Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah affirmed that the Lebanese front continues, in various forms and methods, its operations in support of the Resistance in the Gaza Strip and imposes its own rules of engagement.

In a speech delivered on the eighth anniversary of the martyrdom of Commander Mustafa Badreddine, Sayyed Nasrallah underlined that the continuation of the Lebanese Resistance’s operations and the Gaza front is “a settled matter not open for discussion.”

He stressed that the entire world “has accepted this fact,” adding that this is why the Americans conveyed to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that there is no solution for the Northern front without a ceasefire in Gaza.

The Resistance leader addressed the settlers in northern occupied Palestine, who are eager to return to their settlements, calling on them to pressure their government to end the aggression on the Gaza Strip.

‘Israel’ hits a brick

Sayyed Nasrallah explained that evaluating the results of the war requires assessing the battlefield and not relying on Israeli claims about victory, indicating that “there is a consensus on the failure in Israel.”

He also pointed out that even allies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mock him when he says he is “one step away from victory,” emphasizing that the issue “is not limited only to Israeli failure to achieve objectives but to more strategic losses.”

The Resistance leader touched on Israeli opinion polls regarding confidence in “Israel” as a “state” and in its army, highlighting that at least 30% of settlers believe that “Israel” is uninhabitable.

The Hezbollah chief considered that the “real achievement” is the failure of “Israel”, backed by the West, to retrieve its captives or achieve victory, not to mention its inability to protect its ships from missiles launched from thousands of kilometers away.

Sayyed Nasrallah added that the “image of deterrence” within the Israeli occupation entity is declining, especially after Iran’s Operation True Promise.

In the same context, he mentioned that senior Israeli generals say that Netanyahu, through his insistence on war, “is leading us to the abyss,” noting that Israelis also speak of “daily attrition in Gaza, in the support fronts, and in the economy.”

He added that “Israel” fears withdrawing from Gaza because that would mean its defeat, which comprises a disaster for the entity, indicating that the Israeli leadership “has no vision for the day after the war.”

In light of this, Sayyed Nasrallah asserted that the Israeli occupation is “facing a dead end and is searching for any image of victory,” pointing out that “Netanyahu wants to invade Rafah to escape the image of defeat.”

As for the mediators’ proposal that Hamas agreed to, Sayyed Nasrallah said that it surprised Netanyahu because it meant his defeat and victory for Hamas (because it fulfilled Hamas’ demands).

Therefore, “the Israeli occupation has two options, either return to the mediators’ document, which means defeat for Israel, or pursue the [war of] attrition,” he maintained.

‘US deception should not trick anyone’

In a different yet related context, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah spoke about the continued US support for the Israeli occupation in its war on Gaza, stressing that “even if the United States stops an arms deal bound for Israel, it will re-allow it as this constitutes an American deception because what is happening is nothing more than a tactical dispute between the United States and Israel.”

“These theatrics that we are witnessing nowadays should not deceive anyone, as Washington stands with Israel [no matter what],” he stressed.

Furthermore, Sayyed Nasrallah maintained that what happened at the United Nations and the International Court platforms confirms the US’ continuous, unabating support for “Israel” and that the US position has not changed at all.

Related News

Sayyed Nasrallah also pointed out that one of the most significant results of the war is “Israel’s” acknowledgment that it did not achieve victory, highlighting that 70% of Israeli settlers are demanding the resignation of the Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi.

He also emphasized that Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, the resilience of the people, and the images of the blood of children and women in Gaza and southern Lebanon have shown the true colors of “Israel”.

Sayyed Nasrallah reiterated that among the goals of the Palestinian Resistance and the Axis of Resistance declared since the beginning of Al-Aqsa Flood battles was to revive the Palestinian cause, remind the world of forgotten Palestine, and uphold the rights of its people inside the occupied territories and in the diaspora.

“The most important scene that reflects the victory of the Resistance is when the Israeli #UN delegate raised a picture of the leader Yahya al-Sinwar,” he maintained.

Sayyed Nasrallah pointed out that, since the start of Al-Aqsa Flood, the Palestinian cause is now the talk of the town worldwide, including at the United Nations, where most countries demand a ceasefire.

The Secretary-General of Hezbollah also touched on the protests taking place at universities in the United States and across Europe, confirming that these protests, bearing the name of Palestine, “are the fruit of October 7 and following events.”

He mentioned that some Arab rulers were about to sign the death certificate of the Palestinian cause through normalizing ties with the Israeli occupation, which was looming in the coming months.

He also noted that some Arab regimes and media outlets are now promoting the Israeli occupation entity as “the only democratic state” in the region.

US, EU hindering Syrian refugees return

On the internal Lebanese front, and specifically regarding the file of Syrian refugees, Hezbollah’s Secretary-General confirmed that there is a “consensus to address the issue,” explaining that the meeting of the Lebanese Parliament, next Wednesday, is “an opportunity to present practical proposals” to this end.

Sayyed Nasrallah pointed out that everyone is in favor of the return of Syrian refugees to their country, with the exception of some non-governmental organizations, which means that “the main obstacle standing in the way of the return of Syrian refugees to their country is the US along with the EU.”

In this context, Sayyed Nasrallah recalled his visit to Syria where he met, years ago, with the Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, who encouraged the return of the refugees to al-Qusayr, stressing that “those who were preventing them from doing so were the EU-funded organizations.”

The Lebanese Resistance leader considered that “it is inevitable to communicate with the Syrian government to ensure the return of refugees,” stressing that a delegation must be formed to visit countries, such as the United States, in order to convince them of the need for their return.

He also called for “taking a Lebanese national stance to open the sea for the voluntary departure of Syrian refugees to Europe,” explaining that this is when the West and the EU “will rush to Lebanon and pay 20 billion dollars instead of one” to prevent so when such a decision is made.

“When we are our own masters and not slaves and we possess the elements of power, that is when we can impose our conditions on the enemy,” Sayyed Nasrallah affirmed.

He also emphasized that Syria is capable of getting back on its feet within a few years once the sanctions imposed on it are lifted.

Syria’s stance regarding Palestine firm, consistent

Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that they wanted to force Syria, through the global war waged on it, into the American grip or into a civil war, stressing that it had “come out of the war and still maintains its [original] position, despite the siege and the difficult conditions” imposed on it.

The Lebanese Resistance leader also indicated that Damascus’ stance regarding the Palestinian cause is firm and consistent, affirming that the goal behind Hezbollah’s engagement in the war in Syria was to keep the country within the Axis of Resistance.

Regarding the occasion, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah confirmed that Martyr Sayyed Mustafa Badreddine deserved a medal for every walk of his life as a freedom fighter and a combatant, as a wounded individual, as a captive, as a commander, as an achiever, and as a martyr.

Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that Martyr Badreddine “is present across all battlefields, as is the case with all martyrs, especially the leaders,” explaining that the Resistance that is fighting today is “a cumulative result of the past and present leaders and fighters and those who will join in, any time in the future.”

A systematic effort appears underway to silence Dr. Abu Sitta for his vocal condemnation of Israeli atrocities with Berlin authorities forcefully barring his entry into the country in April to attend a conference.

Renowned British-Palestinian doctor and humanitarian, Ghassan Abu Sitta, who volunteered in Gaza hospitals during the first weeks of the Israeli genocide, was reportedly barred from entering France while at Charles De Gaulle Airport.

Abu Sitta, scheduled to speak before the French Senate, expressed frustration as authorities cited a purported one-year ban imposed by Germany on his entry to Europe.

In a social media post, he said, “I am at Charles De Gaule airport. They are preventing me from entering France. I am supposed to speak at the French Senate today. They say the Germans put a 1 year ban on my entry to Europe.”

In another post, Abu Sitta lamented what he described as “Fortress Europe” silencing witnesses to the ongoing genocide, while “Israel” continues to target and kill them even within prison walls.

Simultaneously, human rights activist Salah Hamouri affirmed to Al Mayadeen that Dr. Ghassan Abu Sitta was informed at Charles De Gaulle Airport of a German decision to prohibit his entry. Hamouri further stated that Dr. Abu Sitta has been notified of a comprehensive ban on his entry to European countries. In further detail, he informed Al Mayadeen that Abu Sitta’s phone had been seized.

The detention of Dr. Abu Sitta, as reported by Hamouri, comes in the wake of Germany’s recent decision to bar him from entering the Schengen area for one year.

In April, authorities in Berlin raided a conference titled the Palestine Congress, where Dr. Abu Sitta was scheduled to participate, abruptly cutting off electricity and terminating the weekend-long event.

