ماكرون الإقليميّ تغيير سايكس بيكو وليس حدودها

ثوابت يجب عدم نسيانها وأوهام ممنوع السماح بمرورها وتغلغلها في نفوس الناس وعقولهم في النظر للحركة الفرنسيّة التي يقودها الرئيس امانويل ماكرون، حيث يتمّ تمرير كل شيء تحت ضغط الكارثة التي يعيشها اللبنانيون، أولها التوهّم أن فرنسا أم حنون جاءت لتساعد وتسهم في رفع المعاناة عن كاهل اللبنانيين، وثانيها أن إدراك أن السياسة باعتبارها لغة مصالح لا يعني الرفض المطلق لسياسات الآخرين ومصالحهم إذا لم تتعارض مع سياساتنا ومصالحنا، وثالثها أن ما لا يتعارض مع سياساتنا ومصالحنا ويؤسس لنقاط تقاطع لا تجوز إدارته بتساهل واسترخاء لأن المصالح تتراكم وتتغيّر والأطماع لا يردعها إلا حضور الحذر واستحضار القدرة وتحصين القوة. والمشهد اللبناني المقزّز في درجة التهافت أمام الرئيس الفرنسي، وتغيّر المواقف وتبدل الثوابت وتقديم أوراق الاعتماد، أظهر خصال انحطاط ليست حكراً على ما يحلو للبعض وصفه بطبقة سياسية فاسدة، فقد نخر سوس التهافت والانحطاط، صفوف الذين سمّوا أنفسهم ثواراً، والذين قدّموا أنفسهم بدائل، والنخب والكتاب والفنانين، ومن له مصلحة ومن ليس له مصلحة، إلا قلة رفيعة الشأن كبيرة النفس شامخة الأنف، لا عارضت علناً وقدمت الولاء سراً، ولا قاطعت، ولا سوّقت، ولا تهافتت، حالها كحال فيروز التي بقيت تشبه أرز لبنان يحتاجها ماكرون ولا تحتاجه، وتقاطع المصالح يعني لها النديّة، وليس الذل والاسترهان، ولا الزحف والبكاء، والبكاء السياسي والإعلامي، ليس بكاء وجع الناس المفهوم، وبقيت هذه القلة تحفظ سرّ المقام والدور والمسؤوليّة، فشارك بعضها بجدية ومسؤولية واحترام وندية، ولكنه لم يمنع نفسه من متعة التفرج على “الزحفطة” السياسية والإعلامية والاقتصادية و”الثورية” و”المدنية” وغير المدنية”، ولم يكن بعضها موجوداً فتابع عن بُعد وهو يجمع السخرية والألم من درجة هبوط وانحطاط مشهد، هو بالنهاية مشهد وطن لا يفرح محبّوه برؤيته على هذه الحال.

توضح زيارة امانويل ماكرون للعراق وتصريحات وزير الخارجية الأميركية مايك بومبيو، أن الحركة الفرنسيّة محميّة أميركياً، ولا تحظى فقط بالتغطية، بل هي جزء من سياسة أميركية بالوكالة، حيث تحتفظ واشنطن بالخطاب الدعائي ضد إيران والمقاومة، وتتولى فرنسا تبريد جبهات المشرق الملتهبة، بينما تتفرّغ واشنطن لتزخيم حفلات التطبيع العربي “الإسرائيلي” في الخليج، فماكرون المتحمّس لمرفأ بيروت بدا متحمساً لمشروع مترو بغداد، بينما كان الأردن والعراق ومصر يبشرون بمشروع “الشام الجديد” الذي يلاقي نتائج التطبيع الإماراتيّ الإسرائيليّ، بربط العراق عبر الأردن الذي يقيم معاهدة سلام مع كيان الاحتلال، بمرفأ حيفا، أسوة بالإمارات، في زمن خروج مرفأ بيروت من الخدمة، ولا يُخفى أن المشروع الذي قام أصلاً وفقاً لدراسة للبنك الدولي على ضم سورية ولبنان وفلسطين على المشروع قد اعتبر تركيا جزءاً منه، وقد أسقطت سورية ولبنان وفلسطين، واستبعدت تركيا حكماً، وفي زمن التغوّل التركي ورعاية أنقرة للإرهاب وتطبيعها مع الكيان لا اسف على الاستبعاد، وبمثل ما رحبت بالشام الجديد واشنطن وتل أبيب، هرول الرئيس الفرنسي مرحباً باستبعاد تركيا، على قاعدة تناغم مصري فرنسي سيظهر أكثر وأكثر، من ليبيا إلى لبنان، وصولاً للعراق، بحيث تقوم فرنسا بالإمساك بلبنان عن السقوط و”خربطة الحسابات” بانتظار، تبلور المشروع الذي يريد ضم سورية ولبنان معاً في فترة لاحقة، بعد إضعاف قدرتهما التفاوضيّة وعزلهما عن العراق، والمقصود بالقدرة التفاوضيّة حكماً قوى المقاومة وتهديدها لأمن الكيان، وهذا هو معنى التذكير الأميركي بأن المشكلة هي في حزب الله وصواريخه الدقيقة، كما يؤكد بومبيو.

لا مشكلة لدى قوى المقاومة بالمرحلة الانتقالية التي يتمّ خلالها انتشال لبنان من قعر السقوط، ليس حباً ولا منّة ولا مكرمة من أحد، بل خشية انفجار كبير يحول التهديد الإفتراضي للكيان إلى تهديد واقعي، ويأتي بالصين على سكة حديد بغداد دمشق بيروت، هي السكة التي يريدها ماكرون لفرنسا، لكن بعد التفاوض، بحيث تحفظ حدود سايكس بيكو، لكن يتغيّر مضمون التفويض بنقل الوكالة في حوض المتوسط إلى فرنسا، التي منعت من العراق والأردن قبل قرن، لحساب بريطانيا، المتفرّجة اليوم إلى حين. وهذا يكفي للقول إنه بعد فشل الرهان “الإسرائيلي” على نظرية معركة بين حربين كادت تفجّر حرباً، جاءت فرنسا بمشروع تسوية بين حربين، عساها تجعل الحرب الثانية اقتصادية، هدفها إبعاد الصين عن المتوسط، وإبعاد صواريخ المقاومة الدقيقة عن رقبة الإسرائيليين، والمقاومة المدركة للتحديات والاستحقاقات، تعرف ما بين أيديها كما تتقن ذكاء التوقيت.

لا شام جديد بدون الشام الأصلي والقديم، حقيقة يجب أن ينتبه لها ماكرون قبل أن يرتكب الأخطاء القاتلة، فلا ينسى أن التذاكي لا يحل المشكلات الأصلية، وأن روسيا لا تكتفي بالكلمات طويلاً، وأن بريطانيا لا تطيل النوم بعد الظهر.

الطريق المعبّدة من قبل

تشكلت الدولة الكيانية – القطرية في عموم العالم العربي بحدودها وهوياتها الوطنية الضيقة وفق خرائط الأجنبي وإرادته، الذي رسم وتقاسم مناطق النفوذ مع أجنبي آخر، حتى انّ بعض هاتيك الحدود كانت تُرسم بأقلام الرصاص، فهي قابلة للتعديل والإزاحة، وفق المستجدات والتقاسمات وموازين القوى عند الأجنبي المستعمر. بهذه الطريقة رسمت حدود الدويلات في خرائط الاتفاق الانجلو – فرنسي المعروف باتفاق سايكس بيكو الذي رسم حدود الدول السورية، ثم في الحجاز في شمال الجزيرة العربية حيث سُمح لسلطان نجد عبد العزيز بطرد الهاشميين من الحجاز وضمّ الحجاز لما أصبح يُعرف لاحقاً بالمملكة العربية السعودية، وكذلك نصّب الحكام وفق ما تقتضي ضرورات السياسة، فلا يكفي أن يكون الحاكم مدعوماً ومنسجماً مع الأجنبي المستعمر، وإنما يجب أن يبقى على شيء من الضعف وشيء من عدم المشروعية، ليبقى رهينة لمن جاء به.

الهاشميون في الحجاز هم أبناؤها ويملكون شرعية الشرف (بالمعنى الديني) من خلال سدانتهم للحرمين المكي والمدني، فتمّ نقلهم إلى دمشق ثم إلى العراق والأردن، فيما مُنحت الحجاز لعبد العزيز، الذي لا يملك الشرعية الروحية ولا الانتماء للحجاز وأهلها الذين كانوا ينظرون إليه على أنه بدويّ نجديّ جلف، منتمٍ إلى المذهب الوهابي غير الإجماعي. ولطالما تكرّرت هذه التجربة في المغرب العربي، وفي سبعينات القرن الماضي، عندما رسم الانجليز الحدود بين ما كان يسمّى في حينه الإمارات المتصالحة، والتي أصبحت في ما بعد دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة وقطر والبحرين.

الشاهد الأول في هذا المقال، أنّ هذه الهوية الكيانية – القطرية الضيقة تمّت صناعتها والعمل عليها بمهارة ومكر، لجعلها أوطاناً أزلية، يتعصّب لها مواطنوها، وتمّ تطوير الشعور الانفصالي لديهم، بادّعاءات التفرّد والتمايز عن باقي فئات الوطن، وتوظف لتحقيق ذلك خبراء ولحق بهم أنصاف مثقفين من المرتزقة، لينسجوا لهم عقائد تفتيتية، ولاختراع تاريخ خاص وحضارة وهمية متمايزة مغرقة في القدم، تتفوّق على حضارات باقي الفئات، تصنع لهم هويات تتصادم مع الهوية القومية الجامعة، هذا ما كان مقدّمة لإضعاف التضامن العربي، وجعل كلّ دولة من هذه الدول تعمل لما تظنّه مصلحتها الخاصة، بعيداً عن المصالح المشتركة التي كان عليها الوضع قبل عام 1977، عندما أعلن الرئيس المصري في حينه، عن مبادرته للسلام والتطبيع، ثم ما لبثت هذه الحالة أن تفاقمت في مطلع تسعينيات القرن الماضي عندما أقدم العراق على احتلال الكويت وما لحقه من تداعٍ للنظام العربي، فقبل ذلك كانت فلسطين، مسألة قومية وعربية بامتياز.

أدّى انهيار النظام العربي إلى تداعيات، قادت إلى مؤتمر مدريد للسلام عام 1991، ثم إلى اتفاق اوسلو 1993 بين قيادة منظمة التحرير بصفتها الممثل الشرعي والوحيد للشعب الفلسطيني والحكومة (الإسرائيلية)، وعلى الطريق ذاتها سار الأردن الذي أخذه وغيره من دول العالم العربي هول مفاجأة اتفاق «أوسلو»، التي أعدّت بصمت وسرية وتفرّد وبمعزل عن مسارات التفاوض الأخرى، فكانت اتفاقية «وادي عربة»، وهنا لا يغيب عن الذهن ما فعلته المقاومة اللبنانية، بكلّ أطيافها (لا طوائفها) حين أسقطت اتفاق 17 أيار بين بعض لبنان و»إسرائيل»، فيما لم تستطع ولربما لم ترغب القوى السياسية التي ناوأت السادات في كامب دافيد، أو المعارضة الفلسطينية التي احتجت واعترضت على توقيع قيادة منظمة التحرير على اتفاق «أوسلو»، في السير على طريق المقاومة اللبنانية، وإنما أخذت مواقف ملتبسة فهي ضدّ الاتفاق، ولكنها تقتات منه، لذلك لم تأخذ موقفاً جدياً، ولم تقم بفعل حقيقي، فقد كان شعار القرار الوطني الفلسطيني المستقلّ، ملتزماً به عند معظم فصائل المنظمة، وكان القسم الأكبر والأقوى هو مَن اتخذ القرار ووقع على الاتفاق بصفته المذكورة.

الشاهد الثاني في هذا المقال، أنّ دولة الإمارات العربية، لم تفعل أكثر من السير على الطريق ذاتها التي طرقها من قبل الرئيس المصري أنور السادات وخلفاؤه ورئيس منظمة التحرير ثم السلطة الفلسطينية وخليفته، والعاهل الأردني الراحل والحالي، بناء على ما تقدّم فإنّ خبر إعلان التطبيع الإماراتي (الإسرائيلي) لا يجب أن يمثل مفاجأة غير متوقعة لمن يتابع أو يقرأ الأحداث، وإنما هو نتيجة رياضية لما حصل في السابق، ولن تكون مفاجأة عندما تلحق البحرين وعُمان ويمن عبد ربه منصور هادي والسودان وليبيا الحفترية بالركب.

لا يرى محمد بن زايد أنه قام بعمل من خارج الصندوق، وإنما سار على طريق معبّدة، سبقه في السير عليها من كان أوّلى بأن لا يسير في ذلك الطريق، واستعان محمد بن زايد بما يدعم ذلك بالقول والفعل والإشارة الرمزية، فهو يدّعي انه قام بذلك في سبيل درء الخطر الذي تتخوّف منه قيادة السلطة الفلسطينية وهو مشروع الضمّ الذي أعلنت عنه الحكومة الإسرائيلية، أما شقيقه وزير الخارجية عبد الله بن زايد، فاستعار من القاموس السياسي الفلسطيني مفرداته، كما ورد في حديثه عبر الاتصال الهاتفي المرئي لحفل الإعلان عن قيام نادي الصداقة الإماراتي – الفلسطيني، الذي تزامن الإعلان عن تأسيسه مع وصول الطائرة الإسرائيلية إلى أبو ظبي، تحدث الوزير الإماراتي طويلاً وبشكل مجامل ولطيف، في ما يتعلق بدور ونشاط الجالية الفلسطينية في الإمارات، ثم انتقل ليؤكد موقف الإمارات الداعم لحلّ الدولتين وإقامة دولة فلسطينية على حدود الرابع من حزيران 1967 وعاصمتها القدس الشرقية، وذكّر المستمعين بالدعم التاريخي لدولة الإمارات للقضية الفلسطينية وهو في ذلك لم يخرج عن الموقف الرسمي الفلسطيني، ولكنه ذكّر أيضاً وشدّد على أنّ الإمارات صاحبة قرار إماراتي مستقل وسيادي، أما في مجال الإشارات الرمزية، فإنّ التوقيع الرسمي على الاتفاق سيكون في 13 أيلول المقبل وفي حديقة البيت الأبيض، وفي المكان والتاريخ ذاتهما الذي وقع به الاتفاق الفلسطيني الإسرائيلي، مع فارق 27 عاماً.

مع كلّ ما تقدّم فإني وكثيرون غيري لا يوافقون ولن يوافقوا على أية عملية تطبيع مع الاحتلال، ويدركون خطورة ذلك لا على الشأن الفلسطيني فحسب، وإنما على الإمارات أيضاً، ولنا في تجارب من وقع الدروس الكافية الوافية، فقد تمّ تسويق اتفاق كامب دافيد على أنّ مصر ستقفز لتصبح مثل الدول الأوروبية المتطورة والعصرية، وذلك عندما تحوّل الأرصدة المخصصة للمجهود الحربي، باتجاه مشاريع التنمية، والنتيجة أنّ مصر أصبحت أكثر فقراً، وأكثر ضعفاً، لدرجة أنها لم تعد قادرة على التصدي للتهديدات الاستراتيجية والوجودية، في هضبة الحبشة وسيناء وليبيا، ولم تتحوّل الضفة الغربية إلى سويسرا وغزة إلى سنغافورة، اثر توقيع اتفاق أوسلو، وإنما أصبحت الأراضي الفلسطينية تفتقر إلى أبسط مقوّمات البقاء، ولا يبقيها أو يقيها من الموت إلا المساعدات الخارجية المشروطة، وأموال المقاصة التي تتقاضاها بالنيابة عن السلطة «إسرائيل»، ثم تعيدها للسلطة قدر ما تشاء، وكيف ما تشاء، ووقت ما تشاء.

العلاقات الإماراتية العربية وكذلك الفلسطينية ستعود قريباً إلى سابق عهدها، والتجاذبات الإقليمية هي ما يدفعها نحو التوتر، وثمة فلسطينيون يعيشون في الإمارات ومصر والأردن، لا يجدون مكاناً آخر يذهبون إليه، وانتقاد الخطوة التطبيعية الإماراتية واجب، لكن الإسفاف والتطاول واستعمال ما في الجعبة من شتائم، لن يغيّر من الأمر، وفي النهاية لن يقبض محمد بن زايد من الإسرائيلي إلا الهباء والسراب، والسعيد من اتعظ بغيره، أما الشقي فهو لا يتعظّ إلا بنفسه وعلى حسابه.

بعد تحرير الجنوب اللبناني، وانتصار تموز/يوليو 2006، ودخول حزب الله إلى سوريا في العام 2013، وجد الحزب نفسه أمام سؤال حان وقته.

في السادس عشر من شباط/فبراير 1985، تلا الرئيس الحالي للمجلس السياسي لحزب الله، السيد إبراهيم أمين السيد، الرسالة المفتوحة التي وجهها حزب الله إلى المستضعفين في لبنان والعالم. بدا ما قاله آنذاك بياناً حماسياً، غريباً، بل ممعناً في غرابته، من مجموعة جديدة وافدة إلى مسرح الأحداث في لبنان، يحار مراقبوها في نسبتها إلى المجال الذي تنتمي إليه، والأهداف الكبيرة التي تطمح إلى تحقيقها.

التطلّعات العابرة للحدود التي تضمَّنتها الرسالة أقل ما كان يمكن أن يردّ عليها بعضهم في حينها، بأن يستخدم عبارة الزعيم السوفياتي جوزيف ستالين حين حذّروه من قوة الفاتيكان، فتساءل ساخراً: “كم دبابة عند بابا الفاتيكان؟”، أو بحسب نصّ آخر: “كم فرقة عسكرية يملكها البابا في الفاتيكان؟”.

مجموعة صغيرة حديثة العهد بالسياسة والقتال تدّعي لنفسها قوة خارقة، فتقول: “أما قدرتنا العسكرية، فلا يتخيّلَنَّ أحد حجمها، إذ ليس لدينا جهاز عسكري منفصل عن بقية أطراف جسمنا، بل إنّ كلاً منّا جندي مقاتل حين يدعو داعي الجهاد إنّنا متوجهون لمحاربة المنكر من جذوره، وأوّل جذور المنكر أميركا”.

أتصوّر مثلاً أن يقارن أحدهم بعد أن قرأ الرسالة بين الأحزاب القومية واليسارية التي كانت تحمل أحلام جماهيرها بالوحدة والتضامن والتكامل وتلاحم الجبهات، لدحر مشاريع الهيمنة الاستعمارية والانقضاض على “إسرائيل” وتدميرها واستعادة فلسطين من مغتصبيها، ولكنها مُنيت بعد مدة من انطلاقتها بفشل في أهدافها، وإحباطات في مشاعرها، ونكسات في نتائج أعمالها، وبين جماعة لا أرضية سياسية وعسكرية لها، تريد أن تختبر من جديد بـ”سوريالية ثورية” حجم الألم والأحلام الموجعة التي يُخلّفها طريق المحاولة والخطأ! لا بأس، يقول هذا البعض، فلتجرّب حظها من الخيبة والمرارة، ففي الإنسان دوماً شيء ما يقوده نحو حتفه وتلاشيه!

لكن لم تمرّ إلا سنوات قليلة حتى بدأ المراقبون يستكشفون شيئاً جديداً تماماً. رواية مختلفة تقول إنّه ليس بالضرورة أن يعيد التاريخ نفسه بطريقة حلزونية، فما رُصد بعد سنوات قلائل من تحولات وإنجازات وانتصارات، اتضح أنّها لم تكن استجابات عاطفية غاضبة متسرّعة على هوان قديم وعجز مقيم، بسبب ما حلّ من خراب داخل العالمين العربيّ والإسلاميّ، بل هي مبنيّة على رؤية علمية، وخطوات عملية، وعوامل تاريخية ودينية وجيوسياسية، ودوافع كافية لضمان اجتياز الصراع بنجاح. 

القضية لم تكن تتطلّب البتة عند “المؤسسيين الأوائل” تستراً على طرح ربما يؤدي إلى استنتاجات وتفسيرات خاطئة ومشوّهة، أو تستدعي مقاومة الفكرة المغرية القائلة إننا” أمة ترتبط مع المسلمين في أنحاء العالم كافة برباط عقائدي وسياسي متين هو الإسلام”، وبضرورة الدعوة” إلى إقامة جبهة عالمية للمستضعفين، لمواجهة مؤامرات قوى الاستكبار في العالم”، أو “أننا نطمح أن يكون لبنان جزءاً لا يتجزأ من الخارطة السياسية المعادية لأميركا والاستكبار العالمي وللصهيونية العالمية”، لجهة إفراطها وخروجها عن قوانين الاجتماع والسياسة اللبنانية.

لم يكن ذلك كله مدعاة للتحفظ، بل على العكس، جاء التأكيد في الرسالة على أهميته وقيمته الحقيقية، ولو كان العقل السياسي يضيق به، أو كان يطمح إلى ما يفوق إمكانيات الحزب آنذاك، لأنّ المبدأ العقائدي الذي كان يدفع في هذا السبيل، ويُملي هذه الاعتبارات، ويُذكي هذا الشعور، ويستجلب هذه الإرادة، كان أقوى من التصورات السيادية والدستورية السائدة، وأكبر من الوقائع والمعايير التي تحكم سلوك الدول وتوازناتها.

