and this is good. This is what is required. Those working in the service of the Great Satan to promote this human, moral, and social deviation in Lebanon must get angry.

We are not inventing a battle or danger. It is a real and imminent danger. Today, the world started crying out, even within the United States of America and Western societies. It will only get louder because this project is inconsistent with human instinct and human nature, regardless of the religion and ideology they belong to.

In Lebanon, this danger began through some educational institutions and the so-called NGOs. A few days ago, children’s books promoting this deviant culture were published.

It was said that they had the approval of the Lebanese Ministry of Education. I do not know if this is true or not. It needs to be verified.

However, we call on the Lebanese government, and in particular the Lebanese Ministry of Education, to monitor, reconsider, prevent, and be part of protecting the children of Lebanon, the sons of Lebanon, the daughters of Lebanon, the next generation, and this society.

This battle is not for Muslims or Christians. It is the battle of the honorable man, the natural man, the man who still preserves his instinct, the man who is keen on his family and society and on the purity and originality of this society. This issue must be pursued with all the required seriousness.

Brothers and sisters, in the face of all the existing challenges – security, military, the enemy, jihadist, political, livelihood, economic, cultural, and educational – our duty that we understand from Karbala is to be present in all fields and in all arenas, regardless of the sacrifices, the pains, and the difficulties. We must not to abandon the arena at all, especially as we are facing this Great Satan who is taking advantage of the existence of this usurping entity to dominate the region, besiege it – with the Caesar Act and hunger – impose wars on it, and plunder its resources, oil, gas, and water. This is an open battle in defense of Lebanon, the nation, and the sanctities.

On Ashura, we renew our position, our speech, and our determination that we are a nation that wants to defend our people so that they are safe, dear, generous, free, and sovereign. We will defend our country, its wealth, oil, gas, and water from usurpation and plunder. We reject humiliation and injustice; we do not accept submission, humiliation, or surrender.

When the Great Satan, the Zionists, or any enemy puts us between two choices: between war and humiliation, between the sword [to fight] and humiliation, they know us very well.

They’ve known us during all the past decades, and especially during the past 40 years. We, the sons of Hussein [peace be upon him], do not only express this position on Ashura day but every day, in every field, battle, confrontation, arena, and challenge.

We echo to them and to the world the words of our master, our Imam, and our Hussain:

“Know that this evil-doer, who is a son of an evil-doer, makes me choose between two things: the sword [to fight] and humiliating allegiance. We will never be humiliated! Neither God, His Prophet, the immaculate women who raised us, nor the zealous and dignified ones would let us accept such humiliation.”

The martyrdom of our martyrs, our martyred leaders, our martyred scholars, and our martyred men and women are proof of our logic and our stance.

As on every Ashura day, we conclude with stating our commitment, our loyalty, our covenant, and our oath to [Imam] Hussein, the master of martyrs. We will continue in his path, carry his banner, and chant his name. His pure blood flows in our veins, and we will carry goals and confront all the tyrants of the earth.

We tell him every new Hijri year, “Labbayk ya Hussein” [We are at your service, O Hussein], and we are waiting for his grandson, who will preserve his blood, avenge him, achieve his goals, and establish justice in the land.

In the defense of the Quran for which Hussein was martyred, our permanent and renewed position and our loud call will be: Labbayk ya Quran [We are at your service O Quran], Labbayk ya Hussein [We are at your service O Hussein], Labbayk ya Mahdi [We are at your service O Mahdi].

May God bless you, increase your reward, and accept your deeds. May He reward you with the best reward.

Peace be upon you, O Abu Abdullah, and upon the souls that gathered in your courtyard. Peace of Allah be upon you from me forever as long as I am existent and as long as there are day and night.

May Allah not cause this [visit] to be the last of my visit to you [all]. Peace be upon al-Husayn [Imam Hussein], upon Ali ibn al-Husayn, upon the sons of al-Husayn, and upon the companions of al-Husayn who made sacrifices for the sake of al-Husayn.

Peace be upon the grandson of al-Husayn, the Awaited Mahdi, whom we await with our souls, our supplications, our jihad, our work, our pains, and our hopes.

Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon all of you.

Hezbollah Military Media Posts Video to Affirm Protecting Holy Quran with Blood

 August 1, 2023

Hezbollah Military Media Department posted a video titled “We will protect this Holy Book with our souls, hearts, and blood”.

The video shows Hezbollah martyrs, including the former Secretary General Sayyed Abbas Al-Moussawi and the military commander Hajj Imad Mughniyeh, reciting Quranic verses while reading their wills.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah appears in the video to be holding a copy of the Holy Book with an audio excerpted from his Tuesday’s speech about protecting Holy Quran.

Sayyed Nasrallah tackled the renewed cases of desecrating Holy Quran in Sweden, stressing that the offenders will regret.

Sayyed Nasrallah pointed out that the renewed desecration of Holy Quran in Sweden insults two billion Muslims, dramatically portraying the burnt Book as pleading the Muslims to defend it.

Hezbollah Leader added that Sweden hypocritically allows and denounces Quran desecration simultaneously, noting that the outcomes of the OIC meeting were as fragile as expected.

Accordingly, Sayyed Nasrallah called on the Muslim youths to defend their Sacred Book without waiting for the Islamic governments to protect it.

Nasrallah: Islamic govs stance on Quran burning is disappointing

The leader of the Lebanese Resistance announces that amid the weak support for the Quran shown by Muslim governments, Muslim youth should no longer await anyone in order to defend the desecration of their sanctities.

Secretary General of Hezbollah Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah, 1 August 2023

“The stance of Islamic countries in defending the Holy Quran is weak and disappointing,” Sayyed Nasrallah said today during the Ashura march commemorating the 13th of Muharram in the southern Lebanese city of Nabatiyeh.

“There is a Mossad agent who is desecrating Islamic sanctities under the protection of the Swedish police. his actions constitute an insult to two billion Muslims in the world,” Nasrallah said.

However, amid the weak support shown by Islamic countries in their support for the Quran, “There is no longer any point for Muslims to await the decisions of their governments and organizations. They must assume their responsibilities and severely punish those who desecrate the Quran.”

“If the insult had been directed at a king or a member of their family, they would have been upturned in fury. As for the burning of the Quran, they did nothing.”

“If the rulers in our Islamic world do not have the courage and zeal to defend the Holy Quran, how will they have the courage to defend our land, Lebanon, or the Al-Aqsa Mosque?”