The conference was aimed at addressing various issues, such as German arms exports to “Israel” and expressions of solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

Dr. Abu Sitta reported that after prolonged questioning, the German government forcefully barred his entry into the country.

Slow death, no anesthesia; Abu Sitta recalls horrors he saw in Gaza

Palestinian doctor Ghassan Abu Sitta spent 43 days under fire in Gaza. What he witnessed during his voluntary work in the besieged Strip’s hospitals left him with a lot to tell about the Israeli atrocities committed against civilians.

When he left Gaza because he could no longer perform surgeries due to a shortage of medical equipment, he decided to advocate for the Strip through other means.

Speaking to AFP last January, Abu Sitta detailed the testimony he provided to the British police regarding attacks against civilians and the types of weapons used, hoping it would lead to trials for war crimes.

The results of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, where Abu Sitta arrived on October 9 as part of the Doctors Without Borders team, surpassed the horrors of all the wars he had worked in before, including Gaza, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and southern Lebanon.

“It’s like the difference between a flood and a tsunami; the scale is entirely different,” he expressed, emphasizing the large number of casualties, martyred children, the magnitude of the disaster, and the intensive bombings, causing the Gaza healthcare system to be overwhelmed within days of the war’s start.

The Palestinian doctor pointed out that from the beginning, the capacity was lower than the number of patients that had to be treated, adding that doctors had to make difficult decisions about whom to treat.

He recounted the case of a 40-year-old man with a head shrapnel injury who needed X-rays and examination by a neurosurgeon, but those were not available as told to the patient’s family who stayed around the stretcher he was placed on that night until his martyrdom in the morning.

Anesthesia and painkillers quickly ran out in hospitals, forcing Abu Sitta to perform painful cleaning procedures for wounds on injured individuals without the possibility of relieving their pain. He made it clear that this was the only available option, or else see the wounded succumb to widespread inflammation in the blood.

Abu Sitta also confirmed that he treated people with burns caused by white phosphorus, which is prohibited by international law, explaining that it is an injury that can be distinguished from other injuries and that phosphorus continues to burn into the deeper parts of the body until it reaches the bones.

Since leaving Gaza, the Palestinian doctor has spent most of his time alerting political leaders and humanitarian organizations to the genocide in the Gaza Strip. In this regard, he said that he is trying to help the patients in Gaza as much as he can by conveying their voices abroad.

He also noted that he informed the London police about the injuries he witnessed, the types of weapons used, and the use of white phosphorus, as well as the attacks against civilians.

Elsewhere, Abu Sitta, who narrated how he survived the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital massacre on October 17, concluded by stressing that “ultimately, justice will reach these individuals, after five or ten years, or when they are in their eighties when the balance of power in the world allows justice for the Palestinians.”

Multiple Palestinian Resistance factions put out statements on Land Day, commemorating this year’s event, which coincides with Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.

The Islamic Resistance Movement – Hamas affirmed that Operation Al-Aqsa Flood is an extension of the Palestinian people’s struggle to achieve their legitimate rights, liberation of their land, and return to their homeland.

Hamas made these remarks in a statement released on the Palestinian Land Day, which is commemorated on March 30. The movement released a five-point paper, detailing its outlook for the future of the Palestinian cause on this day.

First, Hamas stressed that Palestine’s historic land, with its capital al-Quds and the holy al-Aqsa Mosque, is the core cause of the struggle with the “Zionist enemy”, adding that the only way to liberate Palestine is through consolidating acts of “comprehensive resistance” and strengthening national unity.

Second, Hamas promised to remain loyal to the Palestinian martyrs, adding that it “will not give up an inch of” Palestinian land and holy sites, “no matter the sacrifices.”

Third, the movement lauded the Resistance and its fighters, the Palestinian people in the West Bank, worshippers in al-Quds and al-Aqsa Mosque, Palestinians in occupied ’48 territories, and Palestinians who have been expelled to refugee camps and countries around the world, calling on them to expand their actions in support of Gaza.

Fourth, the Resistance movement said that the struggle to promote and achieve the rights of Palestinians is not solely a Palestinian issue, underlining the Arab, Islamic, and global nature of the fight calling on all the free people of the world to uphold their respective responsibilities as soon as possible.

Fifth, Hamas called on all people of the world, specifically Arabs and Muslims, to escalate their actions in support of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, expose the crimes of the Israeli occupation, and stop the genocidal war by any means possible.

Palestinian Land Day has been commemorated by Palestinians on March 30 of each year since 1976 when Israeli forces seized thousands of dunams of privately owned or communal lands in al-Jalil, in occupied 48′ Palestinian territories. PFLP: Protests in normalizing Arab countries are a beacon of hope

Echoing the Hamas’ call for mobilization and affirming the Palestinian people’s right to resist the Israeli occupation, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) put out a statement hailing the importance of Land Day as a unifying event for the Palestinian people.

The PFLP called on the Palestinian people in occupied 48′ territories, who led the events that established Land Day, to confront the racist policies of the Israeli government.

“What was taken by force can only be retrieved by force and not by [political settlements] that led to a real disaster for our people,” the PFLP reiterated on Land Day.

The PFLP also lambasted the United States’ role in supporting the genocidal war on the Palestinian people, as well as the Biden administration’s mobilization to meddle in inter-Palestinian affairs. The Front stressed that only the Palestinian people have the right to decide the future of their governing system.

To conclude, the PFLP pointed to mass protests in several Arab countries, specifically ones that have normalized relations with “Israel”, saying that these developments are a “beacon of hope” for the Front and the Arab nation.

On its part, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) reiterated the necessity of unity in the Palestinian political scene, calling on political actors to uphold the outcomes of high-level meetings in Moscow and work toward holding further national talks and meetings.

Sayyed Nasrallah addresses the 12th Gaza Conference through a letter

Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah makes a monumental address to the 12th Gaza Conference in Iran, discussing a myriad of points.

The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, addressed the attendees of the “12th Conference of Gaza: A Symbol of Resistance,” which was held in Tehran on Saturday.

Sayyed Nasrallah’s address came in the form of a letter read out by Hezbollah’s representative Abdullah Safieddine who attended the conference in Iran.

The leader of the Lebanese party emphasized that Operation Al-Aqsa Flood struck down all attempts to eliminate the Palestinian cause. Stressing the cruciality of the conference, which comes at a historic moment for the Palestinian cause, Sayyed Nasrallah said the event demonstrates the organizers’ sense of responsibility toward the Palestinian people, their cause, and their Resistance.

“We all have grave responsibilities, which [require us to be constantly] alert to mobilize the Ummah’s capabilities in support of the Palestinian people and in support of their valiant Resistance,” Sayyed Nasrallah wrote.

Gaza’s Resistance outperformed multiple regional armies

He explained that the Palestinian Resistance “is rightly writing, with its sacrifices, heroism, the blood of its men, and [steadfastness of its people], the future of the Ummah, preserving its dignity and consolidating its strength.”

Marking the successes of the Palestinian Resistance, the leader of the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon pointed to the large human losses suffered by the Israeli occupation’s military in the Gaza Strip. He said that the amount of losses suffered far exceeds what the Israeli occupation suffered in the 1967 Six Day War, which involved the armies of multiple Arab nations.

Moreover, the leader shed light on the fact that the Israeli military, which occupied more than 69,000 km2 in the 1967 war, is currently experiencing defeat in a much smaller territory — the Gaza Strip.

Bidirectional plot to legitimize ‘Israel’: Failing

On another note, the Resistance leader discussed the political plots to “legitimize” the Israeli occupation on an international and regional level, in what he explained is a bidirectional plot to do so.

He explained that this plot has seen the cooperation of Israelis and “their masters” and concentrated on legitimizing the occupation on an international level and weakening and stifling the Resistance of the Palestinian people.

Firstly, “Israel” and its allies worked on whitewashing the occupation’s image, seeking to portray it as a “civilized entity” worthy of emulation by other governments in the region as a flawless model, Sayyed Nasrallah asserted.

He said that the plan reaped great results for the alliance, due to its hegemonic control over major international institutions and Western governments.

Secondly, “Israel” and its allies worked to weaken and stifle the Resistance and liquidate the Palestinian cause, attempting to eliminate the topic from popular discourse. In detail, the alliance depended on brute force, as well as promoting normalization with the region’s regimes.