كل المؤمنين بالنهج الأصيل والعاملين في مداره كانوا مشغولين بالتأكيد أنّ أمةً جديدةً يجب أن تُولد من رحم التناقضات والصراعات المفتوحة على أكثر من ميدان. لم يشعروا بأنهم في مأزق أو تيه صحراوي لا يدري أحد منهم إلى ماذا يُفضي، بل كانوا على يقين من سلامة الطريق وتحقيق الأهداف.

 وإذا كانت بعض الحركات العابرة للحدود الدينية والجغرافية والعرقية في المنطقة العربية قد وصلت إلى طريق مسدود في نضالاتها، ولم تستطع تجاوز هزيمتها، بسبب طبيعة التكوين الفكري والسلوك السياسي الذي حوّلها إلى كتل جامدة معطلة، فإنّ التنظيم الجديد قد صمّم فكرته تصميماً ذهنياً صارماً، وحددّ لانطلاقته بداية واعية واعدة، وخلق تشكيلاً منفتحاً على الجهاد المحلي الحديث والإرث التاريخي القديم، بنحو يعيد هيكلة البنية الرمزية والإيديولوجية باستحضار ماضي الثائرين وإعادة دمجه بالحاضر، ثم إنّ هناك إدراكاً للثمن الفادح الذي يجب دفعه، لا أنّ القضية مجرد تكهن أو رغبة “صوتية” لا تنفع في الحقيقة أكثر من استدراج أقدام “المتكهّنين” إلى هاوية الوهم. 

كما أنّ التنبؤ بالنصر استشراف علميّ محفوف بالمخاطر، لا ينفصل لحظة واحدة عن الارتباط بالواقع الحي الذي يفرز الإنجازات والإخفاقات على السواء. ولأنّ صورة العدو أكثر تعقيداً من كونه مجرد مجنون يتغذى على القتل، فإنّ النصر ليس خبراً يُذاع، وإنما هو نضال محموم، ومقاومة ضارية واستراتيجية طويلة تتطلَّب قدرة عالية على تحمل الألم والصعاب، وإرادة فولاذية لمواصلة العمل، واعتماداً على الذات في النطاق الجغرافي المحلي، واستبعاداً كلياً لدور المنظمات الدولية التي تقف في معظم الأحيان إلى جانب الظالمين والغزاة، بدلاً من مساعدتها المستضعفين؛ أصحاب الحقوق المشروعة.

وكما يقول الشاعر عبد الرحمن الشرقاوي: “إنّ القضية ملكنا… هي عارنا أو فخرنا”، فالانهزام أو الانتصار تعبير واقعي متعلق بطبيعة المعركة وظروفها، ولكن المهم في الأمر أن لا ينضوي المقاومون تحت أيّ مظلة غير موثوقة، ولا ينساقوا وراء منهج غير إسلامي. أما الاعتماد على الذات، فلا يعني التردد عن قبول مساعدة قوى الأمة المختلفة، بل المطلوب أن تتحرك كل الطاقات في التعامل مع الأزمات والتحديات في إطار الوحدة أو “الجسد الذي إذا اشتكى منه عضو، تداعت له سائر الأعضاء بالسهر والحمى”.

لذلك، يؤكد المقطع التالي العلائقية والوشائجية المطلوبة بين الأطراف وقلب الأمة: “إننا أبناء أمة حزب الله في لبنان… إننا نعتبر أنفسنا جزءاً من أمة الإسلام في العالم، والتي تواجه أعتى هجمة استكبارية من الغرب والشرق على السواء”.

هذا التعاضد بين فئة في لبنان وفئة أو فئات في بلدان أخرى أشبه بصيغة قانونية لازمة بين طرفين أو أكثر، تقتضي كل أشكال التعاون المتاحة، ما يجعل النسق الديني المتشكل عن هذا التوليف “المقدس” يلبي الوظيفة الإيديولوجية والسياسية للحزب الذي يسعى إلى هدم أركان الأعداء في البقعة التي يتحرك فيها. 

إنّ هذا الاتصال المقصود بالأمة يهدف الحزب الجديد من ورائه إلى التمايز عن مغالطات نخب حزبية وعلمائية على امتداد المنطقة، كانت تنشر الاستسلام والقدرية، وعوّضت المقاومة بالتواكل والغيب، فكان ضرورياً تطهير الإسلام مما علق به من تشويهات، واستدعاؤه مجدداً ليكون المرجع النظري والحركي الذي يُلهم المسلمين اللبنانيين طريقة النهوض، وبناء العلاقات، ومواجهة التحديات بكل تشعباتها.

ولكنَّ مشكلة هذا الاتصال، في رأي البعض، أنّه يهزّ التكوين الوطني للحزب، ويشكّك في درجة التزامه بالقضايا اللبنانية التي يُفترض أن يُدافع عنها تحت سقف سيادة الدولة، لكنّه من خلال تفضيله إطار الأمة على إطار الوطن، وتوهينه البعد الداخلي في مقابل تعظيمه البعد الخارجي، يبلغ الرجحان مستوى يجعل الحزب يفقد خصائصه ومشروعيته المحلية، بيد أنّ حزب الله بانخراطه في محاربة الاحتلال الإسرائيلي ومشاريع الهيمنة الغربية على لبنان، يعيد إنتاج الأجوبة الحاسمة حول مَن صنع الهزائم، ومَن صنع العار، ومَن جلب التخلف والهوان لهذا الوطن.

هنا يأتي النص الديني الإسلامي، لا كدليل نظري فحسب، وإنما كسياق واقعي اجتماعي، وكممارسة سياسية وجهادية ملموسة، فحضور الدين علامة على الوعي الجماعي، باعتباره وسيلة لتغيير مقاصد الناس وتوجهاتهم، وأيضاً باعتباره هدفاً لتعديل مبادئ الحكم وموازين القوى، فالنص الديني بقدر ما يسمح بالكشف عن هوية فرد أو مجتمع، فإنه يؤسّس لنهج مختلف وأوضاع جديدة.

وحين يعلن الحزب عن الإسلام كمرجعية للحياة، فإنّه يموقع ذاته داخل النسق العام للأمة في عمقه وامتداداته، فلا يعترف بأي حدود ومسافات جغرافية تعترض طريق الأخوة الدينية! الإسلام هنا لا يحضر كطقوس يكتنفها مبدأ حرية ممارسة المعتقد الإيماني فحسب، بل كإطار شمولي أممي لا تنفلت منه قضية من قضايا الإنسان، في وقت يأتي تحرك الحزب في المجال السياسي أو العسكري ليخلق تميّزه وفرادته، في مقابل السكونيين من النخب والحركات الدينية التي تبحث عن الهروب خارجاً، وبعيداً من الواقع، لئلا تصطدم بقسوته ومتطلبات الحضور الحي فيه.

لذلك، لم يكن ممكناً للحزب أن يتطور خارج عملية الصراع مع أعداء الأمة، فالحزب الذي تنظم الشريعة الإسلامية كل وجوده ومساراته في هذه الحياة، يشعر بأن هيمنة القوى الاستعمارية وتدخّلها في شؤون المسلمين يشكل انتهاكاً صارخاً لا يمكن القبول به.

هذه النقطة بالذات ستمنح الحزب إمكانية كبيرة لقيادة الجمهور وتحريكه نحو مديات الأمة الواسعة ومداراتها الرحبة. على هذا الأساس، تستوي فكرة الجهاد كمصدر للشرعية، وتحضر المقاومة بوصفها سياقاً تحررياً على المستوى الوطني، وعلى مستوى الأمة أيضاً.

ولهذا تأتي العبارة التالية: “إننا أبناء أمة حزب الله التي نصر الله طليعتها في إيران، وأسّست من جديد نواة دولة الإسلام المركزية في العالم… لسنا حزباً تنظيمياً مغلقاً، ولسنا إطاراً سياسياً ضيقاً”، لتؤكد الارتباط المطلوب والحركة الحارة المتوقعة، انطلاقاً من مستويين ديني وسياسي؛ الأول استجابة لأمل (وعد إلهي) بالاستخلاف والتمكين، والآخر استجابة لموقف عملي يقتضي تحمل التكاليف والمسؤوليات والسعي لبناء التجربة الجديدة.

صحيح أنّ دوافع النشوة والفوران بعد انتصار الثورة الإسلامية في إيران مسؤولة عن تحرّك الأحاسيس الدينية بطريقة عفوية وتلقائية، لكن لم يكن ذلك خارج رؤية استراتيجية وعقلانية في بناء السياسات والبرامج. هنا تأتي النظرية، أي الأفكار التي تشكل أساس الإيديولوجيا التي على الحزب أن يعمل بها في ما يتعلَّق بأمور الحرب والسلم، لتستقر ضمن قالب “نظرية ولاية الفقيه”، التي أبرزها الإمام الخميني كإرث مخزني قديم، ولتكون البوصلة التي احتاجها حزب الله لترسم له التوجهات والقواعد العامة، ولتخلق لجمهوره الاهتمام المطلوب بقضايا الإسلام والصراع في المنطقة والعالم.

لكن ظهور هذه النظرية كتعبير موضوعي عن المقومات التي لا بدَّ من توفرها لتهيئ للحزب مكاناً بين الحركات الثورية، وتمنحه هويته الخاصة، كان مشروطاً بالظرف التاريخي، وهو ظرف الثورة الإسلامية، وانتشار شراراتها في أرجاء المنطقة، وتفاعل حركات المقاومة والتحرر المناهضة للمشاريع الأميركية والإسرائيلية مع تطلعاتها، وتحفّز مثقفين وعلماء دين وكتاب ونشطاء سياسيين على طرح ما لم يكونوا في السابق يجسرون على الاقتراب منه، وكذلك التحولات المحلية في لبنان العالق بين الهيمنة اليمينية الطائفية والاحتلال الإسرائيلي لقسم من الجنوب اللبناني، ووجود الفدائيين الفلسطينيين الذين أغنوا الأرض بالبندقيات والشعارات الثورية الحماسية.

ضمن إطار هذه المجموعة من الأحداث بذاك السياق الطولي، بنى حزب الله مفاهيمه التأسيسية حول الجهاد المحلي والأممي، والتي لم تنحصر بالمناسبة في الوعي المكتسب من طرف نظرية ولاية الفقيه والثورة الإيرانية، بل في عمقها الممتد إلى باطن البنية الاجتماعية اللبنانية، بعناصرها التاريخية المُستلهمة من الاحتكاك بتجارب نضالات ثورية في مناطق مختلفة من العالم، ولكن عبقريته التي طورها لاحقاً أمينه العام الحالي السيد حسن نصر الله، تكمن في أنّه استطاع أن يحمل بقوة فكرة جاء أوانها، وأن يصعد بتيار استيقن أنّ حركته نحو الآماد الواسعة بدأت. 

بعد تحرير الجنوب اللبناني، وانتصار تموز/يوليو 2006، ودخول حزب الله إلى سوريا في العام 2013، وجد الحزب نفسه أمام سؤال حان وقته: كيف يمكن تشبيك الجبهات لتحقيق الهدف المقدس، وهو إزالة “إسرائيل” من الوجود؟

لقد فشل تيار القومية العربية في توظيف الإمكانيات البشرية والمادية واستثمارها وإدارتها لإنزال هزيمة بالعدو، وفشلت الأحزاب اليسارية العربية في بناء مناخ عام يتيح اتخاذ قرارات تتطلَّبها ظروف الصراع، فلم تستطع تلك القوى التي لها ارتباطات واسعة خارج المنطقة العربية تشكيل بيئة دولية للصراع، وتوجيه الحركة السياسية أو العسكرية العربية في إطار خطة عامة جدّية تستهدف إنهاك الكيان الإسرائيلي وإرباكه.

المراوغات والاستعراضات، وأنصاف الضربات، وتصادم الأولويات، وتضارب التصورات، لم تؤدِ إلا إلى تحويل الصراع من صراع عربي – إسرائيلي إلى صراع عربي – عربي. تحوّلت الحرب مع “إسرائيل” إلى شبه حرب، والتسوية معها إلى استراتيجية انجرّت إليها الأنظمة على نحو متتالٍ. 

حزب الله، في المقابل، أدرك أنّ “التفكك العربي الكبير” الذي أرادته أميركا عبر “الربيع العربي” يجب أن يُرد عليه بالعودة إلى فكرة “أمة حزب الله” العابرة لدول سايكس – بيكو المقطعة لأوصال الوحدة السياسية والدينية. قد يكون ذلك شيئاً مثيراً في لحظة مختلطة بالتحولات ودماء الشهداء ونداء القدس الغلّاب الذي ينفذ كالأذان إلى أعماق الحالمين بالنصر الأكبر.

 أفراد الحزب الذين قطعوا خطوة في هذا الطريق مع الدخول إلى سوريا، وتهشّم الحدود بين أكثر من دولة من دول المنطقة، أضفوا على الموقعية الجديدة لحزبهم مسحة دينية ومسحة تاريخية. مقطع من الرسالة يقول: “إننا نعلن بصراحة ووضوح أننا أمة لا تخاف إلا الله، ولا ترتضي الظلم والعدوان والمهانة، وأنّ أميركا وحلفاءها من دول حلف شمال الأطلسي والكيان الصهيوني… مارسوا ويمارسون العدوان علينا، ويعملون على إذلالنا باستمرار. لذا، فإننا في حالة تأهب مستمر ومتصاعد”.

المطلوب، إذاً، بناء وحشد قوى الأمة التي بدأت طلائعها تتبلور في اليمن “أنصار الله”، والعراق” الحشد الشعبي”، وفلسطين “فصائل المقاومة المختلفة”، لتغلب على هذه العطالة التاريخية. أمة حزب الله تحتاج إذاً إلى القدرات الكبرى والمشاعر العظيمة، وإلى موقف جماهيري يستهدف التقدم بالوعي والإلهام، وذلك بالخروج من الالتزام الجغرافي المزعج، لجهة عبئه الداخلي المعاكس لحركة الساعة السريعة المستمرة! 

اليوم، ليس لهذه القوى سبب يؤطرها ويحدّها في بقعة جغرافية واحدة وفي مهام محلية محددة. الأحداث الكبرى في المنطقة حوّلت الدول إلى حدود وسكان ومتوسط دخل وميزان مدفوعات، والأنظمة إلى بروتوكولات واحتفالات وميديا، فيما حزب الله يدرك ضرورة أن تتحول هذه القوى المقاومة إلى فكرة وتيار وحركة تاريخية، وينبغي أن لا يدعها أحد مكتوفة اليدين في الحروب المقبلة إذا ما هدد وجود الأمة خطر، أو دفعها طموح محموم إلى خوض حربها المقدسة نحو فلسطين!

هل حانت اللحظة فعلاً؟ وهل لدى حزب الله الشجاعة الكافية ليقود جماهير الأمة لتوحيد التراب العربي، مدشناً مرحلة جديدة من تاريخ حركات المقاومة في المنطقة والعالم؟ وهل يفعل السيد حسن نصر الله ما لم يقدر عليه جمال عبد الناصر؟

To Understand Iran’s 150-Year Fight, Follow the Trail of Blood and Oil

This past Sunday, April 17th, a dispute between Iran and the U.S. occurred over the U.S.’ decision to increase its military presence in Caribbean and Eastern Pacific waters, with the purported reason being a counter-narcotics campaign.

Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres this past Sunday, that the real purpose for this move by the U.S. is to “intervene and create disruption in the transfer of Iran’s fuel to Venezuela.” In the same letter, Zarif expressed concern over “the United States’ intention to consider dangerous, unlawful and provocative measures against Iranian oil tankers engaged in perfectly lawful international commerce with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.”

The Iranian deployment consists of five tankers carrying around $45.5million of gasoline and related products, as part of a wider deal between Iran and Venezuela. The U.S. has imposed sanctions on both nations’ oil exports.

For the first time since 1962, Iran has requested IMF assistance due to severe shortages created by the COVID-19 pandemic, with Iran requesting an emergency loan of $5 billion. However, the request is currently being blocked by the U.S., which accounts for slightly more than 16.5% of IMF’s voting shares and has an effective veto over decisions.

Iran is presently experiencing a critical shortage of medicines and equipment amid the pandemic, and yet is prohibited from purchasing medicines and supplies because of the banking sanctions.

It is clear that these manoeuvres against Iran are not on behalf of anyone’s “security” but rather an attempt to force Iran to finally bend the knee and be reduced to a state of complete dependence.

Iran has fought a long fight to claim its independence from western powers.

However, what if I were to tell you that once there was a time when Iran and the U.S. had good relations and that the U.S. was in fact the leading promoter and supporter of Iran’s sovereignty?

Almost out of a Shakespearean play of tragedy and betrayal, the relationship was jeopardised by a third player. As identified by John Perkins, in his book Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, the first ever U.S. coup against a foreign country was the overthrow of Iran’s nationalist Prime Minister Mosaddegh in 1953. However, what is often left out…is that it was a British authored and designed operation.

In order for us to understand how and why the U.S. was dragged into such an affair, our story starts 150 years ago…

Dieu et mon droit

It all started in 1872, with Nasir al-Din Shah having granted to the British Baron Julius de Reuter, rights to Iran’s entire economic estate. Reuter not only controlled Iran’s industry, farming, and rail transportation, but also held the right to issue currency and to set up a national bank, called the Imperial Bank of Persia, which was under direct British control.

In 1901, Muzzaffar al-Din Shah negotiated what became known as the D’Arcy Contract, granting William Knox D’Arcy, a millionaire London socialite, the special and exclusive privilege to basically own and manage the natural gas and petroleum of Iran for a term of 60 years.

In May 26th 1908 D’Arcy struck pay-dirt in Iran, discovering a huge oil field in Masjed-Soleiman. Britain immediately set up APOC in 1908, purchasing the rights to the black gold from D’Arcy. Six years later, First Lord of the Admiralty Winston Churchill gave the order to purchase 51% of APOC, effectively nationalizing the company. This was to ensure the free flow of oil to the British navy. It was the first company to extract petroleum from Iran.

Iran received only 16% of the royalties on the oil.

Britain continued to pursue total control of Iran, not through colonial occupation, but rather through economic “agreements”. In the midst of carving up the empire’s new “jewels” of the Middle East from the Sykes-Picot fraud on the Arabian people and the illegal British occupation of Palestine, the notorious Anglo-Persian Agreement of Aug 19, 1919 was also signed, with London effectively turning Iran into a de facto protectorate run by British “advisors”. Britain had succeeded in becoming the masters of Iran’s natural resources through this agreement.

Iran received almost nothing in return, not even oil from APOC for domestic consumption, but rather had to import it from the Soviet Union!

On Nov 28th 1932 Reza Shah announced that he would be cancelling the British concession to APOC. The British Navy was heavily dependent on cheap Iranian oil and thus Britain refused to acquiesce. A compromise was reached in 1933 through bilateral negotiations and the British managed to extend their concession up until 1993! Iran had succeeded in getting the British to pay a higher price but it still did not control its own oil.

The American Relationship

Despite claiming a neutral stance for Iran during WWII, word had gotten out that Reza Shah was apparently sympathetic to the cause of Hitler. The argument was thus used that a pro-German Iran could become a launching pad for an attack against the Soviet Union, justifying British and Soviet entry into the country on Aug 25th 1941 for what would be a several years’ occupation. On Sept 16th Reza was forced by the British to abdicate and go into exile transferring power to his 22 year old son, Mohammad Reza Shah.

Mohammad Reza Shah was not happy with the joint occupation and sought an American military presence as a mediator to British and Soviet interests. The Shah sent a letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt on Aug 25th 1941 asking him to:

“be good enough to interest yourself in this incident…I beg Your Excellency to take efficacious and urgent humanitarian steps to put an end to these acts of aggression.”

In response to this plea, Roosevelt sent Gen. Patrick Hurley as his special representative to Iran to help prepare what was to become the Iran Declaration, finally adopted at the Tehran Conference where Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill would agree to guarantee the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Iran.

The Iran Declaration was used to finally end the foreign occupation of Iran after WWII, despite some resistance, and would play a crucial role in Iran’s future fight for sovereignty. The Iran Declaration thus proved itself to be more than just words, and this would certainly never have happened if not for FDR.

As part of Hurley’s report to FDR, he wrote some biting words on the present system of British imperialism, “The imperialism of Germany, Japan, Italy, France… will, we hope, end or be radically revised by this war [WWII]. British imperialism seems to have acquired a new life. . . What appears to be a new life… is the result of the infusion, into its emaciated form, of the blood of productivity and liberty from a free nation [Iran] through Lend-Lease.”

Roosevelt sent a copy of the Hurley report to Churchill with his thoughts on the matter: “The enclosed memorandum was sent to me… I rather like his general approach to the care and education of what used to be called ‘backward countries’…the point of all this is that I do not want the United States to acquire a ‘zone of influence,’ or any other nation for that matter [in Iran].”