In that context, he highlighted that what protects “Lebanon, its wealth, and its sovereignty is the Resistance, while the international community is a hoax that has remained inconsequential.

“We are in an era of victories made by people and Resistance movements, not states and governments.”

Yesterday, Swedish police granted a permit for a protest outside the Swedish parliament in which the organizers planned to burn the Quran, sparking diplomatic tensions and concerns over security.

The organizers of the protest expressed their desire to see the Muslim holy book banned in Sweden. One of the leading organizers, Salwan Najem, vowed to burn it repeatedly until the ban was implemented.

Clashes in Ain Al-Hilweh

In regards to the recent clashes between the Fatah movement and extremist groups, in the Ain Al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in the south of Lebanon, Sayyed Nasrallah said it is necessary for Palestinians to stop the fighting such that its repercussions would be detrimental to Palestinians in the refugee camp and the South at large.

He described the ongoing clashes as painful and called on everybody in the camp to stop the fighting.

“Anyone who can intervene, be it through a phone call or an action to stop the fighting, must do so as soon as possible.”

In the conclusion of his speech, he said, “We see in the army the basic guarantee of the unity of the land and stability,” stressing the necessity of supporting this institution that is developing, and whose soldiers are exposed to many risks.

On Saturday, clashes erupted in the camp after an assassination attempt that targeted an official in one of the militant groups in the camp called Abu Qatada, who was injured by direct gunfire.

Earlier on Sunday, clashes renewed in the camp, resulting in the killing of the commander of the Palestinian National Security Forces in Saida, Abu Ashraf Al-Armoushi, and four of his companions, bringing the number of those killed in the clashes to six.

Later, the Lebanese army confirmed that a number of soldiers were wounded by a shell that hit military barracks in the Ain Al-Hilweh refugee camp in Saida, South Lebanon.

In a statement, the Lebanese army said some of its posts and observation points came under gunfire during ongoing clashes in Ain Al-Hilweh.

Denmark Seeks “Legal Means” to Stop Desecration of Holy Books Following Global Backlash

July 31, 2023

By Staff, Agencies

The Danish government says it is looking for “legal means” to stop desecration of holy books following the vehement global backlash over sacrilegious acts against Muslims’ holy book in Denmark.

The Sunday announcement followed several incidents over the past month that featured desecration of the Holy Quran both in Denmark and Sweden with the approval of the two countries’ authorities, which drew strongly-worded condemnations from across the globe.

The sacrilegious acts also opened the floodgates of protests throughout the Muslim world, including in Iran, with all Muslim countries condemning the reprehensible profanity in the strongest terms.

Stressing that such acts of sacrilege “are deeply offensive and reckless acts committed by few individuals,” Denmark’s Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen claimed in a statement issued by Danish Foreign Ministry that “these few individuals do not represent the values the Danish society is built on.”

“The Danish government will therefore explore the possibility of intervening in special situations where, for instance, other countries, cultures, and religions are being insulted, and where this could have significant negative consequences for Denmark, not least with regard to security,” the statement said.

The ministry, however, claimed that any measure taken in this regard “must of course be done within the framework of the constitutionally protected freedom of expression … in Denmark.”

In a separate statement, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said he has been in close contact with his Danish counterpart, Mette Frederiksen, adding that a similar process is already underway in Sweden.

Following the acts of desecration, a number of Muslim countries summoned Danish and Swedish envoys to convey their strong protests to their respective governments, while recalling their own ambassadors. Iraq moved as far as cutting its diplomatic relations with Sweden, while Iran said it will not send a new ambassador to Stockholm and will not accept the Nordic country’s new envoy.

Iran also summoned Danish ambassador to Tehran in protest at desecration of the Holy Quran in Copenhagen.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation [OIC] is also expected to hold a meeting on Monday to address desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden and Denmark.

Speaking last Sunday, Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi said the green light given to desecration of the Holy Quran by the European countries was in contravention of their own claim to freedom of expression.

“Despite the [European countries’] claim to freedom of expression, the permission issued [by them] for the recent acts of desecration against the Holy Quran exemplifies ‘modern ignorance’,” the Iranian president said.

Imam Khamenei Calls for Severest Punishment for Quran Desecration

 July 22, 2023

By Staff, Agencies

Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei has called for the “severest punishment” for the perpetrator of the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden.

“Effrontery to the sacred realm of the Holy Quran in Sweden is a bitter, conspiratorial and dangerous incident. The severest punishment for the perpetrator of this crime is the consensus view of all Islamic scholars,” the Leader said in a message on Saturday.

“The Swedish government should also know that by supporting a criminal, it has taken a war stance against the Islamic world and attracted the hatred and enmity of the Muslim nations and many of their governments,” His Eminence said.

“The responsibility of that government is to hand over the perpetrator of the crime to the judicial systems of Islamic countries,” Imam Khamenei said.

“The conspirators behind the scenes should also know that the sanctity and grandeur of the Holy Qur’an will increase day by day and the lights of its guidance will become brighter,” the Leader said.

“The likes of this conspiracy and its perpetrators are too lowly to be able to prevent this ever-increasing brilliance,” His Eminence added.

The desecration of the Quran by a Christian extremist has triggered widespread protests and condemnation across the Muslim world.

The demonstrations come after Swedish police on Thursday permitted the man living in Stockholm for the second time to desecrate the Quran.

People in Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Lebanon and other countries have staged massive rallies to condemn the blasphemous act.

Stating that the insult was done with the support of the government and the police of Sweden, the Iranian senior cleric said these stupid things will not reduce the status of Islam and religion.

He added that Muslim nations should make the Swedish government regret its actions.

Ayatollah Khatami appreciated the government and people of Iraq for expelling the Swedish ambassador from their country.

Worshippers Hold Sit-ins off Lebanese Mosques in Protest of Holy Quran Desecration in Sweden

 July 21, 2023

In response to the call of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah, dozens of thousands of worshippers held sit-ins off mosques in Lebanon after performing Friday Prayers in order to protest against desecrating Holy Quran in Sweden.

Delivering a speech during the commemoration of the third night of Ashura ceremonies in the southern suburb of Beirut on Thursday, Sayyed Nasrallah called on all worshippers to hold protests after the Friday prayers off all the mosques across Lebanon and demand that the Lebanese authorities expel the Swedish ambassador and withdraw the Lebanese ambassadors from Sweden.