He said that the alliance’s push to normalize relations with regimes in the region is a multi-faceted project aimed at subjugating the will of the Ummah, squandering its central cause — Palestine — and shattering the unity of political choices. Sayyed Nasrallah said that the world was on the verge of witnessing the limiting of the scope of the Palestinian cause to Palestinians themselves, which would have isolated it from the people of the Ummah, severely weakening it and placing it on the path of decline.

Al-Aqsa Flood turned the table on ‘Israel’

Related News

The leader of Lebanon’s Islamic Resistance continued, “At this critical moment, the Resistance’s Al-Aqsa Flood came to shuffle the cards, alter (political) calculations, and turn the threat into an advanced existential opportunity — a turning point in the [plots] that the enemies have worked [to advance] for a long time.”

Sayyed Nasrallah said the events of October 7 and what proceeded have been “deeply engraved in the hearts of the Zionists” to constantly remind them of the “irreversible defeat” that they suffered.

He said that the Operation shattered the Israeli “myth”, bringing to light the entity’s “eroding prestige” and “shaky project”. The leader said that Al-Aqsa Flood pushed back the Palestinian cause, which the Israelis sought to stifle, to dominating global discourse and politics, “reawakening it once again” to spread throughout the “world’s corridors”.

A beacon of unity

Sayyed Nasrallah said that the Operation dealt a severe blow to all conspirators, “near and far,” who attempted to “erase the Palestinian cause.” He reiterated a strong belief that the Palestinian cause “would not have survived without its Resistance, its rifle, and its sacrifices.”

He stressed that the brutal massacres and crimes executed by the Israeli regime all aim to cover up the image of resounding defeat that the occupation had suffered on October 7.

The leader stressed that despite US-UK-led West’s exhaustive attempts to impose “projects of fragmentation, deception, and manipulation,” Palestine stood solely as “the only beacon of unity.” The leader described Palestine as a “converging path, a foundation for [the Ummah’s] awakening, and a bridge to a [good] future awaited by” the people of this region.

Supporting fronts marks unprecedented achievements

In his letter, Sayyed Nasrallah paid special attention to the role of factions supporting the Palestinian Resistance, in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen. He said that the actions of these factions surpassed the Israeli regime’s expectations, adding that they successfully besieged the entity with consistent fire for more than 100 days.

This, to Sayyed Nasrallah, is “an unprecedented achievement.”

The blood of the martyrs who supported Gaza on all the aforementioned fronts, in addition to Iran’s martyrs, including Seyyed Razi Mousavi, has been “united, merged and integrated with the blood of martyrs in Gaza and the West Bank.”

Marking their unity by taking aim at the common enemy has disturbed the enemies of the Ummah, Sayyed Nasrallah wrote. In this context, he emphasized the need to work on strengthening, deepening, and extending this unity, which has been marked by “blood, rifles, battlefields, and goals”.

Resistance is the only option

Importantly, the Resistance leader said, “Whoever thinks this nation has an option other than resistance is mistaken and extremely deluded.”

He explained that “Israel” occupied Palestine through brute force — not diplomacy. Expanding on this point, Sayyed Nasrallah said the use of brute force has been a common historical practice of “Israel”, which deployed the same strategy to occupy Beirut in 1982 and today threatens the nation with its military arsenal and brute force.

Drawing a comparison to the achievements of the Resistance, Sayyed Nasrallah underlined the fact that “Israel” did not withdraw from Lebanon due to diplomacy but was forcibly pushed out by the Resistance.

“[The occupation] will not withdraw from Gaza and Palestine except through resistance.”

Addressing the ongoing battle, Sayyed Nasrallah clarified that confronting the enemy cannot be sized down to a “one or two-day affair.” On the contrary, he said the struggle takes a continuous, ongoing, and cumulative form.

“We must remain vigilant. The arrogant countries gathering their fleets to support Israel confirms its weakness and instability. We must consolidate our determination by adhering to the choice of resistance. If the conditions for the liberation of Palestine are not available today, we must prepare for tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.”

International institutions: Futile

Sayyed Nasrallah emphasized that betting on international institutions and the so-called international community is futile and is destined to fail.

“Such a bet that only produces [feelings of] regret, loss, disappointment, and bitterness.”

The Resistance leader said that international institutions cannot advance the plight of the nation, since they are “subject to the will of the US administration.”

“Their latest farce was the decision condemning Yemen for targeting Israeli ships in defense of Gaza in order to legitimize the US-British aggression on Ansar Allah, ignoring the millions of Palestinian citizens, including martyrs, wounded, detainees, hungry, thirsty, and displaced.”

Ain Al-Hilweh Clashes Part of US Scheme to Dismantle Palestinian Refugee Camps in Lebanon: Report

The perception of conspiracy in the Arab world is ambiguous, to the extent that Arabs could be skeptical of major conspiracies, even if the details are revealed over time. Those who grasp the conspiracy’s details are mostly incapable of tackling it, given its concealed or obscured elements. However, if there are Arabs and Lebanese who remain skeptical of the ongoing conspiracy against the Palestinian cause, then this is certainly an unsolvable dilemma.

US-Led Meetings

The funding for UNRWA, which is in charge of providing relief and jobs to Palestinian refugees, started to dwindle at least 10 years ago, while alternatives were pushed by Western-funded organizations. Hence, the number of those wishing or seeking to immigrate to other countries around the world rapidly increased! During that time, meetings were held under the leadership of the United States, where delegates from Lebanon, the country harboring the greatest number of Palestinian refugees, were present.

In a famous meeting in Amman, Jordan, 9 years ago, a US official apprised the Lebanese to “think rationally” and stop repeating the “chant of Resolution 194″.

In that meeting, and in the presence of Dorothy Shea, the current US ambassador to Beirut, the aforementioned US official called on Lebanon to relocate Palestinian refugees in order to pave the way for their naturalization.

To avoid interrogation, the American official added, “Palestinian refugees in Lebanon are no more than 200,000, some of whom seek to travel to the West, and a minority is considering moving to the Gaza Strip. Thus, Lebanon must welcome those who remain and integrate them residentially by relocating them from camps to cities. In addition, the country must integrate them socially and economically by lifting the ban on practicing certain professions and providing them permanent residency while they await citizenship.”

Fatuous Endeavors

Although many things happened since then, this goal was not achieved, as the outcomes of the Syrian war hindered the project aimed at ending the Palestinian refugee issue in Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and Jordan. Also, the resistance powers in Lebanon and Palestine have expanded, and the Palestinians have achieved victories that effectively permit them to return to their homeland. All of this, however, offered another reason for the US to speed up their efforts, the ultimate goal of which was to annihilate the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.

Official Arab Document: The US Scheme

Back to 2023, when Palestinian General Intelligence Chief Majid Faraj visited Lebanon in the second half of July, many denied that his visit had anything to do with any adverse incidents in Lebanon. At the end of July, under the pretext of an assassination, clashes broke out in the Ain Al-Hilweh refugee camp in Sidon. Such clashes often involve unidentified assailant assassinations and result in open battles. Thereupon, some came out to clarify that there had been no coordination between the US and their allies in the region in a bid to ignite the refugee camps ahead of their removal and destruction.

Those who spoke out about a US scheme were accused (including us) of helping to demonize the Fatah movement and blaming the Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority (PA). However, the embassy of a prominent Arab country in Beirut, which has no link with Al-Akhbar newspaper, was observing and gathering data as well as preparing a report for its government that outlined the political and security developments in the past two months in Lebanon. The document concluded that what is happening is part of a US scheme—full stop!

What’s inside the Document?

Al-Akhbar Daily publishes the content (incomplete for professional reasons) of a “top secret” document prepared by the aforementioned embassy, which states:

“For quite some time, there have been early American preparations to eliminate the Ain Al-Hilweh camp in southern Lebanon, as it is a major address for Palestinian asylum seekers in the diaspora. This practice was initiated by military leaders and officers sent by Washington in recent years.” “The repeated clashes in the Ain Al-Hilweh camp between the Fatah movement and extremist groups are not isolated from the secret visits of American military delegations to the area overlooking the camp. At the time, American delegations linked with the US Central Command (CENTCOM) had repeated field visits, resulting in at least three visits in 2018, the most notable of which was to then CENTCOM Commander General Joseph Votel”, the document adds.

General Votel in a meeting with Lebanese Army commander Gen. Joseph Aoun during a visit to Lebanon in June 2017.

The document also attributed to Lebanese security sources that “General Votel requested, during a routine visit to the Lebanese Army Command, to arrange for him a reconnaissance tour to the vicinity of the Ain Al-Hilweh camp along with Lebanese officers who are familiar with this file.”