Churchill was less than enthusiastic on the Hurley-FDR vision. He was particularly irked by Hurley’s notion that British imperialism were in conflict with democracy.

FDR died only a few months later, and with his interment, Hurley’s plans for American support for a sovereign and democratic Iran as a model for the rest of the Middle East were relegated to the dust bins of time and forgotten by much of the world.

Following WWII, nationalistic sentiments were on the rise including in the Middle East, the most notable being Iran. However, following the death of FDR the British were free to disingenuously respond to Iran’s request for better economic conditions by offering what was called the “Supplemental Agreement”, in May 1949. This entailed a better payment in royalties but still denied Iran any oversight over accounts or any other form of control over Iranian oil.

Enter Mosaddegh

In the late 1940s, a new political force emerged in Iran called the National Front led by Mohammad Mosaddegh. Their campaign was centered on the demand to nationalize the AIOC and the people of Iran were in accord, electing Mosaddegh into the Majlis (parliament) in 1949.

Mosaddegh lost no time, and quickly became the head of the Majlis Oil Committee which was tasked to study the British “Supplemental Agreement”. When it came time to put it to a vote on Nov 25th 1950, the committee delivered a resounding “no” to the British proposition.

Less than four months later, the Majlis voted on March 15th 1951 for nationalization of the AIOC, and it was renamed as the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC). Less than two months later, Mosaddegh became Prime Minister of Iran on April 28th 1951.

The British were left empty handed.

Twice the British tried to argue their case before the international community, once in May 1951 at The Hague and again in October at the UN Security Council. Both attempts were to lose to Mosaddegh’s defense. Mosaddegh had earned a Ph.D. in law from the Neuchatel Law School in Switzerland in 1914.

This was anything but a formal victory. It was to set a precedent in the international community that a country’s right to national sovereignty would be favored over Britain’s imperial “claims”, which were exposed during these two very public trials as amounting to nothing more than the threats and bribes of pirates.

At the UN Security Council, Mosaddegh responded to Britain’s imperial ambitions over Iran with these eloquent words:

“My countrymen lack the bare necessities of existence…Our greatest natural asset is oil. This should be the source of work and food for the population of Iran. Its exploitation should properly be our national industry, and the revenue from it should go to improve our conditions of life. As now organized, however, the petroleum industry has contributed practically nothing to the well-being of the people or to the technical progress or industrial development of my country…if we are to tolerate a situation in which the Iranian plays the part of a mere manual worker in the oil fields…and if foreign exploiters continue to appropriate practically all of the income, then our people will remain forever in a state of poverty and misery. These are the reasons that have prompted the Iranian parliament… to vote unanimously in favor of nationalizing the oil industry.”

A British coup

The British were fuming over Mosaddegh’s high profile humiliation of the British Empire’s claim to Iran’s oil. Mosaddegh would have to be deposed, however, this could not look like a British retaliation.

During Averell Harrimann’s visit to Tehran in July 1951, in an attempt to salvage the broken British-Iranian relationship, Mosaddegh is reported to have said,

“You do not know how crafty they are. You do not know how evil they are. You do not know how they sully everything they touch.”

As coup rumours circulated and reports were rife of British contact being sought with Iranian military officers, Mosaddegh severed diplomatic relations with the UK on Oct 16th 1952. The British were further humiliated and had to leave the country taking their agents with them.

It was at this point that Churchill “invited” his lap dog, de facto president Truman, to participate in his vision for regime change in Iran. In November 1952, NSC 136 and 136/I were written into record, Truman had agreed to promote direct intervention in Iran through covert operations and even military force. A detailed plan was approved on Jan 8th 1953 which was 12 days before Eisenhower was inaugurated.

The management of this covert operation was under the treasonous Dulles brothers, who would use the very same technique when JFK first entered office in setting him up with the Bay of Pigs fiasco, however, JFK managed to publicly expose Allan Dulles in this scheme and fired him. Dulles had been the Director of the CIA for 8 years up until that point, and was Deputy Director of the CIA for two years prior. Refer to my paper on this for further details.

A preliminary meeting in Washington saw representatives of the Near East and Africa Division (NEA) with British Intelligence. The key personalities were Christopher Montague Woodhouse who had been station chief for British Intelligence in Tehran and on the American side Kermit Roosevelt (son of Teddy Roosevelt) acting as NEA Division Chief. It was the British who would propose a joint political action to remove Prime Minister Mosaddegh according to CIA documents, which were in part leaked by the New York Times on April 16th 2000. The final plan was codenamed TPAJAX.

Appendix B, aka “London Draft of the TPAJAX Operational Plan” was black propaganda aimed at hammering out these themes 1) Mosaddegh favors the Tudeh Party and the USSR 2) Mosaddegh is an enemy of Islam since he associates with Tudeh.

The aim of such tactics was to drive a wedge between Mosaddegh and his National Front on the one side and his clerical allies, especially Kashani on the other. Demonstrations against Mosaddegh in the streets were to provide the pretext for bought MPs to hold a vote against him, if he refused to step down the plan was to have Fazlollah Zahedi, leader of the opposition, to arrest him. Zahedi, as laid out in Appendix B was selected by the British to replace Mosaddegh as Prime Minister after the coup.

Chief of Staff Gen. Taghi Riahi found out about the coup plans and alerted Mosaddegh in time. When the chief of the Imperial Guards, Col. Nasiri went to Mosaddegh’s house the evening before the planned coup day (Aug 16th) to arrest him, Nasiri himself was taken as prisoner by the pro- Mosaddegh military. Zahedi managed to flee.

The coup attempt had failed and the word spread fast, crowds flooded the streets supporting Mosaddegh and denouncing the Shah. The Shah left the country quickly.

The CIA informed of the fiasco alerted Kermit Roosevelt that he should leave Iran immediately. But Kermit believed the coup could still work and would make a second attempt three days later. British Intelligence and CIA orchestrated demonstrations set to the streets on Aug 19th. The royal decrees signed by the Shah for the deposal of Mosaddegh to be replaced by Zahedi were made public in the press that very day with the radio news announcing: that Zahedi was Prime Minister, that Mosaddegh had been ousted and that the Shah would return soon.

Military units were dispatched to Mosaddegh’s home. As his house was being destroyed by gunfire and tanks, Mosaddegh managed to escape. It is said he later turned himself in to the authorities.

After a ten-week period in a military prison, Mosaddegh was tried on charges of treason, because he had allegedly mobilized for a rebellion and had contradicted the Shah. In fact, the accused treason was a nationalistic response to a foreign led coup.

Mosaddegh was promptly found guilty and sentenced to death, later lessened to three years in prison, followed by house arrest.

Mosaddegh’s response to the kangaroo court proceedings was,

“My only crime is that I nationalized the oil industry and removed from this land the network of colonialism and the political and economic influence of the greatest empire [the British Empire] on Earth.”

Members of his government were also arrested, as were the leading military who remained loyal to him. Six hundred of the 6, 000 of these men were executed.

Even after Mosaddegh had passed away, on March 5th, 1967, his enemies were fearful of his influence. Mosaddegh had requested that upon his death, he be buried in the public graveyard beside the victims of the political violence that occurred on the 21st July 1952 from British-backed Ahmad Qavam who ordered soldiers to shoot at Mosaddegh nationalists during a demonstration, resulting in a blood bath. Not wanting his grave to become the site of political manifestations, a public funeral for Mosaddegh was denied and his body was quietly buried underneath the floorboards of a room in his house.

Towards a “New Cold War” in the Middle East: Geopolitics of the Persian Gulf and the Battle for Oil and Gas

The foundations of the great Near East were established in the Pact of Quincey (1945) following the doctrine of the Franco-British Sykes-Picot agreements of 1916 that favored the regional division of power in areas of influence and sustained on the tripod US-Egypt- Saudi Arabia. This doctrine consisted in the endemic survival in Egypt of pro-western autocratic military governments, which ensured the survival of the State of Israel (1948) and provided the US Navy with privileged access to the Suez Canal, a crucial shortcut for access direct to the United Arab Emirates, Iraq and Afghanistan, remaining as a firm bastion of US geopolitical interests in the area, especially after the fall of the Shah of Persia in 1980.

The other pillar of the agreement consisted of the privileged access of the United States to Saudi Arabian oil in exchange for preserving its autocratic regime and favoring the spread of Wahhabism (doctrine founded by Mohamed Abdel Wahab in the mid-eighteenth century with the aim of becoming a vision attractive to Islam and exportable to the rest of the Arab countries), with which the Saudi theocracy became a regional power that provided the US with the key to energy dominance while serving as a retaining wall for socialist and pan-Arab currents. Finally, after the Six Day War (1967), the geostrategic puzzle of the Middle East and the Near East was completed with the establishment of autocratic and pro-Western regimes in the countries surrounding Israel (Libya, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Iran), leaving the Palestinians confined in the ghettos of the West Bank and Gaza.

Iraq and the Biden Plan

The Biden-Gelb Plan, approved by the US Senate in 2007 and rejected by Condolezza Rice, Secretary of State with George W. Bush, provided for the establishment in Iraq of a federal system in order to prevent the collapse in the country after the withdrawal of US troops and proposed separating Iraq into Kurdish, Shiite and Sunni entities, under a federal government in Baghdad charged with the care of the borders and the administration of oil revenues.

Thus, we will attend the appearance of Free Kurdistan presided over by Masoud Barzani with capital in Kirkust and that would include annexed areas taking advantage of the power vacuum left by the Iraqi Army such as Sinkar or Rabia in the province of Ninive, Kirkuk and Diyala as well as all the cities of Syrian Kurdish ethnicity (except Hasaka and Qamishli) occupied by the Kurdish insurgency of the BDP.

The new Kurdistan will have the blessings of the United States and will have financial autonomy by owning 20% of the farms of all Iraqi crude oil with the “sine qua non condition” to supply Turkey, Israel and Eastern Europe with Kurdish oil through the Kirkust pipeline that empties into the Turkish port of Ceyhan. On the other hand, the Sunistan with capital in Mosul and that would cover the Sunni cities of Ramadi, Falluja, Mosul, Tal Afar and Baquba (Sunni triangle), with strong connections with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates and that would later lead to a radical pan-Islamist movement that it will use the oil weapon to strangle the western economies in the horizon of the next five-year period.

Finally, as the third leg of the tripod, we would have Iraqi Chi with capital in Baghdad that will counterbalance Saudi Wahhabism and that will gravitate in the orbit of influence of Iran, which will make Iran a great regional power in clear conflict with Saudi Arabia and Israel.

Iran, guardian of the Gulf and energy power

Iran acquired a regional power dimension thanks to the erratic policy of the United States in Iraq, (fruit of the political administration myopia obsessed with the Axis of Evil) by eliminating its ideological rivals, the Sunni Taliban radicals and Saddam Hussein with the subsequent power vacuum in the area. He also proposed a global negotiation with the contact group to deal with all the aspects that have confronted Western countries for thirty years, both the suffocating embargo that has plagued the Islamic Republic and the Iranian assets blocked in the United States, the role Iran regional cooperation and security cooperation in Iraq and Afghanistan.The Middle East: A Review of Geopolitical Structures, Vectors of Power Dynamic

Furthermore, the revitalization of the 2010 energy cooperation agreement between Iraq, Iran and Syria for the construction of the South Pars-Homms gas pipeline that would connect the Persian Gulf with the Mediterranean Sea would relativize the strategic importance of the Trans-Adriatic Gas Pipeline Project (TAP) , (a substitute for the failed Nabucco gas pipeline designed by the US to transport Azerbaijani gas to Europe through Turkey), as well as the relevant role of the United Arab Emirates as suppliers of crude oil to the West, which would explain the eagerness of Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey for torpedoing him.

Are Iraq and Iran the bait for the US to involve Russia and China in a new war?

We would thus be at a crucial moment to define the mediate future of the Middle East and Middle East (PROME East), since after the arrival of Donald Trump from the White House the pressure of the pro-Israeli lobby of the USA (AIPAC) would be increasing to proceed the destabilization of Iran by expeditious methods, a moment that will be used by the United States, Great Britain and Israel to proceed to redesign the cartography of the unrelated puzzle formed by these countries and thus achieve strategically advantageous borders for Israel, following the plan orchestrated 60 years ago. jointly by the governments of Great Britain, the United States and Israel and which would have the backing of the main western allies. In a first phase of said plan, the US Senate unanimously renewed the Sanctions Against Iran Act (ISA) until 2026 and after the launch of a new ballistic missile by Iran, Trump expanded the sanctions against several Iranian companies related to ballistic missiles without violating the Nuclear Agreement signed between the G + 5 and Iran in 2015, known as the Comprehensive Joint Action Plan (JCPOA) and which would only be fireworks to distract attention from the Machiavellian Plan outlined by the Anglo-Jewish Alliance in 1960 that would include the Balkanization of Iran and whose turning point would be the recent assassination of the charismatic General Qasem Soleimani.

This war could lead to a new local episode that would be involve a return to a “recurrent endemism” of the US-Russia Cold War involving both superpowers having as necessary collaborations the major regional powers namely Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Iran.

This Cold War scenario would cover the geographic space that extends from the Mediterranean arc (Libya, Syria and Lebanon) to Yemen and Somalia and having Iraq as its epicenter (recalling the Vietnam War with Lindon B. Johnson (1963-1.969).

Thus, Syria, Iraq and Iran would be the bait to attract both Russia and China and after triggering a concatenation of local conflicts (Syria, Iraq and Lebanon), this potentially could evolve towards a major regional conflict that could mark the future of the area in the coming years.

Trump’s Kurdish SDF Criminals: More Ethnic Cleansing in Qamishli

The Trump regime’s SDF mercenaries continue to engage in the ethnic cleansing of indigenous Syrians from the Qamishli area of the Levantine republic. Local news has reported another attempted bombing of the Church of the Virgin Mary along with two other, unnamed churches, and the closure of fourteen Christian schools in the northeastern region of the country, under the protection of American illegal military troops.

Though the NATO-armed SDF (Arabic acronym, Qasad) militia is claimed to be Kurds yearning to breathe free, the traitorous separatists have merely been cannon fodder under an umbrella gang of foreign wetworkers from various NATO countries, under the protection of war criminal US military. The murderous fodder against Syrians were originally the YPG, but as this gang of thugs is on America’s terrorist list, Pentagon leaders under Obama declared a new name was required, to better market these thugs who have kidnapped Syrians, torched Syrian wheat fields, slaughtered Syrian law enforcement. In short, these terrorists are attempting to ethnically cleanse native Syrians from their land.

On 1 July, as a preemptive threat against the probability of Russia and China thwarting an extension of the new Sykes-Picot UN/NATO Treaty, Trump’s ambassador Kelly Craft warned of [more] mass graves in the S.A.R. should the NATO dictum not be accepted. Almost immediately upon the expiration of Security Council Resolution 2504 (2020), news came of another impending false flag chemical attack by al Qaeda operatives occupying Idlib, along with a strange blackmail attempt by certain al Qaeda factions against American illegal Bilal Abdul Kareem — the release of his degenerate, naked selfies (which the friend of child beheaders subsequently referred to as family photos) — the same terrorist faction which recently abducted Tauqir ‘Tox’ Sharif, Brit illegal from a Syrian home which he and his also English wife had been occupying.

Demonstrating the utter arrogance western colonialism — even while NATO countries hypocritically decry US racism, and westerners continue to feign concern over the brutal murder of George Floyd, using his death as a cover story to break from the COVID-19 lockdown — imperialist pathogenic illegals in Syria claim that the church was bombed by ISIS.

That there is no such place as Rojava is of no concern when it comes to the rancid white man’s burden to impose empire on nation-states. A gaggle of NATO operatives — represented by a Brit, an American, and a Frenchie — have been squatting in northeast Syria since 2018, and have created the imperial Rojava Information Center, a NATO independent “media bridge” from the separatist, Israelized, Kurds, to the “outside [NATO] world” (because ordinary Syrian Kurds could never run their own newspaper, without NATO operatives).

The war criminal hypocrisy of such humanitarian bastards is a bottomless pit of depravity. Ignoring the fact that the US armed SDF previously blown up vehicles near the Church of the Virgin Mary, that they have stolen Syrian homes and kidnapped Syrian children, forcing them into criminal conscription, this NATO-sponsored gang under the protection of the Trump regime illegals in the SAR, have ironically claimed that the US-created ISIS committed the bombing in Qamishli to disturb the Garden of Eden enjoyed by the US-created SDF and Muslim Arabs and Arab Christians trying to break free of their native country. The vicious sadism of this colonial criminality is further flouted in the incestuous reporting on the ‘RIC’ by the Defense Post/Global Post NATO independent sites created by a Turkish student who allegedly came to the US to study but decided to stay.

Let the western world not be fake concerned over domestic racism while flouting support for peak colonialism.

Let Trump’s imperialism in Syria be brought to an end.

ثابتتان كبيرتان لا يمكن لأحد تجاهلهما، الأولى حجم الأثر الوجداني والنفسي والثقافي الذي رسمه استشهاد مؤسس الحزب السوري القومي الاجتماعي وزعيمه أنطون سعاده قبل سبعين عاماً ونيفاً، وبقاؤه حدثاً ملحمياً حياً يفضح خيبة وخيانة نظام الملل والطوائف لفكرة دولة السيادة الوطنية منذ تأسيسها حتى اليوم، وارتسام صورة نورانيّة لقامة الزعيم كأيقونة خالصة مصفاة من الفكر والسمو الوجوديّ على الذات لحساب الذوبان في الفكرة وتجسّدها، بصورة أقرب للقداسة لأيقونة نابغة وعبقريّة، ما زادها الزمان إلا لمعاناً كالذهب الخالص، بحيث تصير الذكرى كلما أوغل الزمان بها عميقاً، أشدّ حضوراً وتأثيراً، والثانية حجم الشريحة الواسعة من النخب والناس الذين تثير فيهم هذه الأيام لذكرى استشهاد سعاده مشاعر خاصة، وتستعيد لديهم حضور فكره ومشروعه القومي، وتذكّرهم بحجم ارتباط عقيدته بحزب يجسّدها ونظام يضبط إيقاع الجماعة المؤمنة بها، جاعلاً من هاتين عزاءه الوحيد في ساعة الوداع، ومصدر تفوّقه على جلاديه بقياس التاريخ.

الذين لا تشوب نظرتهم لحزب سعاده شخصنة مريضة أو عقدة شخصيّة، ينتقدونه بعقلانيّة من موقع تمني أن يكون أوسع انتشاراً وأقوى حضوراً وأعلى صوتاً وأكثر تأثيراً، وهم إذ يأسفون على تحكم العصبيات بمجتمعاتهم، وتخييم التخلف عليها، يدركون أن فكر سعاده لا يزال وحده الجواب الشافي بكليّة مفاهيمه وتكاملها، بصفته تنويراً وحداثة في التفكير يرتكز إلى حفر دؤوب ومثابر لبناء الشخصيّة القوميّة للفرد والمجتمع من ضمن انخراطهما في حركة الصراع بوجوهها المتعدّدة، وليس نزوة عنفية عابرة ضد وجه من وجوه أمراض التخلف، ولأنهم يدركون ذلك ويقيمون حسابات أكلاف الانضواء وجدية مسيرتها، يعلقون الأماني ويوجهون النقد، ماذا لو كان الحزب الذي يحمل لواء عقيدة سعاده وفكره، في مكانة الفعل الأهم على ساحات بلاد المشرق، بما يتيح جعل الخلاص أقرب وأسهل، لذلك فإن هؤلاء يمكن فهمهم وتقبّل نقدهم، وهم رغم صوتهم المليء بمزيج النقد والتمني يتفهمون، وجود حقائق مرّة يفسر بعضَها تعثر هنا وضعف هناك، لكن مع ثبات وإصرار على مواصلة الحفر المثابر في جبل التخلف الجامد بإبرة العقيدة الحية.

يشهد الذين يقدرون المؤسسة النظاميّة التي يربط بها سعاده أحلامه وأفكاره، والذين ينتقدونها، بحضورها الدائم في ساحات المواجهة، التي رسمها فكر سعاده، وقرابة نصف قرن مضى تشهد للقوميين بموقع ريادي في ساحتي مقاومة الاحتلال ومشاريع التفتيت، وفوقها شهادة بمناقبية القوميين وترفّعهم وإقدامهم، لكن يبقى من أهم ما أنجزه سعاده عبر حزبه، هو أنه في زمن كان مطلوباً من المقاومة أن تحقق انتصاراً لتقول إن هزيمة المحتل وهزيمة التطرف والإرهاب، ممكنة، فتؤسس لنهوض سيتّسع في مواجهة كيان المحتل وأدواته من تطرف وإرهاب، شارك القوميّون من موقع طليعيّ في تقديم هذه المساهمة المعرفية بالدم، إلا أن إنجازهم الذي يتفرّدون به ويحق لهم أن يفاخروا بصدقه، هو أنهم قدموا للمجتمع فرصة التعرف على واقعية وإمكانية وجود كيان اجتماعيّ سياسيّ خالٍ من الطائفية والعصبية، هو مجتمع القوميين أنفسهم، الذي يجيب عن سؤال هل من الممكن تخيّل أفراد غير طائفيين وعلاقات اجتماعية وسياسية لا تمر بالمعبر الطائفي، بنعم قوية، شاهدها هم القوميون أنفسهم، على قاعدة أن دليل الإمكان هو الوقوع، وقد وقع فعلاً أن وجد مجتمع وأفراد، غير طائفيين ولا تمر علاقاتهم الاجتماعية والسياسية عبر معابر الطوائف.