Mosques in Beirut’s Dahiyeh, South Lebanon and Bekaa were filled with worshippers who prayed and protested in defense of their Holy Book.

Friday sermons also concentrated on the importance of taking the necessary counter measures in order to protect the sanctity of Holy Quran.

Head of Hezbollah’s Juristic Council Sheikh Mohammad Yazbek stressed that they attack Holy Quran because they are afraid of its noble teachings.

Deputy Head of Hezbollah Executive Council Sheikh Ali Daamoush underscored the necessity of confronting Holy Quran desecration.

Vice-President of the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council, Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib denounced the crime of disrespecting Holy Quran, stressing that it comes in the context of all-out war on the Muslims.

Lebanon’s Grand Jaafarite Mufti, Sheikh Ahmad Qabalan stressed that Imam Hussein’s path is completely Quranic, underlining halting the diplomatic ties with Sweden.

Sheikh Qabalan affirmed that the offender is the enemy of Allah and the Muslims and must be punished.

Meanwhile, huge protests were held in Iran, Iraq, Sweden in rejection of Holy Quran desecration, calling for punishing the Iraqi-Swedish activist who desecrated the Sacred Book.

Exclusive: Lebanese protest Qur’an desecration in response to Nasrallah’s call

Women, men and children took part in protests on Friday across Lebanon against the desecration of the Holy Qur’an in Sweden, answering the call of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

On Thursday, during a televised speech during the Ashoura ceremonies, Sayyed Nasrallah called on all worshippers to hold protests after the Friday prayers in all the mosques across Lebanon and demand that the Lebanese authorities expel the Swedish ambassador and withdraw the Lebanese ambassadors from Sweden.

He also urged Ashoura ceremony attendees to hold a copy of the Holy Book on Friday in order to show commitment to the Qur’an and collectively read a number of verses.

A Sweden-based Iraqi refugee desecrated the Qur’an during a demonstration outside the Iraqi embassy in Stockholm on Thursday amid strict protection provided by the Swedish police. This came less than a month after the man burnt a copy of the Muslim holy book outside Stockholm Central Mosque, sparking outrage in the Muslim world.

Earlier in January, Swedish authorities gave permission for an event outside the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm where an extremist politician burned the Qur’an, Islam’s holy book. Days later, Edwin Wagensveld, Dutch leader of the far-right Pegida movement in the Netherlands, tore pages out of a copy of the Qur’an near the Dutch Parliament.

Unacceptable anti-human acts

In Lebanon, one of the many countries that have a Muslim majority, people poured onto the streets and gathered in front of mosques and Islamic centers to protest the act following the Friday prayers, which many see as “an organized crime”. There was consensus among people who spoke to the Press TV website at the demonstrations that not only are such anti-Islamic acts unacceptable under the pretext of freedom of speech and democracy, but also turning a blind eye and remaining silent on such atrocious acts is unethical. Some also went further and called the desecration “anti-human acts.”

Noha, a 42-year-old journalist and activist was present at one of the gatherings in Beirut’s southern suburbs in front of the Sayeda Zeinab mosque. She told Press TV that showing disrespect to religious beliefs should not receive any support from any government or international body.

“Some Western governments, like the case of Sweden, issue permits for these crimes under the pretext of so-called freedom of expression. The burning and tearing of religious texts is disrespectful, hurtful, and illegal. Many of my Christian and Sunni friends in Lebanon also share this viewpoint, and if someone disrespected the sanctity of some other faith I would react the same way and express my rejection of such ugly behavior,” she said.

“These are not small rallies, nor limited demonstrations. This is a real uprising against the desecration of Muslim sanctities. In Islam, we are taught to respect others, their freedoms, sanctities and privacy. We will protect our religion, we will take action as people and push for our governments to take action. The Western “civilization” based on hegemony and otherness must come to an end.”

Women, men and children participated in rallies in different areas across Lebanon, holding the Holy Qur’an in their hands and placards that read “The Holy Qur’an lives in our conscience and moral sense of right and wrong not only in our homes!”

Your freedom ends where mine begins

Speaking to the Press TV website, a Member of the Political Council of Hezbollah since 2004, Dr. Rima Fakhry said that the desecration of the holy book of Islam is a crime in the eyes of all Muslims, non-Muslims of other faiths and all the free people of the world who respect true freedom and value it.

“This is an act of aggression against the faith of a tremendous number of people across the globe, and the response should be in the size of the crime itself,” she said.

The desecration act, which is seen as provocative and ill-considered by many countries, while claimed as a right to “freedom of expression” by Sweden and other countries, cannot be tolerated by millions of Muslims and non-Muslims across the world.

Fakhry said in this regard that the act is not related whatsoever to the so-called “freedom of speech and expression” because freedom should be based on respect in the first place.

“One of the principle tenets of freedom is respect. It is the Western school of thought which claims that ‘your freedom ends where mine begins’,” she said adding “Will for instance Sweden agree to see its flag being set on fire? Or does its constitution get desecrated? I doubt.”

On women taking part in the protests on Friday in Lebanon, the Hezbollah politburo member said there is no difference between men and women, all are human beings and should sound their rejection of such violation.

“There is no difference between men and women here, both are human beings who have the right to express their refusal to see the Holy book of the Qur’an get desecrated in such an ugly manner. Believe it or not, young and old, male and female, everyone is annoyed by this act.”

Women raise copies of the Qur’an as they participate in a demonstration called for by the Lebanese Hezbollah movement to denounce the desecration of the Qur’an in Sweden, in the southern suburbs of Beirut on July 21, 2023. (Photo by AFP)

This act of desecration, according to Fakhry, comes in the context of an organized crime perpetrated by the West and guided by Zionism to weaken other peoples and faiths.

“What the West does not realize is, that by such acts, they only make us stronger, more determined, and more attached to our religion and Holy Qur’an,” she explained.

Mass protests to protect our Qur’an

Also on Friday, Khadija Salloum, head of the women’s mobilization organization in Hezbollah told Press TV that all human beings who have dignity and believe in true freedom should express their rejection of the crime against Islam and Muslims.

“These provocative acts from time to time and the desecration of sanctities, be it the Holy Qur’an, Jesus Christ, Virgin Mary or other, are unacceptable and should be condemned by all people.”

It is acceptable that some people do not believe in a certain faith, she explained, and that is something that should be respected. However, desecration is not something that can be tolerated and should be confronted by mass protests around the world.