General Joseph Aoun, the Lebanese Army Commander, was surprised by this request, given that the commander of the CENTCOM, whose military authority extends from Afghanistan to Lebanon, could instead send a team of his officers for this purpose and that the camp does not represent a challenging aspect in terms of strategic military calculations, as per Aoun.

Indeed, the American general got what he sought, as he inspected the refugee camp of Ain Al-Hilweh from Serob Hill overlooking it. Votel was carrying precise maps of the camp and surrounding areas with him, and he asked the army intelligence team that accompanied him specific questions about the following points:

First: The reality of the camp, both geographically and humanly.

Second: The identities of the armed groups in the camp, their numbers and locations. Here, Votel stopped and asked specifically about the Ansar Allah group led by Jamal Suleiman and other Islamic groups.

Third: The number of displaced Palestinians who moved from Syria to Ain Al-Hilweh camp.

Fourth: The nature of the measures taken by the Lebanese army around the camp.

Fifth: Latest developments in the plan to build a cement wall around the camp.

The document also stated that, “As a follow-up to this visit, meetings continued between the American and Lebanese sides, and a technical team from the US CENTCOM visited the Lebanese Army Command in September 2018. The team met with the Army Commander, the Director of Intelligence, and the official in charge of the Palestinian file in the Army.

The incorporation of the “Basateen Al-Tayyar” area, which has served as a training camp for Ain Al-Hilweh’s prominent Islamic faction, the Asbat Al-Ansar (Ansar League), was also discussed. This League had previously been suspected of involvement in assassinations, most notably the deaths of four judges at the Sidon courthouse. However, its relationship with the Lebanese army improved in later years, particularly in terms of assisting in the regulation of smaller organizations’ actions.”

“The construction of a wall around the Ain al-Hilweh camp was originally based on an American proposal,” the document continued, “although the Lebanese army at time justified this step by the need for security measures in light of violations committed by armed factions from within the camp towards the surrounding area. However, opposition to this step did not prevent its fulfillment.”

The document continued: “Several terrorists who had previously left the camp to fight in Syria returned to Ain Al-Hilweh at specific times, contributing to tension within the camp and raising fears that this would be a prelude to blowing up the camp from within on the way to dismantling it and ending the Right of Return. This situation prompted Lebanese security sources to ask whether a specific Gulf country with ties to ‘Islamic’ groups, as well as the US, had pushed for the return of those militants, resulting in labeling the camp as a bastion of terrorism. This plan was accompanied by facilitating for several Palestinian youths in Ain al-Hilweh to travel to European countries, especially Scandinavian ones. Lebanese travel agencies carried out this process.”

In the report’s summary, “diplomatic sources outlined several goals for the tours and visits of American officers, including:

  • Isolating the camp from its surroundings by a wall that allows the events occurring or that will occur within it to be separated.
  • Making it more difficult for “terrorist groups” to enter and exit.  The Americans claimed to know of the existence of roughly 500 armed terrorists inside the camp, including Saudis, Palestinians, Syrians, and Lebanese, during their subsequent conversations with the Lebanese side.
  • The main goal, which the Americans withheld from the Lebanese side, is maintaining the Deal of the Century’s terms, imposing a scenario that exhausts the Palestinians, and forcibly relocating some of them to Lebanon and others to countries that can accommodate them.”

The document’s most significant conclusion appears in noting that “security sources are anticipating the occurrence of tensions and clashes occasionally in the Ain Al-Hilweh camp, under the guidance of Arab and American security services, to aggravate the situation and displace the camp’s residents. This serves the purpose of integrating a portion of these refugees into Lebanese culture while encouraging the remainder to move to foreign nations that provide special facilities in collaboration with the Israeli entity.”

Votel: The wall and Special Forces in Lebanon

General Joseph Votel, whoserved as the CENTCOM Commander between March 2016 till March 2019, conducted a press conference with correspondents from Arab media at the end of January 2018, following a series of visits to Lebanon and other countries in the region. In response to a question by the Beirut0based newspaper The Daily Star correspondent, Victoria Yan, about the role of US Special Forces in Lebanon, he said: “I make frequent visits to Lebanon. I won’t delve into details about the particular operations we support, but our role is to enhance the capabilities of the Lebanese Armed Forces and help them confront terrorism in Lebanon and prevent its influence on the region.”

In April 2018, the residents of Sidon awoke to extraordinary measures taken by the Lebanese army before a military helicopter carrying an American military delegation with an official at the American embassy in Beirut landed on the city’s sports stadium, supported by another military helicopter. The delegation was led under heavy escort to the Muhammad Zgheib barracks in Sidon. Following a conference with army intelligence officers, the delegation visited the Serob region, overlooking the Ain Al-Hilweh camp, amid security measures along the road leading to the location.

It was later known that Votel was present in the US delegation. However, his deputy, General Charles Brown, undertook the same tour in September 2017, accompanied by officials from the American Embassy in Beirut. The delegation was briefed on the stages of construction of the security wall, which was scheduled to rise to more than 6 meters and be equipped with towers reaching a height of 9 meters, extending west and south of the camp towards Darb Al-Sim and up to the Al-Aytam area. Then, the Americans requested that the Lebanese army meet with the Palestine Liberation Organization factions and inform them that the goal of the wall is to defend the camp and that it should not be labeled a wall but rather a “protection fence” with the aim of “preserving the safety of the camp.”

BEHIND CRUMBLING CONCRETE: THE TRAGIC STORY OF AIN AL HILWEH’S DISPLACED PALESTINIANS

AUGUST 10TH, 2023

Source

Ramzy Baroud

Ain Al-Hilweh is known as the “Capital of Palestinian Shatat.”

The term might not stir many emotions among those who do not fully understand, let alone experience the harrowing existence of ethnic cleansing and perpetual exile – and the tremendous violence which followed.

Shatat‘ is roughly translated into “exile” or “Diaspora.” However, the meaning is much more complex. It can only be understood through lived experience. Even then, it is still not easy to communicate. Perhaps, the Kafkaesque blocks of concrete, zinc and rubble towered one on top of another and served as ‘temporary shelters’ for tens of thousands of people tell a small part of the story.

On July 30, violence in the extremely crowded Palestinian camp resumed, interrupted briefly after the intervention of the Palestinian Joint Action Authority, then resumed, harvesting the lives of 13 people and counting. Scores more were injured, and thousands have fled.

Yet, the majority of the refugees stayed because several generations of Palestinians in Ain Al-Hilweh understand that there is a point where running away serves no purpose, for it neither guarantees life nor even a dignified death. The massacres of the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in September 1982 were a testament to this collective realization.

Before writing this, I spoke to several people in South Lebanon and sorted through many articles and reports describing what is taking place in the camp now. Yet the truth is still blurry or, at best, selective.

Destruction caused by heavy clashes between Palestinian factions leave a street in Ain al Hilweh in ruin, August 2, 2023. STR | AP

Many in Arabic media have largely relegated Ain Al-Hilweh to a symbolic representation of a rooted Palestinian pain.

Mainstream Western media was hardly concerned about Palestinian pain but focused mostly on the ‘lawlessness’ of the camp, the fact that it exists outside the legal jurisdiction of the Lebanese army, and the proliferation of weapons among Palestinian and other factions, who are engaged in seemingly endless, and supposedly inexplicable infighting.

But Ain Al-Hilweh, like the 11 other Palestinian refugee encampments in Lebanon, is a story of something else entirely, more urgent than mere symbolism and more rational than being the outcome of lawless refugees.

It is essentially the story of Palestine, or rather, the destruction of Palestine at the hands of Zionist militias in 1947-48. It is a story of contradictions, pride, shame, hope, despair, and, ultimately, betrayal.

A Palestinian refugee runs past burning tires during a 2019 protest in Ain al-Hilweh against a decision by Lebanon to impose work restrictions on Palestinians. STR | AP

It is not easy to follow the timeline prior to the latest round of violence. Some suggest that the fighting began when an assassination attempt – blamed on Fatah fighters in the camp – was carried out against a leader of a rival Islamist group.

The attempt failed and was followed by an ambush carried out by alleged Islamists who killed a top Fatah commander and several of his bodyguards.

Others suggest that the assassination of the General of the Palestinian National Security, Abu Ashraf Al-Armoushi, was completely unprovoked.

Yet others, including Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, blamed outside forces and their “repeated attempts to use Lebanon as a battleground for the settling of scores.”