اليوم، وفي ما تتداعى حدود سايكس بيكو، ويعود المحتلّ الأميركي لمحاولة رسمها بقوة الحصار الذي يسمّيه زوراً بالعقوبات، لمنحه صفة أخلاقية، لارتباط العقوبة بجرم، وهو يدرك أن تداعي حدود سايكس بيكو قد أدى وظيفته لحسابه بفتحها لنمو مشروع كيانات الإرهاب العابرة للحدود، وباتت الخشية من تحوّل التداعي إلى فرصة لإسقاط الحدود بين كيانات المشرق، لنشوء تكامل بينها يخشاه لأنه من موارد قوة الاجتماع السياسيّ الطبيعيّ الذي تمّ فصله بالقوة، ولخوفه من أن تنمو معه روح قومية تعيد الأولوية للصراع مع كيان الاحتلال وتختل به الموازين لصالح خيار المقاومة، وفيما يبدو للقوميين بوضوح أن نهوض التكامل المشرقي هو الرد على التحدي الاقتصادي فوق كونه بعداً بنيوياً في عقيدتهم، فهم مطالبون بأكثر من السعي والدعوة لأشكال مختلفة من هذا التكامل، مطالبون بتكرار الفعل الذي أدوه على مسرح التاريخ، كمثال لكيان عابر للطوائف ومترفع على العصبيات، بأن يؤدوا على مسرح الجغرافيا دوراً مماثلاً، باستيلاد كيانات اقتصادية اجتماعية ثقافية عابرة لحدود سايكس

The Trump regime continues to lead the attempt to impose a NATO Sykes-Picot on the Syrian Arab Republic. As part of its efforts to carve up the Levantine country, Trump has accelerated Obama‘s unindicted war crimes. Trump illegals — American troops — continue to illegally bring in weapons — a criminal enterprise began in August 2019 — and logistical equipment for criminal bases and stealing Syrian oil. Trump regime forces fire-bombed wheat fields in May; Trump signed the updated unconstitutional, 3,488 page NDAA bill which included the criminal, fake Caesar legislation the vermin on Capitol Warmonger Hill had been unable to get passed, since 2016.

On the 4th of July — while many Americans were deprived of celebrating their Declaration of Independence from British tyranny because of COVID-19 restrictions, and while small businesses are being crushed by them — US tax dollars were busy at work kidnapping Syrians from their homes in Tal Hamis.

Hasaka, SANA – Qasad (SDF) groups, which are backed by US occupation forces, kidnapped a number of locals in Tal Hamis district in Hasaka countryside, amid a state of wide-scale rejection by locals of these groups and their oppressive practices.

Civil sources told SANA reporter that members of Qasad stormed people’s houses in Tal Hamis township on the background of protests against Qasad that had taken place there recently, and kidnaped a number of locals.

During the past few days, Tal Hamis district witnessed protests against Qasad practices, calling for the groups to leave the area.

Syria News reminds our readers that the criminal SDF was launched as a foreign mercenary militia under the Obama regime, after US General Raymond Thomas convinced the cannon fodder armed separatist YPG to change its name for new marketing, as the YPG just happened to be on the US terror list.

During these times of domestic unrest in the US of A, we especially remind our American readers of the horrors their tax dollars have funded against Syrians, specifically by the SDF:

• September 2018 massacre of 13 Syrian law enforcement persons in Qamishli City.
• Attempt to bomb the Virgin Mary Church in Qamishli, July 2019.
• Trump regime SDF torching wheat fields in Syria.
• Obama cum Trump SDF terrorists occupying of Syrian government services in Hasaka, locking out workers, since late June.

Let US also remember that while the fascist coalition created by Obama and continued by Trump obliterated al Raqqa, Syria, from the sky, the peon SDF demolished the remnants from the ground.

يبدو الوطن العربي، في هذه اللحظة، وكأنه “ارض مشاع” لكل قادر منها نصيب: دوله متهالكة، او تائهة عن مصيرها، او فاقدة هويتها، ومصيرها ووجودها متروك للريح.
حتى جامعة الدول العربية، التي هي مجرد “مبكى”، لا تجتمع الا في مناسبات الحزن او الاغتصاب، كما تفعل الحبشة مع السودان ومصر ببناء “سد النهضة” على حساب جيرانها الاقربين واصدقائها التاريخيين، قبل أن يغزوها الاميركيون ومعهم العدو الاسرائيلي لمنحها فائضا من القوة على حساب مصر والسودان.
وسوريا غائبة او مغيبة عن جامعة الدول العربية بناء لقرار اتخذته امارة قطر العظمى ومساندة عدد من المفيدين منها، ولو على حساب قضايا العرب المقدسة، وفي الطليعة منها فلسطين..

أما العراق المنهك بترسبات حكم صدام حسين، فعلى ارضه، بعد، قوات اميركية وفرنسية، وايرانية، مع غزو تركي لبعض شماله بذريعة مقاتلة الاكراد.. علماً أن تركيا اردوغان قد شفطت من نهري دجلة والفرات ما استطاعت من المياه لتفرض العطش مع الجوع على ارض الرافدين.

..وها هو لبنان يعاني من آثار الحصار الشديد المضروب على سوريا، مع استمرار الغارات الاسرائيلية على مواقع محددة فيها بذريعة ضرب “القوات الايرانية، مع استهداف لوجود “حزب الله” كرديف، ومع تحاشي اصابة القوات الروسية المنتشرة فيها، وكذلك مواقع القوات التركية الغازية التي تحتل بعض الارض السورية في الشرق والشمال ( منبج ثم القامشلي ومحاولة التقدم نحو دير الزور) .

لن نتحدث عن السعودية وامارات الخليج فهي “رهينة المحبسين” الولايات المتحدة الاميركية والاسر الحاكمة.. وبرغم ذلك فإنها لا تتردد في غزو اليمن واعادة تقسمه إلى شمال وجنوب (صنعاء وعدن) مع خلاف حول شبه جزيرة سوقطره الخ..

في الجهة المقابلة تبرز ليبيا، التي جعلها معمر القذافي “جماهيرية” والتي يتزاحم على احتلالها، الآن، السلطان اردوغان بجيش المرتزقة معظمهم من اللاجئين السوريين إلى خليفة العثمانيين، فضلاً عن تطلع ايطاليا لاستعادة ما تعتبره من “املاكها” السابقة، كذلك فرنسا التي كانت تحتل الجنوب (سبها وما احاط بها) فضلاً عن البريطانيين الذين جاءوا إلى طبرق بذريعة أن الجنرال مونتغمري كان يجتاجها لطرد الجنرال رومل وجيش النازي بعيدا عن مصر الواقعة آنذاك تحت الاحتلال البريطاني.

TEHRAN – Amal Wahdan, a Palestinian activist who has been campaigning for the liberation of Palestine, tells the Tehran Times that the plan by Israel to annex the West Bank is a “new apartheid” that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “would not dare” to implement without the “approval of Donald Trump and his circle”.

Wahdan, who was founder and editor of the Arab Gazette, says the annexation plan is in line with Britain’s colonial design in West Asia.

“The West Bank annexation plan fits in perfectly within the larger strategy of “Greater Israel’ to ensure the regional superiority of the Zionist entity through Balkanization of the Arab countries into smaller and weaker entities,” Wahdan notes.

She calls Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Trump two “troubled leaders” who need each other’s help in these “difficult times”.

“Both troubled and defeated leaders, Netanyahu and Trump need each other’s help in their difficult times in order to remain in office. The former is facing corruption charges that might end his political career if he is indicted and the latter is under constant attack from his adversaries and facing impeachment,” explains Wahdan, a permanent member of the Palestinian Coalition for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

Following is the full text of the interview.

Question:  Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is facing a number of criminal indictments, has repeatedly said that he would commence cabinet-level discussions for annexing more areas in the occupied West Bank on July 1 in accordance with U.S. President Donald Trump’s so-called “deal of the century” plan. What is your take on it?

Answer: The Zionist colonial settler entity in occupied Palestine intends to further its ethnic cleansing plans against the Palestinian people by moving on with Netanyahu’s West Bank annexation scheme, a promise he made to his ultra-right election constituency and allies.

The proposed plan seeks to annex 30% of the West bank, including the Jordan Valley stretching 85km to the North along Jordan River and larger illegal settlements in the de facto occupied Palestine. This move poses an imminent threat to the livelihood of 60,000 Palestinians who live in the Jordan Valley and depend mostly on agriculture (compared to 6000 Jewish settlers( and to hundreds of thousands who live in rural areas surrounding the larger settlements.

“For over 72 years, Zionists practiced apartheid policies against Palestinian people which is much worse than those practiced in South Africa and like those of Nazi Germany.”Netanyahu would not dare to go ahead with his plan of annexation without the approval of the U.S. President, Donald Trump, and his circle. Actually, both troubled and defeated leaders, Netanyahu and Trump need each other’s help in their difficult times in order to remain in office. The former is facing corruption charges that might end his political career if he is indicted and the latter is under constant attack from his adversaries.

In return, Trump will guarantee the support of AIPAC and the American Jewish votes. In addition, we have to bear in mind that Trump’s “deal of the century” granted the Zionist colonial entity what they have been dreaming for over the past decades; recognizing “Israel” as a Jewish state and Jerusalem as its eternal capital, supporting the illegal settlements in the West Bank in opposition to UN Security Council Resolution 2334, annexation of the Golan Heights, and the occupied West Bank. With this gift, Trump granted the Zionist entity what he doesn’t own to those who don’t deserve it. Just like what Belfour did with his declaration over a century ago; he granted a Jewish Homeland in Palestine, a land that he didn’t own, to the Zionist movement.

Q: Could we consider this plan in line with the Zionist colonial project of “Greater Israel”?

A: The ideology of the Zionist Movement and Project has developed over the decades as an organic part of the European colonial powers. It came into formal existence at the end of the 19th century with one main theme: the creation of a Jewish Homeland. In the process to materialize this dream, several options were put in place before they spotted Historic Palestine as the most suitable choice, mainly for geopolitical reasons but covered by the religious myth for political tactics. 

Most Zionist leaders from Herzel, the founder of the Zionist Movement, to Jabotinsky, Ben Gurion, Moshe Dayan, Ariel Sharon up-to-date Netanyahu have used the religious mythology in their political platforms, speeches, and with world leaders even though none of them was actually religious.

It was Herzl who carved the area of the future Jewish state by saying: “From the Brooks of Egypt to the Euphrates.” Ben-Gurion had wanted Israel’s northern border to extend to the River Litani. While the World Zionist Organization declared a century ago that the Jewish state shall extend to cover all of historic Palestine, Litani Rive, Golan Heights, Hauran Plain, Deraa, to control the Railroad from Deraa to Amman in addition to the Gulf of Aqaba.

Thus, within the framework of the Zionist project, Palestine, which has been inhabited for thousands of years becomes the ‘promised land’ to God’s ‘chosen people’, and empty land for another people (from all over the world) who have no land! The replacement of the people of Palestine with colonial invading settlers became the implementation of a divine promise.     

Q: Do you think the U.S. “New Middle East” doctrine was to create chaos and divide the Arab homeland into sectarian entity?

A: The West Bank annexation plan fits perfectly within the larger strategy of “Greater Israel’ to ensure the regional superiority of the Zionist entity through Balkanization of the Arab countries into smaller and weaker entities. This was in fact an extension of Britain’s colonial design in West Asia when the victors of WWI, Britain- France signed the Sykes-Picot agreement. This was the first phase of the geographical division of the Arab Homeland and the creation of the satellite entities of the British colonial empire; Saudi Arabia, Persian Gulf states, carving Jordan, Lebanon, and historic Palestine from the Levant.

The Oded Yinon plan went further beyond the geographic division to the sectarian divide of the Arab Homeland between Muslims and Christians, Sunnis and Shiites. This vision had kicked off in 1982 with the Israeli occupation and invasion of Lebanon and the creation of the Antone Lahed Army south of the Litani River. This war led to the expulsion of the PLO leadership and the scattering of the Palestinian fighters as far as Yemen, Tunisia, and Algeria. The second major blow was the U.S. incitement of Saddam Hussein of Iraq to wage an eight-year war against the Islamic Republic of Iran and its new revolution, which had immense ramifications on both countries. The third was the eruption of what the U.S. and its allies called the “Arab Spring.” This was manifested in a wave of mass demonstrations that swamped the Arab region from Tunisia in December of 2010 to Egypt, Libya and to the torn country of Iraq since the invasion of 2003, to the division of Sudan in 2013, the instigated terror war in Somalia, and the “Arab Coalition” war on Yemen in 2015, led by Saudi Arabia with the support of the U.S. and the Zionist entity. 

Despite of the pan-Arab Nakba (catastrophe), millions of casualties among civilians, exodus, destruction of infrastructures, economic sanctions, and devastation, and loss of billions of dollars of national wealth, the Yinon plan of Balkanization of the Arab Homeland failed miserably to achieve its goals as well as the U.S. “New Middle East” doctrine. On the contrary, it drove regional and Arab resistance movements and countries closer in confrontation with U.S. hegemony and Zionists’ expansionist project from Yemen in the South, to Syria, Lebanon, occupied Palestine, Iraq, and Iran as a regional power.

The Balkanization of West Asia is an integral part of U.S. foreign policy. A policy which the U.S. administration under Bill Clinton successfully implemented in the former Soviet Union and the Eastern bloc and managed to dismantle the Eastern bloc but into failed fragmented entities.

Q: The U.S.-Zionist strategy to annex the West Bank would have serious ramifications on the Palestinian Authority, Jordan and Egypt. What are the options left for the Palestinian people and leadership?

A: The U.S.-backed West Bank annexation plan has put an end to the Oslo agreement that was signed between the PLO leadership and the Zionist colonial settler entity in September of 1993 and the two-state solution. This agreement was in “Israel’s” favor from A to Z. Although, it entailed mutual recognition and the creation of the Palestinian state at the 1967 war borders which included the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem as its capital, several important issues like the right of return, borders, settlements, water, sea and airports will be decided at the end of the five year period. None of these articles were implemented. Furthermore, after 25 years of Oslo, the Palestinians are still living in a huge open prison as the Gaza Strip is under siege for 13 years, hundreds of thousands of dunums of Palestinian land are confiscated, dozens of Zionists colonies are erected, over 800 km of the illegal wall surrounding and cutting in between the Palestinian cities, towns and rural areas, water springs, power grids, land, sea, and airports all are under the control of the Zionist colonial entity.

The PLO executive committee and President Mahmoud Abbas have declared their decision to abandon the Oslo agreements, to suspend their diplomatic and security relations with the Americans and the Zionist leaders in rejection to the West Bank annexation plan. But this is not enough to confront the new wave of ethnic cleansing.

The Palestinian leadership needs to free its mind from any illusions that Americans and Zionists want peace and recognize reality that we are in the process of national liberation not state-building. For over 72 years, Zionists practiced apartheid policies against Palestinian people which is much worse than those practiced in South Africa and like those of Nazi Germany. Even the UN human rights experts announced their condemnation of the Zionists’ annexation plan of parts of the occupied West Bank, as a “vision of a 21st century apartheid”.

The new geopolitical order provides a positive environment to a genuine solution in front of the PLO and the Palestinian people; to restore the National Charter of 1968 and resolutions of the National Councils up to 1974 on the vision of comprehensive unity of an undivided, historic Palestine in terms of both land and people, to maintain a tight link between the objectives of the Palestinian National Movement and the Arab, regional and international resistance movements, to emphasize the leading role of the organization in liberating Palestine from settler colonization along with all national forces as a framework for their alliance during the liberation stage.

آن الأوان للتوجّه شرقاً والتحرّر من التبعيّة الاقتصاديّة العمياء للغرب ‏

يغزو الغرب بلدان المشرق العربي منذ منتصف القرن التاسع عشر. يفعل ذلك بالسياسة والتجارة والثقافة والعسكر. آل إليه ميراث بني عثمان في أعقاب الحرب العالمية الأولى 1914-1918 فتقاسمته أقوى دُوَله آنذاك، فرنسا وبريطانيا، على نحوٍ باتت معه بلاد الشام أربعة كيانات: لبنان وسورية والأردن وفلسطين.

بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية 1939-1945 آلت قيادة الغرب إلى الولايات المتحدة الأميركية فشاركت دُوَله الاستعمارية التليدة المصالحَ والموارد والنفوذ وزرعت في قلب المشرق، فلسطين، كياناً لليهود الصهاينة آخذاً بالتوسع والتمدّد حتى كاد يسيطر على كامل فلسطين التاريخية ناهيك عن أراضٍ وحواضر في سورية ولبنان ووادي الأردن وسيناء.

سورية تحرّرت، منذ أواسط خمسينيات القرن الماضي، من سيطرة الغرب سياسياً واقتصادياً وعسكرياً واستحصلت من روسيا (السوفياتية آنذاك) قرضاً وازناً لبناء سدّ الفرات.

لبنان ظلّ خاضعاً للغرب على جميع المستويات. مردُّ ذلك تجذّرُ ثقافة الغرب لدى نخباته السياسية وأوساطه المستنيرة بفضل شيوع مدارس وجامعات أجنبية كثيرة تعهّدت على مدى قرنين أجيالاً متعاقبة من الطلاب، وبفعل علاقات راسخة من التبادل التجاري بين لبنان ودول أوروبا محورها تجارةُ الحرير (نفط ذلك الزمان) ونجاح اللبنانيين المتمرّسين باللغات الفرنسية والإنكليزية والالمانية والإيطالية في تقديم خدمات الوساطة بين مؤسسات الغرب الأوروبي والكيانات السياسية والإقتصادية في شتى بلدان المشرق العربي.

غير أنّ الظاهرة اللافتة في تاريخ لبنان المعاصر اقترانُ نظامه السياسي الذي ابتناه الفرنسيون منذ مطالع عشرينيات القرن الماضي بنظام الاقتصاد الحر المتفلّت من ايّ رقابة او ضوابط حكومية او أهلية رادعة. والمفارقة أنّ محاولات الإصلاح تركّزت في غالب الأحيان على النظام السياسي ولم تقارب النظام الاقتصادي الذي تمتع دائماً بشبه قدسيّة حمته من ضراوة معارضيه.

نظام اقتصادي هذه مواصفاته وممارساته المتفلّتة من اي رقابة او محاسبة كان لا بدّ من أن يتصدّع تحت وطأة الديون والخسائر والمخالفات والفضائح التي تكشّفت أخيراً. اليوم يجد اللبنانيون، مسؤولين ومواطنين، أنفسهم أمام مشهد انهيار اقتصادي ومالي مريع.

ازدادت الأزمة الراهنة تفاقماً بعجز المنظومة الحاكمة عن التوافق على أسسٍ ونهجٍ لمقاربة المؤسسات الدولية، لا سيما صندوق النقد الدولي، بغية الحصول على قروض وتسهيلات مالية تساعد الحكومة على معالجة الازمة في مختلف وجوهها وانعكاساتها. وكان الأمر على فداحته ليهون لولا انّ إدارة ترامب بادرت، في توقيت مريب، الى مباشرة تطبيق أحكام «قانون قيصر» الرامي الى محاصرة سورية وفرض عقوبات قاسية عليها وعلى المتعاملين والمتعاونين معها في شتّى الميادين.

لعلّ لبنان أشدّ المتضرّرين من تنفيذ هذا القانون الجائر لكون سورية تحيط به من جميع الجهات تقريباً، ولأنّ البلدين يتبادلان، بوتيرة يومية، مختلف أنواع السلع والخدمات والمقايضات، ليس أقلها أنّ سورية تزوّد لبنان بنحو 200 ميغاوات من التيار الكهربائي التي لولاها لعمّت العتمة الكثير من مناطقه.

إزاء تفاقم الأزمة وعجز الحكومة، ومن ورائها المنظومة الحاكمة، عن إيجاد حلول ناجعة لبعض جوانبها الأكثر تأثيراً في معيشة المواطنين، دعا رئيس الجمهورية العماد ميشال عون الى لقاءٍ في قصر الرئاسة يوم الخميس المقبل للتشاور مع وبين رؤساء الجمهورية السابقين، ورؤساء الحكومة السابقين، ورؤساء الكتل النيابية في الوضع الراهن وفي ما يقتضي اتخاذه من تدابير لوقف التدهور الاقتصادي والمالي وتطويق الاحتقان الطائفي والاجتماعي.