“Freedom of speech does not mean we can disrespect others and their beliefs, be that Islam, Christianity or Judaism. These acts are driven by a desire for political power, a struggle for resources, ethnic rivalries, and economic competition because religions and faiths preserve human dignity and serve as a just constitution that keeps justice and order in societies, and this is what the West wants to sabotage,” she pointed out.

Salloum said that the act coincides with Ashoura, which is part of the Shia school of thought that teaches people how to fight injustice and face all types of tyranny and that is why the response this time should be even stronger.

Iraqi Protesters Storm Swedish Embassy in Baghdad Over Planned Quran Desecration

July 20, 2023

By Staff, Agencies

Hundreds of Iraqi protesters have stormed the Swedish embassy in the capital Baghdad and set part of it on fire in protest against the second planned desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden.

The angry protesters, who were reportedly the supporters of prominent Iraqi Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, stormed the main gates of the embassy building on Thursday, holding up copies of the Qur’an and chanting pro-Sadr slogans.

“We are mobilized today to denounce the burning of the Quran, which is all about love and faith,” a protester told AFP. “We demand that the Swedish government and the Iraqi government stop this type of initiative.”

Iraq’s Foreign Ministry condemned the torching of the Swedish embassy building in a statement, saying the Iraqi government had instructed security forces to carry out a swift investigation, identify the perpetrators and hold them to account.

Following the incident, Sweden’s Foreign Ministry announced that its embassy staff in Baghdad are “safe”.

The ministry further said Iraqi authorities have the responsibility to protect diplomatic missions and staff, adding that attacks on embassies and diplomats “constitute a serious violation of the Vienna Convention.”

The development comes as Swedish authorities have approved an assembly to be held later in the day outside the Iraqi embassy in Stockholm, where organizers plan to burn a copy of Muslims’ holy book as well as the Iraqi flag.

Two people are set to participate in the demonstration, Swedish media reported on Wednesday, adding that one of them is the same person who set a Quran on fire outside a Stockholm mosque in June.

On June 28, Salwan Momika, a 37-year-old Iraqi immigrant stomped on the Quran before setting several pages alight in front of Stockholm’s largest mosque. The insult to the Muslim holy book was made under the authorization and protection of the Swedish police.

The incident, coinciding with the start of the Muslim Eid al-Adha and the end of the annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, drew the anger of Muslims from across the world.

Sayyed Nasrallah Calls on Lebanese Gov’t to Expel Swedish Ambassador in Protest of Holy Quran Desecration

 July 20, 2023

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah tackled the renewed crime of disrespecting the Holiest Islamic Book in Sweden, saying: “We are saddened by the new heinous act of desecrating Holy Quran

Delivering a speech during the commemoration of the third night of Ashura ceremonies in the southern suburb of Beirut on Thursday, Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that selecting an Iraqi Christian to burn Holy Quran is deliberate.

All Muslims, not just the Shia, are concerned with condemning the desecration of Holy Quran, Sayyed Nasrallah said in a comment about disrespecting the photos of Iraqi and Iranian religious figures in Sweden.

Hezbollah Leader indicated that the Israeli Mossad insists on stirring sedition among Muslims and Christians in Iraq.

Counter measures

To face the blatant violation, Sayyed Nasrallah called on all worshippers to hold protest after the Friday prayers off all the mosques across Lebanon and demand that the Lebanese authorities expel the Swedish ambassador and withdraw the Lebanese ambassadors from Sweden.

His eminence also urged Ashura ceremonies attendees to hold a copy of the Holy Book on Friday in order to show commitment to Quran and collectively read a number of verses.

Politically, Sayyed Nasrallah said that over 50 Arab and Muslim states must withdraw ambassadors from Sweden and expel Swedish diplomats on order to threaten the Swedish interests, calling for public demands in this context.

Sayyed Nasrallah: 2006 July Victory Ended “Great ‘Israel’” Scheme

 July 12, 2023

Translated by Al-Ahed News, Live Coverage

Hezbollah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Nasrallah delivered on Wednesday a speech marking the 17th anniversary of the start of the July War.

At the beginning of his televised speech, Sayyed Nasrallah congratulated the Muslim world over Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Ghadir.

He then condemned the burning of the Holy Quran in Sweden, saying that “the person who burned the Holy Quran in Sweden has ties to the ‘Israeli’ Mossad”. Sayyed Nasrallah explained, “They seek to sow discord between Muslims and Christians”.

Moreover, the Resistance Leader asserted that the “Christian clergy’s condemnation to the burning of the Holy Quran contributed greatly to preventing sedition”.

His Eminence urged the peoples of the region to “pressure their governments to take a tougher stance on the issue of burning the Holy Quran”.

Sayyed Nasrallah commended Russia for its “remarkable stance on the issue of burning the Holy Quran” which he said “embarrassed Western countries”.

“The US scheme under the title “The Greater Middle East” was toppled in Lebanon and it’s topple was completed in Palestine, Iraq, Syria and Iran,” the Resistance Leader said, noting that “The ‘Israelis’ and the Americans admitted the failure of their war on Lebanon in 2006 on more than one level”.

Regarding the 2006 July War, Sayyed Nasrallah said “The goal of the 2006 ‘Israeli’ aggression was to crush the Resistance and subjugate Lebanon”. However, “the July Victory laid the foundations for a deterrence equation that still exists today, while the ‘Israeli’ enemy suffers an erosion of deterrence at its side,” he added.

Elsewhere in his speech, His Eminence highlighted that, “The peace and security that the South Lebanon enjoys resulted from the people’s confidence in the effectiveness of the existing deterrence, while ‘Israel’ lives the horror”.

The Resistance Leader underlined the fact that, “The ‘Israeli’ enemy was seeking by all means to prevent the strengthening of the resistance in Lebanon and did not succeed in that despite all the circumstances”.

“A large part of the terror that the settlers suffer in northern occupied Palestine is caused by the ‘Israeli’ media, which exaggerates matters, thinking that it is waging a psychological war on us,” Sayyed Nasrallah clarified.

He went on to say, “The ‘Israeli’ aim from its aggression on Jenin was to restore deterrence, but they got a completely opposite result”.

Explaining “Israeli” failure in Occupied Palestine, His Eminence said, “The evidence for the failure of the ‘Israeli’ aggression is the Palestinian Resistance’s continuous operations in the West Bank”.