But who are these entities, and what is the point of such meddling?

It gets murkier. Though impoverished and overcrowded, Ain Al-Hilweh, like other Palestinian camps, is a greatly contested political space. In theory, these camps are meant to solidify and protect the Right of Return for Palestinian refugees. In practice, they are also used to undermine this internationally enshrined right.

Palestinian refugees in Lebanon

The Palestinian Authority of Mahmoud Abbas, for example, wants to ensure Fatah loyalists dominate the camp, hence laboring to deny Palestinian rivals any role in South Lebanon.

Fatah is the largest Palestinian group within the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). It dominates both the PLO and the Palestinian Authority. In the past, the group lost its dominance over Ain Al-Hilweh and other camps. For Fatah in Lebanon, it is a constant struggle for relevance.

Ain Al-Hilweh is important for the PA even though the PLO under Abbas’ leadership has largely disowned the refugees of South Lebanon and their Right of Return; it has focused mostly on governing specific regions in the West Bank under the auspices of the Israeli occupation.

Yet, Lebanon’s refugees remain important for the PA for two main reasons: one, as a source of validation for Fatah and, two, to stave off any criticism of, let alone resistance to, the Western-backed Palestinian camp, in Lebanon and everywhere else.

Throughout the years, hundreds of Ain Al-Hilweh refugees were killed in Israeli bombings, but also Palestinian-Lebanese and Palestinian-Palestinian infighting.

Israel did much of the killings to ensure Palestinian resistance in Lebanon is eliminated at the source.

The rest of the violence was carried out by groups that sought dominance and power, sometimes for their own sake, but often as proxy militias for outside powers.

Trapped in the middle are 120 thousand people, the estimated population of Ain Al-Hilweh – and, by extension, all of Lebanon’s Palestinian refugees.

Not all Ain Al-Hilweh’s inhabitants are registered Palestinian refugees. The latter is estimated by the UN refugee agency, UNRWA, at approximately 63,000. The rest fled there following the Syrian war, which swelled the population of the Lebanon camps and heightened existing tensions.

The entrapments of refugees, however, are manifold: the actual physical confinement dictated by the lack of opportunities and acceptance in mainstream Lebanese society; the great risks of leaving Lebanon as undocumented refugees smuggled across the Mediterranean, and the feeling, especially among the older generations, that leaving the camps is tantamount to the betrayal of the Right of Return.

All of this is happening in a political context, where the Palestinian leadership has completely removed the refugees from its calculations, where the PA only sees the refugees as pawns in a power play between Fatah and its rivals.

For decades, Israel has sought to dismiss the discussion on Palestinian refugees and their Right of Return. Its constant attacks on Palestinian refugee camps in Palestine itself and its interest in what is taking place in the Shatat is part of its quest to shake the very foundation of the Palestinian cause.

Infighting in Ain Al-Hilweh, if not brought under total and lasting control, might eventually get Israel exactly what it wants: presenting Palestinian refugees as a liability to host countries and, ultimately, destroying the ‘Capital of Shatat,’ along with the hope of four generations of Palestinian refugees to, someday, go back home.

Al-Houthi to coalition of aggression: Our patience will run out

The leader of Ansar Allah affirms that the movement will not squander the achievements of the Yemeni people in terms of freedom and independence.

The leader of Ansar Allah movement, Sayyed Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi

The leader of Ansar Allah movement, Sayyed Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, said, “The stage we are in, in Yemen, is a stage of war, and what has calmed down is none but military escalation,” pointing out that “we are today in the position of confronting targeting and threats, as the stage of just following up on the news of the attacks on our nation [without acting] has come to an end.”

Al-Houthi warned and advised the coalition of aggression that patience will run out, “as we cannot accept depriving our people of their national wealth.”

He added, on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Hussein Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi, today, Friday, “We are currently going through a de-escalation phase under Omani mediation and intensive efforts to stop the aggression on Yemen.” He also thanked the Omanis for their efforts and stressed the necessity of addressing the humanitarian and livelihood file, which “we cannot barter or remain silent about.”

The Yemeni leader affirmed that “we will not squander the achievements of our people in terms of freedom, independence, and maintaining dignity,” stressing that in any dialogue to be held, “the [main point should be that] enemies must end their aggression against our country.” He warned that “time may run out and we may return to pressure options to obtain our people’s right to their wealth.”

“If peace is what they want, its path is clear; its key is [solving] the humanitarian file and its ultimate goal is to end the aggression, siege, and occupation.”

Enemies provide all kinds of weapons, including nuclear weapons

The leader of Ansar Allah movement said the Americans and Western countries occupy countries and appoint puppet governments therein to suppress anyone who opposes their hegemony.

Al-Houthi added that the Americans and their affiliates violate the sovereignty of states and their ambassadors meddle in everything, both issuing directives as if they are the rulers of the countries in question.

“The Americans are the ones that launch military attacks and aggressions, such as their invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan, their aggression against Yemen, and their occupation of Palestine,” the Yemeni leader said, adding that they “do their best to destabilize the security of our nation, through the founding of Takfiri groups and exerting pressure on the [countries’] regimes to facilitate their operations.”

In this context, he reaffirmed that “the Takfiri groups are made by the West and America with the aim of distorting the image of Islam.”

The Yemeni leader indicated that “the enemies provide all kinds of weapons, including nuclear weapons, to hostile countries, whereas the countries that come under attack are denied any such weapons.”

Al-Houthi affirmed, “They want us to be a nation deprived of any ability to defend itself, and that is why they are working to ban the supply of weapons to any country they want to target.”

He further added that “the enemies impose agents and ignorant individuals on peoples and in important positions in state institutions with the aim of inflicting as much damage on them as possible and controlling them, thus forcing peoples to yield.”

Absenting the Palestinian cause to wipe out the people’s memory

The Ansar Allah leader pointed out that “the enemies exerted strained efforts to keep the Palestinian cause out of the school curricula and were keen to exclude anything that could advance the nation’s level of awareness.”

He considered that “all forms of injustice and criminal activities are imposed on the Palestinian people on a daily basis.”

PALESTINE IS MY CAUSE: NEW POLL SHOWS ARABS REJECTING PUSH TO EMBRACE ISRAEL

FEBRUARY 2ND, 2023

Source

Ramzy Baroud

The latest Arab Opinion Index 2022 is yet more proof that Arab societies are diverse in every possible way, from their assessment of their economic situation and living conditions to their take on immigration, state institutions and democracy, with one single exception: Palestine.

Seventy-six percent of all respondents to the poll, which is carried out annually by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies in Doha, said that Palestine is a cause for all Arabs, not Palestinians alone.

Three important points must be kept in mind when trying to understand this number:

First, Arabs are not merely expressing sympathy or solidarity with Palestinians. They are irrevocably stating that the Palestinian struggle against the Israeli Occupation is a collective Arab struggle.

Second, these views are the same across all sections of society throughout the entire geographic expanse of the Arab world, from the Gulf to the Maghreb regions.

Third, equally important is that the public opinions that have been examined in the poll come from countries whose governments have either full diplomatic ties with Israel or vehemently reject normalization.

The study is quite extensive, as it included 33,000 individual respondents and was carried out in the period between June to December 2022.

Once again, the Arab people collectively reject normalization with Israel, with Algeria and Mauritania topping the list at 99 percent each.

Though some might discount the detailed study by claiming that Arabs inherently hate Israel due to their deep-seated aversion to the Jews, the study breaks down the reason why Arab masses have such a low opinion of Israel.

When they were asked as to why they reject diplomatic ties between their countries and Israel, the respondents mostly “cited Israel’s colonial and expansionist policies, as well as its racism toward the Palestinians and its persistence in expropriating Palestinian land.”

Only five percent cited religious reasons behind their position, and that too cannot be dismissed as mere religious zealotry, as indeed many Arabs formulate their views based on the moral values enshrined in their religions; for example, the need to oppose and speak out against injustice.

It must be stated that this is hardly new. Arabs have exhibited these views with an unmistakable consistency since the start of the Arab Opinion Index in 2011, and one would dare argue, since the establishment of Israel atop the ruins of Palestine in 1948.

But if that is the case, why are the latest poll results deserving of a discussion?

While examining the American public view of Russia, the state of democracy in the US, or the greatest threat to national security, opinion polls often fluctuate from one year to the other. For example, 70 percent of all Americans considered Russia an ‘enemy’ to the US in March, compared to only 41 percent in January.