ليس أكيداً انّ جميع المدعوّين سيلبّون دعوة رئيس الجمهورية. حتى لو فعلوا وشاركوا في اللقاء، فإنّ ما قد يتوصّلون اليه من مقترحات وتوصيات لن يقدّم ولن يؤخّر، إذ لا يمكن، بل لا يجوز، التعويل عليه لسبب بسيط هو انّ المسؤولين، مباشرةً او مداورةً، عن انحدار الدولة الى ما هي عليه من فساد ونهب للمال العام وفضائح وإهدار وتفكك وفوضى لا يُعقل أن يُطلب الى المرتكبين إصلاح أخطائهم وخطاياهم وأن يكون في مقدورهم أصلاً القيام بالمطلوب.

ذلك كله يجب ان يحفّز القوى الوطنية الحيّة، بكل ألوانها وأشكالها، على التلاقي لعقد مؤتمر وطني، بالسرعة الممكنة، يضمّ ممثلي الهيئات والنقابات والفاعليات الشعبية المتضرّرة من أفاعيل المنظومة الحاكمة وأفرعها داخل السلطة وخارجها من أجل الاتفاق على برنامج عمل لتحرير البلاد والعباد من التبعية العمياء، السياسية والاقتصادية، للغرب كما للاتفاق على النهج الواجب اعتماده للخروج من الأزمة المالية والاقتصادية الراهنة وذلك باتخاذ المبادرات الآتية:

أولاً، تفعيل الانتفاضة الشعبية وتركيزها على المتطلبات المعيشية الحياتية، وضرورة إنشاء محكمة خاصة متفرّغة لمحاكمة الفاسدين وناهبي الأموال العامة، ووقف الهدر والإنفاق غير المجدي بإلغاء المصالح والصناديق الحكومية التي انتهت مهامها وباتت مأوى وملاذاً لتعيين المحاسيب والأزلام.

ثانياً، التوجّه شرقاً الى الصين التي تعرض تمويل وتنفيذ رزمة مشاريع إنمائية تتعلق بتطوير مرفأي بيروت وطرابلس وربطهما بخط سكة حديد يصل الى بغداد، وإنشاء خطوط سكك حديد سريعة من العريضة شمال طرابلس الى الناقورة جنوب صور، وتنفيذ وتشغيل معامل كهرباء وشبكات نقل لتوفير الكهرباء بصورة مستدامة، وإنشاء وتشغيل نفق ضهر البيدر إلخ… كما من الضروري أيضاً الانفتاح على سائر الدول والمؤسسات الأممية التي يمكنها تمويل وتنفيذ مشاريع إنمائية مماثلة.

ثالثاً، الضغط على الحكومة لإنشاء هيئة وطنية من شخصيات واختصاصيين من ذوي الخبرة والرؤية مهمتها تقديم خطة وبرنامج لإلغاء الطائفية السياسية، ومشروع قانون للانتخابات يكفل صحة التمثيل الشعبي وعدالته وإحالته على مجلس النواب لإقراره، وإذا امتنع يُصار إلى عرضه على استفتاء شعبي لإجازته الأمر الذي يشكل خطوة ثورية دستورية تنقل لبنان من الجمهورية الأولى المترهّلة الى جمهورية ثانية شابة مدنية وديمقراطية.

ما بين الهزيمة والانهزاميّة

الحروب في العالم ليست من إفرازات العصر الحالي بل كانت نتيجة طبيعية لقيام التجمّعات البشريّة منذ آلاف السنين. هذه التجمعات التي رأت في حيويتها الزائدة دافعاً للتوسع على حساب التجمعات المجاورة بداية، إذ لم يكن وعي الجماعة لوحدتها الاجتماعية قد ترسّخ بعد. وكان من الطبيعي أن ينتج عن الحروب نتيجة من اثنتين: النصر أو الهزيمة. ويكاد مجتمعنا السوري، بماله من خصائص جغرافية مميّزة، أن يكون من أكثر المجتمعات التي شهدت صراعات داخلية دافعها السيطرة وفرض أنظمة محددة من القوي على الضعيف من جهة، وخارجية هدفها أيضاً السيطرة لاستغلال الموارد الطبيعية والاستفادة من الموقع الجغرافيّ لتحصين المكانة الإقليمية أو العالمية. وما زال مجتمعنا حتى الساعة عرضة لموجات متتالية من الصراع على النفوذ أو من الاحتلال المباشر لأجزاء منه تنفيذاً لمخططات سياسيّة تعتمد على رؤى أيديولوجية بعيدة كلّ البعد عن المنطق والعدل الإنساني.

فالأوضاع الجيوسياسيّة التي فرضها علينا الاحتلال المزدوج الانكليزي – الفرنسي والتي أدّت إلى زرع الكيان الإسرائيلي في جنوبنا السوري، لم تزل تداعياتها تتفاعل لتؤدّي إلى نتائج سلبية تطاول مجتمعنا وإيجابية تطاول كيان العدو المغتصب. فالهزائم التي ألحقها هذا العدو البربري، المدعوم من القوى الظلامية العالمية، بعدد من الدول المسمّاة عربية جرّاء حروب ثلاث أدّت إلى تفكك المنظومة العربية التي حاول الاستعمار الترويج لها، لمعرفته المسبقة بعدم قابليتها للتنفيذ. فإذا بالجامعة العربية أسوأ بكثير من الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحّدة، إذ لا هذه ولا تلك تمكّنت من فرض تنفيذ قراراتها المتخذة في جلسات عامة وبمعظمها إمّا بإجماع الأعضاء أو بأغلبيتهم. وتفنّنت هذه الدول العربية بالتخفيف من وقع هزائمها فسمّتها أحياناً نكبة وأحياناً نكسة أملاً بأن يعقب النكسة نصر يمحو العار الذي لحق بهذه الدول نتيجة هزيمتها المخجلة والمعيبة والمذلة لمن أراد أن يصف النتيجة بما يتطابق مع الوقائع. وأكثر هذه الهزائم إيلاماً هي حرب الخامس من حزيران عام 1967 والتي استطاع العدو خلال أسبوع واحد أن يقضي على جيوش ثلاث دول عربية مجتمعة وكانت على علم مسبق بمخططات العدو. ولم تستطع هذه الدول نفسها الاستفادة من الأخطاء والثغرات فإذا بهزيمتها تتكرّر عام 1973 رغم أنها كانت هي المبادرة هذه المرة لشنّ الحرب. وربما نستطيع القول بأنّ مصر وحدها نظرياً استفادت من هذه الحرب التي سارع الخائن السادات إلى إنهائها نتيجة وعد بإعادة سيناء إلى أحضان مصر، وبدلاً من استغلال هذه النتيجة لصالح مصر وبقية دول الطوق التي سبّب لها إسراع السادات بوقف الحرب بخسارة المزيد من أراضيها وتدمير جيشها وإيقاع العديد من الضحايا والأسرى من أفراد جيشها، بادر السادات إلى استكمال خيانته وانهزاميته يوم أعلن استعداده لزيارة دولة الاحتلال وعقد الصلح معها، فدفع دمه نتيجة هذه الخيانة.

ولم يستطع العقل «العربي» أن يجاري العقل اليهودي بالتخطيط أو على الأقلّ بالتصدّي لمخططات العدو الذي انتقل، من القيام بالحرب المباشرة لقضم المزيد من الأرض، إلى الحرب غير المباشرة أيّ استغلال الآخرين لشن الحروب عنه (حرب الأميركيين على العراق، استغلال ما سُمّي بالربيع العربي وإدخال الإرهابيين الدواعش إلى كلّ من العراق وبلاد الشام، كأمثلة على ذلك)، وقطف نتائج هذه الحروب المدمّرة. وها هي جذور هذا التخطيط الجديد تعطي ثماراً إيجابية أفضل بكثير من ثمار الحروب المباشرة. فبدلاً من استعداء الدول العربية مجتمعة من الخليج إلى المحيط وعلى مدى عشرات السنين، استطاع خلال سنوات معدودات أن يجعل من الأعداء أصدقاء يعاونونه على من كان لهم بالأمس القريب، ليس فقط صديقاً، بل أخاً ينادي بما ينادون به من أخوة عربية ولاءات خشبية عن عدم الاعتراف بدولة العدو، أو عقد معاهدات سلام معها، أو حتى التفاوض بشأن السلام والاعتراف.

وانطلاقاً من مخططات العقل الجهنمي الخبيث المستحكم بنفسية عدونا استطاع أن يحوّل هزيمة الأنظمة العربية إلى انهزامية لم يسبق لها مثيل في تاريخ التجمعات البشرية قديماً وحديثاً.

فبدلاً من أن تدفع الهزيمة بالمهزوم إلى تحليل سبب هزيمته لكي يحاول العمل على تفادي هذه الأسباب مما يساعد على قلب الهزيمة إلى نصر، وجدنا أن المهزوم استطاب طعم الهزيمة والذلّ الذي لحقه من جرائها وإذا به يرضخ طوعاً لكلّ شروط المنتصر عليه، بل نجده يزحف راجياً المنتصر أن يمعن بإذلاله، دائساً على ما تبقى من كرامته وشرطه الوحيد إبقاء الزمرة الحاكمة في السلطة. والمؤسف أنّ هذه الزمر الحاكمة استطاعت أن تدجّن الناس وتقنعها بانّها إنّما تفعل ذلك لمصلحتها.

لقد وصلنا إلى زمن من الانهزاميّة المذلة لمن يفقه معنى الانهزام والاستسلام، في حين أنّ الخيانة أصبحت وجهة نظر، فكثرت هذه الوجهات وتعدّدت لتوافق ظروف وأوضاع كلّ كيان من كيانات الأمم العربية التي نجحت مرة واحدة بتجربة الوحدة (مصر والجمهورية العربية السورية)، بحيث كان مكتوباً على هذه التجربة الفشل لأنّها لم تنطلق من المفاهيم الاجتماعية المستندة إلى الحقائق التاريخية والجغرافية. وقلة من رجال الفكر والسياسة أعادوا النظر بمواقفهم على امتداد العالم العربي، هذه المواقف الارتجالية والتي كانت لها ارتدادات سلبية على قضايا أمم العالم العربي المصيرية. واحد من هؤلاء هو عبد الهادي البكار، وقلّة تعرفه أو سمعت به خاصة بين الأجيال الجديدة، وهو إعلامي سوري عاصر أيام الوحدة، وبعد سقوطها اضطهد وأجبر على المغادرة إلى مصر التي كان قد انجرف مع تيارها الناصري الطامح إلى قيادة «الأمة العربية». فكان لهذا الإعلامي الجرأة الكافية، بعدما خذلته مصر الناصرية أيضاً، للاعتراف بانجرافه العروبيّ الذي لم يستند إلاّ إلى وهم، «وأنّ الحلم الوحيد الباقي هو في (سورية الكبرى) التي ساهم في تشويهها حين كان التفكير أو الحديث في ذلك يُعرّض صاحبه إلى التشويه والتخوين». ويذكر الأستاذ سامر موسى على صفحته بأّنّ البكار قد فاجأ قراءه من خلال ما أورده في كتابه (صفحات مجهولة من تاريخ سورية الحديث)، والذي صدر عام 2008 عن (دار الذاكرة) في بيروت إذ قال بأنّه: «تأكّد له خلال العقود الأخيرة اعتلال الفكرة القومية العربية وربما اضمحلالها في العالم العربي، كما تأكّد خلالها احتياج بلاد الشام إلى استنهاض قوتها الذاتية الإقليمية، وأنّ دعوة أنطون سعاده إلى توحيد الأشلاء والأجزاء السورية لم تكن هي الخطأ أو الانحراف بل كانت هي الصواب». وبالرغم من عدم وضوح الرؤية القومية الصحيحة لدى البكّار إلّا أنّ اعترافه هذا يُعتبر خطوة أولى بالاتجاه الصحيح علّها تساعد أجيال المثقفين من التماهي معه لنفض غبار الدسائس التي شوّهت لبّ عقيدة النهضة القومية الاجتماعيّة التي بات كثيرون، ممن حملوا لواء محاربتها في الماضي، يؤمنون ليس فقط بصحتها بل بانّها الوحيدة القادرة على بناء الإنسان الجديد القادر على التصدّي لكلّ مثالب المجتمع، وعلى المساهمة في بنيان المجتمع الجديد القادر على الخروج من مفاهيم الانهزامية إلى مفاهيم الوعي المجتمعي القادر على إعادة زرع مفاهيم الكرامة والعزة والعنفوان التي تعيد للمواطن الثقة بنفسه وبأمته، وبأنّ الهزائم ليست قدراً، وبأنّ النصر ليس بالصعوبة التي يصوّرونها له إمعاناً بإذلاله وزرع اليأس في نفسه.

فما بين النفسية الانهزاميّة التي تبديها معظم كيانات الأمم العربية تبقى بارقة الأمل في كيانات الأمة السورية، صاحبة القرار الوحيدة عندما يتعلق الأمر بالمسألة الفلسطينية. وها هي هذه الكيانات تسطّر أرقى سطور المجد مسقطة أسطورة دولة الاحتلال التي لا تقهر. فمن العراق الذي أسقط انتصار داعش، إلى الشام التي باتت قريبة من دحر المؤامرة الكونية عليها، إلى فلسطين أطفال الحجارة الذين يواجهون بصدورهم العامرة بالإيمان الذي يؤكّد أنّ القوة وحدها تعيد الحقّ السليب، إلى لبنان الذي أعطت مقاومته دروساً تاريخية بالبطولة المؤمنة بصحة العقيدة والتي استطاعت أن تنهي عصر الهزائم وتعلن بدء عصر الانتصارات، سلسلة من المواقف التي تعيد للأمل تألّقه، وتبعث في النفوس الضعيفة القوة من جديد. هذه القوة هي اللغة الوحيدة التي يفهمها العدو، وهي نفسها اللغة التي تخلّت عنها معظم الأنظمة الانهزامية. فالهزيمة ليست قدراً بل هي حافز للتمسك بكلّ أسباب القوة التي تؤمّن الانتصار على مفهوم الانهزام أولاً، وعلى العدو المكابر ثانياً. فلنمسك بأسباب قوّتنا، ولنترك للانهزاميّين العيش في صقيع انهزاميّتهم.

في ذكراها «38»… الحرب «المظلومة»

منذ أن عشنا أيام تلك الحرب المجيدة في حياة لبنان والأمّة قبل 38 عاماً، والتي استمرت حوالي 90 يوماً، وأنا أتساءل كلّ عام عن سبب “تهميش” تلك الحرب والنقص في الاهتمام بها شعبياً وثقافياً وإعلامياً وتوثيقياً، حتى بتنا نسمّيها “اجتياحاً” فيما هي في الحقيقة الحرب العربية – الإسرائيلية الأطول في تاريخ الصراع العربي – الصهيوني، والتي خسر فيها جيش الصهاينة المئات من جنوده وكبار ضباطه، فيما قدّم اللبنانيّون والفلسطينيون والجيش العربي السوري والمتطوّعون العرب، آلاف الشهداء من مدنيين ومقاتلين، وكنت أتساءل عن سبب عدم إقامة المهرجانات والندوات والتحقيقات الإعلامية والمؤتمرات البحثية إلاّ نادراً عن حرب غنية بكلّ المعاني.. بل كنت أشعر أنّ وراء محاولات تجاهل هذا الحدث التاريخي في الماضي رغبة بمحاولات لرسم حاضرنا وإعادة ترتيب مستقبلنا بأشكال معينة…

فهل ظُلمت هذه الحرب، لأنها كانت حرباً عربية بالمعنى الكامل للكلمة، شارك فيها وطنيون لبنانيون، ومقاومون فلسطينيون، وعسكريون سوريون ومتطوّعون عرب، فجسّدوا وحدة النضال القومي وعروبة المعركة التي لا يخشى أعداؤنا شيئاً كما يخشونها، بل يسعون بكلّ وسائلهم إلى تفتيت مجتمعنا العربي وتشجيع كلّ قطر أو مكون من مكوناته على الانسلاخ عن الجسد الأكبر الذي هو الأمّة.

بل هل ظُلمت هذه الحرب، لأنها حرب شعبية بكلّ ما في كلمة شعبية من معنى، حيث ارتسمت في أتونها معادلة ما زالت ترتعد منها فرائص الأعداء وهي معادلة مقاومة لبنانية وفلسطينية تواجه جحافل العدو من أقصى الجنوب إلى قلب العاصمة، وجيش سوري يوقف تقدّم العدو على أكثر من محور في الجبل (بحمدون، عين دارة)، والبقاع (السلطان يعقوب، وبيادر العدس) في محاولة مستميتة منه قطع الطريق بين بيروت ودمشق، وهو هدف استراتيجي لهذا العدو ما زال يسعى إليه حتى اليوم، وما قانون “قيصر” هذه الأيام إلاّ أحد عناوين هذا الاستهداف.

وهل ظُلمت هذه الحرب لأنه في رحمها ولدت مقاومة لبنانية وطنية وقومية وإسلامية، نجحت بدعم حلفائها العرب والمسلمين في دحر الاحتلال عن عاصمتها وأرضها وصولاً إلى ردع عدوانه عام 2006، فقبل هذه الحرب كان الدخول إلى أيّ منطقة لبنانية نزهة، وكانت كلّ حرب إسرائيلية في لبنان اجتياحاً (عام 1972، 1978)، ولكن بعدها بات الأمر مختلفاً..

ثم هل ظُلمت هذه الحرب لأنها كانت بداية تحوّل حقيقي في موازين القوى في المنطقة، وربما في العالم، فباتت للحق قوة، بعد أن كانت القوة هي “صاحبة” الحق أينما كانت..

هل ظُلمت هذه الحرب، لأنها كشفت عجز وفشل أصحابها في تحقيق أهدافهم الرئيسية منها، وهي إخراج المقاومة من لبنان، وفرض اتفاقية صلح عليه ليكون البلد الثاني بعد مصر يوقع مثل هذه المعاهدة..

صحيح أنّ تلك الحرب أخرجت قوات المقاومة الفلسطينية من جنوب لبنان وعاصمته، ولكنها في المقابل لم تنجح في إخراج روح المقاومة من لبنان، بل إنها زادتها توهّجاً واشتعالاً وقدرات وحوّلت حركتها إلى رقم صعب في معادلة المنطقة..

وصحيح أنّ ذلك الاحتلال، وبرعاية أميركية نجح في أن يفرض اتفاقية إذعان في 17 أيار 1983، لكنه بعد أقلّ من عام شهد ذلك الاتفاق المشؤوم سقوطه المدوي بعد حرب الجبل (آب 1983)، وانتفاضة (6 شباط 1983).

وقد يقول البعض إنّ من أسباب “الظلم” و “التهميش” الذي لحق بتلك الحرب المجيدة، هو أنّ إنجازاتها كانت صنع شعب رافض للغزو بكل مكوناته، وأمّة رافضة للعدوان بكلّ أقطارها، وبالتالي لا يمكن استخدامها للإيقاع بين لبناني ولبناني، وبين عربي وعربي، بين مسلم ومسلم..

ففي تلك الحرب، كما قاتل متطوّعون من سورية واليمن والعراق ومصر وأقطار المغرب العربي، قاتل أيضاً فلسطينيون من كل الفصائل، ولبنانيون من كلّ المشارب الفكرية والسياسية والاجتماعية، حتى يمكن القول إنّ ما شهدته العقود الأربعة التي تلت تلك الحرب لم تكن إلاّ محاولات لخلق شروخ وتعميق الانقسامات في ما بين أقطار الأمّة، وداخل كلّ قطر..

لقد جاءت معاهدة سايكس – بيكو في أوائل القرن الفائت لتجزئة المنطقة جغرافياً وأفقياً، ثم جاء المشروع الصهيوني – الأميركي، الحرب المظلومة في لبنان أحد تجلياته، من أجل تفتيت بلدان المنطقة ومجتمعاتها اجتماعياً وعمودياً.

وحين ندعو إلى إخراج تلك الحرب إلى الأضواء وتكريم شهدائها من خلال تخليد أسمائهم في شوارع وساحات مدنهم وقراهم كحدّ أدنى، والبحث الجاد في دروسها وعبرها ونتائجها، وتعميق معانيها ودلالاتها، فلأننا نعتقد أن انتصارات الأمم لا تتمّ إلاّ بتراكم إنجازاتها، وتكامل طاقاتها والبناء على ما جرى تحقيقه، وأن أبرز أسباب انتكاسات حركة تحرّرنا القومي في العقود السابقة هي أنّ كلّ جيل كان يريد إلغاء من سبقه من أجيال..

Leading with their bathetically artificial concern for COVID in Syria, the tripartite aggressors added neocolonial demands for compelled reopening of the al Yarubiyah crossing, lamentations over hospitals that do not exist, and ceasefire to their collective howling.

UNSCR 2504 was passed on 10 January, in what may be the largest Pontius Pilate abstention votes in the history of the United Nations: The US, UK, Russia, and China all withheld their votes. At the UN, abstentions are counted as “yes” votes.

Bab al Hawa is the Turkish route that Press TV journalist Serena Shim reported used for transporting weapons and terrorists in convoys covered by the World Food Programme. Shim subsequently was killed in a convenient vehicular accident.