Also in his speech, Sayyed Nasrallah said, “The victory in the July 2006 War set ‘Israel’ on the line of decline,” noting that “The 2006 July Victory ended the ‘Great “Israel”’ scheme”.

His Eminence commended on the Resistance’s “strategic achievement” saying that it “has been preserved for 17 years and it has been developed”.

Regarding the incidents on the Lebanese border with occupied Palestine, Sayyed Nasrallah explained, “The ‘Israeli’ occupation erected a barbed wire fence around the Lebanese village of Ghajar before the Resistance set up tents at the border”.

The Resistance Leader pointed to the international community’s double standards. He said, “The international community remained silent over all the ‘Israeli’ border aggressions, but it quickly moved after the Resistance set up a tent at the border”.

He continued on the issue, “We set our tent on a Lebanese land, recognized by the Lebanese state,” adding, “the international mediations started after the tent was erected”.

Concerning the border incident today [Wednesday], Sayyed Nasrallah gave no details and urged to wait “for our brothers’ report on the events that took place today at the border, so we can act based on the facts”.

Moreover, the Resistance Leader said, “‘Israel’ has not dared to carry out a military act against the tent,” while also saying, “What is happening in Southern Lebanon is not a demarcation to the land borders, but rather an effort to restore the lands occupied by the ‘Israeli’ enemy”.

“We can restore the Lebanese part of Ghajar from the ‘Israeli’ occupation, and this land will not be left,” His Eminence assured.

He further said, “The Lebanese stance on Ghajar must be decisive and this is Lebanese territory,” noting that, “The efforts of the state and the Resistance will be integrated. This land will not be given up to the ‘Israelis’”.

Also in his speech, Sayyed Nasrallah tackled the internal political issue. He said, “The talk that Hezbollah seeks a cancelation to the Taif Agreement and parity between Muslims and Christians is an intentional and misleading lie”.

His Eminence noted, “Hezbollah won’t invest its strength to impose political choices on the Lebanese, and the resistance’s weapon is to defend and protect Lebanon”.

“Lebanon has no interest in transforming the Resistance into an official institution directly affiliated with the state,” he said highlighting the fact that “The advocates of sovereignty are the ones talking about federalism and about changing Lebanon’s structure”.

Relatedly, His Eminence warned that “Hezbollah’s arms is the biggest favor to ‘Israel’”.

On the issue of the presidential elections, Sayyed Nasrallah said, “The personality of the next President of the Republic is essential for us regarding the issue of protecting of the Resistance”.

The Resistance Leader praised the courage of former President Emile Lahoud saying, “The former President of the Republic, Emile Lahoud, was fighting battles in the cabinet to protect the Resistance”.

However, he also praised President Michel Aoun and said that he “didn’t stab the Resistance’s back, and we trusted him as he secured the back of the Resistance during his presidency”.

“We are a large segment of the Lebanese people and we have the right to set our view regarding the characteristics of the president,” Sayyed Nasrallah continued.

His Eminence also said, “Minister Suleiman Franjieh has our confidence as a candidate for the presidency who won’t stab the resistance in its back”.

The Resistance Leader urged the Lebanese parties that only through dialogue that the problem of electing a president would be solved.

“It is true that we will come to the dialogue table with a single name, Suleiman Franjieh, but we will hold discussions,” he said on the issue, adding, “Put the issue of the Resistance aside. We won’t use the force of the Resistance to impose anything inside the country”.

Sayyed Nasrallah recalled that “Some inside the Free Patriotic Movement wanted us to impose General Michel Aoun as president following the May 17 incidents”.

He concluded his speech by asserting, “Our choice is partnership and cooperation because Lebanon can only survive by this view”.

Global Outcry: Quran Burning Sparks Protests, Iraq Calls for Immigrant’s Extradition

July 1, 2023

The Foreign Ministry of Iraq has formally requested that Sweden extradite an Iraqi man who publicly burned a copy of the Quran outside a mosque in Stockholm.

The purpose of the extradition is to subject the individual to the legal proceedings in Iraq, as stated by the country’s laws.

In a phone conversation on Friday, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein made this request to his Swedish counterpart, Tobias Billstrom, according to an official statement released by the ministry.

Minister Hussein emphasized that the act of burning the Quran goes beyond the boundaries of freedom of speech. He argued that such actions not only promote violence but also contribute to the rise of Islamophobia. Furthermore, he expressed the global impact of this offensive act, which has deeply hurt the sentiments of Muslims worldwide.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry urges the Swedish government to take the necessary measures to facilitate the transfer of the Iraqi immigrant to Baghdad, where he will be subjected to legal proceedings in accordance with Iraqi law. Ahmed al-Sahhaf, the spokesman for the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, stated, “The individual who desecrated the Holy Quran is an Iraqi citizen. Therefore, we demand that the Swedish government extradite him to Iraq for trial under Iraqi law.”

The incident occurred on Wednesday when Salwan Momika, a 37-year-old Iraqi immigrant, openly stomped on the Quran and set several pages on fire outside Stockholm’s largest mosque. It is important to note that the act was carried out with the consent and protection of the Swedish police.

This incident, which coincided with the start of the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha and the conclusion of the annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, has sparked outrage among Muslims worldwide.

As a response to the incident, the Swedish Ambassador to Iraq, Jessica Svardstrom, was summoned to the Iraqi Foreign Ministry on Thursday. During the meeting, the ministry expressed a firm protest regarding the incident and emphasized that no legal or freedom of speech justifications can justify the desecration of sacred objects.

Protests in Iraq, Other Muslim Countries

In response to the Quran burning incident, a significant number of Iraqis gathered near the Swedish embassy in Baghdad to express their outrage. They demanded the expulsion of the Swedish ambassador as a form of protest against this disrespectful act.

Similar demonstrations occurred in various Muslim countries as people took to the streets to voice their condemnation of the incident.

The individual responsible for the offensive act stated in an interview with a Swedish newspaper on Thursday that he intends to repeat his protest in July.

It is noteworthy that Sweden has witnessed multiple instances of Quran burnings in recent years. In January, a right-wing extremist from Sweden and Denmark burned a copy of the Quran in close proximity to the Turkish embassy in Stockholm.

EU Strongly Condemns Quran Burning Incident

The European Union (EU) has issued a resolute condemnation of the recent Quran burning outside a mosque in Stockholm, describing it as a “clear act of provocation.”