The massive jump in two months is not directly related to the Russian war in Ukraine, since Ukraine is not a US territory, but because of the anti-Russia media frenzy that has not ceased for a moment since the beginning of the war.

However, for Arabs, neither media shift in priorities, internal politics, class orientation, nor any other factor, seems to alter the status of Palestine as the leading Arab priority.

In 2017 and 2022, respectively, two American presidents visited the Arab region. Both Donald Trump and Joe Biden labored to execute a major shift in the region’s political priorities.

Biden summed up his agenda in a meeting with six Arab leaders in Jeddah in July by stating, “This trip is about once again positioning America in this region for the future. We are not going to leave a vacuum in the Middle East for Russia or China to fill.”

None of these self-serving priorities seem to be paying any real dividends.

That said, the pressure to dismiss the centrality of Palestine as an Arab cause does not only come from the outside. It is also guided by the internal dynamics of the region itself. For example, some pan-Arab news networks, which put much focus on Palestine in previous years, have been relentlessly and, sometimes, purposely ignoring Palestine as an urgent daily reality in favor of other topics that are consistent with the regional policies of host countries.

Yet, despite all of this, Palestine remains the core of Arab values, struggles and aspirations. How is this possible?

Unlike most Americans, Arabs do not necessarily formulate their views of the world based on the media agenda of the day, nor do they alter their behavior based on presidential speeches or political debates. To the contrary, their collective experiences made them particularly cynical of propaganda and fiery speeches. They formulate their views based on numerous grassroots channels of communication, whether using social media tools or listening to the Friday sermon in their local mosque.

The struggle for Palestine has been internalized in the everyday acts of the average Arab woman or man, from the names they choose for their newborn to the quiet muttering of prayers before falling asleep. No amount of propaganda can possibly reverse this.

Arab public opinion obviously matters, even though most Arab countries do not have functioning democratic systems. In fact, they matter most because of the lack of democracy.

Every society must have a system of political legitimacy, however nominal, for it to maintain relative stability. It means that the collective Arab view in support of Palestinians and rejection of normalization without an end to Israeli Occupation would have to be taken seriously.

Though some Arab governments are listening to their people and thus condition normalization on Palestinian freedom and sovereignty, the US and Israel insist on ignoring the Arab masses, as they have done for many years. However, if Washington believes that it can simply compel the Arabs to hate Russia and China and love Israel while the latter continues to kill Palestinians and occupy their land, it will be sorely disappointed, not only today but for many years to come.

Qatar World Cup Came to Clarify that Normalization with ‘Israel’ is Only Governments, Not Peoples’ Affair!

November 28, 2022

By Mohammad Youssef

The Qatar World Cup has unfolded so many events and revealed new facts the most important of which is that Palestine and the Palestinian cause still occupy a central place in the consciousness of the Arab community.

All the shameful official normalization deals with the ‘Israeli’ enemy and all the attempts by some Arab governments to normalize the relations between their people and the enemy have very clearly proved their futility. The reactions from the different standoffs said one truth that ‘Israel’ can never be accepted as a normal part of the region, and it will always be rejected by all Arab and Muslim people.

Journalists, reporters and media personnel who work in the different ‘Israeli’ media outlets have repeatedly revealed a very strong fact about how much they are detested and rejected the moment Arab people discover their ‘Israeli’ identity. The people would directly voice out their anger and refuse their presence in Qatar.

This kind of reaction would directly tell the ‘Israelis’ and the governments how much Arab people are attached to Palestine and the depth of their faith in it.

In one instance, an ‘Israeli’ reporter would start a conversation with one of the attendees at the Qatar World Cup, the moment this participant discovers he is an ‘Israeli’ he would directly cut the conversation and refuse talking to him.

In another instance, the ‘Israeli’ reporter covering the events would reveal his identity and the audiences there tell him directly there is no such thing as ‘Israel,’ we call this country Palestine.

In a third occasion, a crowd of the participants attending the World Cup would tell one of the ‘Israelis’ in the face you are not welcome here.

This thread of events and many others have made the ‘Israelis’ feel frustrated and report to their government that would in its turn report to the Qatari authorities to convey its disappointment and claims about the mistreatment of the ‘Israelis’ during the World Cup events.

Of course, neither Qatar, nor any other Arab government is capable of controlling the feeling of the people and the impulse of the Arab crowds. They represent a true and genuine reflection of their understanding to the ‘Israeli’ entity.

What is so strange actually about all of this is the shock manifested by the ‘Israelis’ themselves as if this happens as a surprise, though they should know already that all the years that passed after their agreement with both the Egyptian and Jordanian political systems did not bring them any inch closer to be accepted by both streets whether in Cairo or Amman.

‘Israel’ will never be accepted by the Arabs and Muslims and all its agreements and treaties with a government here or there will not help make it a normal part of the region.

As long as our mothers and fathers teach us that this part of the world has always been and will continue to be Palestine and not any other country or entity, and as long as the successive Palestinian generations continue to sacrifice for the full liberation of Palestine from the rivers to the sea, then the victory will definitely come.

The normalization story is behind us. To be more precise, it is under our feet in all the Arab streets. Governments take note of that!

Enmity ongoing, normalization fragile: Israeli media on Qatar WC

Israeli media comments on the everyday videos being published about Arab fans being hostile toward Israelis in solidarity with occupied Palestine.

Israeli media commented Sunday in a very disgruntled manner on the way the Arabic crowds are reacting to Israeli correspondents showing up in Qatar under the guise of reporting on the World Cup and trying to get positive statements that serve the process of normalization from the Arab fans there.

An Israeli Hayom article entitled “The World Cup in Qatar, A Mirror for the Israelis: They Do Not Like Us nor Want Us” argued that the World Cup put the Israeli occupation before a harsh and bitter reality for the Israelis.

The Israelis clarified that they saw for the first time they saw a large-scale experience of rejection, neglect, hatred, and the non-acceptance of Israelis in an Arab-Muslim country.

“Everyone claiming that the people of the Gulf do not have enmity toward Israel saw that they have been tricked, and they are experiencing a different reality,” the article added.

“News reporters in Israeli channels enthusiastically went to Qatar and set up their cameras, waiting for the Arabs living in the Gulf and the various other Arab countries to praise Israel,” it said. “However, they soon found themselves subject to contempt, avoidance, and mockery from those same Arabs.”

An Israeli news channel showed earlier in the day Moroccan fans refusing to talk to an Israeli reporter, chanting in support of Palestine and against the occupation, despite the Israeli correspondent stressing that “your government normalized ties with us… we must be at peace now!”

Israeli media commented on how a group of Arabs refused to be interviewed by an Israeli reporter and confronted him by saying “there is no such thing as Israel. It is Palestine.” The author said this was expected, noting that he “was not surprised that the overwhelming majority of Arab football fans refused to be interviewed by Israeli television channels.”

Embarrassing situation

“It is only those that do not understand how the people feel in the Arab World that will rush and set up a camera, begging an Arab to be interviewed by an Israeli channel,” the author added.

He described what the Israeli reporters were subjected to, from humiliation to embarrassing situations and even having to conceal their identity by saying: “It is shameful to see an Israeli journalist begging and hugging whoever allows him to interview them to urge them to speak positively about Israeli, only for it to appear that they don’t consider that there is an Israel, only Palestine.”

Normalization takes a hit

“This is a series blow to anyone who thought normalization was right at the corner and that normalization with Arab countries was just a matter of time,” the author wrote.

“The behavior of the average Arab citizen toward Israel shows an enmity that is more than 70 years old, and it indicates that the root of the problem is still very much alive, kicking us down, and dealing blow after blow to us.”

This is the truth and this is reality, the article stressed. “Whoever does not want to see that must close their eyes. But the harsh, bitter, and, in my opinion, painful reality is that unless the Palestinian cause is solved somehow that is acceptable by all parties, we are not and will not be welcome in Arab countries. Even in countries that have signed normalization agreements.”

“It is enough to look at the normalization agreements with Egypt to understand how we did not make any progress with the Egyptian people, which is still among the most hostile Arab peoples toward Israel,” he stressed.

Normalization agreements fragile

Former Shin Bet official Doron Matza wrote in an article on the Makor Rishon website titled, “The hatred of Israel in Qatar indicates that the Abraham Accords have a glass ceiling,” that “the rude way Arab football fans are dealing with Israeli media correspondents surprised reporters, which opened their eyes to the status quo in the Middle East and Israel’s ties in the region.”