The UN Spec Envoy, Norwegian Geir O. Pedersen, affixed to Syria via some preposition (on? above? around? at?) remained stoic whilst claiming that COVID 19 and its ramifications will become a multiplier of humanitarian needs in Syria. Essentially his speech was the same as the one he gave in March, when the UN held a tutorial on applying the philosophy of Goebbels to re-colonizing Syria. Norway continues its draconian lockdown of its citizenry and of its borders while audaciously declaring its self-appointed right to enter the Syrian Arab Republic.

The 29 April anti-Syria Sykes-Picot Award should go to Estonia’s deputy diplomat, Gert Auväärt. Perhaps he should also receive the Aesop’s Fable The Young Crab & His Mother Award for smarmy hypocrisy. It is not, therefore, a surprise that this deputy diplomat stated his satisfaction with the illicit economic terrorism against Syria.

Those countries that break out from the former eastern block become more radical in their enmity to their former allies in order to submit their papers of acceptance to the new club: NATO, EU, the U.S.F.S.: United States Faithful Servants, and the International Monetary Funds slaves.

صراع القيَم حول العالم

تعرّضت بلادنا منذ عقد من الزمن لحرب ضروس بيننا وبين الإرهاب المعولم والمؤدلج بـ «قيم» الفوضى الخلاقة للشر متخذاً من الدين وقيم الحرية والعدالة والديمقراطية قناعاً يخفي وراءه قباحته وشروره. هدفت الحرب إلى إعادة إنتاج الاتفاق الانجلو – الفرنسي (سايكس – بيكو) باتجاه ما هو أدهى وأمرّ بمزيد من التفتيت والشرذمة، وكان آخر ما حرّرته الجهات المعادية في دفترنا هو صفقة ترامب الأميركية (صفقة القرن). في غمرة تلك الأحداث المزدحمة داهمنا وباء كورونا سالباً منا الطمأنينة والصحة والسلامة وحاصداً آلاف الأرواح ومحاصراً ما يزيد عن مليار شخص في معازل صحية او منزلية، وكثير منهم من الذين لا يجد قوت يومه إلا بيوم عمله.

وإذا كان هذا الوباء يصيب الجهاز التنفسي للإنسان ويدمّره ويؤدّي إلى وفاته، فإنّ هذه الأزمة قد كشفت أنه يصيب بأعراضه النظم السياسية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية أيضاً، ويكشف ماهو منها زائف ومخادع وما هو منها يملك قيماً إنسانية راقية وأخلاقاً نبيلة. فقد تعرّت عورات أنظمة عديدة لطالما تغنّت بالديمقراطية وحقوق الإنسان، بالحريات والعدالة الاجتماعية، لا بل وزادت بأن أبدت اهتمامات بالطيور وهجراتها وقردة الباندا وإمكانيات انقراضها، وإذا بها تتهاوى وتتكشف على حقيقتها أمام هذا الوباء فأبدت لنا وجهها القبيح معلنة بصريح القول والعبارة درجة انحطاطها القيمي والأخلاقي بشكل غير مسبوق.

الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب لا يجد في موت آلاف البشر والذين من المرشح أن تتزايد أعدادهم بأصفار عديدة إلى يمين تلك الآلاف، إلا فرصة لتعزيز وضعه الانتخابي أمام الاستحقاق المقبل في تشرين الأول المقبل، ثم لتحقيق أرباح ومكاسب مادية من تجارة الأمصال والعلاجات المداوية له، لم يتوانَ أن يتخلى عن أصدقائه وحلفائه في الناتو من الأوروبيين، تاركاً لهم مهمة نزع أشواكهم بأيديهم. الأمر الذي دعا صحافية إيطالية شجاعة لأن تقدّم هدية لوزير خارجيته بومبيو وهي عبارة عن علبة طعام كلاب ليأكل منها هو ورئيسه وطاقم إدارته علهم يتعلمون من الكلاب بعض الوفاء، فيما نظيره وصديقه بوريس جونسون، أخذ ومستشاره الطبي بنظريات إسبارطية وبعض الأفكار الداروينية والتي ترى أنّ البقاء للأقوى أو فكرة مناعة القطيع، وبمعنى أوضح ليمت من يموت من كبار السن والضعفاء والمرضى بأمراض مزمنة ويرتاح جونسون من مصاريف رعايتهم الصحية والاجتماعية المرتفعة وليبقى الأصحاء فقط، ولم يعد عن ذلك إلا بعد تصاعد الاحتجاجات الشعبية والبرلمانية إثر التقارير الصادرة عن الامبيرال كولدج ذات المصداقية العالية ومركز الأوبئة التابع لها، الأمر الذي دعا جونسون ليخفف من صفاقة أقواله وليعود عن تجاهله لضرورات التصدي للوباء.

الثالث في حلقة الأصدقاء هو بن يامين نتنياهو، فحسب ما ذكرت القناة الثالثة عشرة العبرية أنّ خلافاً قد حصل بين وزير الصحة (الإسرائيلي) ونائبه وهو بروفيسور في علم الأوبئة وذلك في حضور نتنياهو، حيث قدّر البروفيسور أنّ عدد المصابين بالوباء يتجاوز عددهم خمسين ألفاً فيما التقارير الرسمية والإخبارية تتحدث عن إلفين، فيما قال الوزير إنّ الأرقام الحقيقية للمصابين أكبر من الأرقام المعلنة، ولكنها لا تصل إلى الرقم الذي ادّعاه البروفيسور، مع ذلك فما يشغل بال ووقت نتنياهو هو كيفية التهرّب من المحكمة وقضايا الفساد التي تلاحقه، كيف يستطيع البقاء في مقعد رئاسة الوزراء؟ كيف يستطيع أن يستغلّ الانشغال العالمي بالوباء لتنفيذ مخططاته الرامية لضمّ المستوطنات والأغوار ومناطق أخرى من الضفة الغربية؟

مقابل هذه البشاعة وهذا الانحطاط الذي يمارسه هؤلاء لا بحقّ الإنسانية فحسب، وإنما بحق شعوبهم وأهلهم وذويهم، نرى في الجانب المقابل لهذه الصورة البشعة أنّ الصين وهي أول من أصيب بالوباء، وأول من تصدّى له، ومع أنّ شعبها البالغ تعداده مليار ونصف مليار إنسان وأنّ اقتصادها عانى من التراجع أكثر من أيّ اقتصاد آخر، حيث توقفت كثير من صناعاتها عن الإنتاج وتجارتها وسلعها من التداول، مع ذلك كله نراها تحقق نجاحات نسبية في محاصرة الوباء ومكافحته، وتقدّم في الوقت ذاته أفضل ما لديها لخدمة شعبها وتمدّ يد العون والمساعدة لغيرها في مجالات الخبرة والمساعدة العينية، في حين دولة التشيك الصديقة الحميمة لدولة الاحتلال والولايات المتحدة تسرق ما يمرّ عبرها من مساعدات صينية كانت في طريقها إلى إيطاليا. إنه موقف أخلاقي يعبّر عن نبل الشرق وأخلاقة وفلسفاته الإنسانية ويعاكس المواقف والأفكار النيوليبرالية والرأسمالية المتوحشة والمتمثلة في الأميركان وتوابعهم. في المقام ذاته نرى كوبا برغم فقرها وهوانها على الناس في وقت تراجعت فيه قيم الحرية والكرامة والثورة، ها هي تقف بكلّ شجاعة بأطبائها ومعداتهم وأدويتهم، تطوّعاً لا مأجورة لإنقاذ من يفوقها قوة وثراء، ولكنه دونها كرماً وعطاء.

عودة إلى عالمنا العربي الذي يبدو عصياً عن سماع الأخبار (بالطبع بعضه لا كله)، غير مستجيب للمتغيّرات التي أحدثها الوباء، حيث يتحالف السياسي المفرط في قضايا شعبه وأهله مع رجل المال الفاسد والجشع في ثنائية شيطانيّة، الأول يريد أن يبقى جالساً على كرسيه وبالتالي الاستمرار في خدمة مشاريع أعداء بلده ويجد في هذا الوباء دثاراً له والثاني يجد في الوباء فرصة لتحقيق أرباح ومكاسب. لا يوجد ما يشير إلى أنّ تغيّراً في أخلاق وعقول ومسلكيات هؤلاء قد طرأ عليه أيّ تغيّر او تبديل، برغم انّ الموت يترصّد بالجميع حاكماً ومحكوماً، غنيّاً وفقيراً، وهو لا يجد فرقاً في مذاق رئتي الأمير تشارلز ورئتي أيّ مواطن صيني او إيطالي أو غيره، لا فرق أبداً في الطعم والمذاق.

الكورونا تفتك بالعالم، ولكن الحرب على اليمن وقد دخلت عامها السادس لا تزال تستعر وتزداد ضراوة ولا نية على ما يبدو لإيقافها، برغم انّ أكلافها قد تجاوزت نصف تريليون دولار، فهل مَن تحمّل هذه الأكلاف في هذه الحرب القذرة والظالمة يرغب او يقبل أن يدفع جزءاً ولو بسيط منها لإغاثة المليار محاصر في معزله الصحي أو بيته؟ أو لإنتاج أدوية ولقاحات لمعالجة المصابين؟ واليمن ليس إلا مثالاً لما يجري في فلسطين المحتلة وغزة المحاصرة وسورية وليبيا التي لا يزال الإنفاق على تدميرهما على أشدّه.

وإذا كان ما تقدّم عن أهل السياسة فماذا عن حلفائهم وشركائهم من وحوش المال؟ يتداول الناس مقارنة بين هؤلاء وبين مصمّم أزياء إيطالي تبرّع بمعظم ثروته لحكومته لإنقاذ أهله وشعبه فيما مواطنته ممثلة الأفلام الإباحية تتبرّع بستين مليون يورو للسبب ذاته. أثرياؤنا لم يتبرّعوا إلا بالفتات ولذرّ الرماد بالعيون، فكلّ ما سمعناه عن كرمهم وعطائهم في هذه الأزمة يقلّ كثيراً عما تبرّعت به مومس إيطالية تفوقهم شرفاً وعفة وكرماً وعطاء وانتماء لبلدها ولشعبها. لا يفكر هذا النوع إلا بكيفية الاستفادة من الأزمة ولتحقيق مزيد من الربح، ولنضرب مثلا أنّ إحدى شركات الخلوي في بلادنا والتي تحقق سنوياً أرباحاً خرافية، فبدل أن تقدّم يد العون أخذت ترسل رسائل sms لزبائنها للاشتراك في تطبيق مدفوع الثمن: اعرف آخر أخبار الكورونا.

هكذا يبدو العالم من حولنا… إفلاس وانكشاف أنظمة لطالما تغنّت بالقيم والمبادئ السامية، نراها بأمّ العين تتمرّغ قيمها المزعومة في أوحال الوباء بشكليه الفيروسي والقيمي، وفيما أنظمة لطالما اتهمت من قبل الفريق الأول بشموليتها وعدم احترامها للإنسان، نراها ترتقي وتسمو على آلامها وجراحها وتقدّم لشعوبها وللعالم خدماتها. وهكذا يبدو شرقنا الذي لم تصل إلى أسماع بعض قادته أخبار الوباء، فواصلوا حروبهم العبثية لقتل أهل فلسطين وسورية واليمن وليبيا تاركين للوباء مهمة قتل مَن لم يقتلوه بأيديهم وأسلحتهم.

فتى آذار… الثائر الأول

ليس في تاريخ الأحزاب التي نعرفها عبر التاريخ، مسيرة دراميّة مليئة بالأحداث الأسطوريّة، سواء لجهة طابعها الملحميّ، أو لجهة تزاحم أحداثها الكبيرة، ودرجة العبقريّة التي تخفيها شخصية بطلها الأول، ما يشبه ثنائية الزعيم أنطون سعاده والحزب السوري القومي الاجتماعي. فالحزب الذي تأسس عام 1932 ولد مؤسسه وواضع عقيدته ومنشئ تشكيله النظامي الأول في أول آذار عام 1904، أي أن الزعيم الذي وضع العقيدة بما فيها من معالجات نظرية معقدة وتحليلات تتداخل مع شتى العلوم، من الجغرافيا والتاريخ إلى النظريات السياسية الوضعية والعقائد المنتشرة، والاقتصاد وعلم الاجتماع وعلوم السياسة والاستراتيجيات وفنون وأصول الإدارة، كان في الثامنة والعشرين من العمر فقط، وخلال السنوات التي تلت التأسيس قبل استشهاد الزعيم، والتي تشكل بمجموعها سبع عشرة سنة، تحوّل الحزب وزعيمه قضية أولى على جداول أعمال أنظمة المنطقة وفي طليعتها الكيان الغاصب لفلسطين والاستعمار الفرنسي والبريطاني، بسبب التهديد الجدّي الذي مثله انتشار وتوسّع وتجذر بنائه التنظيمي وأدائه النضالي، حتى توافق الجميع على التخلص من سعاده وإعدامه الذي شكل بذاته ملحمة بطولة نادرة في حياة رجال الفكر والسياسة، جعلت الكثيرين يقارنون بين اعتقال وإعدام سعاده الثائر، واعتقال وإعدام الثائر الأمميّ أرنستوتشي غيفارا، وربما ترجح كفة سعاده لدى الكثيرين منهم.

خلال أكثر من ثمانية وثمانين عاماً عاصرت عقيدة سعاده وحزبه عقائد وأحزاب كثيرة أخرى، لكن الأحداث لم تمنح المصداقية لعقيدة بمثل ما منحتها لعقيدة سعاده، سواء لجهة ما يجمع بين الكيانات السوريّة، وحتمية فشل تقسيمات سايكس بيكو في إخفاء مصيرها الواحد ووحدة نسيجها الاجتماعي، أو لجهة الخطر المحدق الذي يمثله كيان الاحتلال الصهيونيّ لفلسطين على سائر كيانات الأمة، والحاجة لمواجهته بالسلاح المنظّم والمقاومة الرادعة، واستحالة الرهان على التسويات السياسية لاستعادة أيٍّ من حقوق الشعب الفلسطينيّ. فالصراع مع هذا الكيان هو صراع وجود لا صراع حدود، أو لجهة فشل الأنظمة المؤسسة على الصيغ الطائفيّة وحيوية الحاجة لتأكيد وحدة النسيج الاجتماعي عبر دولة مدنية علمانية، لا تتداخل فيها الهويات الاجتماعية المستحقة للاحترام على مستوى الاعتقاد الشخصي، مع الهوية الجامعة على مستوى الوطن والأمة، التي تبنى عليها الدولة.

فتى آذار لبناني المولد، عالمي المكانة العلميّة بين علماء السياسة والاجتماع، نهضويّ تغييريّ، مقاوم وثائر من طراز خاص، يمكن لكل لبناني مجرد عن عصبية أو حقد موروث أو تلاعب سياسي بالذاكرة، أن يفتخر بأنه إبن بلد، لكن على كل مَن يصف نفسه بالثائر اليوم من بين اللبنانيين، أن يتذكّر أن الثائر الأول الذي هزّ ركائز هذا النظام واستحق شهادته بامتياز، هو أنطون سعاده، الذي أخاف أركان النظام لأنه وضع يده على الجرح، وضغط فيه فأوجع حماة الطائفية وزبائن الأجنبي، ووكلاء منظومة النهب، فجعلوه هدفاً حتى أعدموه، فهل يعني هذا ما يجب أن يعنيه حول من يتسبّب بالوجع ويكون ثائراً بالمعنى العميق للكلمة، وبين مَن يكون لاعباً على القشرة يستمتع ويترف بالتلاعب به أهل النظام وينجحون باحتوائه وتقاسمه في ما بينهم، كما يتقاسمون المال والنفوذ وأدوات السيطرة، وهل يكون لذكرى سعاده فعلها في طرح الأسئلة الصحيحة لنيل الأجوبة الصحيحة، حول أصل الداء في لبنان، وفي ما حول لبنان، وبالتالي حول خطة عمل جريئة وجدّية من دونها يبقى كل جهد وتعب ووقت هباء، لأنه يلاعب القشرة ولا يصل إلى عمق الوجع.

المهم وربما الأهم في عقيدة سعاده، أنها أدركت جاذبية أفكارها الجريئة والجديدة والجامعة، فخشيت عليها من التحوّل إلى ترف الصالونات، فكان نصف العقيدة أو أكثر مركزاً على مكانة النظام والانتظام. فالحزب هو الذي يمنح العقيدة بعداً اجتماعياً، ومكانة فاعلة في حياة المجتمع، ويشقّ لها الطريق كمنبع لحلول جدية لمشكلات تعانيها الأمة ويرزح تحت وطأتها الشعب، ومن دون الحزب والنضال والتضحيات لا يعترف سعاده بمريدين ومؤيدين لعقيدته. فالقضية ليست قضية مَن يصفق ولا من يؤيد ولا من يعجب، بل من يجد في العقيدة وصفة خلاص شخصيّ وجماعيّ، ويتخذها نمط حياة وأسلوب عمل وإيماناً شخصياً يعيد تنظيم شخصيته وأولوياته ونمط حياته على أساسها، والبداية بالانتقال من الفرد كمحور للحياة، إلى الأمة كهوية وقضية يعرف ذاته من خلالها، ونواتها الحزب الذي يعيش شخصيتها ومبادئها وأخلاقياتها، ويجعلها هدفاً نضالياً يتحقق بالتضحيات.

في مسيرة مليئة بالتعرجات والإنجازات والخيبات، نجح القوميون في صيانة شعلة العقيدة واستمرار وملاءمة الحزب مع المتغيرات الكثيرة، لكنها المتغيرات التي أكدت صواب العقيدة وحاجة الحزب للارتقاء بنضاله إلى ما تستحقّ، ولم يغب الحزب عن استحقاقات الأمة التي تشهد عليها دماء الشهداء من مقاومة الاحتلال إلى مواجهة خطر الإرهاب التكفيري والتفتيتي، وإسقاط مشاريع التقسيم، ويبقى الحزب السوري القومي الاجتماعي، كلما نظرنا حولنا إلى الحاجة لحزب عابر للطوائف مترفّع عن الطائفية بصدق، وكلما نظرنا إلى ما حولنا من حاجة للتكامل بين كيانات لبنان وسورية والعراق والأردن وما حولها، وكلما نظرنا إلى فلسطين ودرجة وضوح الصورة لجهة سقوط التسويات وأوهامها وتظهير درجة العدوانيّة الدمويّة وآلامها، الحزب الذي يمتلك الأجوبة الحاضرة على الأسئلة الملحّة، بسهولة ما كتبه سعاده قبل ثمانية وثمانين عاماً وأكثر.

The Road to Damascus: How the Syria War was Won

What is happening in Syria, following yet another Russia-brokered deal, is a massive geopolitical game-changer. I’ve tried to summarize it in a single paragraph this way:

“It’s a quadruple win. The U.S. performs a face saving withdrawal, which Trump can sell as avoiding a conflict with NATO ally Turkey. Turkey has the guarantee – by the Russians – that the Syrian Army will be in control of the Turkish-Syrian border. Russia prevents a war escalation and keeps the Russia-Iran-Turkey peace process alive.  And Syria will eventually regain control of the entire northeast.”

Syria may be the biggest defeat for the CIA since Vietnam.

Yet that hardly begins to tell the whole story.

Allow me to briefly sketch in broad historical strokes how we got here.

It began with an intuition I felt last month at the tri-border point of Lebanon, Syria and Occupied Palestine; followed by a subsequent series of conversations in Beirut with first-class Lebanese, Syrian, Iranian, Russian, French and Italian analysts; all resting on my travels in Syria since the 1990s; with a mix of selected bibliography in French available at Antoine’s in Beirut thrown in.

The Vilayets

Let’s start in the 19^thcentury when Syria consisted of six vilayets — Ottoman provinces — without counting Mount Lebanon, which had a special status since 1861 to the benefit of Maronite Christians and Jerusalem, which was a sanjak (administrative division) of Istanbul.

The vilayets did not define the extremely complex Syrian identity: for instance, Armenians were the majority in the vilayet of Maras, Kurds in Diyarbakir – both now part of Turkey in southern Anatolia – and the vilayets of Aleppo and Damascus were both Sunni Arab.

Nineteenth century Ottoman Syria was the epitome of cosmopolitanism. There were no interior borders or walls. Everything was inter-dependent.

Then the Europeans, profiting from World War I, intervened. France got the Syrian-Lebanese littoral, and later the vilayets of Maras and Mosul (today in Iraq). Palestine was separated from Cham (the “Levant”), to be internationalized. The vilayet of Damascus was cut in half: France got the north, the Brits got the south. Separation between Syria and the mostly Christian Lebanese lands came later.

There was always the complex question of the Syria-Iraq border. Since antiquity, the Euphrates acted as a barrier, for instance between the Cham of the Umayyads and their fierce competitors on the other side of the river, the Mesopotamian Abbasids.

James Barr, in his splendid “A Line in the Sand,” notes, correctly, that the Sykes-Picot agreement imposed on the Middle East the European conception of territory: their “line in the sand” codified a delimited separation between nation-states. The problem is, there were no nation-states in region in the early 20^thcentury.