In a statement released on Saturday, the EU expressed its disapproval of this offensive and disrespectful act, emphasizing that it does not reflect the views of the bloc as a whole. The EU firmly stated that manifestations of racism, xenophobia, and related forms of intolerance have no place in Europe.

The statement reiterated the EU’s commitment to upholding freedom of religion or belief and freedom of expression, both within its member states and on an international scale. It stressed the need for unity, mutual understanding, and respect in order to prevent any further escalation of tensions.

The EU also acknowledged the timing of the incident, noting that the act was particularly offensive as it occurred during the celebration of Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, observed by Muslims worldwide.

Muslim Fury over Quran Burning, Hezbollah Says Swedish Authorities ‘Complicit’

 June 29, 2023

Two men impudently burning a copy of holy Quran outside a mosque in Stockholm (Wednesday, June 28, 2023).

Hezbollah firmly denounced on Thursday burning of the holy Quran in Stockholm, lashing out at Swedish authorities for being “complicit in such crime.”

In a statement, Hezbollah Media Relations stressed that continuous desecration of Quran in Sweden and other countries is unacceptable, warning that the Lebanese resistance group won’t keep mum on such violations.

“Swedish authorities are complicit and partners in this crime as they greenlighted such move despite the fact that they previously knew about the perpetrators’ intention to desecrate the holy Quran.”

Hezbollah flags raised in south Lebanon (photo from archive).

“Swedish Government has to stop this grim downward trajectory instead of arguing about the so-called ‘freedom of speech’ and other bombastic mottos,” read the Hezbollah statement, carried by Al-Manar.

The Lebanese resistance group, meanwhile, called on Muslim governments and bodies to take all appropriate moves “in order to prevent the repetition of such follies and to put an end to hatred speech.”

Earlier on Wednesday, two men and burned a copy of the Quran outside the Swedish capital of Stockholm’s central mosque, in a repeated and state-authorized instance of sacrilege against the Muslim holy book.

The move came following a go-ahead given to them by a Swedish court. It also coincided with the Muslim festivity of Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice), which marks the conclusion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage that is partaken by millions of Muslims from across the world.

Muslim Countries Decry Desecration of Quran

The Quran burning in Stockholm drew wide condemnations by Arab and Muslim countries.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran outside Stockholm Central Mosque.

The OIC warned on Thursday in a statement about the dangers and consequences of such actions, which are in contradiction to current efforts to develop coexistence and moderation.

Emphasizing the need to stick to international charters and regulations concerning respect for human rights, the OIC called on nations and governments to take the necessary measures to prevent repetition of such hideous actions.

According to the OIC statement, fundamental freedoms must be respected, regardless of religion, language, race, and nationality.

On Wednesday, an extremist protected by the Swedish authorities and police tore and burned a copy of the Holy Quran in front of nearly 200 Muslims outside the main mosque in the Swedish capital.

Certain European countries have been the scene of violations and desecration of Muslim sanctuaries in recent years.

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Thursday, in which it strongly condemned the move as unacceptable.

“These hateful and repeated acts cannot be accepted with any justification, as they clearly incite hatred, exclusion, and racism, and directly contradict international efforts seeking to spread the values of tolerance, moderation, and rejection of extremism, and undermine the necessary mutual respect for relations between peoples and states,” the statement read.

For its part, Iran lashed out at the government of Sweden for granting consent to desecration of the Muslim holy book.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani denounced in the strongest terms the Swedish government’s “move to authorize the repetition of such act of sacrilege by Sweden-based Islamophobes, who have similarly insulted the holy book on several occasions in the past.”

Nasser Kanaani, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

“Acts of insult against holy books serve as an instance of inclination towards aggression and hatemongering, and counter authentic human rights values,” the spokesperson noted, as quoted by Tasnim news agency.

Stockholm, he concluded, “is advised to prevent the repetition of acts of insult against international sanctities in the future, and pay serious attention to the principles of responsibility and accountability in this regard.”

Turkey also denounced the desecration of holy Quran, with speculations that Stockholm’s move to greenlight the anti-Islam move may jeopardize Sweden’s bid to join NATO before the bloc’s key summit in July.

Turkey’s foreign minister condemned the protest on Wednesday, calling it a “heinous act.”

“It is unacceptable to allow these anti-Islamic actions under the pretext of freedom of expression. To turn a blind eye to such heinous acts is to be complicit in them,” Hakan Fidan said in a statement.

The Turkish government’s Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun added in a tweet: “We are sick and tired of enabling of Islamophobia and continued instances of hatred for our religion on the part of European authorities especially in Sweden.”

Lebanese Foreign Ministry, meanwhile, condemned the move in strongest terms, stressing that this “repeated act is an aggression on Muslim sanctities and a provocation to their feelings.”

Morocco, for its part, summoned the Chargé d’Affairs of the Embassy of Sweden in Rabat, and the Ambassador of the Moroccan King in Stockholm for consultations in the wake of the provocative move in Stockholm.

“This act of hostility is irresponsible and shows disregard to the feelings of more than a billion Muslims in this holy period that coincides with the Hajj season and Eid Al-Adha,” a circular distributed by the Embassy of Morroco in Lebanon stated on Thursday.

Syria has condemned in the strongest terms the disgraceful act of insulting the Holy Quran on the morning of Eid al-Adha by an extremist with the permission and approval of the Swedish government.

“The Syrian Arab Republic condemns in the strongest terms the disgraceful act of insulting the Holy Quran in the morning of the holiest day for millions of Muslims by an extremist with the permission and approval of the Swedish government,” an official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said in a statement to SANA.

“This crime, apart from offending the feelings of millions of Muslims and the sentiments of love and respect between religions, unequivocally illustrates the immoral level to which Western governments have descended, and the hypocrisy and lies of the values they claim, which have not been reached even by the most extreme groups that are very far from the humanitarian and spiritual values”, the sources added.

The source added that “Western governments, which suffer from the complex of civilizational superiority, must stop spreading and fueling feelings of hatred among peoples, and know that the freedom of some stops at the limits of others’ freedom and the respect for their feelings, and therefore they cannot in any way justify their crime by attacking the Holy Quran.”

The Russian State Duma voted on Thursday to condemn the Swedish authorities’ permitting of a demonstration in Stockholm at which the Quran was burned on the major Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.