“They do not like us in Qatar and, as apparently, in the whole Middle East, and this is the conclusion that the journalists drew in light of the unpleasant interactions with Saudi, Qatari, and Iranian fans, among others,” Matza added.

“It turns out that nothing has changed… Even if it is good to be optimistic, we must not ignore reality,” he stressed.

He also said the normalization agreements signed with Arab regimes were lackluster in terms of influencing the people, saying they “were formed against the less ideological parties in the region, such as the United Arab Emirates.”

The author then concluded that the normalization agreements signed did not influence anything in terms of how the people of the region felt toward the Israeli occupation.

“The events that took place in light of the Qatar World Cup prove that Israel’s regional standings and the contents of the Abraham Accords have a glass ceiling,” the author underscored.

An Israeli KAN public broadcaster correspondent in Qatar complained Thursday about “unpleasant” incidents he was subjected to in Qatar during the channel’s coverage of the FIFA World Cup championship being held in the country due to him being Israeli, a heavily opposed “nationality” in the region.

Hoffman also said that when he and his team arrived at a restaurant at a local beach with his team, he took some photos. The restaurant’s owner inquired about their nationality, asking them where they were coming from. “When he found out that we are from Israel, he brought the restaurant’s security guards, and they kicked us out. They also took my phone and deleted all the photos I had taken.”

Another Israeli correspondent said a few days ago that he was bothered by the stances of the Arab fans attending the 2022 World Cup, saying that they would refuse to be interviewed by him due to his allegiance.

According to the correspondent, young Lebanese men were enraged when they found out that he was Israeli, saying: “I would also like to say that even off the air, whichever Arab fans we meet there with and introduce ourselves to, they reject talking to us altogether.”

Since the World Cup kicked off, there have been various videos that went viral of Arab fans refusing to be interviewed by Israeli media.

“All attempts to talk to football fans in Doha did not go according to plan,” Israeli media has said. “Videos are being circulated online are of Saudi fans, a Qatari shopper, and several Lebanese fans purposely avoiding Israeli reporters.”

Israeli Channel 12 correspondent, Ohad Hamo, expressed his frustration from the “maltreatment” of the Arab masses he came across in the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Arab people of all nations refused to be interviewed by him, an Israeli, during a live TV broadcast.

“Everyone knows us, perhaps from the widespread Tik Tok videos. They come to us and criticize us being here,” Hamo said in objection. “I don’t know why,” he cried out.

Palestine’s Lions’ Den: The Zionists’ Latest, Biggest Nightmare

October 17, 2022

By Mohammad Youssef

It has always been said that Palestine is our compass. It continues and will continue to be as such so long as it is under the Western-backed ‘Israeli’ occupation.

The ‘Israeli’ occupation forces launched and continue to implement a black propaganda against Palestine and the Palestinians depicting them as ‘terrorists,’ in which the Tel Aviv regime has tried every possible way to liquidate the Palestinian cause.

The ‘Israelis’ have tried wars, massacres, assassinations, building settlements, annexing lands and continuous siege… but all these systematic aggressions and measures did not break the Palestinian people’s will.

They continue to fight with complete resolve and full determination to liberate their occupied land.

One of the basic goals the ‘Israelis’ eyed is to sow the seeds of discord among the Palestinians, and they hope their plots and conspiracies would successfully materialize one day.

One of the Zionist goals is to separate the West Bank from the rest of Palestine and to establish a system of power or authority that would coordinate and serve the ‘Israeli’ entity. They pinned the hope that this will create a wedge within the Palestinian society.

After all those efforts, the ‘Israelis’ are experiencing a real nightmare in the occupied West Bank. The recent uprising [intifada] there is very promising. The daring operations carried out in the West Bank by a resistance group that named itself the ‘Lions’ Den] is putting the ‘Israeli’ regime’s military security along with that of its army into shame.

All the efforts by the different ‘Israeli’ military and security apparatuses were fruitless. Not to mention that all the ‘Israeli’ and western black propaganda and brainwash efforts to mislead the world public opinion about the nature of the Palestinian cause were in vain.

The new generation of the Palestinian youngsters who lived all their life in the occupied West Bank under the Palestinian Authority [PA] system came to realize deeply that all the ‘agreements’ with the ‘Israeli’ regime will not bring them any good. All the ‘security coordination’ between the PA the Zionists is solely serving the ‘Israeli’ interests.

This is the generation that has experienced everything already is revolting now in a new intifada that would put all the so-called ‘Israeli’ achievements in jeopardy.

The recent military operations carried by this group, namely the ‘Lions’ Den’, were extraordinarily courageous. They sent a clear message about the Palestinian determination to fight the occupation.

The ‘Israelis’ have to deal now with new waves of armed resistance operations carried out by this new generation in the occupied West Bank.

What the Tel Aviv regime feared the most is taking place right now. The recent operation in Shuafat tells it all when a Palestinian resistance hero opened fire from a zero distance towards the ‘Israeli’ soldiers, killed one of them and wounded two others. The importance of the operation is that it happened at a time when the ‘Israeli’ enemy was at the highest state of readiness, yet the resistance group succeeded to break through all its high security measures.

The ‘Israeli’ soldiers at the point of the Shuafat operation showed a great deal of cowardice attitudes as they fled the scene to save their lives. They were highly confused and failed to target the perpetrator who fled the place safely.

This new development is very alarming to the ‘Israeli’ occupiers on many levels. On the contrary, it is very promising to Palestine and its people. The flag of liberation will always be higher and will definitely be handed in from one generation to the other until the complete liberation, which will definitely happen sooner than many believe or expect.

Palestinian factions to PA: Abort Oslo, recant ‘Israel’ recognition

By Al-Mayadeen English

Palestinian factions reaffirm position to liberate all of Palestine.

29 years after Oslo Accords, Palestinians have not given up on liberation.

Hamas movement urged on Tuesday the Palestinian Authority to take the initiative and announce the end of the Oslo Accords and recanting the recognition of the usurping Zionist entity.

Hamas said in a statement on the 29th anniversary of the signing of the Oslo Accords that “the Lapid government’s quest to co-opt the Palestinian Authority and its members is suspicious, and we warn the authority not to go along with it.”

The statement added that “the security coordination policy with the Zionist enemy and the prosecution of our people and activists defending their land and holy sites in the face of settlement and Judaization projects is a crime and a code of conduct that violates all national customs and values and must stop,” stressing that the “masses revolting to defend themselves, their land and holy sites by all available means must not be restricted.”

The statement renewed its “categorical rejection of all agreements, no matter their source, that do not recognize the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is their struggle and Resistance to defend themselves, their land and holy sites, and their right to liberate the land and return to their cities and villages from which they were forcefully displaced, not to mention establishing their independent, fully sovereign state with Al-Quds as its capital.”

Resistance Committees in Palestine: The Oslo agreement led to the loss of many achievements

Director of the media office of the Resistance Committees in Palestine, Mohammed Al-Barim “Abu Mujahid”, stressed that “all agreements and conspiracies will not take away or cancel any of our rights or our constant principles and will not give any legitimacy to the existence of the Zionist entity occupying our land.”

“The Oslo agreement brought disasters and misfortunes to our people and represented a dangerous decline for which the Palestinian cause paid heavy prices and was exploited by the Zionist enemy as a cover for Judaization, settlement, and normalization, whether secret or public,” Al-Barim said.

He also pointed out that “the Oslo accords led to the loss of many achievements reached by the Palestinian people during the course of their struggle and restricted the march to liberation in light of numerous attempts to end the Resistance, which throughout history has been the conscience of the people and the nation and its legitimate force in the face of the occupation and Zionist aggression.”

“What is required now is to end the current approach of settlement with the enemy, end all forms of relationship with it, cancel the Oslo Accords, and withdraw recognition of the criminal entity,” he said.

Al-Ahrar: Vast difference between the Resistance Project and the settlement project

Al-Ahrar movement said in a statement, “We must work nationally to get rid of the Oslo Accords and its annexes, considering that the first and last beneficiary from them is the Zionist occupation through the abominable security coordination.”

“The Palestinian negotiator who went alone to conclude this disastrous agreement contrary to the will of our people committed a great sin during which he made more concessions than the occupation expected, so we call for its dissolution and siding with the will of our people to build a national strategy for comprehensive Resistance,” it added.

“After 29 years of signing this ill-fated agreement, everyone must move to push for a complete revision of this absurd path to abandon and drop the Oslo accords, which has only brought misery to our people,” the statement said.