The birth of Syria as we know it was a work in progress, involving the Europeans, the Hashemite dynasty, nationalist Syrians invested in building a Greater Syria including Lebanon, and the Maronites of Mount Lebanon. An important factor is that few in the region lamented losing dependence on Hashemite Medina, and except the Turks, the loss of the vilayet of Mosul in what became Iraq after World War I.

In 1925, Sunnis became the de facto prominent power in Syria, as the French unified Aleppo and Damascus. During the 1920s France also established the borders of eastern Syria. And the Treaty of Lausanne, in 1923, forced the Turks to give up all Ottoman holdings but didn’t keep them out of the game.

The Turks soon started to encroach on the French mandate, and began blocking the dream of Kurdish autonomy. France in the end gave in: the Turkish-Syrian border would parallel the route of the fabled Bagdadbahn — the Berlin-Baghdad railway.

In the 1930s France gave in even more: the sanjak of Alexandretta (today’s Iskenderun, in Hatay province, Turkey), was finally annexed by Turkey in 1939 when only 40 percent of the population was Turkish.

The annexation led to the exile of tens of thousands of Armenians. It was a tremendous blow for Syrian nationalists. And it was a disaster for Aleppo, which lost its corridor to the Eastern Mediterranean.

To the eastern steppes, Syria was all about Bedouin tribes. To the north, it was all about the Turkish-Kurdish clash. And to the south, the border was a mirage in the desert, only drawn with the advent of Transjordan. Only the western front, with Lebanon, was established, and consolidated after WWII.

This emergent Syria — out of conflicting Turkish, French, British and myriad local interests —obviously could not, and did not, please any community. Still, the heart of the nation configured what was described as “useful Syria.” No less than 60 percent of the nation was — and remains — practically void. Yet, geopolitically, that translates into “strategic depth” — the heart of the matter in the current war.

From Hafez to Bashar

Starting in 1963, the Baath party, secular and nationalist, took over Syria, finally consolidating its power in 1970 with Hafez al-Assad, who instead of just relying on his Alawite minority, built a humongous, hyper-centralized state machinery mixed with a police state. The key actors who refused to play the game were the Muslim Brotherhood, all the way to being massacred during the hardcore 1982 Hama repression.

Secularism and a police state: that’s how the fragile Syrian mosaic was preserved. But already in the 1970s major fractures were emerging: between major cities and a very poor periphery; between the “useful” west and the Bedouin east; between Arabs and Kurds. But the urban elites never repudiated the iron will of Damascus: cronyism, after all, was quite profitable.

Damascus interfered heavily with the Lebanese civil war since 1976 at the invitation of the Arab League as a “peacekeeping force.” In Hafez al-Assad’s logic, stressing the Arab identity of Lebanon was essential to recover Greater Syria. But Syrian control over Lebanon started to unravel in 2005, after the murder of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri, very close to Saudi Arabia, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) eventually left.

Bashar al-Assad had taken power in 2000. Unlike his father, he bet on the Alawites to run the state machinery, preventing the possibility of a coup but completely alienating himself from the poor, Syrian on the street.

What the West defined as the Arab Spring, began in Syria in March 2011; it was a revolt against the Alawites as much  as a revolt against Damascus. Totally instrumentalized by the foreign interests, the revolt sprang up in extremely poor, dejected Sunni peripheries: Deraa in the south, the deserted east, and the suburbs of Damascus and Aleppo.

What was not understood in the West is that this “beggars banquet” was not against the Syrian nation, but against a “regime.” Jabhat al-Nusra, in a P.R. exercise, even broke its official link with al-Qaeda and changed its denomination to Fatah al-Cham and then Hayat Tahrir al-Cham (“Organization for the Liberation of the Levant”). Only ISIS/Daesh said they were fighting for the end of Sykes-Picot.

By 2014, the perpetually moving battlefield was more or less established: Damascus against both Jabhat al-Nusra and ISIS/Daesh, with a wobbly role for the Kurds in the northeast, obsessed in preserving the cantons of Afrin, Kobane and Qamichli.

But the key point is that each katiba (“combat group”), each neighborhood, each village, and in fact each combatant was in-and-out of allegiances non-stop. That yielded a dizzying nebulae of jihadis, criminals, mercenaries, some linked to al-Qaeda, some to Daesh, some trained by the Americans, some just making a quick buck.

For instance Salafis — lavishly financed by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait — especially Jaish al-Islam, even struck alliances with the PYD Kurds in Syria and the jihadis of Hayat Tahrir al-Cham (the remixed, 30,000-strong  al-Qaeda in Syria). Meanwhile, the PYD Kurds (an emanation of the Turkish Kurds’ PKK, which Ankara consider “terrorists”) profited from this unholy mess — plus a deliberate ambiguity by Damascus – to try to create their autonomous Rojava.

That Turkish Strategic Depth

Turkey was all in. Turbo-charged by the neo-Ottoman politics of former Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, the logic was to reconquer parts of the Ottoman empire, and get rid of Assad because he had helped PKK Kurdish rebels in Turkey.

Davutoglu’s Strategik Derinlik (“Strategic Depth’), published in 2001, had been a smash hit in Turkey, reclaiming the glory of eight centuries of an sprawling empire, compared to puny 911 kilometers of borders fixed by the French and the Kemalists. Bilad al Cham, the Ottoman province congregating Lebanon, historical Palestine, Jordan and Syria, remained a powerful magnet in both the Syrian and Turkish unconscious.

No wonder Turkey’s Recep Erdogan was fired up: in 2012 he even boasted he was getting ready to pray in the Umayyad mosque in Damascus, post-regime change, of course. He has been gunning for a safe zone inside the Syrian border — actually a Turkish enclave — since 2014. To get it, he has used a whole bag of nasty players — from militias close to the Muslim Brotherhood to hardcore Turkmen gangs.

With the establishment of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), for the first time Turkey allowed foreign weaponized groups to operate on its own territory. A training camp was set up in 2011 in the sanjakof Alexandretta. The Syrian National Council was also created in Istanbul – a bunch of non-entities from the diaspora who had not been in Syria for decades.

Ankara enabled a de facto Jihad Highway — with people from Central Asia, Caucasus, Maghreb, Pakistan, Xinjiang, all points north in Europe being smuggled back and forth at will. In 2015, Ankara, Riyadh and Doha set up the dreaded Jaish al-Fath (“Army of Conquest”), which included Jabhat al-Nusra (al-Qaeda).

At the same time, Ankara maintained an extremely ambiguous relationship with ISIS/Daesh, buying its smuggled oil, treating jihadis in Turkish hospitals, and paying zero attention to jihad intel collected and developed on Turkish territory. For at least five years, the MIT — Turkish intelligence – provided political and logistic background to the Syrian opposition while weaponizing a galaxy of Salafis. After all, Ankara believed that ISIS/Daesh only existed because of the “evil” deployed by the Assad regime.

The Russian Factor

The first major game-changer was the spectacular Russian entrance in the summer of 2015. Vladimir Putin had asked the U.S. to join in the fight against the Islamic State as the Soviet Union allied against Hitler, negating the American idea that this was Russia’s bid to restore its imperial glory. But the American plan instead, under Barack Obama, was single-minded: betting on a rag-tag Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a mix of Kurds and Sunni Arabs, supported by air power and U.S. Special Forces, north of the Euphrates, to smash ISIS/Daesh all the way to Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor.

Raqqa, bombed to rubble by the Pentagon, may have been taken by the SDF, but Deir ez-Zor was taken by Damascus’s Syrian Arab Army. The ultimate American aim was to consistently keep the north of the Euphrates under U.S. power, via their proxies, the SDF and the Kurdish PYD/YPG. That American dream is now over, lamented by imperial Democrats and Republicans alike.

Kurdish Dream Over

Talk about a cultural misunderstanding. As much as the Syrian Kurds believed U.S. protection amounted to an endorsement of their independence dreams, Americans never seemed to understand that throughout the “Greater Middle East” you cannot buy a tribe. At best, you can rent them. And they use you according to their interests. I’ve seen it from Afghanistan to Iraq’s Anbar province.

The Kurdish dream of a contiguous, autonomous territory from Qamichli to Manbij is over. Sunni Arabs living in this perimeter will resist any Kurdish attempt at dominance.

The Syrian PYD was founded in 2005 by PKK militants. In 2011, Syrians from the PKK came from Qandil – the PKK base in northern Iraq – to build the YPG militia for the PYD. In predominantly Arab zones, Syrian Kurds are in charge of governing because for them Arabs are seen as a bunch of barbarians, incapable of building their “democratic, socialist, ecological and multi-communitarian” society.

One can imagine how conservative Sunni Arab tribal leaders hate their guts. There’s no way these tribal leaders will ever support the Kurds against the SAA or the Turkish army; after all these Arab tribal leaders spent a lot of time in Damascus seeking support from Bashar al-Assad.  And now the Kurds themselves have accepted that support in the face of the Trukish incursion, greenlighted by Trump.

East of Deir ez-Zor, the PYD/YPG already had to say goodbye to the region that is responsible for 50 percent of Syria’s oil production. Damascus and the SAA now have the upper hand. What’s left for the PYD/YPG is to resign themselves to Damascus’s and Russian protection against Turkey, and the chance of exercising sovereignty in exclusively Kurdish territories.

Ignorance of the West

The West, with typical Orientalist haughtiness, never understood that Alawites, Christians, Ismailis and Druze in Syria would always privilege Damascus for protection compared to an “opposition” monopolized by hardcore Islamists, if not jihadis.  The West also did not understand that the government in Damascus, for survival, could always count on formidable Baath party networks plus the dreaded mukhabarat — the intel services.

Rebuilding Syria

The reconstruction of Syria may cost as much as $200 billion. Damascus has already made it very clear that the U.S. and the EU are not welcome. China will be in the forefront, along with Russia and Iran; this will be a project strictly following the Eurasia integration playbook — with the Chinese aiming to revive Syria’s strategic positioning in the Ancient Silk Road.

As for Erdogan, distrusted by virtually everyone, and a tad less neo-Ottoman than in the recent past, he now seems to have finally understood that Bashar al-Assad “won’t go,” and he must live with it. Ankara is bound to remain imvolved with Tehran and Moscow, in finding a comprehensive, constitutional solution for the Syrian tragedy through the former “Astana process”, later developed in Ankara.

The war may not have been totally won, of course. But against all odds, it’s clear a unified, sovereign Syrian nation is bound to prevail over every perverted strand of geopolitical molotov cocktails concocted in sinister NATO/GCC labs. History will eventually tell us that, as an example to the whole Global South, this will remain the ultimate game-changer.

 

The Inequitable Spirit of Zionism Grips the Globe

In spite of how contemporary intellectuals tend to perceive Zionism depending upon their personal affiliations and individual inclinations, irrespective of the various known versions of this rather modern creed, and regardless of the assortment of interpretations presented as an argument by proponents of each, the truth of the matter is mankind has not furnished and history has not witnessed another idea as inherently devious and inhumane in its essence as Zionism – no matter how you sugar-coat it.  And you do not have to be an historian, academic, activist, or carry any other fancy intellectual title to understand this – you just have to be a human being with the most basic common sense and the most elementary concept of common civility.

Formally introduced to the world in 1897, ostensibly as a response to the rise of anti-semitism in Europe, Zionism essentially intended to infuse the world Jewry with the passion of pan-Jewish nationalism in a bid to Return to Zion i.e. to establish a Jewish homeland in the Promised Holy Land – a Jewish state in historic Palestine wherein Jews will no longer face the discrimination extended to their minority existence elsewhere.  This was Theodore Herzl’s (the founding father of the Zionist movement)‘secular’ answer to over 2,000 years of Jewish Diaspora all the while drawing upon Jewish religious connection to Jerusalem and Eretz Yisrael.

Hence migration of European Jews to Palestine and the Jewish purchase of Palestinian land commenced with an aim to ‘create facts on the ground’ despite orthodox Jews’ initial opposition to Zionism.  As had been originally proposed by Zevi Hirsch Kalischeras, as far back as in 1836, the Rothschild embarked on a mission to grab Palestinian land by hook or by crook – employing deceptive tactics that are nowadays peddled as ‘cooperation from treacherous absentee Palestinian Arab landlords’.  The first Kibbutz was established in 1909 by European Jews and from 1922-35 the Jewish population, which had already risen from a meagre 3% in 1880 to 9% in 1922, soared as high as 27%.  During this period, the deep-seated Scriptural belief that Palestine was promised to them by God combined with the anti-Semitic effect of various ‘controlled conflicts’ instigated by Western Imperialism, remained critical in propelling Jews toward their ‘ancestral home’.

Well abetted by the clandestine Sykes-Picot Agreement that in 1916 proposed British and French ‘spheres of influence’ in a colonised South-western Asia in the aftermath of the yet to occur fall of Ottomans (1918-1922), the unstinting patronage extended by the infamous Balfour Declaration in 1917, and the cover of legitimacy provided by the League of Nations’ British Mandate of Palestine in 1923, not to forget Hitler’s rise to power in the run up to WW2, the migration of Jews on one hand and the rather strategic displacement of tens of thousands of Palestinians on the other, continued.  Arabs did raise their voice, and episodes of mob violence against the Jews also occurred, but by and large the Arab opposition to the British designs impelled by the Zionists, was ruthlessly suppressed.  The Arab revolt of 1936-39 was squashed by the British colonists not only by employing Zionist Militia but also by making effective use of the rather self-centred territorial interest of the disingenuous non-Palestinian Arab elite.  Despite the façade of the 1939 White Paper that limited Jewish migration and land purchase, in an alleged attempt to mark an end to the British-Zionist alliance, the clandestine affair between the two never came to an end at any point in time – not to this day.  By 1948 when the British Mandate of Palestine was about to end, the deliberate distribution of Jewish settlements which had progressively spread on the Palestinian lands, came to determine the map of partition proposed by United Nations  – later adopted by the UN General Assembly as Resolution 181.  The UN Plan of Partition awarded 55% of the land to Israel, encompassing many a cities with Palestinian Arab majority and the vital coastline from Haifa to Jaffa, thereby depriving the indigenous Palestinian population of key agricultural lands and seaports.  Arabs rejected the proposed partition, and argued it violated the principle of national self-determination outlined in United Nations’ charter however the Jewish Agency for Palestine accepted the same.  And soon after, the 1948 war broke out.  The British departed at the end of their Mandate (which interestingly coincided with the start of the war) but assisted by shipments of arms from the West, the Zionist paramilitary groups set out on the path of violent genocide – large scale attacks, massacres, destruction of entire villages – all aimed at expulsion of Palestinians from Eretz Yisrael.  The neighbouring Arab states i.e. Egypt, Iraq, Syria and Jordan invaded what was now Israel – they claimed they sought to save Palestine from the Zionists – the armistice agreements signed in 1949 and what ensued however did tend to suggest somewhat otherwise – with around 78% of historic Palestine confiscated by Israel, East Jerusalem and the hill country i.e. the West Bank ended up under Jordan while Egypt assumed control of the coastal plain around the Gaza strip effectually putting an end to the likelihood of a Palestinian state as initially proposed in the UN Partition Plan.  Despite the fact the state of Israel had been recognised by the international community (with the exception of 31 nations) based on its 1948 borders, following the second Arab-Israel war in 1967, Israel came to occupy not only the rest of Palestine i.e. East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza, but also the Syrian Golan Heights and the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula.  And in spite of UN resolution 242 adopted in 1967, the Zionist state continues to occupy the aforementioned regions with the exception of Sinai.  Not only that, Israel in fact claims ‘innocence’ on the pretext that the status of these territories was ambiguous and that Israel took control of East Jerusalem and the West Bank from Jordan while the Gaza strip was taken from Egypt’s dominion.  Essentially the pre-emptively dispersed expanse of less arable land, which was meant to constitute the Palestinian state as per the United Nations’ flawed Partition Plan in 1948, was first bestowed upon Jordan and Egypt in exchange of a truce in 1948 and then seized by the Zionist entity in 1967 when the passage of 19 years had efficaciously cooled down the heated uproar against the stealing of Palestine while the intensity of commotion caused by the merciless displacement of well over 700,000 Palestinians had been dampened partly because of the fast evolving Geo-political panorama and to a degree due to the increasingly selfish interests of the nations of the world.

With inordinate impunity furnished by a mute West and a meek East that have been held hostage to the absolute financial power of the Rothschild for at least a century, the Zionist entity has since brazenly persisted in its disdain for anything remotely humane, ethical, or rational.  The story of the colossal injustice perpetrated by it has unfolded progressively, and revealed the most ignoble facets of human existence.  It has not only exposed the unscrupulous spirit sitting at the core of Zionism itself, but also underlined the fact if permitted man’s weakness of flesh renders him rather predisposed to not only endorsing the most unlawful of acts but also glorifying them as the most virtuous.

Fernando Barral, the Spanish psychiatrist who in 1970 interviewed the deceased Zionist puppet, the decorated American War Veteran-Senator John McCain, thus articulated McCain’s psychological constitution:  “From the moral and ideological point of view he showed us he is an insensitive individual without human depth, who does not show the slightest concern, who does not appear to have thought about the criminal acts he committed against a population from the almost absolute impunity of his airplane…  I noted he was hardened, that he spoke of banal things as if he were at a cocktail party.”  Today the images of mockingly gleeful snipers of ‘the most moral army in the world’ defending a stolen territory with live ammunition, callously fired upon unarmed and effectively imprisoned rightful owners of the land, demanding their recognised right to return home (UN Resolution 194), categorically depict a similar psychological make-up – apparently quite naturally bred by Zionism.

Had there been no real time large-scale evidence falling in line with the aforementioned assessment, and had we observed only a few odd instances of behaviour characterised by an absolute lack of intellect and conscience at the individual level, we may not have been able to ascertain the nature of what actually sits at the core of Zionism and rules the Zionist mind-set.   And had not countless shameful tales emerged from the long history of brutality embodied by the actions of the Zionist entity subsequent to its unlawful inception, custodians of Zionism could have still had some weight to their argument.  But in the face of innumerable ignominious real time manifestations of pan-Jewish nationalism, not a hologram of occurrences in a different subset of time and space, and the unceasing exhibition of unscrupulousness on part of Israel and her lobbyists, allies and friends, it sounds ridiculously bizarre to continue contending the innocence and purity of Zionism’s nationalistic character.

In fact the attempt to debate the veracity of Zionism as a purely nationalist notion intended to unite world Jewry in the ‘Promised Holy Land’ and to ‘address threats toEretz Yisrael’ thereafter, only serves to highlight Zionism’s inherent inequity.  After all did not the initiators of the Zionist movement imagine to make ‘home’ for a marginalised people, adherents of Judaism, on a land that essentially belonged to someone else, because the self-proclaimed  ‘chosen race’ held the Scriptural belief this land had been promised to it by God? “Can you think of another historical moment when people ‘returned’ to an imaginary ‘homeland’ after 2,000 years and asked the indigenous population to move out to make room for the former ‘residents?”

The problem is truth is self-evident and it cannot be suppressed forever – you can just not kill the thing.  Unless one does not have qualms about living a deeply delusional existence, with a dysfunctional psyche, and a dead conscience, one may not find it possible to see Zionism as much more than an epitome of intellectual and moral depravity – a classic religio-political conglomerate, which remained in the making for eons before its deliberate conception in the 19^th century and has since effectively dominated the globe, in unison with Colonialism and Capitalism – infusing planet earth with a very unwholesome spirit – the spirit of Pre-eminence and Exceptionalism – with the sole objective of world-wide subjugation of the common man to the coldblooded, illogical and decadent core of the Zionist psyche.  In fact it will not be an exaggeration to state the Zionist philosophy has made it permissible for ‘Might is Right’ to emerge as a widely practiced modern day norm – not just at the macro but also at the micro level – and nothing could have been more tragic for mankind than returning to the Law of the Jungle in the 21^st century.

Thus today we literally have an ‘Axis of Evil’ that dominates the power centres of the modern world.  It comprises of the serpent-like 1% global elite in control of the treasure of an entire planet – it manipulates the common man only to rob him of his right to life – it wages wars indiscriminately at the drop of the hat wherever and whenever deemed profitable and under whichever pretext it fancies – it tramples upon the life and honour of entire nations leaving behind ardently created quagmires studded with five-star destruction and misery – it lies passionately and deceives unceasingly with outright contempt for human intellect – it infiltrates naïve minds with a plethora of unwholesome notions only to muddle the boundary between truth and falsehood and do away with the very notion of ‘right and wrong’.  And it does it all with the sole objective of transforming the mass population of this globe into a gathering of zombies, intellectually depraved and morally corrupt obedient slaves, who could be effortlessly employed to serve the will and the whim of the ‘chosen few’.