“State Duma members resolutely condemn yet another act of desecration, which was approved by the Swedish authorities, and call on them to take measures to prevent any human rights violations or insults to the religious feelings of Muslims,” the lower house of Russia’s parliament said in a statement.

According to the statement, such actions “may incite extremist manifestations as they grossly violate the goals and principles of the United Nations Charter.”

Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin had previously initiated the drafting of such a statement. The senior Russian lawmaker expressed the opinion that parliamentarians should not refrain from discussing the issue, as long as European nations “infringe on fundamental human rights.” He denounced the violation of believers’ rights on the festive day for Muslims, calling it inadmissible. “Can you imagine this happening in enlightened Europe, as they are so fond of calling it?” he asked rhetorically.

US planted explosives that destroyed Nord Stream, claims Seymour Hersh

8 Feb 2023

Source: Agencies

By Al Mayadeen English

Acclaimed investigative journalist and Pulitzer prize winner Seymour Hersh reports that the United States was behind the explosions that destroyed Nord Stream.

An account holding the name of famed US investigative journalist and Pulitzer award winner Seymour Hersh said on Wednesday that US Navy divers planted explosives to destroy the Nord Stream pipelines last year.

“Last June, the Navy divers, operating under the cover of a widely publicized mid-summer NATO exercise known as BALTOPS 22, planted the remotely triggered explosives that, three months later, destroyed three of the four Nord Stream pipelines, according to a source with direct knowledge of the operational planning,” Hersh wrote in his Substack newsletter.

The White House responded and dismissed the claims as “false and complete fiction.”

Hersh later confirmed to the Russian news agency Sputnik that he authored the investigative report in question.

“Of course,” Hersh told Sputnik when asked whether he authored the article published on a Substack account created shortly before its publication.

Flightradar24 data showed in late September that US military helicopters habitually and on numerous occasions circled for hours over the site of the Nord Stream pipeline incident near Bornholm Island.

A US Navy Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk helicopter spent hours loitering over the location of the damaged natural gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea near Bornholm for several days in a row, September 1, 2, and 3, in particular.

According to the article, the United States decided to sabotage the pipelines after a lengthy debate that lasted more than nine months inside the US national security community.

“Last June, the Navy divers, operating under the cover of a widely publicized mid-summer NATO exercise known as BALTOPS 22, planted the remotely triggered explosives that, three months later, destroyed three of the four Nord Stream pipelines, according to a source with direct knowledge of the operational planning,” the report read.

The revelation of the report prompted Moscow to ask the United States to comment, saying it had repeatedly said that the United States and NATO member states were involved in the explosions at Nord Stream, according to Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova.

“We have repeatedly stated Russia’s position on the involvement of the United States and NATO, noting that they did not hide it, bragging to the whole world about their intention to destroy the civilian infrastructure through which Europe received Russian energy resources,” Zakharova said.

“We have also regularly underscored the reluctance of Denmark, Germany, and Sweden to conduct an open investigation and the opposition to Russia’s participation in it. And this is despite the fact that our country has suffered huge costs. Now, the White House should comment on all these facts,” she added.

The explosions occurred on September 26 at three of the four strings of Nord Stream 1 and 2 underwater pipelines, which are designed to transport a total of 110 billion cubic meters of Russian gas to Europe each year.

Separate investigations were launched by Germany, Denmark, and Sweden into the suspected sabotage, with German media reporting trust issues among the three EU nations. The Russian prosecutor’s office announced an investigation into possible international terrorism.

However, Denmark and Sweden have barred Russia from investigating the attack. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said this exclusion highlighted the West’s double standards.

Moreover, the German investigators probing the explosions that hit Russia’s Nord Stream pipelines do not have any evidence at hand proving that Russia is behind the catastrophic blasts that took place in the Baltic Sea in September 2022, German Attorney General Peter Frank said on Saturday Die Welt reported.

Frank revealed that two research ships took water and soil samples, as well as samples from the remains of the pipelines, noting that the whole incident was “comprehensively documented”. “We are currently evaluating all of this forensically.”

Additionally, Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin said Denmark does not provide any information on the progress and results of the investigation into the explosions at the Nord Stream gas pipelines, which raises concerns.

Barbin said that the Danish side is currently not providing any information on the progress and results of the investigation into gas pipeline sabotage.

With the anniversary of the Ukraine war nearing, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was asked about Russia’s plans to mark this date. The Foreign Minister noted that there were many things that need to be remembered and demonstrated that would depict how the US establishes its hegemony.

“We are preparing a sort of a report of what happened this year, what we managed to discover, and this is not only the US military biological programs, from which they are trying to disown, they lie, as always, and not only the direct participation of the United States in the explosions at Nord Stream,” Lavrov said.

Lavrov said that the statements made by Victoria Nuland, the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, concerning the Nord Stream pipeline explosions show that Washington was complicit in the incident.

Nuland said that “the [US] administration is very gratified to know that Nord Stream 2” would no longer be operational.

Russian President Vladimir Putin blamed the situation on the West. “It’s clear to everyone who benefits from this. And the one who benefits from this is the one who did it,” Putin stressed at the time.

Sayyed Al-Houthi: Quran Burning Amounts to Declaration of War Against Muslim World

 January 29, 2023

By Staff, Agencies

The leader of Yemen’s Ansarullah resistance movement has severely censured the desecration of the Holy Quran by a far-right Swedish-Danish politician in Stockholm and Copenhagen, terming the sacrilegious move as a declaration of war against the Muslim world.

Addressing a ceremony in the Yemeni capital city of Sanaa on Friday evening, Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi stated that the spread of Islam in European and Western societies has been a source of constant worry for enemies of Islam, and prompted anti-Islam individuals to set fire to the copies of the Muslim holy book in a show of desperation.

He stressed that the burning of the Holy Quran in European countries falls within the framework of their hostile war on human societies, and their efforts to distance societies from Quran, and create animosity towards Islam.

On Friday, Swedish-Danish right-wing extremist Rasmus Paludan torched copies of the Holy Quran near a mosque and outside the premises of the Turkish Embassy in the Danish capital Copenhagen.

Paludan had already infuriated the Muslim world by staging a Quran-burning protest in Sweden’s capital Stockholm on Jan. 21. The right-wing extremist has vowed to continue the stunt every Friday until Sweden is admitted into the US-led NATO.

“The burning of the Holy Quran is not justifiable by any means. It is considered a hostile, criminal and profane action against all holy books,” Houthi said.