The movement pointed out that “there is a difference between the Resistance Project, which has accomplished achievements and succeeded in forcing the occupation out of Gaza, and the frail settlement project, which opened the door wide for the occupation to implement its settlement and Judaization plans to plunder the capabilities of our people, their land and their rights.”

The movement stressed that “resistance will remain the only way to achieve the unity of our people, end its crises, defeat the occupation and free the land of Palestine, all of Palestine.”

Mujahideen movement: Oslo is a national sin

The Palestinian Mujahideen movement said in a statement that “Oslo is a national sin that must be cleansed and dropped, and the defeat of the occupation in Gaza is proof of the effectiveness of the option of Resistance.”

The movement added that “the fateful Oslo accords were a phase of betrayal to our national cause and opened the doors to all forms of normalization of some Arab regimes with this criminal occupier.”

The movement stressed that “liberating our land from the occupation can only be by Resistance, not by surrender and concession, and this requires everyone to adopt an inclusive national strategy that supports the option of Resistance and strengthens the resilience of our people in the face of dangers and challenges.”

25 Palestinians still in occupation prisons 29 years after Oslo

The Ministry of Prisoners in Gaza said that “25 Palestinians have been imprisoned in occupation cells since before the Oslo Accords, 29 years ago, some even for longer than 35 years.”

Nasrallah: ‘Israel’s’ threats regarding demarcation deal are worthless

 August 23, 2022

By Al Mayadeen English

On the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Hezbollah, Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah calls back the legendary steadfastness in the July 2006 war that nipped the so-called “New Middle East” project in the bud.

Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah

Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said on Monday that the 2000 victory ended the so-called “Greater Israel” project and shattered the myth of the “invincible army”.

Sayyed Nasrallah’s speech came during a festival organized by Hezbollah on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of its establishment.

The Resistance leader considered that one of the results of the legendary steadfastness in the July 2006 war was thwarting the so-called “New Middle East” project and ending the “Greater Israel” project, not to mention the Resistance’s engagement in the file of restoring Lebanon’s oil and gas rights.

Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that propaganda campaigns, distortion attempts, and lies can never destroy the will of this Resistance.

“In 2006, they failed to crush the Resistance, which came out stronger and more powerful than ever,” he stressed.

He also indicated that the Resistance is heading in the direction of developing its military structure and capabilities to keep pace with the developments at the level of weapons and technology.

During his speech, Sayyed Nasrallah emphasized that the “Army, People, and Resistance” golden equation has become solid, whether included in the ministerial statement or not, stressing that liberating the rest of the occupied Lebanese land is a national responsibility.

The Lebanese leader pointed out that the Resistance’s responsibilities in the next stage are to establish the deterrence equations necessary for protecting Lebanon’s land, people, and wealth.

Regarding the file of border demarcation with occupied Palestine, Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that the Israeli threats are to no avail, adding that Hezbollah’s decision and approach are clear and “we are waiting for the coming days to act accordingly.”

In his speech, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah underlined that the Palestinian cause is part of the religion, culture, and honor of this nation, stressing that there is no place for abandonment, neutrality, or retreat when it comes to this cause.

The core of Hezbollah’s strategy toward the Palestinian cause is based on the ultimate conviction that the Palestinian people will continue to resist and reject nationalization and normalization, he indicated.

“Our bet is on young people like Charbel Abu Daher and Nadia Fawaz, who refused to compete against the Israeli,” he said.

Addressing Syria, which Hezbollah Secretary-General described as the backbone of the Axis of Resistance and the steadfastness front, characterized by ultimate refusal to Israeli conditions, he stressed, “By the day, we grow increasingly convinced of the validity of our choice and decision to go to Syria.”

In this context, Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that “if Syria is exposed to any similar attacks, we will not hesitate to engage in the battlefields on its side.”

He said, “It is our duty to thank our fellow brothers in Syria who, throughout 40 years, stood by us, welcomed us with arms wide open, and provided us with political, diplomatic, and security protection, which we deeply thank Syria and its leadership for.”

Sayyed Nasrallah added, “We will remain an integral part of the Axis of Resistance, which we trust will always be the solid basis for confronting hegemony projects and defending holy sites,” pointing out that “Iran is the major regional power on which all the Resistance movements and the downtrodden people in the region rely.”

He also revealed that Hezbollah contributed within its capabilities to fighting ISIS in Iraq and stressed that “if Iraq is exposed to this again and asks us, as in previous years, for help, we will not hesitate to send our leaders and fellow freedom fighters to go and fight side by side with our Iraqi brothers there.”

On the relationship with Gulf states, the Lebanese leader said, “We had no problem in developing Lebanon’s relations, especially with the Gulf, but some aim at turning Lebanon into an affiliate, which cannot be tolerated.”

Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that Hezbollah “will never be dragged and will not go into a civil war or engage in a sectarian strife,” recalling the Tayouneh ambush, in which a number of Lebanese citizens were martyred after snipers opened fire at unarmed peaceful protesters in Tayouneh, Beirut from the rooftops of buildings where they had stationed themselves.

Therefore, he called for addressing this issue, just as others, as it is linked to civil peace.

Hezbollah chief stressed that throughout the party’s 40 years in Lebanon, “we avoided slipping into any civil war or sectarian strife, and this was what was being prepared for Lebanon in 2005, but we cooperated with the political forces to save Lebanon from going into war and falling prey to sectarian strife.”

In this context, Sayyed Nasrallah considered that “internal security and stability are the responsibility of the state and should be governed by the cooperation of the various state components.”

“Some are making every effort to drag the Resistance into a clash with the Lebanese army and security forces, and this is a permanent and declared American project,” he stressed.

To this end, Sayyed Nasrallah reminded the people that “the shooting on the Airport Bridge demonstration against the Oslo agreement was not the decision of the army, but rather a major breach within the personnel on the ground.”

The Resistance leader pointed out that among the achievements is the transition of the relationship between Hezbollah and the Amal movement from a negative position to a very positive one, leading to integration.

He said that Hezbollah is keen to maintain a permanent relationship with the Amal movement that is based on integration, cooperation, and unity, especially on major issues, pointing out that in the next stage, “we will remain keen on maintaining our understanding with the Free Patriotic Movement, as well as strengthening and developing it.”

Nasrallah affirmed that Hezbollah will continue to be present in future governments to defend the people’s interests mainly due to the party’s clear political vision about the internal situation, indicating that Hezbollah’s main aim in the next stage is to cooperate with various political forces in order to build a just and capable state.

“We strongly believe in the principle of partnership between the Lebanese components away from exclusivity,” he said.

The Hezbollah Secretary-General stressed that the Resistance party will continue to serve people in all frameworks, institutions, and regions, despite the siege, sanctions, pressure, and threats against anyone who donates money to Hezbollah, reiterating that the Lebanese party will strengthen its institutions and that serving people is a core commitment and one of the greatest acts of worship.

“We are now in the eye of the storm, and this expresses the extent of our commitment to alleviate the living conditions and economic situation of the Lebanese people,” Sayyed Nasrallah said.

The Lebanese leader considered that “we are looking forward to a real sovereign country that is not subjugated to an American embassy or any other embassy or foreign hegemony,” noting that “the interference of the US embassy in the affairs of the Lebanese ministries is at its utmost level.”

Sayyed Nasrallah indicated that Hezbollah sees that the international developments are positive and “in the interest of the Axis of Resistance and true sovereignty.”

‘Watani’: A Kanafanian Song in the Time of National Crisis (VIDEO)

Bodies fall, but not the idea. (Ghassan Kanafani)

The 50th anniversary of the assassination of Ghassan Kanafani coincides with the passing of 15 years of the Fatah-Hamas rift, instigated by the Bush administration in 2007 and which has led to the formation of two local, opposing administrations by the two parties in the 1967 occupied territories.

The clashes between the two parties created a new reality on the ground, the brunt of which has been paid, mainly, by the 2.4 million residents of the besieged Gaza Strip, and has led to one of the worst national crises Palestinians have had since the emergence of the contemporary Palestinian revolution and the formation of the PLO.

What would Ghassan Kanafani have said?! This song is an attempt to address this question.

The song is written and performed by Haidar Eid.

Lyrics:

Oh, WATANY (MY HOMELAND)

Patience and steadfastness

And forgiveness for what we have done

WATANY!

You are the throbbing heart

You are the throbbing HEART

You are the soul

The soul

THE SOUL

And the soul is dear (to the heart)

And so TRANSCENDENTAL