From Palestine to Kashmir injustice reigns – from Libya to Afghanistan discord rules – Iraq and Syria stand in absolute ruins – Yemen writhes under the burden of genocide – black lives in Africa never mattered and they still do not count – multitudes of migrants continue to pour into a Europe made affluent by the stealing of others’ wealth as they escape what now stands distraught by White man’s wars only to encounter hatred from other White men – and all the while the authors of this harrowing tale continue to dismiss ‘the whining yelpings of base-bred mongrel-multitudes’ with utmost arrogance thereby manifesting the rewritten Sermon on the Mount:

“Blessed are the Iron-handed, the unfit shall flee before them. Cursed are the Haters of Battle, subjugation is their portion”

The British History of Terrorism in Palestine

Britain declared this past week that it intends to add the Lebanese political bloc Hezbollah ‘in its entirety’ to list of banned ‘terrorist’ organizations and to ban membership of or support for Hezbollah’s political wing. It was not surprising given the full-time lobbying that ‘Israel’ pushes into the UK Parliament. However, given the history of Hezbollah, a force of liberation and resistance against the occupation of the Zionist ‘Israeli’ entity and its big role in fighting off and eliminating takfiri terrorists in Lebanon and Syria, one has to stop and raise her/his voice in the face of Britain’s hypocrisy.

The hypocrisy of UK’s politicians does not manifest itself only when it comes to pointing fingers at the region’s only force that has ever defied and crushed ‘Israeli’ aggressions, yet it simultaneously turns a deliberate blind eye to the history of colonial Britain that is nothing short of terrorizing due to the warmongering foreign policy of the UK in support of Zionism.

One can easily make a massive collection of the UK’s historic atrocities committed with contemplation and determination to weaken and subordinate the natives within Britain’s colonies. Being an Arab from what the UK assigned “The Middle East” when it really is west Asia, the biggest atrocity I see committed by Britain in my region is its role in the illegal creation of Zionist ‘Israel’ on stolen Arab Palestinian land.

The British role in Stealing Palestine

The Balfour declaration was the moment that it became British state policy to support the creation of a “Jewish homeland” in Palestine. A hundred years ago, British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour wrote what was to some the Magna Carta of Zionism. To the Arabs, who ended up being violently dispossessed, it was a calamitous promise. As the British author Arthur Koestler famously put it, “One nation solemnly promised to a second nation the country of a third.” It was an early and foundational contribution from Britain to the world’s most intractable war still ongoing since 1948. However, the British role in terrorizing, stealing and colonizing Palestine started way before that.

In 1917, the British colonial forces entered Palestine, and by 1918, the Ottoman rule over Palestine was ended following the defeat of its forces in WWI at the Battle of Megiddo in September 1918. Under the ‘Sykes-Picot Agreement of 1916’, it was envisioned that most of Palestine, after ending the Ottoman control over it, would become an international zone not under direct French or British colonial control. However, after the war, Palestine was occupied by the British Military from 1917 until 1920.

During the period Palestine was under British occupation, the Zionists were putting pressure on the British Government to facilitate the establishment of a ‘Jewish Homeland’ on the land of Palestine. On the 2nd of November 1917, the British responded to the Zionist demands through what became to be known as the ‘Balfour Declaration’. Arthur Balfour, the British Foreign Secretary at the time, handed a letter to Lord Rothschild (a leader of the British Jewish community) for transmission to the Zionist Federation (a private Zionist organization). The letter declared the support of the British King’s Government to the Zionists’ plans of establishing a Jewish ‘national home’ in Palestine, as if Palestine is part of British land.

All this was established at the hands of the warmongering psychopath of all time, Winston Churchill. Churchill’s own efforts to help establish a “Jewish national home” for the sons of Zion in Palestine were at their most intense throughout 1921 and 1922 when, as Colonial Secretary, he was directly responsible for the evolution of British policy in the Middle East.

Since that date, Jewish immigration to Palestine, which started around 1882, increased rapidly. Conflicts erupted between the new Jewish settlers and the local Palestinian people, each fought for their survival. The Palestinian people rebelled against the British Mandate and its policies of settling foreigners on their land; meanwhile, the Jewish illegal colonial gangs continued to carry attacks on the Palestinian people as well as on the British mandate forces. So, the United Nations on the 29th November 1947 agreed upon a ‘Partition Plan of Palestine’, which would divide Palestine into two independent States; one for the Jews and another for the Palestinians, while keeping Jerusalem under international administration, by declaring it a ‘Corpus Separatum’. However, the plan was never implemented.

Churchill, the British terrorist regarded the Arab population in Palestine to be a “lower manifestation”, declaring that the “dog in a manger has the final right to the manger”, by this he meant the Arabs of Palestine. In 1921, as he stood in the Palestinian city of AlQuds, Churchill told Palestinian leaders “it is manifestly right that the Jews, who are scattered all over the world, should have a national center and a National Home where some of them may be reunited. And where else could that be but in this land of Palestine, with which for more than 3,000 years they have been intimately and profoundly associated?” He blatantly stood on a foreign land and demanded its people to give it away willingly to a third party. His demands were not very subtle and diplomatic you see, they were done with guns pointed to heads of Palestinian natives.

Obviously, the Palestinian Arabs refused to accept, and in London on 22 August 1921, they once more urged Churchill to bring a complete halt to Jewish immigration. Churchill rejected this appeal, telling the Arabs: “The Jews have a far more difficult task than you. You have only to enjoy your own possession; but they have to try to create out of the wilderness, out of the barren places, a livelihood for the people they bring in… they were in Palestine many hundreds of years ago. They have always tried to be there. They have done a great deal for the country. They have started many thriving colonies and many of them wish to go and live there. It is to them a sacred place.” As if to the Palestinian natives it is a place that they can just give up, because someone else who came from hundreds of miles away claims that Palestine is his, by religious right. You still find people in the west who read this last statement and actually agree with it, until you ask them how they would feel if Arabs decided to come back to Spain’s southern coast of Andalusia and claim it is sacred to them and start a one race/one religion state for them there. When you hear their deafening silence you understand that they know how wrong and illegal the creation of Zionist ‘Israel’ was, yet they don’t dare declare that in fear of being stigmatized as anti-Semitics, disregarding the fact that native Palestinians are the real Semites in this story and not the illegal European colonial settlers.

Churchill stuck to his Zionist policy later in 1937, at the Palestine Royal Commission (Peel), where he stated that he believed in intention of the Balfour Declaration was to make Palestine an “overwhelmingly Jewish state”. On 19 May 1941, in a secret memorandum, he wrote of his hope for the establishment after the war of a “Jewish State of Western Palestine” with not only the fullest rights for immigration and development, but also with provision “for expansion in the desert regions to the southwards which they would gradually reclaim.” Even after the great theft of Palestine, Churchill was still promising the illegal Zionist settlers more free land for them to grab to the south of Palestine, meaning in both Egypt and the Arabian Peninsula.

Rigid Partnership to Terrorize Arabs

Even now, more than 100 years later, the British political, military and intelligence support for ‘Israel’ facilitates the ‘Israeli’ aggression be it against Palestine, Lebanon or Syria. In 2018, the UK pledged to increase “trade and investment” between the two countries, which already stands at a record 9 billion dollars as ‘Israel’ continues to murder Palestinian natives on a daily basis. Yet, one cannot find a single article in the British “mainstream” media noting the depth of supportive UK policies towards ‘Israel’ since the late 1890s to date.

In 2016 and 2017, the UK sold 512 million dollars’ worth of military goods to ‘Israel’, including components for combat aircraft, tanks, drones and military communications and approved export licenses for 34 types of military-related equipment. No one seems to ask; for what? Or more practically; to kill whom?

The UK wants to ban Hezbollah for being a force of resistance to the continuous ‘Israeli’ occupation and aggressions while at the same fills up the tanks of the most aggressive entity in west Asia, expecting the natives in that region to sit and watch instead of prepare to defend themselves.

The UK’s military relationship with Zionist ‘Israel’ is extensive, covering areas such as naval cooperation and the provision of components for ‘Israeli’ nuclear-armed submarines. However, the UK chooses to brand Hezbollah as a terrorist group, all while ‘Israel’ has nuclear-armed submarines without being a signatory of the Nuclear Proliferation treaty. The British government revealed in 2018 that it was providing military training to ‘Israel.’ This followed news in 2016 that British military pilots were due to be trained by a company owned by ‘Israeli’ arms firm Elbit Systems. Training is longstanding: in 2011, it was revealed that British soldiers were being trained in ‘Israel’ in the use of drones that had been “field-tested on Palestinians” during the 2008 war on Gaza.

So tell us again Britain, who exactly is the terrorist organization?

Will London, Paris And Tel-Aviv Be Sanctioned By Moscow And Washington?

On 17 September 2018, France, Israël and the United Kingdom carried out a joint operation against Syrian targets. During the brief moments of combat, a Russian reconnaissance plane was brought down by Syrian ’friendly fire’. Study of the recordings shows that an Israëli F-16 had flown hidden behind the Ilyushin Il-20 in order to confuse the Syrian Air Defences.

The destruction of a Russian military aircraft by the fault of Israël, during a joint operation by the United Kingdom, France and Israël, caused consternation in all the chancelleries. Since the start of hostilities in Syria seven years ago, if there were a ’red line’, it was that the different protagonists should never endanger Russian, US, or Israëli forces.

We are sure about very little of what actually happened, except that :

 a British Tornado took off from Cyprus to land in Iraq. During the flight, it violated Syrian air space in order to scan the Syrian defences and make the allied attack possible.
 less than an hour later, four Israëli F-16s and a French frigate, L’Auvergne, fired on targets in the Syrian governorate of Lattakia. The Syrian air defences protected their country by firing their S-200s against the French and Israëli missiles.
 During the battle, an F-16 used a Russian Ilyushin Il-20 as a shield. The Ilyushin was flying a surveillance mission over the area, localising jihadist drone launch sites. The Syrian defences fired a missile, aiming for the thermal signal of the Israëli aircraft. Theoretically, therefore, it could have destroyed the Russian plane by mistake.

This is, however, implausible, because S-200 missiles are equipped with a reconnaissance system able to distinguish between friendly and enemy targets, which the Russian Minister for Defence successively confirmed, then denied. In any case, the Ilyushin was destroyed, without our knowing for certain how, or by whom.

The cowardice of the British and French leaders led them to censor all information concerning their responsibility in this operation. London made no comment, and Paris denied the facts. Neither the BBC, nor France-Television dared to mention the subject. For these two countries, more than ever, the reality of external politics is excluded from the democratic debate.

Immediate interpretation of the events

We do not know if the destruction of the Russian aircraft (causing the death of the 15 men on board) can be blamed on the Israëli pilot – which seems highly unlikely – on the Israëli army, or on the alliance which carried out the attack.

On the answer to this question hangs the possibility of conflict between four nuclear powers. The situation is therefore extremely serious. It has no precedent since the creation of the Russian Federation, at the end of 1991.

The British-French-Israëli aggression is the response by these three countries to the Russian-Turkish agreement signed only a few hours earlier at Sotchi. It came into play after the US refusal, at the beginning of September, to bomb Syria under false pretences, and the sending of a US delegation into the Arab world in order to express its disagreement with the British-French initiatives.

The Sotchi agreements were signed by Turkey under intense pressure from Russia. In Teheran, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had refused to sign the Memorandum concerning the withdrawal of the jihadist and Turkish forces in Idlib. This had not pleased President Vladimir Putin, who answered first of all by reaffirming the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and, furthermore, by underlining for the first time the illegitimacy, under international law, of the Turkish military presence in the country. Ten days later, a very unsettled Mr, Erdoğan accepted an invitation to Russia.

The Sotchi agreement, while distancing Turkey a little further from NATO with its energy contracts, forced Ankara de facto to withdraw from a part of the territory that it occupies, allegedly to better protect the pseudo-« rebels » gathered in the governorate of Idlib. Besides this, Turkey only has one month in which to confiscate the heavy weaponry of its friends from Al-Qaïda and Daesh in the demilitarised zone.

This agreement was obviously unacceptable for London, Paris and Tel-Aviv :

 in the end, it plans for the disappearance of the jihadists as an army, while London has been supervising, training and manipulating them for decades;
 the end of the dream of a French mandate over Syria and of the creation of a new French colony in the North of the country, under the phoney name of Kurdistan (Kurdistan is legitimate only within the frontiers which were recognised by the Sèvres Conference, in 1920.) In other words, not in Iran, nor Iraq or Syria, but only in what is now known as Turkey).
 the end of the regional domination of Israël, faced with a stable Syria under Russian protection.

Mid-term interpretation of the events

The British-French-Israëli military alliance has not entered into action since the Suez Canal crisis in 1956.

At that time, Anthony Eden, Guy Mollet and David Ben Gourion joined their forces in order to humiliate the Arab nationalists, particularly the Egyptian Gamal Abdel Nasser, and to re-establish the British and French colonial empires (« Operation Musketeer »).

This is exactly what happened with this new attack : as was confirmed by the Secretary General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, none of the targets under attack were linked in any way to Iran or Hezbollah. This British-French-Israëli action had nothing to do with the international struggle against the jihadists in general and Daesh in particular. It also had no connection with the overthrow of the Syrian Arab Republic or its President, Bachar el-Assad. Its main objective was to kill military scientists, in particular the rocket specialists from the Institute of Technical Industries in Lattakia.

This is therefore the resumption and continuation of the policy of targeted assassinations waged by Israël for the last twenty years, successively against the Iraqi, Iranian, and now Syrian scientists. It is one of the pillars of colonial policy : to prevent the submitted populations from attaining the same level of education as their masters. In former times, the Westerners forbade their slaves from learning to read under pain of death. Today, they eliminate their scientists.This policy was relaunched with the British-French-US bombing of 14 April 2018, in which the only target destroyed was the Scientific Research Centre in Barzeh, then with the breakdown of the 5+1 agreement with Iran (JCPoA) which forced the country to close its nuclear physics faculties (May 8, 2018).

It was a joint initiative : the jihadists destroy the past, the Westerners destroy the future.

Long-term interpretation of the events

Since the deployment of Russian troops in Syria, on 13 September 2015, to help Syria in its fight against the terrorists, the allies of the United States have understood the impossibility of carrying out the US plan without risking a world war. With the arrival of Donald Trump at the White House, they have progressively questioned their war objectives, abandoned the plans of the « Friends of Syria » and fallen back on their respective historical strategies.

It is this logic that led them to reform the alliance which provoked the Suez crisis, and it is this same logic which pushed Germany to distance itself from them.

At the beginning of the First World War, the British, French and Russian empires decided on the partition of the world which they would implement as soon as they had gained victory. The treaty was negotiated by Mark Sykes, Georges Picot and Sergueï Sazonov. During the course of the World War, however, the Tsar was overthrown by the Bolcheviks, which meant that the areas of the world originally reserved for the Russian empire were once again up for grabs. Finally, at the end of the World War, only the part of the plan relative to the Middle East was applied, under the name of the « Sykes-Picot » agreement.

The return of Russia to the international game obviously brings into question the British-French colonial sharing of the Middle East. The foreseeable clash has just occurred, either accidentally or deliberately, with the destruction of the Ilyushin Il-20 during the joint British-French-Israëli military operation.

How to react

The bewilderment of the international community in the face of this brutal awakening of a century-old conflict can be measured by the Twitter silence from the White House.

During the Suez crisis, the Israëli troops engaged were twice as numerous as all the British and French forces together. The total number of coalition forces was about 250,000 men. This was therefore a very large-scale operation compared to that of Lattakia. But it remains true that the two sequences work from the same diplomatic logic, and may lead to the same developments.

During the Suez crisis, in the middle of the Cold War, the Soviet Union threatened the United Kingdom, France, and Israël with a nuclear riposte if they refused to withdraw from Egypt. At first, NATO supported the Europeans in threatening Moscow with a World War, before changing its mind. In the middle of the Cold War, therefore, the United States temporarily supported the USSR in order to halt the European folly.

For Washington, allowing the Europeans to pursue their plans was the equivalent of pushing all the Arab nations into the arms of the Soviets. Apart from that, it simply was not feasible to accept the French-British intervention at the same time as they were denouncing the repression of the Hungarian revolution by the Warsaw Pact.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower and Vice-President Richard Nixon launched a monetary attack against the pound sterling, sent their naval and airborne forces to interfere with the British-French-Israëli complex, and forbade the use of French military material financed by US funds.

International peace was preserved thanks to certain third parties such as the Secretary General of the UNO, Dag Hammarskjöld (who was assassinated three years later, and was posthumously awarded the Nobel Peace Prize); the Canadian Minister for Foreign Affairs Lester B. Pearson (who also received the Nobel Peace Prize); and the leader of the non-aligned nations and Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru.

The Suez crisis profoundly upset not only international political life, but also the national reality of the United Kingdom, France and Israël.
 Circumventing the European vetos at the Security Council, the UNO General Assembly called for the withdrawal of the invaders and created the first United Nations intervention force.
 In the United Kingdom, the House of Commons demanded the end of colonial politics to the profit of the promotion of the economic interests of London via the Commonwealth.
 In France, the Communists, the Gaullists and the Poujadists (including Jean-Marie Le Pen) united against the Centrists and the Socialists; a configuration that has never been seen since. Six years later, President De Gaulle considered that by recognising the independence of Algeria, he would put an end to military collaboration with the colonial state of Israël and restore the policy of friendship and collaboration with the Arab peoples, which had always characterised France, apart from its colonial period.

The position of the Western powers concerning the aggression on Lattakia is all the more difficult because, in violation of their agreement with Russia, the Israëlis only informed Moscow of their operation a long time after it had begun, and only one minute before they began firing. As for the Pentagon, they affirmed that they had not been warned at all. But let us not forget that the Israëli-Russian mutual non-aggression pact in Syria only exists because Israël is the US arsenal for the Middle East, housing (with Italy) the stocks of US weaponry for the entire region. If Israël truly did not inform the Pentagon of its actions in advance, then it can not benefit from US protection, and consequently the mutual non-aggression pact may be called into question by Russia.

The Russian response depends on the position of the White House, which we do not know for the moment. It must be guided by a desire to lessen tension, if possible, and also to maintain dissuasion by punishing the guilty party or parties as soon as the Kremlin names them. It is not necessary for Russia to make this sanction public as long as the chancelleries concerned are informed.

The Russian response

Russia has the choice of seeing in the destruction of their aircraft nothing more than a mistake by an Israeli pilot, or by the Israëli army, or again, by all three of the states implicated (the United Kingdom, France and Israël). The Russian Minister for Defence, Sergueï Choïgou, telephoned his Israëli counterpart, Avigdor Lieberman to inform him that he held Israël responsible for the accident, and reserved the right to riposte. A little later, President Putin declared « This is a series of tragic events, because our plane was not shot down by an Israëli aircraft ». He was careful to distinguish this situation from that of the deliberate destruction of a Sukhoï 24-M by Turkish fighters in November 2015. We are therefore heading towards the public designation of Israël as the sole responsible and a secret sanction against the three states involved.

The Israëli chargé d’affaires in Moscow, Keren Cohen Gat, was summoned by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, while in a knee-jerk reaction, Israëli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attempted to shovel the responsibility for the accident onto Iran. An Israëli delegation, led by the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, General Amikam Norkin, rushed off to Moscow with unprecedented haste. They contested the claims of the Russian Minister for Defence, affirmed that Israël was innocent, and that all the blame belonged to the negligence of the Syrians.

Moscow, 20 September 2018 – the Chief of Staff for the Israëli Air Force, General Amikam Norkin, arrives in a hurry to present his version of events. Once these proofs were checked and compared with other recordings, it transpired that Israël was lying straight-faced.

President Donald Trump, a great admirer of Richard Nixon’s foreign policy, was thus provided with the perfect occasion to finish with the British-French-Israëli support for the US deep state. However, in the middle of his election campaign, he can not afford to give the impression of supporting the Russian rival while he beats up his allies. He is therefore seeking a way of presenting his internal public with this major change of direction. From this perspective, during an interview with Hill TV, he condemned the US engagement in the Greater Middle East which was decided by his predecessor George Bush Jr after the attacks of 11 September 2001.

On 23 September, the spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Defence, General Igor Konashenkov, presented the synthesis of Russian intelligence and the information transmitted by Syria and Israël.

 He accused the Hebrew state of having deliberately violated the mutual non-aggression agreement of 2015 by not giving Russia advance notice of its attack and by lying about its targets.
 He accused it of having endangered civilian flights present in this zone of the Mediterranean, and of being responsible for the destruction of the Ilyuchin Il-20.
 He denounced its non-assistance to the Russian soldiers when their plane stalled.
 He also accused General Amikam Norkin of lying by pretending that the Israëli jets had already returned to Israël when the Russian plane stalled and crashed.
 Finally, he deflected the accusations of amateurism laid at the door of the Syrian Anti-Air Defence System.

However, he abstained from publicly blaming the United Kingdom and France, who were nonetheless just as concerned by his remarks against Israël.

In case the White House should find an acceptable narrative of the facts for its electors, Russia could forbid the United Kingdom, France and Israël from making any intrusion into the maritime, terrestrial and aerial space of Syria without the authorisation of Damascus. London and Paris would have to cease their threats of bombing under whatever pretext at all (false chemical weapons) and withdraw their special forces. This measure would be valid for all protagonists in general, except for the United States and, in Idlib, for Turkey.