The Ansarullah chief noted, “Oppressors are trying to put up a barrier between world nations and the Quran, because they view it as the biggest danger for themselves and the biggest savior for human beings.”

“Burning of the Holy Quran and declaring enmity towards it and Islam amount to a blatant disrespect for all Muslims. Such an approach also attests to the extent of satanic forces’ anger towards Quran and their weakness in the face of the sacred book,” he noted.

Houthi went on to condemn the burning of the Holy Quran as the gravest act of hostility against Islam and Muslims, emphasizing that the pro-Zionist lobby stands at the forefront of the aggressive campaign against Islam, Quran and Muslims.

“Satanic forces try to perpetrate grievous sins and despicable crimes in the name of freedom of thought and speech, and enlist political and legal support for them,” the leader of the Ansarullah movement said.

Yemenis Take to the Streets of Saada to Denounce Sweden’s Crime Against Muslims

January 24, 2023

By Al-Ahed News

Yemenis held a massive rally in Saada to protest against the Swedish permission to burn a Holy Quran edition, calling to boycott Stockholm and expel its ambassadors from all Muslim countries.

A statement issued after the march slammed “the crime of burning copies of the Holy Quran in Sweden,” labelling the measure as “hostile in the series of war against Islam and Muslims.”

The statement further accused the western-controlled Zionist lobby of standing behind the crime of burning copies of the Holy Quran, and called on “the western leaders and the international community to liberate themselves from the Zionist Judaism and to stop insulting the prophets, their books, and fighting their teachings.”

The protesters also demanded in their statement an official apology from the Swedish government as well as to hold the criminals accountable. “We call for boycotting Sweden and expelling its ambassadors from the Muslim countries for its criminal behavior against the sanctities.”

In the same context, Yemen’s Ansarullah resistance movement strongly condemned on Sunday the crime that took place in Sweden, describing “the anti-Islam behavior in the west as reflecting the ethical and political bankruptcy of the western governments.”

Relatively, the Sanaa government foreign ministry denounced the burning of the Holy Quran.

Additionally, several other countries slammed the Swedish decision to permit the burning of a copy of the Holy Quran, and warned against inciting Muslims all across the world.

Why is Russia Set to Tolerate Türkey’s Attempt to Launch a ‘Small, Victorious War’ in Syria?

As Erdogan reportedly plans his own “special military operation,” Moscow has good reasons to value a stable partnership with Ankara

Earlier this week, Reuters quoted senior officials in Ankara as saying that the Turkish army had completed preparations for a ground incursion in Syria.

“It won’t take long for the operation to begin,” one of the agency’s sources was quoted as saying in the article. “It depends only on the president giving the word.”

Strictly speaking, news of Türkiye’s potential offensive is a bit delayed. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced plans for it back in May, when it was supposed to start any day, but never did. The main goal Ankara has declared is to fight against Kurdish self-defense units, which, according to the Turkish side, are a very serious security threat.

However, in six months of waiting for strikes against the Syrian Kurds, Türkiye has managed to conduct a ground operation against the Iraqi Kurds and even almost started a war with Greece and Cyprus (the probability of this is certainly low, but in 2022 such scenarios are not impossible.)

The Turks even managed to carry out an air operation against the Kurds in Syria – the reason for this was a terrorist attack in Istanbul, which Türkiye blamed on the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (KWP). After the tragedy, Turkish authorities looked a bit like a shipwreck in a storm: they indirectly blamed not only the KWP for what had happened. Damascus and – remarkably – Washington were also dragged in into the frame.

The allegation was that the mastermind of the attack, Syrian citizen Ahlam al-Bashir was, according to Turkish security forces, trained by American instructors in territory controlled by the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

In fact, that is why a joint base of the Western coalition and the SDF, where there was also US military personnel, was among the 89 targets of the strikes. Interestingly, the White House was not particularly outraged.

The forthcoming “ground operation” in northern Syria will be nothing new for Turkish troops – Ankara conducts them regularly, declaring the successful completion of its goals each time, but for some reason, it has failed to completely eliminate the “Kurdish threat.”

Nevertheless, there are many reasons for postponing such an event.

First and foremost, Erdogan wants to avoid clashing with Russian interests: Moscow is a reliable partner to President Bashar Assad, and its support has been pretty much the key factor that has allowed the Syrian leader to remain in power.

The Turkish president’s statements in this regard are very revealing: last Sunday he said that he did not rule out the restoration and normalization of relations with Damascus in the future.

There is no room for hard feelings in politics,” Erdogan explained.

Formally, of course, any operation would be a violation of Syrian sovereignty but, Assad’s forces have little control over the territories in question. At the same time, however, Russian officials have also warned their Turkish counterparts that such a move would hardly contribute to stability in the region.

These arguments are unlikely to calm the fervor of the Sultan – the fact is that the military campaign in this case is a prologue to his re-election campaign. Next year Türkiye will choose its next president, and there is no success to boast of in the domestic arena, where a prolonged economic crisis accompanied by record inflation creates fertile ground for the opposition. Erdogan is therefore forced to compensate for the lack of bread by looking to capitalize on pride in his country.

But even here he tries to be careful, only gently tugging at America’s beard. Take, for example, the epic tale of Sweden and Finland’s bid to join NATO.

Here it is important to note the context: Stockholm recently gained a new government, and Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson commenting in parliament on the bombing of Kurdish formations in Syria, stated that “Türkiye has the right to self-defense.” He also touched upon another important issue, which Ankara considers crucial for accepting new members into the US-led military bloc: Kristersson stressed that Sweden should not be a safe haven for terrorist organizations. Apparently, he was referring to KWP supporters, whose extradition is demanded by Ankara. His predecessor, Magdalena Andersson, was far less accommodating on this issue.

Of course, time is on Erdogan’s side here, which explains the message to Scandinavian politicians from his Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, who said that Sweden and Finland still have hurdles to jump before joining NATO.

The Turkish president is very good at bargaining, and even when conducting actions that run counter to the interests of his partners – both the US and Russia – he skillfully uses attractive concessions to smooth things over.

The main thing in this situation is to understand that Moscow and Ankara are not allies, but partners and neighbors with many overlapping interests that need to be considered. Something which is part of the multipolar world that both countries hope to help build.

And of course, an independent, and at least relatively stable Türkiye is a far better option for Russia than one obedient to Washington.
